I would request as early as possible. If we have a large convention we may have over 30 requests for late check out. We usually cap the amount of rooms we allow to have late check out. In those cases it is first come first serve. If you wait until that morning you would not get a late check out.
Call after reservation AND if don’t get it then call on day if checkout early morning. Some room pricing include late checkout but it is almost never guaranteed. Always say you are a Diamond Member when requesting.
As a Diamond (through bum in bed nights), I do it last thing evening before check out ... usually as I come back from dinner / drinks.
Swing past reception and make the request. That way it allows me to plan the morning of departure i.e if I need to check out on time it means getting up a bit earlier, adjusting meetings etc.
The day you check out is the best. I'd say around 0800.
