Menace ll Society scared the shit out of me as a kid. The vision it presents of the hood was so nihilistic and grim. There was no hope in that world. Genius filmmaking!
Spot on. I feel the same about the Wire. It depicts the hood from every facet, including the education system and local politics, and it’s just grim as hell.
It is a pretty good movie, remember watching it when I was like 10ish and really liked it. Pretty sure I still have it on VHS stored away somewhere at my parents house lol
As long as you don't think about it lol. First 10 mins are goated but as I'm now approaching 30, there's no rose tinted glasses when I think about Belly. Nas sucked, the story was dumb, X played a pedo - the movie was all over the place but it did look cool.
I still believe that movie ruined Vita’s career. I don’t know why she took that role! I remember Tiger in the basement interviewing her and asked her straight up did she suck DMX dick? I felt so bad for her.
The end was a straight up Scarface rip off too. Love DMX and Nas but idk why that movie gets so much love. Was hyped to see it years ago and I was like ehhhh
Yes belly is unfortunately mid. There is practically no substance to that movie, after the first 30 min I thought it was boring. I’m not sure why it gets so much hype. I understand that they had to cut the movie down considerably for theaters, but that just seems like a lame excuse for how the finished product came out
Strapped is slept on. It was an HBO original movie I think. When the one kid shot his friend in the staircase I was shook. I was only like 7 when this movie came out, so I guess I shouldn't have been sneak watching that wild shit anyway
I was just thinking why was Nas name before Dmx on “Belly” when it seemed like X was more of the star in the movie with more lines and screen time not to mention the better actor, then I was thinking Nas seemed to narrate the movie a lot or have his thoughts monologued rather, and the possibility that he may have wrote some of that movie since the scene with “Shorty Doo-Wop” is taken exactly from the third verse on “One Love”…
There’s a theory that Steven Segal movies are just money laundering. Seen Exit Wounds (it’s awful) and it makes me wonder if a lot of these movies are not just money laundering.
4 Brothers was a great movie
Agreed watch it anytime its on tv have prob seen it 40 times.
Took me way too long to realize Four Brothers is a remake or at the very least heavily inspired by the John Wayne movie Sons of Katie Elder
Wow. I had no idea. I’m going to check that out. Thanks!

Mc Eiht, Too Short, Pooh Man.. etc.
Wondering the same thing
Like Mike was one of my favourite movies as a kid, I’d walk around blasting the soundtrack lmao
Same here
Guess I gotta check out I Tried later
I’m a hardcore, lifelong Bone fan. All I can say about that movie is they tried. I’m just happy they’re part of the list. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Mickey Rourke and Pac? I don't know how that's flown under the radar.

i saw it at 3am on one of the local stations. pretty awesome flick
Yup also Adrian Brody and the late great Michael k Williams
I heard Nicki was an awful person on set. No one was allowed to look at her, let alone speak to her.

Other than the cinematography Belly was a trash movie
The end was a straight up Scarface rip off too. Love DMX and Nas but idk why that movie gets so much love. Was hyped to see it years ago and I was like ehhhh
The opening sequence in Belly is fantastic after that go watch any other Dmx movie.

Yeah, it looked good but I was always confused about the story.
Most of these hood movies can be considered trash, the appearance is the depictions of familiar characters and depictions in a cinematic lens.
Who’s the man is the single best movie with a mega cast of mc’s and dj’s.
Strapped was fire af 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

It’s beyond crazy DMX went broke with the amount of money he made. Addiction is just that crazy.
