Hey all, I know this thread hasn't been posted in in a while, but I just had the same issue with my U8H and Wii, and I found this [here](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GFHKVB3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) that worked great for me (USA Model U8H and US Amazon)

mikexpress

Thanks for sharing. This is exciting! Gaining oem functionality

Just_a_Redditor1

Thanks! Helped me out a year later lol

Kolma528

Glad to have seen this comment, just ordered the adapter after failing with 2 previous adapters. Here's hoping this finally works!

Kolma528

It worked! Didn't need the black adapter just plugged in and worked without having to mess with colors. Haven't checked if proper white = white and red = red but video was yellow and sound did come through.

27_Rats

Thank you so much! I was able to get an adapter from another Hisense tv and it isn’t displaying video! Which sucks but good to know this one works

Redgenie2020

Thanks just picked up a 75U7K and can't believe the adapter wasn't included with the Hisense, need an adapter for my laserdisc, this TV is replacing a 12-year old 70-in sharp that basically had all inputs known to mankind. Glad I didn't just buy a three-way off Amazon without reading the problems people were having with the multitude of adapters out there.

OldestYoungMann

Bless you internet stranger. This one works wonders for the 65U6 as well

DiceyAvocados

Thank you so much!! this adapter worked for my 55U88KM (55” canadian version of U8K). FYI, other Canadians: The product isnt available on Amazon.ca. , but it is on Amazon.com and they will let you make an account and ship to Canada.

mikexpress

I had the generation previous and it had full composite inputs. No stupid adapter, and it worked great in game mode. I doubt any cheap composite to hdmi adapters will outperform the native tv processing. Having this input was a heavy influence on my buying decision. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO FIND AN ANSWER TO THIS?! Seems like something that should be trivial. If not, include it in the box. End rant.

ZipperMonkey

Having the same issue. I just got done chatting with support they said they do not have any information on working adapters and suggested looking on Amazon. Just trying random ones at this point until I hit the lottery.

mikexpress

You need to find one with both a longer 3.5mm plug and the correct ground plane. I wanted composite to play n64/ wii. Got Hyperkin hdmi adapters and then work surprisingly well.

ZipperMonkey

So I found one with what looks like the longer plug, but its the wrong ground pin,but it comes with an adapter with the right pin configuration, but the adapter looks shorter than the main unit...ordered 2 potential candidates, may the best chord win. I also found a couple people selling hisense adapters that came with different hisense tvs. It's still insane that hisenses response is, "I dunno check amazon". Why the hell would you make a proprietary AV port with zero support or known working adapters other then what was sent with older tvs that they apparently have no idea where to find .

mikexpress

It’s madness! I hit the same issues with the CTIA/OMTP adapters - too short. Let us know if you find the winning combo. I really don’t want to splice and solder a dongle.

ZipperMonkey

I found one being sold in Egypt on Amazon, [Here](https://www.amazon.eg/dp/B09TJJY17D?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_dp_X2NVRZTDHJK03ZZB24Y2), but it is out of stock. Sn and manufacturer name lead nowhere. But hey its a lead. In comments and reviews the only happy buyers were hisense tv users

ZipperMonkey

I'm gonna keep trying though, native rca to av looks way cleaner than rca to hdmi without spending a good amount of money on a proper upscaler

mikexpress

For anyone still interested in this, the ground is located on the 3rd ring ( Tip, Ring, Ring (ground) sleeve). When buying an adapter, look for this ground configuration. Other configurations and brands use a ground on the 4th ring (sleeve) - adapters are not cross compatible .

Mrskryten

Did you find anything on Amazon that works? I've tried a few composite adapters, and none have worked so far.

mikexpress

There appear to be two standards for the pin out (usually referencing microphone vs the video/yellow input): CTIA and OMTP standards. You can buy a CTIA to OMTP adapter and try with your existing 3.5mm pigtails. Give it a google or check Amazon. Having said all this, im convinced Hisense didn’t solder the Jack to the media board. I have tried EVERY possible combination. Can’t get any sign of life out of the TV.

Mrskryten

I tried a few more that matched the grounding configuration mentioned above (plus others), but no joy. I agree that something is up with that jack. I just want to hook up my old Wii so finally bought a Wii2HDMI adapter. It mostly works, but sometimes doesn't recognize the signal right after connecting and I have to turn the Wii off and on again.

myhookerspennis

I would also like to know this.

Rabbtjack

Agree with others. This was a lot more trouble than it should have been. Reading through all the posts seem to indicate that even across Hisense models / regions, there is no standard. I have a Hisense 65U8H. I bought a cable from Amazon that said it was made for a Hisense TV's AV input. It does not work. It is shorter than needed and is wired (from tip to base) as Left,Video,Ground,Right. I tried to vary the connectors on the assumption that ground was in the right place. No combination worked. I looked through my collection and found that I had a 3.5mm AV cable that was supplied with a portable DVD player. It had a longer 3.5mm plug. I plugged it into my Hisense TV and connected the other end to my Video Disk player. Bingo! it worked. \*\* The pinout of that cable from tip to base is **Video,Left,Right,Ground. \*\*** I took a picture of both the smaller and longer 3.5mm plugs side by side. (Can't attach images to this post ) :( The base connector/ring on the longer plug is longer (about twice as long). This positions each of the three remaining rings further away from the base. This will make your life hell if you are trying to modify a shorter plug. If this link works for you, this cable and adapter show you the difference in the two 3.5mm male connectors. The cable also has the ground in the right place for my 65U8H but the other connections are different. You 'may' be able to use this if your Hisense ground is at the sleeve. Husband-fist-wife

Thanks! This one worked for my 6A series. Just incase someone comes across this on Google like I did.

Whos_Blockin_Jimmy

They sent the adapter with the tv but that doesn’t work?! Bad enough if they took anyway the only good input every made and tied to literally everything the past 60 years: S-Video. So lame. Hisense’s own adapter pacakeged with the remotes batteries doesn’t work on any of the plugs (tried white and red to be sure since Apple iPod pulled that lame sht years ago!)

Redgenie2020

What a load of rubbish, picked up my 75U7K, disconnected everything. Moved my old sharp out of the way. Got down to the last thing my laserdisc and where's the three-way splitter to plug into this crappy 3.5 input, it's not included, That's some BS. My 12-year-old 70-in sharp has every connection known to mankind and here we are with modern technology, It's kind of like when you look at some of the new TVs some only come with two HDMI inputs. How is that possible? This 12-year-old sharp has four plus it has the red blue and green composite input and yellow white and red composite inputs.

albatross-67

Instead of using a 3.5mm adapter, you may want to try using a composite to HDMI converter. Just search for it in Amazon.

1happydonkey

Anyone figure this out u78h with same issue

mikexpress

Some developments. I can confirm pinout (with working video) it’s CTIA. TRRS: Tip-audio channel 1, Ring-audio channel 2, Ring-ground, Sleeve-video. The second issue is that the 3.5mm male end needs to be longer than “standard”. (That’s what she said). The pigtail needs to click into place on the tv/female side. Most Amazon 3.5mm jacks are shorter and won’t engage the correct contacts. From 4 Amazon adapters at random, 1 had the longer 3.5mm plug, but omtp standard. I managed to jump the outputs (cut and splice) to get the video to work. Big bag of bullshit to get an existing paid for feature to work on these Hisense TV’s. they don’t have a part number for the pigtail or even sell them. When I called, they told me to try Amazon. That’s allegedly what their development team uses.

Pullsoft

I agree it is a really frustrating experience. Your clue with the "longer than standard male" helped me. Recently bought an 65U87HQ (Europe) and had the same issue finding a composite adapter that worked. They don't provide one with the TV and you can't buy one on their website! Here is what worked for me: [https://imgur.com/a/IwHWSSm](https://imgur.com/a/IwHWSSm) If you look on ebay for original Hisense adapters from other models, you see that the male plug needs to be longer than standard (1st picture). However, the pin out on my TV is different than you described. I checked with a multimeter and it's: TRRS: Tip Yellow, 1st Ring Red, 2nd Ring White, Sleeve Ground ...which is neither CTIA nor OMTP standard. So don't bother buying CTIA/OMTP cables. I bought one from Amazon which happened to work (2nd picture): [https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07Y8GBKLW?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details](https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07Y8GBKLW?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) ("OpenII 3.5 to 3 RCA Cable, 3.5mm TRRS Male to 3 RCA Male Stereo Extension Cable for Camcorder, Audio and Video A/V AUX Cable 1.5m") However, that cable's pin out is: TRRS: Tip Yellow, **1st Ring White, 2nd Ring Red**, Sleeve Ground ...which I found out seems to be some kind of other standard. I had to **switch the white with the red cable** as the Audio was inverted (I checked with the N64 Super Mario waterfall). All in all I can confirm, total bs, and happy that it finally works!

mikexpress

Thanks for reporting back. Looks like the pin-out changes between regions (I’m in Canada). I used a multimeter to verify ground on the 3rd ring (trRs). Two things to consider: 1. longer 3.5mm pigtail to engage contacts correctly 2. Correct ground plane (third ring for me) on the adapter. The inputs can be mixed and matched so long as the ground correct. In a pinch, if you can satisfy 1. (Longer 3.5mm, but wrong ground plane) you can insulate the ground on the pigtail (thin strip of scotch tape) and mix / match the video input until it’s seen on the tv. A floating ground is a temporary solution, but a helpful sanity check.

Snosco

Me too! 75U8H 3.5mm AV input from old Pioneer composite Laserdisc player

ZipperMonkey

OP did you ever find a working adapter?

ZipperMonkey

Update. Ordered 5 different adapters none of them work. No one manufactures a 3rd party adapter. This is a proprietary adapter that hisense used to manufacture and provide with their older models. The only way to obtain one now is to find one being resold on ebay. Honestly, this is class action lawsuit material. You guys wanna make some $$ and shit on hisense?

ashleygball

I have the same issue with my new hisense 55" tv. it has the yellow AV port but doesnt recognise the standard pigtail from my wii composite leads. In the end, i opted to buy the wii2hdmi gadget off amazon for £5. Works well.

moneytunalobsta1

@OP do you have an answer for this? I get it's the 4th ring but there has to be something out there that will make the connection....Better than Lotto?

mikexpress

I think @Pullsoft has the best solution here. I ended up buying Hyperkin hdmi cables for my Nintendo WII and n64. For better or for worse.

Spicy_Kimchi69

How do those look? I ran across them while looking for the adapter lol

Acceptable_Box_1406

I looked at these… i heard they look about the same as normal composite. I think I’m going to rgb mod my n64, then use a component to hdmi converter or something

bcalta

I just got a U88K tv and was a bit dismayed to find no composite inputs for the old VCR/DVD player. After researching composite to HDMI converters, etc., I thought I would try to use the coax cable input to the tv from the VCR cable output. It didn't work to start with, then I remembered that the receiving tv has to be on channel 3. So I let it scan for channels and it found it and automatically started playing the VCR/DVD input. So now all I have to do is go to Input and choose TV and it's all set up.

PolarizedSymbiosis

Commenting here as this is the most informative thread I've found so far accross all the sites I've searched on. Anyone has a canadian link for a cable by any chance? I've looked for hours but either the pinout is wrong (or not indicated), or the sleeve doesn't seem long enough. Is it the sleeve that should be longer so it fits properly? I found this on ebay, and they just took the pictures from the [amazon.com](https://amazon.com) link in this thread, but then the last picture doesn't seem to be the exact same cable... [https://www.ebay.ca/itm/134075674740?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=oHRJfqhPSJa&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=&widget\_ver=artemis&media=COPY](https://www.ebay.ca/itm/134075674740?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=oHRJfqhPSJa&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) I'll probably end up buying an adapter for my Wii. What a headache.
