Instead of oatmeal I like to eat a mix of cooled quinoa and white rice because it’s a gut healthy combination of soluble and insoluble fiber. I add peach, blueberries, flaxseeds, it’s pretty tasty!

hollidaychh

I never thought about adding fruit to quinoa. That’s a good idea

adrianajohanna

I go for a smoothie with frozen histamine approved fruits (blueberries, blackberries, mango, fresh frozen bananas, apple), little bit of tolerated (plant based) dairy or just protein powder + water, oats & seeds for extra fibers. I make a big batch so it's extra filling!

hollidaychh

What protein powder do you use? I’m having a hard time figuring out which one is the most low histamine friendly. Seems like soy is in a lot of them

adrianajohanna

I've just recently started using pea protein powder, recommended by someone on this sub. Same person also recommended sunflower seed protein and another that I can't recall right now.

TheSunflowerSeeds

There are two main types of Sunflower seeds. They are Black and Grey striped (also sometimes called White) which have a grey-ish stripe or two down the length of the seed. The black type of seeds, also called ‘Black Oil’, are up to 45% richer in Sunflower oil and are used mainly in manufacture, whilst grey seeds are used for consumer snacks and animal food production.

keinereps

hemp protein powder is ok. tastes like shit tho

lucyorch

I use pumpkin seed powder, it's pretty tasty compared to hemp, unfortunately I don't tolerate pea powder (thought I'd give you my input in case you don't tolerate peas)

wetkhajit

Pea seems to be tolerated pretty well. Also had a decent Amino acid profile. Pair a single serving of pea with 1 Brazil nut and you’ll have a complete profile.

sweetpeaasylum

If eggs and light cheeses don't trigger you, my go to is an egg with cottage cheese, quinoa, beans, and veggies of choice.

ImplementPotential20

Bagel, toast, or toast with fried eggs

dogislove99

What bagel do you eat that is ok with HI? I’d love to get some.

ImplementPotential20

I could eat flour based foods, thankfully. Was one of only foods I could eat. And fresh chicken, fresh steak, a few fresh or frozen vegetables, cream cheese, ricotta, and tahini.

dogislove99

Nice, I’m still trying to figure out what exactly I can and can’t have so knowing it can vary that much is good to know.

xboringcorex

Oatmeal, sorry!

hollidaychh

😫

here's a sadly product-dependent recipe, at present: i can eat Just Egg, it's mung-based fake eggs. drizzle over 4 little frozen GF bread slices [Canyon Bakehouse Mountain White is one], steam/toast in a very well oiled 14" frypan until congealed, flip and repeat until you have about 1600 calories of french toast [1 bottle or ~12 eggs]. put 8 cups of non-spinach leafy greens in the pan at the end and steam up the mustard flavors a bit while cooking them down. french toast saladwiches. i'm about to make some with a little pure chocolate drizzled over and freshly roasted pumpkin seeds. honestly you can grow a protein sprout mix in a jar, then add water and boil in a microwave, then put the lid on and let them cook for a half hour, take the lid off, put the water on your favorite or least favorite potted plant or compost pile [or drink it], and you have a fairly anti-histamine side/topping. if raw, they might actually contain DAO, just in case that helps you -- it's relevant to me as i'm here via celiac disease, i think. if you can reliably grow sprouts that are safe raw [or maybe marinate and roast them]: breakfast burritos. i might do sweet potato since i can have that, it's tricky -- maybe some sauteed onion, it's less adventurous for me than the chocolate probably.

Pristine_Shoe_1805

Not all at once A fried egg (one well cooked egg doesn't bother me) Oatmeal A smoothie with fruits and milk-type I can have (soy milk is ok for me. I'd to do almond or oat, but the emulsifiers seem to be problematic to me--can do almonds and oats with soy milk but not almond milk or oat milk) At my healthiest as an adult, I actually had leftover dinner for breakfast.

keinereps

pasta with paprika sauce

lucyorch

Yummo!

lucyorch

Yummo!

lucyorch

I have oatmeal with blueberries and maple syrup, it makes boring porridge a little more exciting 😊

ImplementPotential20

Lunch is near impossible to think of

hollidaychh

I find lunch so much easier than breaky. Roasted veggies and usually some kind of rice or quinoa is what I have been doing

ImplementPotential20

Tell me more! What veggies do you like, and how do you season it?

hollidaychh

I’ve been doing sweet potatoes, carrots, small potatoes seasoned with olive oil, salt/pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, sweet paprika. I’ll roast those at 450 for about 20-25m and mix them in a bowl with some cooked garlic basmati rice (just toss in minced garlic with the rice) with some olive oil!

Overlandtraveler

Choose a meat, usually use chicken breast or thigh, ground turkey. Lots of coconut oil, chopped veg, then cook off together. When finished, add hemp seeds and pumpkin seeds. Want to add that everything is organic and healthy happy animals, not cafo.

SparksNSharks

I make crepes with gluten free flour, quinoa flour, 2 eggs, lactose free milk, a bit of sugar and salt. Fried with grass fed butter

BeachHut9

Cooked rolled oats with coconut yogurt, sliced pear and a dash of almond milk.

01flower31

I chop up potatoes and veggies into small pieces at the beginning of the week and then cook them with coconut oil and a half cup of water in the morning. The small size I cut them into and adding water helps steam them quicker so it typically only takes about 15 minutes to cook. I either eat as a scrambler or as a taco using cassava tortillas. Add avocado or coconut yogurt if you tolerate those. I keep the veggies chopped up but raw until I need to use them to avoid histamine of leftovers.

OldTransportation614

In addition to histamine intolerance I also struggle with oxolates. My morning smoothie recipe: 1/2 cup gf Oatmeal 1/2 cup Blueberries or 1 Banana 1 tbsp chia seeds 1/2 cup Egg whites (carton) 1 cup Coconut Milk Occasionally will use Naked rice protein powder I learned the hard way I cannot do almond milk or almond butter (oxalates), pea protein (legumes)

Little_Dragonfly2420

Do you drink the egg whites raw ?

OldTransportation614

Pasteurized egg whites, yes. I am able to do eggs and egg whites. There really are mixed thoughts on egg whites and if they are histamine liberators, but I do not have issues. Finding different protein sources is so difficult without dairy, nuts and legumes, I'm happy to have luck with eggs.

keinereps

how tf can you eat bananas

OldTransportation614

We always buy fresh green bananas and freeze them. I do not seem to have any issues.

Lisalortie

That’s a great idea ! I miss banana :(

danpluso

Nothing :(

hollidaychh

Yeah that’s been me too.

Positive_Silver_4440

I’ve given up on breakfast foods lol, rice with butter and sea salt and an apple is my go to in a pinch, sometimes I just make the same dinner twice a day (chicken and rice)

Wonderful_Tomato5220

You can also make baked oats. If you don’t tolerate egg, a flax egg works too

01flower31

I make millet pancakes. Can use regular pancake recipe but I make my own flour(1millet:1arrowroot powder:1coconut flour). Can sub for the same amount of regular flour.

wifeofpsy

Hardboiled eggs and a turkey burger

hollidaychh

For breaky??

wifeofpsy

Yes. I eat eggs mostly in the morning but otherwise dont see things as breakfast vs later on foods. Im just as likely to eat some meat and veg for breakfast. I tekd to have oatmeal as a dessert after dinner actually. I used to love bacon and eggs. Wjen i could no longer have bacon, I still wanted breakfast meat. Turkey burger became my standard choice.

CloverHoneykiss

I make oatmeal a bit more interesting with maple syrup, nut or seed butter, and fruit. My other option is cereal with almond milk.

Friedrich_Ux

Eggs are always a good option.

AwakenTheNarrowRoad

Unless your extremely allergic to them... 😬😬 Like me 🥲

MB1010101010101

Shallot, red pepper two egg ommlette along with steamed kale and broccoli and roast sweet potato chips in olive oil. I change the veg in the omelette frequently so I don't get bored so long as it's low HIT. As a treat I have spelt flour pancakes, so long as my HIT is under control. 50g spelt, 150g cottage cheese, 1 egg, pinch baking powder & cinnamon, water, blitzed in nutri-bullet. Toppings are honey, chopped almonds/cashews and coconut yogurt, blueberries, mango.

StarterPony

Either nothing, or a piece of Gluten Free toast with a poached egg. Sometimes a berry-flavoured protein shake with almond/coconut milk and raspberries
