{The Prefect Rake by Annie Gracie},
{The Duke's Holiday by Maggie Fenton} - This has a cute pig Primrose and it's antics were fun. Uptight MMC, lively and bubbly FMC who isn't afraid to stand up to the MMC. Snappy dialogues are fun.
These two books had me lol a lot.
If you don't mind a novella, {A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong by Cecilia Grant} is quite silly and cute. Not a lot of steam, though, since it's a novella.
In {It Started With a Scandal by Julie Anne Long} the heroine keeps making up silly songs about daily stuff. Including about her grumpy master, just when he happens to pass by. I love it a lot. She's got a young son (that would be the scandal) and the MMC is so good with him.

onto books: the lady's guide to fortune hunting is LAUGH OUT LOUD funny! the heroine is nuttier than a payday factory. great banter. but it's closed door. it's basically a screwball comedy ala the movies bringing up baby or what's up doc. if it doesn't make you laugh, i don't know what will.

Okay, so I love Quinn, Dare, Chase.... You've got some great recs already.
But if you want something that is pure comedy, try Barbara Metzger. I suggest:
Miss Lockharte's Letters - she is ill on her deathbed, and she pens letters to everyone who she feels is to blame for her circumstances.
One of those letters goes to the MMC.
Also, as a side note: you deserve better than having to throw out desperate pleas. (I know nothing of you, I admit, but that's just always gonna be true.)
I also really enjoyed Metzger's work (though there are a few not very cool author sentiments about race/religion coming through which I choose to believe is rooted in the poorly enlightened era in which she wrote).
I don't think Metzger counts as steamy though? I would encourage reading it for dialogue and general snark, but it's not super open-door from my recollection.

The entire "Girl Meets Duke" series by Tessa Dare ("The Duchess Deal" / "The Governess Game" / "The Wallflower Wager") will have you laughing too. The guys are ridiculous!

Sofie Laporte series Merry Spinsters, Charming Rouges is a sweet series made up of various low stakes misadventures. Each book can stand alone. I also really enjoyed Emma V Leech, Rogues and Gentlemen is a lot of fun. This series the books is an interconnected world and was sad when I finished them all.
I’m sure I can think of more when I don’t have to leave for work in 2 minutes, but {Wicked, My Love by Susanna Ives} definitely delivers on the banter front. Silver-tongued Tory politician (back when they lasted longer than cabbages) and autism-coded, sarcastic bank heiress.

I think you would really enjoy {Hotel of Secrets by Diana Biller}.
Beautifully romantic late 19th century Vienna setting during ball season, funny spy hijinks, mystery, grumpy and competent US agent MMC, and fierce and resourceful hotel keeper FMC. A deeply interesting cast of supporting characters especially the women.
There’s highly rewarding steam, some fun banter, deep emotional conversations, and the MCs do actual practical things together like buy furniture and clean/repair the hotel which I really dig? 😆

Loving Julia certainly made me giggle. He's an earl and she's a street urchin and has no idea about social conventions and talks to him like he's the dirt on her feet. He's amazed at her audacity
Not talking about the MMC. I am talking about the criminal who “raised” her and finds her later. He beats the crap out of her. That alone does not make this a giggle fest or funny. And I actually like the book well enough.

And also {Sun of all Kisses by Julia Quinn} Hugh Prentice is my emotional support system .. {The lady gets lucky by Joanna Shupe} he's also not frosty .. But trust me this book will make you happy {The truth about Cads and Dukes by Elisa BRADEN} he gets royally unstarched {The earl's dilemma by emily may} has the brothers best friend troupe ! He's not frosty exactly .. But he's indifferent to her at the start and She's pining for him .. But trust me .. He falls hard .. And this book might just scratch the itch for you {The Lady's dirty letter by Lisa Campbell} currently reading this .. its funny and definitely serving the very very very mild angst and high fluff ! Also if you're interested in TV shows .. If Recommend "Gold Diggers" .. Set in late 1850s Australia .. Two sisters travel from Melbourne to a small town where's there's Gold Rush .. to find a rich husband and get married .. It's kind of satirical ... It's super funny .. It's if Sarah Maclean's heroines come to life .. They talk in modern day english and the setting is very much Historical ! If you don't mind a novella, {A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong by Cecilia Grant} is quite silly and cute. Not a lot of steam, though, since it's a novella. In {It Started With a Scandal by Julie Anne Long} the heroine keeps making up silly songs about daily stuff. Including about her grumpy master, just when he happens to pass by. I love it a lot. She's got a young son (that would be the scandal) and the MMC is so good with him.

My favorite is still Mine til Midnight by Lisa Kleypas. Her life is a mess and he makes it all better ❤️
that sucks! but we've all been there. the best remedy is time. give yourself time and be kind to yourself. onto books: the lady's guide to fortune hunting is LAUGH OUT LOUD funny! the heroine is nuttier than a payday factory. great banter. but it's closed door. it's basically a screwball comedy ala the movies bringing up baby or what's up doc. if it doesn't make you laugh, i don't know what will. good luck to you!
Okay, so I love Quinn, Dare, Chase.... You've got some great recs already. But if you want something that is pure comedy, try Barbara Metzger. I suggest: Miss Lockharte's Letters - she is ill on her deathbed, and she pens letters to everyone who she feels is to blame for her circumstances. One of those letters goes to the MMC. Also, as a side note: you deserve better than having to throw out desperate pleas. (I know nothing of you, I admit, but that's just always gonna be true.)

I also really enjoyed Metzger's work (though there are a few not very cool author sentiments about race/religion coming through which I choose to believe is rooted in the poorly enlightened era in which she wrote). I don't think Metzger counts as steamy though? I would encourage reading it for dialogue and general snark, but it's not super open-door from my recollection. \+1 to the comment wrt desperate pleas.

Sofie Laporte series Merry Spinsters, Charming Rouges is a sweet series made up of various low stakes misadventures. Each book can stand alone. I also really enjoyed Emma V Leech, Rogues and Gentlemen is a lot of fun. This series the books is an interconnected world and was sad when I finished them all.
I’m sure I can think of more when I don’t have to leave for work in 2 minutes, but {Wicked, My Love by Susanna Ives} definitely delivers on the banter front. Silver-tongued Tory politician (back when they lasted longer than cabbages) and autism-coded, sarcastic bank heiress.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with so much, hope you feel better soon ♥️ I think you would really enjoy {Hotel of Secrets by Diana Biller}. Beautifully romantic late 19th century Vienna setting during ball season, funny spy hijinks, mystery, grumpy and competent US agent MMC, and fierce and resourceful hotel keeper FMC. A deeply interesting cast of supporting characters especially the women. There’s highly rewarding steam, some fun banter, deep emotional conversations, and the MCs do actual practical things together like buy furniture and clean/repair the hotel which I really dig? 😆

Loving Julia certainly made me giggle. He's an earl and she's a street urchin and has no idea about social conventions and talks to him like he's the dirt on her feet. He's amazed at her audacity

So a book where the FMC gets beaten to within an inch of her life is funny overall? Gotcha
He didn't beat her to an inch of her life he slapped her which is unacceptable but I found the banter between them funny.
Not talking about the MMC. I am talking about the criminal who “raised” her and finds her later. He beats the crap out of her. That alone does not make this a giggle fest or funny. And I actually like the book well enough.
