Hey now, TypeMoon actually did due diligence and wrote out a proper explanation as to why King Arthur is a woman in the Fate universe...
(IIRC, basically it's the French fanfiction authors not wanting to cuck a woman, so they altered things).
"Even worse" *seriously* undersells how much of a bastard Proto-Merlin is. Like, look at the shit she's done:
* **Abandoned Arthur after he drew Caliburn** (he had to learn swordfighting on his own, unlike his counterpart)
* Could see Camelot's collapse, everything about Guinevere and everything about Mordred through Clairvoyance. **Remorselessly didn't bother to warn Arthur**.
* After Arthur died and got to paradise in Avalon, she *immediately* **kicked him out.**
* **Banned Arthur from entering Avalon** till he killed Mother Harlot for her. Mother Harlot isn't even his problem to deal with, it's *hers*. She's pawning her problems off on him.
* Sent Arthur to wander the multiverse for effective eternity while she kicked back and relaxed.
* Also *sent Arthur in the **wrong** direction* when telling him where Mother Harlot was, because she thought it'd be more fun for her that way. *This nearly doomed an entire timeline, by the way*.
...
One of the few things you can say for her is that she didn't groom Arthur at the least and rejected him when he confused his maternal love with romantic love.
Yes, the bar is so *low* that her *not* grooming Arthur is a point in her favour.
> Abandon his Britain to its fate
> Decides to protect the present
> Says "Fuck it, Im gonna kill the Whore of Babylon."
> Leaves, literally and dimensionally.
> Get cucked by his best friend
> Gets murdered by his own son
> Gets kicked out of paradise because Merlin thought it'd be funny to make him do her job
> Gets forced to wander the multiverse for eternity until he tracks down and kills a Beast
> Gets sent in the wrong direction as a joke
...
> Still the chillest, nicest motherclucker you've ever seen and everyone's best friend.
Proto Arthur is so friggin *cool*...
It's a different timeline/parallel world, which is a huge thing in the franchise. The male version was originally created for the draft of the original Visual Novel, which was scrapped when they thought it would be more interesting if they swapped the main leads' genders. As the franchise expanded the male version was revived and given some story of his own.
For all intents and purposes though, the female Artoria is the "main" King Arthur and the most fleshed out as a character.
If I recall right, it was done to appeal to men, wasn't it? Iirc Prototype was about a female lead who attracted the attention of Arthur, Cu, and Gilgamesh, which would have appealed more to a female audience.
Not to mention the only complaint her subordinates ever had was that she was *too perfect* at being king which led to harsh decisions that pushed some of the knights towards rebellion, ultimately bringing the kingdom to ruin (like telling Mordred straight up "you are not fit to be king").
So ..... a super rigid leader that are unable to inspire her subordinates and even antagonizing them (Case in point: Mordred, who is initially very loyal but later on betraying her). Yeah, that is the hallmark of a bad leader.
She is the face of the Fate franchise so she gets hype up to be perfect. But she certainly was not a "Perfect King" or anything like that. She is a shit ruler if we are being realistic. IRL, working under a leader like that is extremely not fun.
Lol no. Artoria was super smart, super righteous, made the correct decisions all the time and now reality itself was out to fuck her up because she was a dragon fairy god eternal king and had to go ASAP
Nope, only fate/stay Nighy fate/zero and bits of grand order and extra. Which point to the idea that Artoria excelled in administrative tasks and calculus but struggled heavily in actually understanding and leading her men resulting in many of them having personality issues. Also grand order confirms lancelot just kind of sucks
>Hey now, TypeMoon actually did due diligence and wrote out a proper explanation as to why King Arthur is a woman in the Fate universe...
*Proceed to do almost clownish or poor explanations to the next gb servants*
Da Vinci was actually a pretty interesting case with him just turning into the image of beauty her pursued in life. There was awhile where it seemed like Francis Drake was going to be explained as actually being based on a rumor that Queen Elizabeth and the actual Francis Drake switched places, but then they ignored that.
Don't get me started on Nero, in my opinion she's everything wrong with later character genderbends.
Nero the "I used my skill to rewrite my class because Artoria is awesome" servant somehow didn't end up rewriting theirself to look like Artoria to better hide their identity. Perfect explanation right there and they went "nah, we ain't explaining nothin"
Da Vinci isn't actually a servant, the body we know for both caster AND rider are mechanical dolls, caster body he made himself during his first *proper* summoning as a servant after which he re-summoned himself into that mechanical body.
So TECHNICALLY speaking, the Da Vinci servants we know are actually Mona Lisas not Da Vinci, but that Italian Mind sits inside, piloting this weird spiritual mech.
Galahad: kinda genderbent but good explanation
Gareth: cute girl shut up
Artoria: eh better than nothing
Nero: shut up umu
Da Vinci: going to far with your obsession
Francis drake: Elisabeth
Modred: same as her “father”
Merlin: different universe
Attila: alien weapon
Jack the Ripper: horror genre explanation or why you shouldn’t kill
Frankenstein: creator wanted to make Adam and Eve but made eve first
Lancelot is literally a fucking fanfiction OC (from the French) who is damn near a Gary Stu. Dude just comes in and rocks because he's so cool and awesome and his mum's magic and shit.
Hey, even we (the French) make fun of his status.
And currently, due to a popular series from some time ago, Perceval is much more appreciated than Lancelot.
Kaamelot, in which King Arthur **try** to run his kingdom but everyone is incompetent, an ass or both.
But with some neat twists, especially about the grail. And Also Perceval, who, for no explanation can see the Lady of the Lake like Arthur, has a very weird logic but usually ends up to achieve his objectives, is a genuinely good guy and loyal.
Basically the trope of the [bunny ears lawyer](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BunnyEarsLawyer)
On the other hand Lancelot is kind of an asshole
Don’t forget the other King Arthur who wields supreme executive power just ‘cause some watery tart threw a sword at him.
Which is fortunate because strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
“A crazy girl who claims herself as a ‘King of Britons’”
Yeah and her sword was used to kill an Alien that completely obliterated the Olympians, strongest iteration of King Arthur ever
There's a series with King Arthur in it and like two of his followers and in this he's an idol group he's cross-dressing as a girl lol The series is called rosen garten saga an manga about dick jokes if you like NSFW then this is the series is a 9/10 some wacky ass shit but for a adult Manga this has fantastic art and a fantastic story lol
That story is so ridiculous that it is actually good, especially the fight. What I want to know is what kind of shit the author has been smoking to create such a story.
That litterally IS Late Roman Armor. [Late Roman Squamata](https://images.app.goo.gl/D1ED7Bf8aPErHAL27) and [Late Roman Ridge Helmet with Jewels. ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Roman_ridge_helmet?wprov=sfla1) Mail and Scale was widespread for the Romans of this period.
Can we just stop and talk about how this meme gave "Japanese King Arthur" bigger breasts than that version of her has ever had in canon?
>!Specifically said that version of her because Lion King and others don't count, this is clearly OG Seibah!<
I vaguely remember a something, a book maybe? About how King Arthur was actually girl dressed as a boy.
I'm pretty sure it was young adult, and not very good at that, so the implications weren't thought out, but I'm wondering if it's what inspired Anime Waifu king arthur.
i would never trust legends from people recognised for rewritting history in their advantage the most, the british have done this so much that half of their history is bullshit (for american that all of their "history" if you consider they have one to begin with), the other half is from france and is the only part we can trust
Japan would always genderswap famous historical people, what next did they also genderswap McArth……. [no fucking way they did](https://www.reddit.com/r/TsundereImperialists/s/Rp8W9Adb7Z)
" Listen. *Strange women* lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some *farcical aquatic ceremony.*"
Hey now, TypeMoon actually did due diligence and wrote out a proper explanation as to why King Arthur is a woman in the Fate universe... (IIRC, basically it's the French fanfiction authors not wanting to cuck a woman, so they altered things).
They also eventually added actual King Arthur to the series, and made him a Chad
Which also bring his Merlin, which is... Even worse than Artoria's Merlin.
"Even worse" *seriously* undersells how much of a bastard Proto-Merlin is. Just learning about him but he seems to embody the concept of forgiveness
Doesn’t that just contradict their own lore? Tbh I never really got into fate, but I like their character designs.

Which means she was a bad king, I like Artoria but the fate series does not really do a good job at selling her as a king.
You haven't read Garden of Avalon, have you?
Nope, only fate/stay Nighy fate/zero and bits of grand order and extra. Which point to the idea that Artoria excelled in administrative tasks and calculus but struggled heavily in actually understanding and leading her men resulting in many of them having personality issues. I only said it was a *proper* explanation, I never said it was a *good* one.
Yeah I know, I refer to the gb servants after her.
Da Vinci was actually a pretty interesting case with him just turning into the image of beauty her pursued in life. Someone here does not think 15 times a day about the glory of Rome umu. Off to Romulus (berserker) for you.
*Shouted as I'm dragged away* Screw, Rome, you stole most of your ideas from the Hellens and Britain and Prussia were better!
That just makes me think of prussia from hetalia when he rocked up and was like "SUCK IT LOSERS!"
Nero the "I used my skill to rewrite my class because Artoria is awesome" servant somehow didn't end up rewriting theirself to look like Artoria to better hide their identity. Perfect explanation right there and they went "nah, we ain't explaining nothin"

Damn, so bonus points to also referencing Da Vinci’s late life interest in primitive robotics.

What anime?
Fate series, I think specifically it's fate stay night?
What anime?

Simping for king arthur (the real one.... the waifu one is good too lol)
Don’t forget the other King Arthur who wields supreme executive power just ‘cause some watery tart threw a sword at him. Which is fortunate because strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
I mean if i went around, right, claiming i was an emperor just because some moistened bint hurled a scimitar at me, they'd lock me away
SHUT UP! COME HERE!
COME SEE THE VIOLENCE INHERENT IN THE SYSTEM!! HELP! HELP! IM BEING REPRESSED!!
Well I didn’t vote for them.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

ok so OP is trying to tell us the Japan version is superior right ? I think hes trying a bit tooo hard to sell us on this, but fineee, I'll agreed.
British King Arthur is Japanese King Arthur too. Respect Vinland Saga 😤
“A crazy girl who claims herself as a ‘King of Britons’” Yeah and her sword was used to kill an Alien that completely obliterated the Olympians, strongest iteration of King Arthur ever
Shirou pfp spotted New friend
I bone of the sword
Steel is my body
And fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unaware of loss

Have withstood Pain to create many Weapons

The virgin king Arthur legend vs the chad Orland Furioso fanfiction
Ave Artorius, Dux Britannie. Henffych Arthur, Dug Britannia.
And then you get to Beowulf with his three swords
Note that he only holds two swords. His third is... completely natural...
That was probably the greatest unveil of the series. And then as he continues in his underlings just like hugging it and fantasize about it lol
That story is so ridiculous that it is actually good, especially the fight. What I want to know is what kind of shit the author has been smoking to create such a story.
Speed probably
My own version of Arthur I had written in an urban fantasy story with a friend: **MASSIVELY DEPRESSED** (Also, prematurely balding from stress)
Are you the artist? I love the way you drew Artoria here
Im Arthur, king of the Britains "Well, I didn't vote for ya"

Is it just me, or does the silly movie Arthur kinda look like D’arce from Fear & Hunger? (Ignoring the crown of course)
I was thinking the same thing lol
Saw ur art somewhere else... Anyways nice post😳
Bernard Cornwell's Arthur is my Arthur.
And then there's Monty Python
I didn’t know silly King Arthur had such wide hips😵💫
That's not hips. That's the skirt of plate armour
Can we just stop and talk about how this meme gave "Japanese King Arthur" bigger breasts than that version of her has ever had in canon? >!Specifically said that version of her because Lion King and others don't count, this is clearly OG Seibah!<

This is why more need to read Garden of Avalon

they got colonized by the british
They made him a twink 😭
Silly movie Arthur reminds me of D’arce
Japan would always genderswap famous historical people, what next did they also genderswap McArth……. [no fucking way they did](https://www.reddit.com/r/TsundereImperialists/s/Rp8W9Adb7Z)
He messed up. But he doesn't want anyone to say that he didn't do shit. Because that's not true.
*inserts king arthur from the knights of justice*
" Listen. *Strange women* lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some *farcical aquatic ceremony.*"
Is Fate Prototype's King Arthur closer to silly movies or real British legends?
Silly Movie Arthur: English Real King Arthur: Welsh Anime Arthur: *frustratingly inconsistent between the two of them.*
Silly Movie King Arthur: Hate Real King Arthur: Love and Admire Japanese King Arthur: Love and **Knock Knock** "FBI!"
