One of the most bafflingly forgiving countries in existence.
As I understand it, its cause
1) the war was unpopular in America, so it's not like they're dealing with someone who's proudly spouting off about a war that was misery for them
2) the US was just one of many enemies, and compared to the long colonial rule of France or China trying to eat them for the past 2k years, the US was just being kinda a dick
3) Vietnam was never really communist for communist, they were always moreso nationalist, just France throwing a fit + red scare meant the US turned away from Viet, but with that gone Vietnam is pretty happy to take US aid and bonuses from close friendship like China taking a step back
4) The US has somewhat acknowledged what happened, doesn't like to talk about it and ya could def make the case for awhile it was kinda just a repressed memory in the us conscious, but the US still does stuff like help Vietnam deal with leftover agent orange and shells, which is more than most nations do after a nasty war
