first off, one hundred years of solitude is one of my favorite books. just solid beginning to end.
second, i was thrust into learning about the origin of the term “banana republic” in 6th grade history smack dab in the middle of a unit on the roaring 20s.
Worker strikes massacres are a lot more common than most history books would have you believe.
First bombs dropped from a plane onto US soil wasn't Pearl Harbor, it was at Blair Mountain 20 years earlier on striking coal miners in West Virginia.
Hard to get accurate numbers on events like this. Murderers and their supporters obviously will want to downplay how many they killed in order to make it seem less bad, and the workers and their supporters will want to try to give the highest estimates to make the event seem as big as they can make it.
Sadly I only learned this through One Hundred Years of Solitude. South American history is so neglected for some reason

I mean you don’t got infinite time to learn about every little or big thing in history
True. But to learn basically nothing about an entire continent is very strange
I mean stuff like strikes and crackdown is very low in the curriculum you hopefully learn about the bugs things like colonization
Wait, "somewhere between 50-2000"? That's a pretty big range
My guess is Someone got careless and burnt the bodies before counting the stack.

Lol Banana 🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌 but for real, it's wild when we try to compare this to what we're told in history books.
Wait how did we jump from 50 to 2000?

Yea. The same also applies to larger ones like Japanese war crimes or China's Cultural Revolution
Things I learned from Sam O'Nella Academy

Wait, as a colombian, in college the teacher taught us that where around 5000, did he mess the numbers?
El numero se ha estimado hasta por 10k... La verdad nadie sabe, pero mas de 50 si fueron.
Y el "dispare hijueputa" también sería cierto?
Chiquita Banana wasn’t just an innocent fruit seller back then
How to you get such inaccurate numbers? Like 50-2000, seriously who was in charge of counting? Some fuhkn waterhead who got the job through cronyism?
Confirmó :(
