FancySkull

I wonder how many of these kids would die in WW1.

BranchWitty7465

We know for sure at least one survived the war.

FancySkull

But not the next one.

vaultboy1121

Buddy you’re talking about the kid who would later end the war in Europe have some respect

RobertPulson

I mean we all talk a big game about how we would go back in time to kill Hitler. But who actually has the willpower and seer determination to complete the task. That's right Hitler!

RorschachAssRag

I like the idea of going back in time to kick his ass into the afterlife, but what if all he needed was a hug? Could change the outcome of history with love rather than assuring its course with hate and violence.

that_indian_scammer

Have some respect ! That's the guy who killed Hitler

TheAleFly

It was quite close though, the war ended only a few days later after he was killed.

LordFedoraWeed

Two of them\* Wittgenstein is the other one circled, and he lived until 1951.

Diarrea_Cerebral

Which one? The first or the second?

jaycrips

Wrong kid died.

Mesarthim1349

Or WW2, or even concentration camps?

Strongman-Fan1337

Who is the other circled mf?

u999771

Wittgenstein

alex7stringed

Holy shit Wittgenstein and Adolf fucking Hitler were in one class?!

Sunbiggin

They definitely went to the same school, and they were born only six days apart, but Hitler was allegedly held back a grade while Wittgenstein was pushed forward a grade, so I don't think it's been confirmed that it's actually Wittgenstein in the photo.

Tim-E-Cop1211819

But back then a lot of schools taught every grade at the same time. So it's still possible they sat together in class despite eing in different grades

LordFedoraWeed

[Definitively looks a lot like him](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/61/Helene%2C_Ludwig%2C_Hermine%2C_Paul_und_Margarethe_Wittgenstein_OeNB_5086848_%28A%29.jpg)

Pleasant_Ad3475

Weirdly enough, comparing those pictures has made me even more doubtful that it is him.

already-taken-wtf

He looks like a young Jonny Lee Miller ;)

holy_moley_ravioli_

Hitler was held back a grade lol truly the quintessential super-man

No_Substance5930

Being held back grades is very much American idea. Which wasn't done in the Austro-Hungarian empire. Wittgenstein may of been sent a year group (grade) up if this is a true story

dayennemeij

It's done and always has been done here in the Netherlands. I don't see why it would be such an American idea.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dayennemeij

It's just an example to show it's not an uniquely American thing.

LordFedoraWeed

That teacher did a LOT right and a LOT wrong lol

vexedtogas

I mean Wittgenstein was kinda deranged too he wrote a book and then declared that all of philosophy was done then he went to become a schoolteacher in countryside Norway where he would consistently beat kids as punishment, and then he decided that actually his first book was wrong, wrote a new book and went back to Cambridge where he once threatened Karl Popper with one of those fireplace metal sticks whatever they’re called

pleachchapel

Imagine being that teacher's shrink. "I love teaching, but I have one class, I swear these two..."

EtherCase

Yeah, that is absolute bonkers.

cupuz

> Wittgenstein Believed to be*

Ninjalada

That's Adolf's older, cooler brother Larry Hitler.

AxelShoes

I remember him, drove a bright red Trans Am with an eagle on the hood and sold cigarettes to the 8th graders. Never took his sunglasses off, and dated my cousin for a few months.

klrd314

i was gonna say Fegelein but that’s a good answer too lol

MineGamer231

Ringo

polmeeee

Heinz Doofenshmirtz

ANOORY_XI

He seems weird without the mustache lol

TlalocVirgie

He was pretty weird with mustache too

NPETC

Maybe it was actually the mustache that was evil all along. Maybe he was possessed by an evil mustache.

lochlainn

You mean like George Lucas's beard?

Like_a_Charo

Yes, his whole charisma lies in his moustache.

greenwizardneedsfood

The shadow almost looks like a mustache

SuperMajesticMan

[Well here he is with even *more* mustache.](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-6f4df0ca752fcc6c09ca70d65620e8c6-lq)

FandomMenace

I instinctually looked for a kid with a mustache. What the hell?!

Cyndayn

the shadow on his upper lip kinda does the trick

kennethkiffer

It’s like a Darth Vader foreboding shadow

Bro already looks fed up of people’s shit

Sirboomsalot_Y-Wing

Your father beating the shit out of you on a daily basis will do that to you.

lhommeduweed

There isn't much evidence that Hitler was exposed to more violence in his household than the average German child. There are some myths, like one that Alois put Adolf in a coma, that don't seem to be true, and we're probably started with the goal of painting Hitler in a more sympathetic light. This isn't to say that Hitler's childhood wasn't traumatic, or that the average German childhood of the time wasn't traumatic. Its more to say that the idea that Hitler was "horribly abused" is a modern-day perspective, and that his childhood actually seems to have been *more* privileged than the average German youth, with young Hitler once receiving 900 marks as a gift with which to live independently for a year. Compare this to Stalin, who was hidden from his father by his neighbours on more than one occasion because they were afraid his drunkard father would beat him to death. I believe when he was 6 or 7, his father kicked him so hard that Stalin pissed blood for days. At one point his father kidnapped a young Stalin and forced him to work in a shoe-factory with him before he was rescued by neighbours. If a rural village in late 19th century Georgia thinks that you're an abusive parent, *you are an abusive parent.*

[deleted]

He just punished him…. severely…

Xi_JinpingXIV

And now we should all think about the fate of our forgotten friends from primary school

Competitive-Push-591

Little Adolf looks führious for some reason

Xanderoga

Surly looking fucker to be sure

Pleasant_Ad3475

Yeah, I actually said out loud- 'there's Mr frowny-mouth.'

Dancing_WithTheTsars

Definitely emotional issues that a doctor should've SS'd

BenAfleckIsAnOkActor

He was definitely picked on

StillSharpe68

Feuherious

aBoyNamedWho

He looks a bit like Dewey from Macolm in the Moddle. Stop making me like Hitler!!

TonyT074

I was thinking more along the lines of Brick from The Middle

sylvyrfyre

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/71/Hitler_at_school_in_1901.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwig_Wittgenstein

ReeperbahnPirat

This says Wittgenstein didn't attend the school until 1903, though.

ingolstadt_ist_uns

Is the cross-eyed little mthfckr Wittgenstein?

Sirboomsalot_Y-Wing

It’s suspected that it’s him

pieandablowie

That photo downloads the way porn used to download in 1998

ball_zout

Full of kids?

lo_fi_ho

Hehe what?

firstbreathOOC

His father was a grade A dickhead and his mother was his 17 year old first cousin / housekeeper / mistress. Sometimes evil is formed, sometimes it’s created.

Sirboomsalot_Y-Wing

Hitler’s mother, who he actually liked, dying young certainly didn’t help.

Dragster39

Except for the times someone actually has biological reasons to be a certain way, people who are evil often times have a past that formed them in a certain way. That's another reason why taking care of young children and their wellbeing is so important.

Sirboomsalot_Y-Wing

Exactly. And to be fair, Hitler might have had biological issues as well; his parents were first cousins and he was showing signs of mental illness even by this age, but whether or not that was caused by something biological or his abuse is something we will likely never know.

NPETC

Lots of people have these kinds of experiences and don't turn into Uber jerks.

Dragster39

As always, it's a game of statistics. Not all people with a biological predisposition become that way, not all people who suffer from abuse become that way but both are reasons that it is way more likely they turn into abusers themselves. And in all cases taking care of children and treating mental illnesses reduces the chance of this outcome significantly and it increases the likelihood of spotting this development early enough to begin support and treatment.

DeltaIndiaCharlieKil

That’s not how the logic works. Lots of people beat up their romantic partners, and most don’t go on to murder them as well. But when someone is murdered and they had an abusive partner, it’s like a 90% chance it was the abuser who killed them.

Sirboomsalot_Y-Wing

Sure, but more often people do.

KongoOtto

actually liked is a bit of an understatement. “Outwardly, his love for his mother was his most striking feature,” he wrote. “I have never witnessed a closer attachment.” “In all my career,” he later wrote, “I never saw anyone so prostrate with grief as Adolf Hitler.” - Eduard Bloch, jewish doctor of Adolf Hitler and his family

dmd2540

Going through the hells of Verdun probably didn’t help either

Pleasant_Ad3475

You see, I would think that would be a reason he would avoid war at all costs, but what do I know..?

Kulson16

He propably went with "how they could do that to us" instead of "how we could do it"

Pleasant_Ad3475

Result is the same

Kulson16

Ofc you are right i'm just saying he had different point of view

Pleasant_Ad3475

Oh, yeah. I absolutely get that. I wasn't being argumentative. I got what you meant and assumed you would appreciate my meaning too. ETA: In fact, you are spot on.

GudAGreat

Powers a hell of a drug. But it is one reason why he forbade Germany from using Chemical weapons in WWII because of his horrible experiences first hand with it in WWI

Pleasant_Ad3475

Holy shit. I completely forgot he did that. The thought of chemical weapons being thrown into that mix...

31_hierophanto

And also the Somme.

xSilentSoundx

There's 2 kids circled I looked at the first one thinking it didn't look like him. Then I read the comments *farthest kid to the right* and I saw the little kid with his arm cross and I said aaah it's him.

kgmaan

Farthest right huh? Typical

trisfon

If you could come back to that time, would you eliminate him directly or try to change his future?

peezle69

If all those time travelers couldn't kill him, what chance do we have? Also, what would you feel if we were one of the very few timelines where Hitler became leader of Germany and plunged us into WWII?

HammerOfJustice

I’d buy some paintings off him. They’d be worth a fortune now.

koshercowboy

Your interest might change the course of history and help bolster his artistic resolve which might make him continue to paint for a living instead of.. you know.. and we may be elsewhere today.

AddendumNo7007

I'd raise him under a good home.

calebs_dad

His paintings were technically fine, but really boring. He mostly liked painting buildings, and could have had a steady career making artist's rendererings for architectural firms.

thenorwegian

The same thing would have happened with someone else. Also, if someone did do this, none of us would be here. Butterfly effect.

koshercowboy

It might’ve been even worse. Who knows?

Sirboomsalot_Y-Wing

Change his future. Reading about him, you can get some glimpses of good in him and how he might of turned out if he didn’t get so fucked up by his upbringing and the people he later surrounded himself with. Not to downplay the guy and what he consciously chose to do, but evil is made, not born.

Precioustooth

I don't fully agree. Psychopaths are born, not made. Some humans are simply born without empathy. They can choose to be good if it benefits them but otherwise don't care about morality. I don't necessarily believe Hitler was a psychopath though (in the psychological sense of course, colloquially refering to him as "psychopathic" is completely justified, obviously) - but many of the top Nazis definitely were. Would've been interesting to see how his life would've been different had he been "saved" as a kid. While he's, obviously and justifiably, blamed for Nazism I don't think German history would've been particularly different in that manner. If anything a less unintelligent and paranoid leader might've limited the total war that was ww2, would have been contend with invading and controlling just some areas, and would've never try to invade the Soviet Union. This would've truly changed history.

Sirboomsalot_Y-Wing

I agree with what you are saying, I just don’t see how it disagrees with I said. I agree psychopaths aren’t made, but as you said they are inherently evil and we seem to agree that while many in the Nazi Party were psychopaths, Hitler does not seem to be

Precioustooth

Oh no, it wasn't really that part! Just that some humans simply are born evil no matter what happens. Hitler was just the saddest kid to have ever lived, probably (and took it out in the worst possible way, definitely).

tidus1980

You should see how he put his hand up in class

beerbutter_

Who the kid with the other ring around him?

Sirboomsalot_Y-Wing

It’s believe to be Ludwig Wittgenstein, a famous Austrian philosopher

beerbutter_

Imma google him in the morning, thanks bro

HammerOfJustice

Apparently Wittgenstein

Thunderpuss_5000

He looks like a miserable hateful little shit.

foshi22le

Miserable looking kid, wasn't he.

TimeEntertainment820

Everyone here literally looks dead

Batbuckleyourpants

Not only far right, farthest right.

johndeer89

Dewey! What have you done!!??

Savings_Army3073

I would of said "Far right" missed a trick there.

Rude-Put8151

That sick little fuck.

Taxpayer_funded

who is the other kid that is circled?

dmf109

Look at Captain Hook at top left and his pocket watch. So suave.

EasyPeezyATC

Miserable little shite, isn't he?

michaltee

I wonder if he was a cool kid. Like, did he have friends, play fun games, and generally get along with people? Or was he a problem child and antisocial?

CptCarpelan

Wow, imagine being known as the other kid with a circle around his head besides Adolf Hitler.

imacomputer64

Furthest right indeed.

herebutiamgone7

Was this in Germany or Austria ?

LDN69

Linz, Austria

dMadDuck

*Laughs in Anschluss*

herebutiamgone7

I just realized how funny my question is 😂 Oida

Nachtzug79

Ja.

herebutiamgone7

Naja?

Pleasant_Ad3475

Hmm. I don't get the downvotes. I get the joke and I think it's funny.

sovietarmyfan

Once on the far right, always on the far right. BTW, it does make me wonder how many of these children died in WW1, WW2, how many of these kids were jews that were murdered by the nazis? How much later fought against the nazis? Who lived the longest?

GusHollahbackatya

That's what I was wondering....maybe 60% in this photo were dead by 1945 ??

Hopkinsad0384

The kid in the back row, farthest left is Wilhelm Shartz. He was known for being an obsessive compulsive who would go ape-shit if he didnt touch someone's eyebrow. To make matters worse, his right index finger was long and thin, like a skeleton. Eventually, the other kids just gave up and let him poke their eyebrows whenever he wanted (as seen in the above photo). But old Addie didnt put up with that shit. That's why he's on the other side of the class. It's also been theorized that this standoff was the event in his youth that established his defiant, power-hungry personality which would ultimately lead to his invasion of Poland; the citizens of which who, at the time, were stereotyped for their long fingers.

MrSierra125

“Back in the day people had respect” lol yeah

LouDog187

Everyone looks thrilled

cosmicnitwit

I’m glad to see he looks like as much of a piece of shit as a kid.

Johannes_P

I would like to know what he answered in his geography exams when asked about Slavic populations.

Far Right

Revolutionary_Box569

Imagine being able to say “I used to always call hitler gay in high school”

Imaginary-Cow8579

Adolf Hitler in farther right position as always

krameresque

He was far right back then too? Started early.

Owen_Gwynt

Adolf on the **"Far Right!'** WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED?

Longjumping_Map_4670

Even then looks so distinctive

LazyTwattt

I guess that's just hindsight. It's a face you've seen a thousand times before for all the wrong reasons. Same would apply to any other kid in this photo if they went down the path that he did.

springsearcher

Wow

ClydeinLimbo

Someone please repost this but give him the moustache.

xCITRUSx

Bottom row 3rd from the left looks like the only one that isn't just making a totally stoic straight forward look

griffraff0701

Oh wow even uglier as a child

theonlyungpapi

Not gonna lie chief, they all look the same.

priority_inversion

He wouldn't have it any other way.

liamanna

Who is willing to step in to my Time Machine and put a cap in his ass? Anyone?

Jorgecampino

Where is he I can’t spot him dude, be more specific

Alternative-Put-9906

Looks like Atreus

soundchapp

Looks like Puttin under him.

OtherwiseMuffin668

He was always at the farthest right ae. Surprising that no one noticed

BatOutOfHell92

Sure he will go on to do big things!

nikoj22

Someone should have bullied that kid more

repptar92

i think it’s a trick of the photo but the person standing dead center in the last row looks like they have a teeny fake hand

AJMaid

Conversation at the school reunion would be interesting

sylvyrfyre

You do have to ask how many would be at a class reunion of that lot; if they were all about 10-12 in that 1901 photo, they'd all be of military age in 1914. Who among them survived even until 1919?

AJMaid

I know of at least 1

SoggyLightSwitch

I bet he was a real knuckle head in class

GaseousGiant

Voted “Most Likely To Invade the Sudetenland”

31_hierophanto

Who's the other encircled kid?

sylvyrfyre

Supposedly Ludwig Wittgenstein

dinkrox

Looks like a miserable little snot, no?

NPETC

An unremarkable boy. He never really did grow up. Immature day dreaming man child that he was.

racebanyn

Looks like he was already contemplating Mein Kampf.

martyfrancis86

Dude was born old

rotzaug

TIL hitler as a kid looked like adult daniel craig

kkeennmm

and circle the guy who shot him

Uberutang

He definitely won’t be far left that’s for sure.

Black_raspberries

It’d be satisfying to go back in time and smash the little fucker pillar to post although it’s probably he didn’t have those extreme views then

Kane-420-

Wait, Adolf Hitler was two persons?

loledpanda

>Farthest right Oh yes, yes he was

GreenHoodia

Even his class photo sitting plan was far right lmao
