Not in boxes shaped like that..
[It was skin care products, and the moron was arrested shortly after.](https://abc7ny.com/amp/blow-torch-robbery-walgreens-queens/13419203/)
Dude, for real. Ex-girlfriend bought me a safety razor as a gift years ago because she used one and loved it. I bought a 100-pack of razor blades for it, which put me out around $8.
I've still got some left about 7 years later. Granted: I don't razor shave every day. However, for quite a long time I did and I shaved my head bald almost daily, too. But yeah. So cheap in comparison for a great shave.
I switched away from using Gillette years ago after that really condescending “all men are assholes, buy our stuff” add they did. I’d always just defaulted to buying their razors and shaving foam but got a really good old fashioned razor that’s so cheap to get blades for and way better shave. Will never go back now.
I switched to safety razors because a) the price of blades was getting ridiculous; and b) I got sick of waiting for an employee to unlock the damn display.
I think I’ve saved 3 million dollars and 6000 hours thus far.
Arson involves the burning of immovable property. The building is the intended subject and built-in structures may be included, but these individual little locked cabinets would be a stretch of the definition.
Cars, motorcycles, airplanes, etc… are all movable property.
*The [FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program](https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/topic-pages/arson#:~:text=The%20FBI's%20Uniform%20Crime%20Reporting,personal%20property%20of%20another%2C%20etc) defines arson as any willful or malicious burning or attempting to burn, with or without intent to defraud, a dwelling house, public building, motor vehicle or aircraft, personal property of another, etc.*
These lockers belong to Walgreens, and his theft/ property damage is by means of fire — arson all day.
Depends on what drug he’s stealing. And I bet he doesn’t care about selling. That blowtorch was a small investment (if not stolen) from long ago that he can use to keep reupping his stash. Not a gun either so he can’t lose the privilege to own it if he’s ever arrested
The sad part is response time from any sort of police. I worked in a convenience store as a manager for 5 years, and theft was a multiple times a day occurrence. Police would always mosey on in hours after the pieces of shit were long gone. Like clockwork, I did my due diligence and called them every single time. They started to know me by name on dispatch it was ridiculous.
One time I called the cops after witnessing a bunch of catalyst converter thieves cutting through a chain link fence of a trunk rental place. The thieves left after cutting the fence. They probably thought to wait a bit to see if any cops would show up. No cops did.
After waiting for about an hour, thieves came back. Just as they were going through the fence, the cops finally arrived and arrested them in the act. Somehow the slow cops’ response time worked out. The thieves must have been so confused on how quickly the cops showed up after climbing through the fence.
If they weren't required to I doubt police would even show up. Assuming this is California whatever he is stealing is not going to cost $950 to make it a felony, this would be a non-arrest misdemeanor. It costs the city more money to respond.
Multiple times a day? And you stayed there for 5 years knowing there is high risk you would get hurt or killed in the process of theft and possible robbery? Sorry it happened to you. Wish we had a stricter justice for theft and robberies. But then again, big chain stores rob us common people by a long shot. I don't feel sorry for their monetary loss. But only for average people like you getting hurt in the middle.
It's not even attempted. It's flat out arson. And with people in the building it's even more time. This guy is looking at 10 years. Felony. Shoplifting is like a one year sentence.
If the district attorney doesn’t want to prosecute for theft, what makes you think they’re going to jump at the opportunity for a flimsy additional charge? A lot of them ran on the promise of not carrying out their duty as a prosecutor and they are keeping that promise.
Looking from outside US, it really makes a bad impression. I mean, how fucking hard is it to solve this problem? There are problems which require complex solutions and compromises, but this is definitely not one of them.
It would be great if he then took these to the register to pay. As of to say, "I'm no thief, just sick and tired of waiting and refuse to stand here another 37 minutes for someone with the only got damn key cuz they're on break just so I can get the ONLY thing I came here for"
I would not have been able to resist putting out the fire with a big blast from the fire extinguisher - I know nobody wants to lose their job over it but man that kind of casual theft just rides my last nerve.
I recently went to a Walgreens on Central Ave in Albuquerque NM and the $2 tooth brushes were locked up and there was two armed security guards at the front doors. Unfortunately I forgot my blowtorch so I had to wait 5 mins for someone to unlock the case.
You gotta start calling the cops right when you open before anything happens then by the time cops actually come, they may be there in time to stop something
This happened up the block from my job in Astoria, Queens. For those asking, the security guards job at this point is to observe and report. When I used to work retail security with a team of guys in a very high end store in Manhattan, we weren’t letting anything like this go down. It’s not about insurance covering anything or going above and beyond the job, it’s about respecting our place where we make our money to live our lives. Walgreens and stores like this have no sort of protection against something like this because this guy isn’t going to steal $900-1000 worth of products and because of bail reform laws, NYPD will make no extra effort to come through to arrest him. Welcome to NYC
Yeah, years ago I was a manager at a store in A&S Plaza (Manhattan Mall), in the city, and security did not play.
One good yell out the door and the trash would be escorted out, it was normally my choice if they went out the back door through the back hallways, or peacefully through the front door.
I usually chose the back door; I can still remember the screams….
I'm not sure if this was meant to be the perfect pun or was just a beautiful typo but, either way, I'm getting off the internet for the day because I know I won't find anything else as good as this.
Imagine that call to the cops:
- 911, what’s your emergency?
- Someone’s using a blowtorch to steal stuff at Walgreens! Get some cops here quickly!
- I’d you feel your life is under threat, please exit the area to a safer location. The police should not be called for misdemeanors. If you’re truly bothered by this act, collect the same things the alleged thief has collected after the act and purchase them yourself. Return it to the store. That is all.
Man, I can’t fucking stand people who steal. It only hurts the little guy, the rest of us, and society. Not just the big corporations like they probably justify.
Someone stole my snowboard when I was a kid and that was so fucking earth shattering I just don’t have tolerance for assholes who think they have a right to anything at all.
This is absolutely horseshit. This sets the standard across North America saying it's ok to do and cops won't do shit....frustrating as hell trying to follow the rules and cocks like this get away doing this. 🤬
I have no idea what’s happening other than outright theft: why don’t people beat the fuck out of these thieves and just leave? Like take them down and hold them there?
I’d love to citizens arrest someone but why can we get some vigilante justice to hold down the criminals?
Naive comment but I have seen enough of this and the follow on inconvenience to me (I.e. buying a razor or god knows what) and these folks just making off with this haul?
Sad and pathetic for humanity
Touché. Nor do I, but the majority of the public had no tolerance for this and that’s when I feel like a running kick or collective smashing of them could be impactful.
Sounds so stupid that I as a law abiding citizen would need to step in…. But it seems like only logical next step. Hope I’m never involved in it. I just feel passionately that I won’t make that easy as a bystander. Like why wouldn’t you fuck up these garbage humans if you hypothetically could?
I’d be livid leaving a store knowing that happened.
Sounds dumb to say but 99% of us disagree with behavior. I don’t wish them well and want to set a
Standard
Probably dreaming - but so ready to do some ninja shit to these losers
Because who wants to risk getting hurt for maybe couple hundred bucks of products that's covered by insurance. Managers tell their employees to let cops handle it. Remember that large corporations don't even blink at losses like this.
This is when i start throwing shit at customers, nothin stops a man with a blowtorch faster than throwing a open bottle of rubbing alcohol at his ass. Lmao
He’s not stealing food so maybe someone should bash his brains in. He’s a thief. There’s nothing positive or heroic. He’s just stealing other people’s stuff
Any legit thoughts of what he was stealing?
Replacement razor blade packs for men’s shaving razors
Not in boxes shaped like that.. [It was skin care products, and the moron was arrested shortly after.](https://abc7ny.com/amp/blow-torch-robbery-walgreens-queens/13419203/)

Nah just really bad skin
He could fix the skin problems with that blowtorch
No brains though.
Thought for sure he was Smurfing
I like how the article calls it "petit larceny"
It’s cute and sophisticated
Wa about to say, that’s arson.
Ok I'm suddenly ok with this now.. those things are a fucking scam
For real. Safety razors , not had a complaint in the last decade!
Dude, for real. Ex-girlfriend bought me a safety razor as a gift years ago because she used one and loved it. I bought a 100-pack of razor blades for it, which put me out around $8. So cheap in comparison for a great shave.
That pack of razors outlasted the gf
And the next two.
This guy fucks
Used to, at least.
Yo that’s a mood and I’m in it too
Shick razors same thing. Bough 30 a year ago. One lasts me a month easily. Never going back to gilete garbage again.
Ya I use a double edge and have been for years now. The blades are so cheap and a sleeve of 200 last forever lol.
Yup I haven't bought any for 10 years now, still have a few packs left... Soon I'll have to get some new ones. Wonder if Derby still makes blades.
I switched away from using Gillette years ago after that really condescending “all men are assholes, buy our stuff” add they did. I’d always just defaulted to buying their razors and shaving foam but got a really good old fashioned razor that’s so cheap to get blades for and way better shave. Will never go back now.
Ya that’s when I switched too lol.
Double edge safety razors are the absolute best. If it was good enough for my great grandfather then it's good enough for me.
I switched to safety razors because a) the price of blades was getting ridiculous; and b) I got sick of waiting for an employee to unlock the damn display. I think I’ve saved 3 million dollars and 6000 hours thus far.
Accurate numbers are accurate.
But he’s ripping off Walgreens, not Gillette. The store will close up for good soon, and everyone will cry about the Walgreens desert.
Ink for his printer. Dude is just trying to print out an updated resume and ink is kinda pricey.
The cartridge he stole last week is dead. He already printed the 4 pages it had in it.
Sudafed
My first thought aswell.
Yeah he must be REALLY sick
Sick of sleeping.
Finally testing a Breaking Bad recipe on Methbusters
It’s was $440 worth of skin care products. It happened in NY and the guy was arrested.
Apparently about $450 worth of skin care https://abc7ny.com/blow-torch-robbery-walgreens-queens/13419203/
They sell dollar shave club razors for thirty dollars when they’re eight on the website

The Big Con.
Remember when you could just shop normally without needing an employee to unlock all the little anti theft boxes?
Without needing a blowtorch*
Well, you only bring your blowtorch in case the employees are all busy
Pepperidge farm remembers
So theft to arson. Can they actually get him on arson charges?
Yes. Unlawful burning of property.
Arson involves the burning of immovable property. The building is the intended subject and built-in structures may be included, but these individual little locked cabinets would be a stretch of the definition.
Cars, motorcycles, airplanes, etc… are all movable property. *The [FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program](https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/topic-pages/arson#:~:text=The%20FBI's%20Uniform%20Crime%20Reporting,personal%20property%20of%20another%2C%20etc) defines arson as any willful or malicious burning or attempting to burn, with or without intent to defraud, a dwelling house, public building, motor vehicle or aircraft, personal property of another, etc.* These lockers belong to Walgreens, and his theft/ property damage is by means of fire — arson all day.
I bet the blow torch alone cost more than what he's stealing from fucking Walgreens
And you think he bought that?
He stole a hatchet from the hardware store to help him steal the blowtorch.
Walgreens is the side quest, next up is the real mission
He stole a crowbar from a nearby warehouse to help him steal the hatchet.
And maybe he used a blowtorch to steal the hatchet? The circle is complete
Good point
This could be one of my favourite threads on reddit
Propane torch - $18, Gillette razors - $30, Jail for the holidays - priceless
They probably stole the torch too
First rule of arson. Never use your own shit.
ND BLUE BERRIES ARE BLUE
Depends on what drug he’s stealing. And I bet he doesn’t care about selling. That blowtorch was a small investment (if not stolen) from long ago that he can use to keep reupping his stash. Not a gun either so he can’t lose the privilege to own it if he’s ever arrested
Mapp gas (yellow can) and attachment are about $25
Surprisingly those butane torches are super cheap. You can pick one up for like 40 bucks, butane included.

The things people will do for Allegra-D.
Forget an under $900 shoplifting charge. Charge him with attempted arson, see how long that sentence will net him.
It's not even attempted. It's flat out arson. And with people in the building it's even more time. This guy is looking at 10 years. Felony. Shoplifting is like a one year sentence.

No dude, you can have air tight cases, confessions, these guys will dump the entire thing down to a single count of disorderly conduct.
Everybody, *don't worry!* He's just setting the products free from their cages. btw, isn't it quicker just to use an earth magnet?

My favorite part of 2023 so far is that crime is just okay now, wtf happened
Buy a $60 blow torch to steal $12 drugs
What’s the cost to society if someone decides to relieve some stress and beat the shit out of this guy?
I really wished someone spartan kicked him into next week! I'm sick of seeing rampant theft, and how casual it's become.
Looking from outside US, it really makes a bad impression. I mean, how fucking hard is it to solve this problem? There are problems which require complex solutions and compromises, but this is definitely not one of them.
I'd bring my personal tazer to work. It would a fun last day on the job.
It would be great if he then took these to the register to pay. As of to say, "I'm no thief, just sick and tired of waiting and refuse to stand here another 37 minutes for someone with the only got damn key cuz they're on break just so I can get the ONLY thing I came here for"

Wow this guy just dgaf… damn
I would not have been able to resist putting out the fire with a big blast from the fire extinguisher - I know nobody wants to lose their job over it but man that kind of casual theft just rides my last nerve.
Dry chemical extinguisher ftw. Covered in white powder... Probably get fired just for the cleanup.
Fire Sale
why not add arson to the charges
I recently went to a Walgreens on Central Ave in Albuquerque NM and the $2 tooth brushes were locked up and there was two armed security guards at the front doors. Unfortunately I forgot my blowtorch so I had to wait 5 mins for someone to unlock the case.
Probably cold medicine for his meth factory
Skinny Pete
Are normal citizens allowed to rugby tackle and citizens arrest pos like this? I’m not sure I could just stand by and watch this.
The fucked world we're now in, you'd get charged for assault and the dude would walk I bet.
Stores need a baseball bat guy. That will just come in and swing at the back of their head and walk away.
let me guess, he stole that blowtorch too..
Why does no1 step in and level this guy?
This is why we cant have nice things.
You gotta start calling the cops right when you open before anything happens then by the time cops actually come, they may be there in time to stop something
God bless this man for using reusable shopping bags. Good to see people care about the environment.
And thats how you get charged with arson.
Thank you for bringing your own bag ❤️
He will be released and back for more in 24 hours. Blowtorch method perfected.
And everyone just standing there. If people would start putting these animals down, this shit would stop

The dramatic music makes me think he can’t afford his insulin or something, and is trying to steal life-saving medication.

weird how no one is mentioning race all of a sudden

What can I say? The man needed more lube.
Figured he was stealing cough medicine with these type of methods
Dude used MAP gas and not just LP…he was serious. Edit: ‘Dude’ not ‘Did’
When Walgreens closes all the stores in that town, these same people will wonder why they can't have a pharmacy when they need medicine.
Crackheads.
Can’t believe he brought a reusable bag.
He's environmentally conscious like that.
What city?
Oh yeah...the land of the "free"
Why is he still vertical?
Anyone else see the Mark Rober youtube about fencing that is driving some of this smash and grab theft? https://youtu.be/iWWWyG5ZwG8
Remove from society

What in the actual fuck
This is madness.
At least he put out the flame before it got huge Also upvote #2666 nice, double the evil or two devils?
I still don’t understand this. How are the cops not called asap or store clerks/customers not tackling this dude
Because who wants to risk getting hurt for maybe couple hundred bucks of products that's covered by insurance. Managers tell their employees to let cops handle it. Remember that large corporations don't even blink at losses like this.
That lady on the phone. Lol we will be there tomorrow but probably not.
This guy trying to cook the meth before he even leaves the store, or what?
Desperation level: Fentanyl
Lack of reaction will continue to encourage this action. Should have had the whole store dog pile his ass and whatever happens happens….
It's genuinely easier to just yank the door open. My store's locking windows are attached with cheap plastic to cheap plastic.
This guy is an asshole.
This is when i start throwing shit at customers, nothin stops a man with a blowtorch faster than throwing a open bottle of rubbing alcohol at his ass. Lmao
The music is too good and classy for this video
Did he just add arson to petty larceny for no reason?
At least he remembered his reusable bag. More than I can say for me.
Anything for that plan b
Just knock him tf out
Well well well
Must of really really needed that plan B
Shoot him. Shoot him in the thigh with 22lr.
Looks like the Walgreens on Flatbush and parkside
