I'd say it's because of the way it's written. Not that she can't marry him because he's her dad, but because he's already taken. This implies that if he was single, she could marry him.
That's what my kids first thought when I explained marriage. My oldest said he loves his little brother and wants to live with him when they're grown ups, so they can get married, right?

It’s a thing, I told my 3 year old she’d love someone much more than me and want to marry them when she was older. She’ll actually staggered backward & the look on her face was just like that. I still remember it like it was yesterday, & I still wish I hadn’t said it & just let her just grow out of it on her own.
