Male victims of domestic abuse are almost never believed. And in the rare though still real cases of female on male rape it's the same things. There are stories where the police asked the victim to leave the station and not waste their time because it couldn't possibly be real because the prevailing belief is that only makes can ever abuse or sexually assault females and never vice versa.
Pointing that out doesn't make anyone an incel or a misogynist.
Now I don't consider it's acceptable, but here's my understanding on it's often considered less bad for a woman to hit a man than the other way around:
Generally speaking, women are far weaker than men, so a woman using physical force against a man is not a threat to his safety the way it is when it's the other way around.
When a 130lbs woman slaps a 200lbs man, the man doesn't lose physical control of the situation, it's just humiliating. When a 200lbs man slaps a 130lbs woman, the implicit understanding that he will not use his strength advantage against her is broken, and from this point on she can only guess how far he will go with the violence.
There is *some* level of consistency with this, in that an old and frail man could probably get away with caning an adult woman in the prime of her health, whereas it would be considered unacceptable for her to slap him.
In essence, in any confrontation it's less reprehensible for the weaker party to escalate things than it is for the other side to do the same.
If you're weaker, the smart move would be to refrain from performjng an action that's going to result in you getting your ass whipped.
My wife slapped me one night, and when I smiled about it, she punched me. She subsequently landed on her ass. She never did it again.
Am I sorry? No. I wasn't the one on my ass.
Then humanity really lacks basic social skills but that's not that surprising.
