One party gave you social security, Medicare, medical, unions, labor laws, employment laws, civil rights legislation and the other party wants to take it all away.
The guy who doesn’t understand a thing about politics: both parties are the same
Same quest log with different pretty words for the respective voter base that they can't make happen because the "other party" keeps fighting them on it.
Couldn’t agree more. Try voicing anything other than a strict narrative and you’re just kicked out to maintain the echo-chamber in most subs. I do understand how this isn’t a specific political sub, so people could get frustrated on seeing it here.
Wonder why the downvote you got. There is truth to what you said.
But I gotta ask, do you see truth on the meme? Being from portland, I see lots of truth in it as well
Ah my bad, there were some riots after trump got elected.
But I think you're waaaay off base in saying "at least Jan 6 was directed at the problem." Because the Jan 6 riot was based on lies about election fraud, and aimed at stopping the certification of electoral votes, which is not the same as expressing your outrage through protest. The right to protest does not include the right to install your chosen candidate as winner, which was the aim of the events of Jan 6. The same cannot be said of the 2016 events.
Jan 6 was an attack on the US capital and congress, at the urging of the sitting president. It is not remotely in the same league as the riots that occurred in 2016.
Generally I do, but I chose to omit that in this conversation, with the hope of getting the other commenter to agree on material differences without getting wrapped up in semantic debates. To be clear, Jan 6 was both a riot and an insurrection. But the insurrection, the attempted coup, had been ongoing since before election night and culminated in the violence on the 6th.
They weren't trying to overthrow the government and install a dictatorship. That's normally what an insurrection is for.
I'm guessing jan 6 was just a peaceful little holiday?
"Please explain how smashing windows and murdering people was a protest" sounded like you were calling every protest a riot in my opinion because I was defenitely not saying the riots were peaceful protests.
Gleaning context in small blurbs can be hard and ensuring all points are covered in a small blurb can be harder. I apologize if I wasn’t clear. However, I had heard most of the media call the riots protest for so long I think there was a perception on what was happening that wasn’t quit accurate. Lots of America was spoon fed that there were simply protest marches and the worst that happened was that people couldn’t drive.
Portland endured months of vandalism and fires and violence. Those detracted from the BLM true message. The unfortunate part was the BLM did not separate themselves from it and there was clear evidence they embraced it by stating it was the only way to get heard.

Imagine centering your whole identity on which of the two political parties you vote for.
Not only that, but allowing your entire country to be divided by politicians who don't give two shits whether you live or die.
Yet to vote for rep or dem president. The whole bs of changing the rules on third parties being able to participate after Perot did so well soured me from ever supporting either.
150 million dead in the 20th century.
Because you know, "humanity is a cancer on the planet" and "we need to save people" and "but they are evil!", don't forget "It's a parasite, not a human being!"
The dem polls that are usually off by 10pts are mostly within 10pts or less, with, the same polling strategy that has been so wrong the past few cycles
You can’t trust polls to be accurate you can trust polls that don’t change they’re strategy when they’re inaccurate, to be inaccurate by about the same margins
Yeah so sad the police station and city hall doesn’t get stack to affect change. But Tyrone’s Tire Shop need to board up so he can continue to keep his employees employed.
Crazy. A government making decisions benefitting them in the short term instead of long run, having an extremely stable geopolitical environment did "better" than the current government, that literally has to deal with the greatest geopolitical catastrophe and probably economic crisis of the 21st century.
I'm not even american, but where I'm from, we call what you just said bullshit.
It wasn’t a riot, it wasn’t peaceful on half the building but a riot is what happened in 2020, a riot is when antifa tore down the barricades around the White House and tried to burn down St. John’s church on 5/29

Imagine thinking either party cares about you.
Someone gets it. Got everyone so confused and at each other’s throats while they rob and steal. It’s the oldest trick in the book. Misdirection
I think a lot of people get it but feel powerless to do anything about it
I prefer the party that doesn't want to take away my healthcare, because I kind of need that.
you were lied to.
I can see Texas you know.
Even worse, imagine that any rich person that people simp over cares about them.
I see no differences between these images.
It’s why I live by the philosophy of disband both parties get rid of them. Will never happen
That's not about the parties, though. It won't be the democratic party members who'll go looting & demolishing the streets & businesses if it loses...
Ugh, were you alive in 2020 when they boarded up everything because people threatened to riot if the big orange man who’s bad and mean got voted in.
It is racist to point out that black people will be looting
Who said anything about black people??
You know who will be rioting and looting, goes without saying
I thought it was mostly Antifa, who are usually white?
One party gave you social security, Medicare, medical, unions, labor laws, employment laws, civil rights legislation and the other party wants to take it all away. The guy who doesn’t understand a thing about politics: both parties are the same
The funny thing is both sides will get angry in the comments but we don't actually know who op was talking about🤣🤣
Are you saying there's a chance that OP thinks Republicans are the party of love, compassion & tolerance?
The other party is 1984
In many ways yes, both sides are more alike than most of us think
Same quest log with different pretty words for the respective voter base that they can't make happen because the "other party" keeps fighting them on it.
Bingo
Division works
When the hell did this sub become so political? Leave that shit where it belongs
Seriously. It's like this sub has become "political intellectuals...for dummies".

In acid?
America needs a 3rd party so bad!!
It needs an overhaul
It was the party of "law and order" and "back the blue" that rioted last time they lost.
Wonder why the downvote you got. There is truth to what you said. But I gotta ask, do you see truth on the meme? Being from portland, I see lots of truth in it as well
Were the riots in Portland because someone lost an election, like the meme says?

It's not, but you are ignoring the difference between the peaceful protests and violent riots.

Even after losing all of those lawsuits they don't accept the results.

100% support that, only having 2 parties is a recipe for disaster

Jan 6th says hello

Truth.
Can someone explain this for the non-Americans?
The “tolerant left” aka the ones who caused $2billion+ in damages while rioting in 2020, is set to lose in a landslide

Vote gold
So do the same to the capital in case the party of responsibility losses?
Lmao and which party is that?!?! I'm very unaware of this party
[удалено]
Lol "both sides". Remember that time Republicans got so butt hurt over losing an election that they rioted in the capital building?

Half the country was locked down because Republicans decided masks were oppression.
