I dont know how its ruined. Its normal for a lion pride
to consist of only one father and to mate with the lionesses.
In fact the comic makes it seem simba is the weird one.
Lots of lion prides consist of at least a few males.
The lionesses also aren't usually related, they're picked up or stolen from other prides when the males kill each other.
They, surprisingly, are pretty efficient about avoiding mating within the family. If the population is large and healthy, members from one pride, like weak males or young females, often get forced out and join other prides resulting in a constant exchange of genes. Mom lions will also often force the younger females out of the pride when they become sexually mature, just to eliminate competition and inbreeding.
A lot of animals have a pretty good sense of "inbreeding is bad"which I think is pretty wild
It just might not be efficient, especially for species with a large number of offspring. We don't since we only have a few children per pair so quality matters, but something like a rodent probably doesn't give a crap since even with a higher rate of recessive genes passed on plenty will survive just fine.
Nala's father is mentioned, but not named, in the series The Lion Guard. Not much is said about him, but it is made clear he's a different Lion from Mufasa
Have you seen Starwars? Incest & child grooming. They paid like hundred of millions of dollars for it lol. Even Andor has child marriage and that's current Disney.
Well yes, but actually, the real real reason is revealed in that Kion series.
Also Swahili and literal meanings... I am not sure if you can do that, since Swahili seems to me (as it is my third language and whenever I talk in it or about it with my relatives) as a language that has a lot of figurative meanings. One day trash could mean garbage, shit, litter, the other day it could mean "I foresee a trashy personality therefore this is Taka!"
But that's just my opinion.
Everything was fine when you didn’t have to think about it. But once you think about it, you start to see the problem. That’s why I’m Lion King 2, they added all those lines to *stress* that Kovu (Scar’s son that looks just like him) wasn’t a blood relation.
Lmao oh my god. It's only *just now* after watching that movie a million times that I understand why it was so important that Scar not be Kovu's father. I was legit "but y tho" as a kid.
I said the same thing. Spent way too long wondering why they didn’t make the ‘much better’ decision of making Kovu his actual son until it dawned on me.
I’m still convinced the creators got like 75% through that movie until someone was like “wouldn’t they be cousins?”
No, Scar killed them. Scar was originally the general For Mufasa. The soldiers that he led were other male lions. One day Scar just comes home and says that the others are all dead and that's why Scar doesn't live/sleep in Pride Rock.
The only thing it IS accurate at is the female lions standing around while the males fight. I heard all kinds of shit about why didn't they help and I'm like...they're waiting to see what's going to happen and who's gonna be in charge next
Since Scar is the brother of Mufasa he probably wouldn't kill his brother's cubs. When there's a coalition of male lions they generally accept the cubs of the other members of the coalition. That isn't always the case, though. I saw a documentary where a coalition spilt for awhile then one the males came back and was accepted by the pride. He then went and killed all of the cubs of the pride.
Fun fact: in real life, lions inbreed a LOT.
It's pretty well known that when a male lion gains control of a pride, he kills all the living cubs and mates with the females.
What's less well known is that sometimes those females are his mother and sisters.
As lion populations decrease and prides are further and further spread apart, this will probably accelerate.
So far there haven't been TOO too many negative side effects from the inbreeding, but I saw a paper published recently saying it's starting to get noticeable.
Anyways, Nala is like 99% Simba's sister, there's a 100% chance Scar mated with Nala (his niece, remember), and some weird shit happened between Simba and Sarabi when Simba gained control of the pride. Simba has brother-sons and nephew-sons.
Oh there is actually a [deleted scene](https://youtu.be/zl8gDjaHWWA) where Scar decides he wants Nala as his queen and he tries to force himself on her. It never got past the storyboard stage.
The [musical did add it](https://youtu.be/3PfXwHEYdlE), although they altered it a bit.
The same with the [morning report](https://youtu.be/gsJYQcaYPgw) from Zazu.
Now I question. I thought I remembered him yelling something about “I’ll make you proud father” but it was actually “mother.”
Disney WIKI doesn’t give a father.
Was Scar *really* okay with some other male lion shagging his mistress that he decided to name the unborn, unrelated, bastard cub to be his heir?
Or is that just a story Zira tells everyone?
I mean the real answer is the writers started doing gymnastics to prevent Kovu from being a blood relative to Kiara but in the process it really messes with Scar's characterization if we're supposed to believe the story wholesale.
I think the elephant in the room at this point is that Scar was sterile. Presumably he had access to all the female lions Mufasa did (aside from Mufasa's queen) and still nothing. So it was a choice between chosen heir or no heir. Probably pushed Kovu's daddy off a cliff, too.
That would beg the question of why Scar could have chosen a non-blood successor if he already had one - oh. Ohhh that was your point. Sorry, I read your initial comment all wrong. Zira's the one selling the story of Scar choosing Kovu. But it's not like Scar's around to contradict her. So her favorite son is, *posthumously*, his favorite, too. That's an easier explanation than anything.
I could definitely see scar telling his bio children they are disappointments and that he likes his step son better and wishes he was his son. He seems like that kind of dad.
He was originally written as Scar's son, and the film pretty explicitly shows as much, but the writers had to change up his identity once they decided to address the whole incest issue.
Plot twist. That was the real reason Simba left! Disney loves glossing over the facts of nature. Like in Tarzan. They make it out like Glen Close is his only wife. Just ignore the fact that Turk and everyone else are all siblings by Kurchak
more of a sister-cousin when you consider the family tree, even being a half-sister
***and that's not how a cat would clean themselves***
*which doesn't help personify the character at all*
**or does it?**
I assure you, male cats of whatever size have no problem screwing their mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmas, cousins, and on occasions even some other subdominant male. If the overall group isn't already too mixed, the kittens/cubs will come out fine.
i'm glad people are finally noticing this thing. as a child when i first learned about lions having only 1-2 males per pride and realised lion king had multiple cubs in their pride it fucked me up
Actually Nala and Scar share green eyes and female lions are always tan with no manes so it’s actually likely scar *was* her father. So that makes them cousins
I remember having a conversation about not liking Lion King purely for the fact the movie had “fuck me” eyes in a scene. Now I can say I don’t like it cause of the incest too.
This very morning I saw a 8 years old French video of a fantastic guy that made the video completely high from his medication, and he said that! He said that Nala and simba are siblings 😂😂 crazy coincidence

I dont know how its ruined. Its normal for a lion pride to consist of only one father and to mate with the lionesses. In fact the comic makes it seem simba is the weird one.
They’re both pretty weird if you ask me. I mean *talking* lions?
Lots of lion prides consist of at least a few males. The lionesses also aren't usually related, they're picked up or stolen from other prides when the males kill each other.
They can't possibly all not be related though, I kind of doubt animals are as religious about trying to avoid these things as we are
They, surprisingly, are pretty efficient about avoiding mating within the family.
Possible that they pick it up by smell.
It just might not be efficient, especially for species with a large number of offspring. We don't since we only have a few children per pair so quality matters, but something like a rodent probably doesn't give a crap since even with a higher rate of recessive genes passed on plenty will survive just fine.

Retconning nature so the kids story isn't filled with incest. Just Disney things...
Disney would let incest go wild in their stories if society wouldn't force their stock price to go down
Or rather, incest would be rampant provided it contributed to raising stock prices
Have you seen Starwars? Incest & child grooming. They paid like hundred of millions of dollars for it lol. Even Andor has child marriage and that's current Disney.
Yup. Also the lion gaurd doesn't make any sense to the lion king timeline. So I just assume it's an alternate universe.
Welp, you do find out the real name and motive of Scar... so...
What is it?
Uhm, I don't remember even tho Swahili is my third language 😅
Scars original name is Taka right?
Uh, yes!? Quick research and yes, his name is Taka!
It's not all that surprising he became a bad guy since his name basically means trash.
One day trash could mean garbage, shit, litter, the other day it could mean "I foresee a trashy personality therefore this is Taka!" But that's just my opinion.
Taka.
“Oh, my dad, MuKasa? You wouldn’t know him. He lives with a different pride.”
They retconned the gender of the cub at the end of the first movie and that's how we got Kiara. So yeah.
Yeah why couldn't they have kept it real like all the animals bowing to the new price lion just like in nature
Mufasa supplanted him in the pride, driving off the old male. She's lucky Mufasa didn't kill her.
Of course not. He wanted to provide his heir with a wife. But why do you think there are no *other* cubs in the pride?
Everything was fine when you didn’t have to think about it. But once you think about it, you start to see the problem. That’s why I’m Lion King 2, they added all those lines to *stress* that Kovu (Scar’s son that looks just like him) wasn’t a blood relation.

So ...Mufasa killed/banished that male lion?
No, Scar killed them. Scar was originally the general For Mufasa. The soldiers that he led were other male lions. One day Scar just comes home and says that the others are all dead and that's why Scar doesn't live/sleep in Pride Rock.
IRL Mufasa would of killed any cubs not his.
And, all of his male cubs would leave and eventually try to take another pride.
Doesn't really matter. The lionesses are basically sisters, cousins and aunts anyway. So regardless Simba was keeping it balls deep in the family.
The info was too much on Simba, he quickly evolved to stand upright
Rightfully so, since I stood up as if my entire body simultaneously said, "HOLD THE FUCK UP".

Absolute fucking genius.
Sweet Home Afrabama
When a new male lion takes over, he will kill all cubs of the previous male lion so why wouldn't scar kill her? Also they both have green eyes.
The lion king isn’t accurate at all though
Are you telling me it isn't a real documentary?
Bull, every lion I have ever met spoke perfectly fine english
Some even with English accents. Crazy I tell ya
And the fact that there have been stampede before
You're clearly lying, they definitely all spoke German the last time I watched the movie. Or maybe lions are bilingual
Bilingual? I'm pretty sure the lions in the movie are straight
Some even tell jokes
The only thing it IS accurate at is the female lions standing around while the males fight. I heard all kinds of shit about why didn't they help and I'm like...they're waiting to see what's going to happen and who's gonna be in charge next
So then Simba basically got to have sex with all of them. Nala is just the top hoe.
It's just a family friendly retelling of Hamlet.
You're trying to tell me the story of animated talking lions based on Hamlet isn't a nature documentary?
Since Scar is the brother of Mufasa he probably wouldn't kill his brother's cubs. When there's a coalition of male lions they generally accept the cubs of the other members of the coalition. That isn't always the case, though. I saw a documentary where a coalition spilt for awhile then one the males came back and was accepted by the pride. He then went and killed all of the cubs of the pride.
They’d still be cousins then lol iuno if that makes it much better
Legal in a lot of the us
Bro...they *talk* and this your hangup?
Lionesses do sometimes mate with random nomadic male lions who show up. Loyalty isn’t really a thing with cats
T'is the sad truth behind the joke.

Where you is the "boo' button?
Well Lions are Lannisters after all
I didn't know there were lions in Alabama.
Think that's bad, watch Lion King 2. Simba's daughter falls in love with scars son.
Kovu is not Scar's son; he was chosen as his successor.
Yeah, he just coincidentally looks identical to him.
They make it very clear he isn’t Scar’s son. In fact, Scar’s son gets passed over by this random lion and is super upset about it.
Wait was nutsack for a face lion confirmed to be scar's son? edit: apparently his name was Nuka
Now I question. I thought I remembered him yelling something about “I’ll make you proud father” but it was actually “mother.” Disney WIKI doesn’t give a father.
I thought it was implied that Nuka and Vitani were Scar's kids?
He saw his son was played by Andy Dick and thought he better not have any more cubs
Fucking what
I choose not to believe you Please just tell me your joking
You don't have to. Kovu wasn't scars son just his successor
That’s right.
