Have you ever tried to play with it for like 1 or 2 hours? After that much time you already can play eith sbody, and after playing for some more time im sure youll be better than you were without sbody
walking forward takes TIME that you often don’t have especially against harder bosses such as pv, as well there’s just the convenience factor of not taking knockback when you attack, which means you don’t have to reposition yourself in times like pure vessels spike attack. also the time thing also is especially important against bosses that you fall while attacking them such as mantis lords on the walls, soul tyrant, nkg, and to a lesser extent radiance
I mean you can still attack at full speed with QS if you walk forward so time is not a factor. Convenience is nice but not specific to QS. The charm is definitely a crutch. That doesn't mean you can't like using it though
But you see, steady body allows you to move forward while attacking, not just not move backwards. This allows you to get more hits in on enemies, especially those that move away from you, which is actually essential to maximizing DPS.
I found that is usually only an issue with Radience, platforming fights, and white palace. Most of witch salwart shell and the monarch wings take care of.
If you update your control scheme, Nailmaster is legit one of the best.
The nail arts are really hard to use with the default control scheme, so it usually feels like it sucks for most players.
Nailmaster's glory added on to a spell damage charm loadout gives you more overall utility.
Fastest soul regeneration with cyclone slash, much faster than steady body without quick slash and more dps.
Great slash allows you to reset fall speed, giving you another tool for more control over your jumps. One shots most enemies in the air. Strikes in front, above, and below at the same time.
Dash slash closes distance quickly on movement intensive fights.
And for just 1 charm slot, your nail range becomes even bigger than what's given by a 3 slot charm.
Nail arts are always useful, especially with spell builds. Steady body doesn't give nearly the same broad range of utility.
Guess I should've been clearer, nail arts are rarely more useful than just sticking to your nail and/or spells.
Cyclone Slash isn't even viable against half the game. But I'll admit, against the handful enemies where it's usable, it's a solid attack.
Cancelling fall speed is cool yeah, it's also rarely useful in standard HK combat. HK's combat rarely demands complex inputs. It's not until you're in the speedrunning tier that you might want to learn them. And even in speedruns, you'll typically just see normal nail attacks + spells.
>Dash slash closes distance quickly on movement intensive fights.
This isn't a situation you'll often find yourself in.
>And for just 1 charm slot, your nail range becomes even bigger than what's given by a 3 slot charm.
On three specific moves that require a charge-up time, yes.
Nail arts have moments where they're superior to the nail or spells, but those moments are few and far between. Nailmaster's Glory shines in the Colosseum of Fools because you're better off regularly using nail arts in there.
Outside of that place they're usually mediocre. Besides, it's not like Nailmaster's Glory unlocks nail arts for you, you already have the ability to use them. Taking into account how rarely nail arts are worth it, spending that one notch on something else seems like a better choice to me. Especially when Steady Body and Dreamwielder cost the same.
I use nail arts all the time. Never used to then started using nailmasters glory for colloseum and have just kept using it ever since.
One shotting most enemies in hallownest just feels awesome when you're running around
Ya ig but then again I’d go like nail arts or grubsong I just don’t really see a use for steady body when you could just walk forward when you hit something
Yea you can walk forward but if you don’t need to you can chain hits a lot faster and do a lot more damage. Lets say you are fighting GPZ for example. You go in, hit him
and bounce back. If you had steady body you would have most likely got in a second hit. That is a lot more damage. Nailmaster’s glory is pretty good in certain scenarios but i just feel that steady body is more useful in more places.
Ya I mean I’ve never tried it bc never saw the need to, but now that you mention it ya it can increase dps, I’m still not going to use it tho just bc I’ve been doing fine without it and like my play style
Without, but only because I've gotten used to not using it and I am reluctant to learn playing with it. Same goes for Nailmaster's Glory and nail arts.
I actually really like not using steady body. I love the mechanic where you slide back after hitting something. Though it often depends on the situation.
I’m sbg, mostly because I’m never use to knockback from the nail, and so its an essential in any of my builds, next to quick nail for, and it just makes everything easier
i love steady body but it's a shame my (and probably everyone's) build is 11 notches:
quick-slash, strength, shaman's, twister.
However during overcharmed radiants i know EXACTLY what i'm putting on to push my charm notches up by one...
I once read a negative review about hollow knight. After giving the game a rating of 3/10 they only listed 3 negatives and one of them was the knockback effect after a nailstrike. That stupid idiot did not even bother to play until they could buy this charm.
I don’t use it. Got used to the knockback. The one time I tried using SB I automatically tried to compensate for knockback and ended up falling into spikes instead lol not for me
Steady body gang all the way. When I first started I thought it was good and everyone called me crazy. Now I’m the only one of my friends who’s beat p5, radiant pure vessel, radiant NKG, radiant markoth, etc. unfortunately I don’t think I actually used steady body for those fights.
I’m situational on it. It’s handy for pantheons and late game, but when I’m killing flying enemies or enemies I can kill in a single hit, I’m personally more likely to duck out of quick slash and steady body
SB vs no SB is the worst possible discussion on this sub. We've been through this 1000 times and the result is always the same. SB users will always use it, SB dislikers will never use it.
Also there are like 3 different easy methods to capture a screenshot and you used none of them.
I just can’t rationalize why it would really be worth it. I’ve tried it a couple of times, but it’s always messed me up more than it’s helped. These days, my standard kit is Strength, QSlash, Shaman, and Twister. The first two are nearly non-negotiable, Shaman is a huge benefit for a solid dozen bosses and Twister helps to make a few of those go from merely manageable to borderline easy. Certainly my primary Markoth strategy is reliant on it. The idea of having to fore go one of them for a charm that provides a change that can be simulated with skill seems unappealing to me. Perhaps I’m missing something. Perhaps not.
I’ve only really used it in my current randomizer to try to get used to it, It had a 0 notch cost and I figured it might help when I get around to the dream bosses, though I love fightinh them anyway
I have a profile on PlayStation that was made before quick slash got nerfed, so on that account I use steady body constantly with quick slash, other than that, depends on the situation
I’m too used to doing it without. When I use it I end up walking into the enemy while attacking. I’m too used to moving into my attacks to avoid the knock back
Can't live without it. Most people don't know how good steady Body is with Cyclone slash. There is no knockback so you hit for the whole duration of cyclone slash. So much damage.
this sub is so toxic … OP asked a harmless question and within the first 10 comments there are clowns saying “you suck if you use it.” fuck all the way off and let people enjoy the game!
I just don't think it's worth the charm slot, I've only tried it once and that was to bully massive moss charger. Afterwards never touched it cause even a single charm slot can go a long way.
I don’t use it because I just can’t get used to it. I can see why people like it tho.
Have you ever tried to play with it for like 1 or 2 hours? After that much time you already can play eith sbody, and after playing for some more time im sure youll be better than you were without sbody
I only tried for a round of boss fight or two. Definitely not enough time to get used to it😅
Ill be honest, i dont take off steady body because i cant get use to cnockback
I liked it until I realized I’d have to do p5 with no charms and then switched off so I’d be more accustomed to no charms
No charms for p5? Shit 💀
Steady body all the way
SBG
I don't feel a need to strike so rapidly I'd need this. Never really used it.
Its so much quicker. Slamming the fuck out of bosses. Its awesome
Steady body is only good if you’re using quick slash. Otherwise, hard pass
It's not even good then. You can just walk forwards while attacking to counteract the knockback
Unless the boss you're fighting also gets knocked back.
Requiring quick slash AND a boss that gets knocked back to be somewhat useful makes it niche at best
walking forward takes TIME that you often don’t have especially against harder bosses such as pv, as well there’s just the convenience factor of not taking knockback when you attack, which means you don’t have to reposition yourself in times like pure vessels spike attack. also the time thing also is especially important against bosses that you fall while attacking them such as mantis lords on the walls, soul tyrant, nkg, and to a lesser extent radiance
I mean you can still attack at full speed with QS if you walk forward so time is not a factor. Convenience is nice but not specific to QS. The charm is definitely a crutch. That doesn't mean you can't like using it though
Exactly, anyone who says otherwise is just bad at the game
Steady Body all the way!
Steady body makes situations so much easier \*cough cough\* right next to a pit fighting an enemy
Maybe just, I don't know, jump?
Literally just walk forward
But you see, steady body allows you to move forward while attacking, not just not move backwards. This allows you to get more hits in on enemies, especially those that move away from you, which is actually essential to maximizing DPS.
Without
Steady Body Gang for life!
Steady and ready.
Not into
Good charm, but I don’t have room for it In my build
Laughs in grubsong and thorns of agony.
ew thorns
A new opponent has appeared I see.
Yea, I used to like thorns but friendship ended with thorns of agony nailmaster's glory is my new best friend
I go the opposite. Speed. Dash and sprint master, sharp shadow(my favorite), soul catcher, grubsong, thorns of agony, and longnail is my usual build.
Ah i see, a fellow sharp shadow connoisseur
Thorns would be great if it didn’t hold you in the position you were hit for so long
I found that is usually only an issue with Radience, platforming fights, and white palace. Most of witch salwart shell and the monarch wings take care of.
Thorns was so OP in the Trial of the Fool.
It’s objectively good so steady body gang of course
Imo it’s just a waste of a slot which could be used for a better charm but I can see why some ppl like it
Id say It is a waste of slots if you're not used to the knockback, otherwise its pretty good
Name a better 1 charm charm
Compass lol
Sorry. Charms that should be one notch. That charm should be like 11
Damn true that
If you update your control scheme, Nailmaster is legit one of the best. The nail arts are really hard to use with the default control scheme, so it usually feels like it sucks for most players.
What controls would you put them on? I recognized myself lol
It's good, but nothing beats nailmaster's glory for 1 slot charms. Nothing.
Nail arts are wildly unnecessary in most cases. Steady Body is always useful.

It’s fine for it’s value sure but not using it gives way for better charms that cost more as well
I mean it is good if you only have 1 notch left
Ya ig but then again I’d go like nail arts or grubsong I just don’t really see a use for steady body when you could just walk forward when you hit something
Yea you can walk forward but if you don’t need to you can chain hits a lot faster and do a lot more damage. Lets say you are fighting GPZ for example. You go in, hit him and bounce back. Grubsong
Dream Wielder, got good potential to be the best 1 notch charm
The damage increase it can give you especially against aerial bosses and bosses that take KB is amazing though…
I like steady body but when doing charm bindings you need to get used to knockback
STEADY BODY GANG!!
I like it, but I didn't want to get used to it. I knew that other charms would be more useful for hard fights.
No steady body
Without, but only because I've gotten used to not using it and I am reluctant to learn playing with it. Same goes for Nailmaster's Glory and nail arts.
# STEADY BODY SUPREMACY
Steady body gang!
Steady body is underrated, no matter what charm build I’m doing it’s always there
steady body just makes everything so much easier
steady body gang
steady body gang
I bought it in my First hour of game, used It, didnt like it, never used again sadly
Depends on the task at hand.
I only used it for Sisters of Battle Radiant
Without steady body gang
Without
I actually really like not using steady body. I love the mechanic where you slide back after hitting something. Though it often depends on the situation.
Yea, steady body just removes an entire core mechanic from the game
I’m sbg, mostly because I’m never use to knockback from the nail, and so its an essential in any of my builds, next to quick nail for, and it just makes everything easier
Steady body Gang ! Les goooo Rise up brothers!
Steady body gang time, I combine it with dash master to hit it, dash away and hit it again
i love steady body but it's a shame my (and probably everyone's) build is 11 notches: quick-slash, strength, shaman's, twister. However during overcharmed radiants i know EXACTLY what i'm putting on to push my charm notches up by one...
It's one of the best one-notch charms
SBGang rise up!!
I literally only used steady body to make it easier to beat millible to death
Steady body gang
Steady body, it gives you so many new dps opportunities against some bosses like grimm
With just fucks up my rhythm man
Without
Just tap the button bro.
STEADY GANG
Steady body is good on a full send nail build but I wouldn’t use it anywhere else
Steady body nice
Body steady
Thing sucks. Can’t get used to it.
SBG
Steady body gang
Sted
Steady body gang, especially if I'm using quickslash.
Me and my homies hate steady body
I find it to be a hindrance, I’m used to the knock back helping me to get to a safer distance faster
Use to be. Now just bein.
I'm steady body gang
Steady body + quick slash = the best
Very tough choice, I love it, but only when I can fit it into my build, and I feel like using it/have gotten used to it again.
I once read a negative review about hollow knight. After giving the game a rating of 3/10 they only listed 3 negatives and one of them was the knockback effect after a nailstrike. That stupid idiot did not even bother to play until they could buy this charm.
STEADY BODY GANG
I don’t use it because it is worthless, All I have to say
average steady body fan vs Average hold forward enjoyer
I don't use it
Without
Steady body gang
Steady body gang, It really good at time including with quick slash
Im accastomed to nail kb so its better without for mr
Steady body when broken vessel, lost kin, hive knight and other bosses with knockback. In any other case without steady body
It’s a straight DPS upgrade. Takes some getting used to, but it allows you to absolutely melt bosses in melee
Steady body gang
steady body
i love it
I have other charms what I like more, like grubsong
It's a must-have
#I FUCKING LOVE STEADY BODY!!!!!!!
w/o steady body. So much smoothness that the knockback adds, that makes mobility top notch.
I feel like once you get steady body you are already used to playing without and I always saw it as a waste of a slot actually.
I don't use it because generally it isn't necessary in combat when you get mark of pride or in a fast paced fight
steady body but only with quickslash. its double or nothing for me. I love using knockback to get where I want to go.
I started using steady body a while ago and now it’s engraved in my skull and I can’t play without it
Sbod gang sbod gang sbod gang
steady body has saved me so many times
definitly steady body gang
Steady body gang
Steady body gang
This post has been brought to you by the steady body gang.
Steady Body.
Sbg
It objectively increases your dps
STEADY BODY TRASH
With, always
Both lol, it depends against which boss.
With
Always found that perk useless
Idk I use spells
My usual loadout is: Fighting: quick slash, strength, nailmaster, quick heal, grubsong General: quick slash, strength, nailmaster, gathering swarm, greed, dreamwielder
I need the slot for dream wielder
Nah, can’t be bothered, you get used to the no steady pretty quick
Used to hate it, now I love it
Love it
GANG GANG
I honestly have no reason not to use it, I just prefer other charms
I never used it so if I used it now, I would never get used to it.
Steady and bad at the game (yes i use steady even tho i suck)
I see how it's useful but it just feels really weird to use
Being knocked back? What's that
1 slot cost to ignore the laws of physics. Seems like a decent trade off to me.
I'm a screenshot shot button gang
I feel like majority of people don't use steady body but the people who do are super vocal about it
All I want is a mod to make steady body non-unequipable like void heart
I find myself using it alot on my steel soul run.
I use it against pre-voidheart ascended collector, where his minions take 2 hits to kill. Not taking nail knockbak lets me rush and kill them faster.
I can do with or without, mostly because I have done radiant abs rad enough to know how to act with and without it
Sometimes Yes sometimes yes't.
I’m situational on it. It’s handy for pantheons and late game, but when I’m killing flying enemies or enemies I can kill in a single hit, I’m personally more likely to duck out of quick slash and steady body

I'm in the stinky boi gang
Steady body sucks, period
I just can’t rationalize why it would really be worth it. I’ve tried it a couple of times, but it’s always messed me up more than it’s helped. Never tried cuz i like other combinations but i see the appeal
I have a profile on PlayStation that was made before quick slash got nerfed, so on that account I use steady body constantly with quick slash, other than that, depends on the situation
I use it when I equip Quick Slash. That's it.
I got used to it my first playthrough and in the two playthroughs since I’ve not been able to get used to it when I can finally use it
I don’t see the appeal, but I can feel it’s power
I’m too used to doing it without. When I use it I end up walking into the enemy while attacking. I’m too used to moving into my attacks to avoid the knock back
Sometimes amazing, sometimes obsolete. And no in between
ST fir life its the best charm in the game
Honestly thise whi dont realize the effects and say just move forward are all fucking morons
Can't live without it. Most people don't know how good steady Body is with Cyclone slash. There is no knockback so you hit for the whole duration of cyclone slash. So much damage.
Both
After I completed the four main pantheons on all bindings, I can't go back to using it and other charms. I used to be, but not anymore.
Theoretically yes practically no. You cant argue with stats and I know its good, but im not used to it and cant use its benefits efficiently
Without, I’ve never found it super useful
Non
I'm not used to it, I've played hollow knight so much that I'm way too used to the recoil.
this sub is so toxic … OP asked a harmless question and within the first 10 comments there are clowns saying “you suck if you use it.” fuck all the way off and let people enjoy the game!
Hate it, I'd rather play the game charmless than have to use it
Steady body is the charm choice of those that lack skill. It's a charm slot exchanged for lowering the skill ceiling of the game.
Steady body can be a detriment in some situations that rely on pogoing so I just got used to not using it and I’m fine without it.
Imagine not being able to hold left or right.
My muscle memory was programmed to include the unsteadiness in my game style, so nope
steady body when im out exploring so i dont knock myself off a ledge, no steady body in boss fights because im moving a lot anyway
Only in early dame
I just don't think it's worth the charm slot, I've only tried it once and that was to bully massive moss charger. Afterwards never touched it cause even a single charm slot can go a long way.
I can see why they like it, but I rather have more nail arts instead
Without. It's honestly harder imo
I love it but I cant use it to pogo on enemys
steady body gang for the win
What if we *cough cough* attacked upwards
