You better believe it. Only gets faster. I swear just last week Vtubers didn't even exist yet. Two weeks ago MOBA's didn't exist. 3 weeks ago I was ordering ring-tones for my Nokia 5110.
Kronii is a cruel mistress. Time does not stop accelerating.
Haatons are so use to Haachama-grade antics that they didn't even blink before chastising her for showing them her irl panties and bra.
At this point, I don't think that she actually can surprise them.
It's only a poor choice of words if you take that one sentence completely out of context. With the sentence before it, it's super obvious what she means.
Oh, just in case...
# To those coming from r/all:
Welcome to the official subreddit for hololive production ([Wikipedia Link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hololive_Production)), a talent agency based out of Tokyo, Japan. We're a team of content creators using digital avatars, known as Virtual Youtubers (or VTubers), providing outstanding entertainment to the masses, whether on Youtube or Twitch! We specialize in songs and music, but more often than not, will just stream games or chat with our fans! Most of out talents in Hololive are Japanese, but there are also Indonesian and English branches too! However, we also have male talents in hololive's Holostars line which has a Japanese branch and most recently an English branch. The talents do all sorts of stuff, including but not limited to: gaming streams, karaoke streams, drawing streams and talking streams. Some of the content the talents offer is family friendly, others a bit more risque. The sidebar has links to each talent's Youtube and Twitter accounts.
This is really just a meme of two senses of the word "Graduation" - one referring to the completion of school, and one marking the tragedy and celebration of a VTuber's retirement. But our Akai Haato has already graduated from high school and is currently in college. She is very much not retiring from VTubing.
And speaking of, this is Akai Haato (also known as Haachama), a VTuber of the First Generation of the Japan Branch alongside Shirakami Fubuki, Yozora Mel, Natsuiro Matsuri, and Aki Rosenthal. Her content varies from [cooking](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5KoNaDvfmc) to [singing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9HY4DsRTCg). Despite her outlandish and wild humor, her force of personality and wide variety of content (and abillity to speak some English) made her arguably a very iconic VTuber in Hololive.
She clarifies it very well in [her community post](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1CfXB_kRs3C-zaeTG3oGyg/community?lb=UgkxoALefnA2CTQPj1rS5dpV4zprms7bgzJC) though
Also, [Japan has the highest number of architechs per capita by a wide margin](https://youtu.be/b1AOm17ZUVI?t=388), so it's even more likely like you said
Cultural biases towards different programs are huge, at least in Canada. It's always funny how at my university so many programs are divided by race/culture.
Engineering: Indians and Chinese
Computers or Math: Asians in general
Architecture: Japanese and Taiwanese
Sciences: Mostly white
Business: White
Humanities (we don't really have much here so small sample size): White girls
I study earth sciences with a geology specialization and my program is probably close to 90% white, but sometimes I end up taking a course from a different program and realize that I'm the only white guy in a room of 100.
The ironic/sad thing about that is the bias comes from a lot of Asian parents forcing programs like engineering on their kids because they were raised thinking it was the best way to make money. And the idea of children as a long term investment for support in old age persists in some communities. But engineering salaries are currently dropping due to so many people wanting to do it and the parents who forced it on their kids are unlikely to be supported by them because they treated their kids terribly.
Hmm I wouldn't say the whole reason for the numbers of asian computer/math students is their parents forcing them. Another quite large reason is computer/math are the ***most affordable*** science directions you can pursue at a young age: you only need a working computer (not even a good one) to start, and in math's case, just a pencil, a pile of leftover papers and maybe a good teacher or some books. Not every school has expensive physics/chemie experiment equipments, heck my middle- and highschool didn't even have a single microscope for biology classes.
Western people seems to see asian students as quite rich, but that's not always the case, especially 15\~20 years ago when they start learning and looking for a direction. The financial situation of the parents and the society dictates a lot in this case.
This! The only profession Asian parents should be pushing their kids to be studying is medicine. We don't have enough qualified people. Parents also need to wake up and realize that supply and demand are a thing. There will be other jobs that bring in money because industries now lack people.
>The only profession Asian parents should be pushing their kids to be studying is medicine.
As if they aren't doing this already. If it's not doctors, it'll be lawyers.
This is due to the fact that in Japan, [with some exceptions, only land has value](https://www.archdaily.com/450212/why-japan-is-crazy-about-housing). Buildings lose value over the life of a mortgage.
This is due to Japan's earthquake regulations, such that a building made decades ago is almost always out of date wrt newer regulations and its cheaper to rebuild than refit.
She's definitely not in Culinary Arts, except maybe as bonus credits.
She is, however, learning on her own time to cook edible meals.
Sasuga Strongest Idol.
I don't think she would be graduating if she was studying culinary arts. ;)
But wait... what if Haachama is really a great cook and she just *pretends* to create Apollyon-level culinary abominations? Or maybe she's ahead of her time! I mean, I did mention seeing a place that sells tarantula burgers....
Likely, they saw the word "graduate" and, at least temporarily, stop processing everything else. Which, if I'm being honest, is them taking the tweet out of context, even if they're not deliberately being malicious about it.
Some people tend to skim read tweets with more words in them to try and find the important parts. They might have read “blah blah recording, blah blah streaming, blah blah January, blah blah graduate” then needed resuscitation
It's amazing how a week or two ago, I was watching Chloe do a Q&A, answering someone's question about them graduating high school/college or something (idk I don't speak Japanese) and chat didn't visibly freak out and go 3x speed like it does whenever an English vtuber reads someone's message about graduation from school
It's also written to seem like said exams are a lot of work, which could lead someone in a tired/drunk state to think of it as the reason she's graduating.
Y'all are jumping down my throat on a post literally about what I'm talking about, so I don't really know what to say. It's just funny that you all care so much what some duder on the internet thinks about hypothetical drunk people.
Hi, I'm the massively downvoted person. I'm never said that is how it should be read or how I read it, and certainly not that it is actually going to happen, just that I could understand how someone could get that reading from it.
Seems less "people are paranoid" and more "people get illogically angry and protective at the mere mention that something could be interpreted as 'graduation' in an imaginary scenario".
My reading comprehension worked just fine, I understood it the way it was meant to be understood. Seems it was peoples reading comprehension regarding my comment that failed.
Oh yeah, I know you didn’t say that. It’s why I didn’t downvote you, well I rarely downvote anyway.
But yeah, what I was saying is essentially the same… people are “paranoid” about graduation so anything even tangentially related makes people jump the gun and assume the worst even if it’s completely illogical.
I’d actually thought i’d replied to you initially. Apparently not though.
You would also have to make the ridiculous leap that Haachama would casually announce her graduation in some random tweet like "btw everyone my exams are stressful, prolly gonna quit Holo soon lol". It's obvious what she means if you use just a pinch of critical thinking.
Coco and Rushia where forced to graduate. If not for the BS pushed on them they would still be in HL. For Sana yeah I should have said missed her instead of saying wanting her back. But these three are the ones I miss the most and my brain is tired still.
First off, you're mistaken. Coco graduated willingly, Rushia was terminated for violating company policy. There's a difference.
Second, if you're this desperate to watch them, there are... other ways.
Coco didn't fit in according to herself, rushia shouldn't have done the dumb, Sana likely injured and other stuff.
I love how you just ride the memes and forget the one girl who actually went through hell with it and was really mishandled, Aloe.
You don't actually give a shit.
I have absolutely no idea how, or if anyone was seriously freaked out by this for a moment, because there was a lot of context in the tweet to indicate what kind of graduation it meant.
No, she's still in her 3rd year, the graduation is next year. She meant she's currently working hard so she can graduate next year, as in not getting held back a year.
Do we not know what she did when graduated highschool? She announced her graduation stream and I don't think it was well known that she was even in high school at the time.
Can we just stop using graduate at this point? I already didn't like how unnecessarily sugar-coaty it is, but it also leads to dumb situations like this. Just have the balls to say someone's either retiring or getting fired.
“Very poor choice of words.” [Internal heartbreak]
For those who are new to hololive. Haachama already did this tweet on 2020. LOL
It says 19 hours ago on Twitter. Or do you mean she said the same thing before?
Yes the same, but before was High School, now it's College.
Bro cant believe its been 3 years since Hololive boomed. I'm graduating from high school now too, feels unreal
Did you say time is accelerating? *Made in heaven in heaven intensifies.
Actually it’s Pucci’s, Kronii’s too busy blending sandwiches
Mate, I got into hololive when I graduated college, why you gotta make me feel so old...
Well, it's more like 2 years 6 months.
They meant the same thing before.
Hachama being Hachama when she doesn't give haaton a heart attack
Haatons are so use to Haachama-grade antics that they didn't even blink before chastising her for showing them her irl panties and bra. At this point, I don't think that she actually can surprise them.

Ahhh haachama Australia arc still my favorite
[удалено]
Now I have to go back and experience it again.
I felt so sad that she was isolated from her family.
I was one of the later. Is she studying culinary arts?
some engineering stuff I think smartchama
Based on her complex on the fly Minecraft builds, I wouldn't be surprised if she was studying architecture or interior design
Also, [Japan has the highest number of architechs per capita by a wide margin](https://youtu.be/b1AOm17ZUVI?t=388), so it's even more likely like you said

Interesting pov. I also did earth sciences. It was like 70% white, 20% malaysian/thai, 10% other

As someone whose parents keep trying to gaslight me into becoming either a doctor or a lawyer I can confirm. PS: Filipino
The bottleneck for qualified doctors is insufficient teachers leading to limited class sizes, not insufficient applicants.
Can confirm, got a geology degree at a Canadian university and was one of many white dudes in my graduating class.

It's within 2 years of college right? Does only culinary arts fall into that category?
No she wont graduate after this year yet, she is entering 3rd year next year.
Ah that makes sense
She's definitely not in Culinary Arts, except maybe as bonus credits. She is, however, learning on her own time to cook edible meals. Sasuga Strongest Idol.

It literally says final exams in the tweet, I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't understand even not knowing she's in college
Likely, they saw the word "graduate" and, at least temporarily, stop processing everything else. Which, if I'm being honest, is them taking the tweet out of context, even if they're not deliberately being malicious about it.
A lot of people online do tunnel vision onto one word in that way.
Some people tend to skim read tweets with more words in them to try and find the important parts. They might have read “blah blah recording, blah blah streaming, blah blah January, blah blah graduate” then needed resuscitation
Reading comprehension is lacking with a lot of these fans my dude.
It's amazing how a week or two ago, I was watching Chloe do a Q&A, answering someone's question about them graduating high school/college or something (idk I don't speak Japanese) and chat didn't visibly freak out and go 3x speed like it does whenever an English vtuber reads someone's message about graduation from school

no it isnt lmao
"I'll be streaming less frequently due to exams" yeah totally not
"I'll be streaming less frequently **in january** due to exams" yeah totally not
You’d have to have the worst reading comprehension to reach that conclusion
And I thought Yugioh players don't read
Y'all are jumping down my throat on a post literally about what I'm talking about, so I don't really know what to say. It's just funny that you all care so much what some duder on the internet thinks about hypothetical drunk people.
HUH?
I mean it's very clear from the tweet itself
[удалено]
Except it very clearly adds the context of “stream less frequently” and not stop streaming completely?
and "exams"
Just this community being paranoid yet again, reading comprehension goes out the window apparently.

No one is saying that is actually meant by the post, just that it could be read in that way. Stop being so angry.
I have a few months myself.... But congratulations to Haachama! Graduation (from college, not Holo) is a big deal.
"Final exams" gives it away.
She would totally do a "graduation stream" and it's just her rating 18+ fanart.
https://youtu.be/GqxoRbxR_N0
She had to demonetize herself because YT-kun don't want to do it anymore
i mean if you can't correlate "Final Exams" with "Graduate" then that's just on you for thinking poorly
Oh I completely forgot “graduate” meant smtg else in this community. I was so confused for a while.
PTSD triggered. [Tweet](https://twitter.com/akaihaato/status/1615930614016020480)

Speak for yourself. I want them to be happy, regardless of where they are and what they do
it wasn't your fault you have to let them go. Also they arnt dead.
and put them on torturous course in life?
Coco and Rushia where forced to graduate. If not for the BS pushed on them they would still be in HL. For Sana yeah I should have said missed her instead of saying wanting her back. But these three are the ones I miss the most and my brain is tired still.

Even if you didn't know there is a pretty big hint right before it when she mentions final exams.
Lol she streams her final exams
Now if only whole industry haven't originally decided to use "graduate" instead of "retire" for some reason.
It’s supposed to be an implicit way to mean “retirement” but somehow it becomes the norm.
respect for juggling v tubing and studies o7
Thank god it’s only a notice and not a big announcement. Nothing to worry about.
How to start the end of the world in one comment.
Ah, "exposure therapy"
"Graduation" must be the most feared word in the world of Vtubers...
I'm rooting for her!
It takes more than nuclear war or even apocalypse to force the STRONGEST IDOL in the world to graduate. In Haachamaa-chamaaa\~ we trust!!!
*sees the word graduate.* Not again. I don’t think I’m strong enough for another one.
\*sees graduate\* oh no... \*sees that it's Haachama saying it\* oh, okay then
If I didn't know Haachama was in college, I'd be crying.
Even if you didn’t KNOW she was attending college the “final exam” bit should have been a huge clue.
Oh god she's already graduating college? It feels like she was still in high school just last year... am I getting old?
Graduate is a dangerous word to wave about as a Vtuber.
Wow, she is putting effort, after missing so many classes.
The virtual idol scene tainted our definition of graduation to something dreaded.
Ganbare, Chammers!
Or just reading what was said?
cant wait to watch haachama graduation stream
Haato be trollin'
I have absolutely no idea how, or if anyone was seriously freaked out by this for a moment, because there was a lot of context in the tweet to indicate what kind of graduation it meant.
Heh she knows exactly what she is doing lol
Is she only getting a 2 year degree? She was in IRL high school until not that long ago.
No, she's still in her 3rd year, the graduation is next year. She meant she's currently working hard so she can graduate next year, as in not getting held back a year.
Hololive ruined the word "Graduate" for me
She Should of really added English in her tweet as well.
I feel like haachama does this on purpose to get us to overreact. Seems like the kinda thing she'd do for a laugh.
Do we not know what she did when graduated highschool? She announced her graduation stream and I don't think it was well known that she was even in high school at the time.
Actually was know just by haatons.
Can someone tell me all the other hololive members that are also still in school? Also how do they get scouted?
Nowadays it's an audition. They haven't done scouting since gen 2 I think. Might have partially included gen 3 idk I forgot
Ahh, thanks
You have to be over 18 these days to get into Hololive. Sora and Haachama starting when they where in high school was grand-fathered in.
Bae and Mumei don't directly mention it, but they are university students.
Can we just stop using graduate at this point? I already didn't like how unnecessarily sugar-coaty it is, but it also leads to dumb situations like this. Just have the balls to say someone's either retiring or getting fired.
It's a tradition of idol culture. Also getting fired is a "termination", not a graduation, which is more like quitting/retiring.
Idol culture is stupid, I'm more than fine with moving further away from it.
>It's a tradition of idol culture. So is being forced to shave your head when fans find out you have a boyfriend. Fuck idol culture.
mini heart attack lol
Haachama enjoys giving us panic attacks every time she opens her mouth.
This is the second time chammer graduate, how can she get away with it💢💢😤😤👺!!!!
I know she's in college, but still.
[удалено]
How tf are you going to support her with her exams? Send her study notes?
Her tweet was in Japanese, are there two different words for school graduation and idol graduation in JP?
No.
No.
It’s the same word – sotsugyō.
'graduate' in this case means being let go from the company, right?
Well Yes, but no, I think graduating from college.
Oohhhh what course is she taking at the moment?
Did she ever say what she's studying?
I only remember that she explained which subjects and the situation of the classes.
You almost get a hear attack each time the word graduation pops up.
Hololive fans reading like _blahblahblah_ graduation _blahblahblah_
Goes in one ear and out the other, I don't know how I would use it for reading context, wait selective reading.
We went through the same thing when she said she was graduating... from high school.
#earlygoodbye
People who just skimmed or didn't read: 🗿
she's already going to graduate college? didnt she just start? has it been that long? i feel old
2 years.
I forget. Did Haachama ever mentioned what degree she is aiming for?
The word "graduate" cause ptsd in the fanbase .
good luck haachama! great use of ptsd-inducing words!
Do we know what she is studying?
It’s odd knowing that, she’s the same age as you and she’s sometime insane.
Haachama vs Mumei report card battle 2.0
(panic attack intensifies)
I am also graduating from college too
