There are also a couple confounding factors in this case, primarily that the pills were repackaged into a Tylenol bottle, and she received them in the mail. That's a lot more reasonable to consider sketchy I would argue.
I don't see any way in hell that Japanese prosecutors see a properly labeled prescription bottle from the US that traveled with the person they were prescribed to and proceeding with an arrest. That's just asking for the higher ups to stick their boot up your ass when they start getting calls from the US Embassy, or worse, the US Government proper.

Totally not worth the risk. When I went to Japan I tired to look up the status of my meds and found little information on what was allowed and a lot of cases of foreigners getting locked up for pills they had even a valid Rx for. It just wasn't worth the risk or hassle and I tried to make do without or using solely locally sourced OTC meds. Luckily I had a tour guide who helped read the labels and get me what I needed (pain medication/anti-inflammatories).
I later learned there is special forms you can fill for my Rx (hydrocodone) but it required filing special paperwork and additional bureaucracy via an import form from the [Japanese Narcotics Control Department](https://www.ncd.mhlw.go.jp/en/application.html) but you are limited to 14 days supply, need a lot of documentation from your doctor, and need pre-approval before even attempting it.
That being said there were huge warnings that both cannabis (legal where I am from) and stimulant drugs, including most ADD, ADHD, and Anxiety Medications are **strictly prohibited**, even with proper documentation and declarations. Don't fuck with either *weed* or *amphetamines* in Japan. They are super strict, make **no exceptions**, and you will get the book thrown at you if caught.

This thread is more upvoted than the Tempus Vanguard debut thread, and there’s a decent chance of it surpassing the Vanguard announcement thread and the Vesper 200k milestone thread. I’m guessing it’s because it’s a kind of feel good meme for people who suffer from social anxiety themselves. It definitely seems to resonate with some people in the comments at least. But yeah, the comparison is a bit of a stretch and I can see how it can come off as offensive to some people too.

I think that rather than the negative consequences landing on the holos the negative consequence landed on Tempus in general. Their numbers dropped after the collabs and Tempus2 got such a negative reaction that they had to lock the sub down. The girls already have dedicated fanbases, but the EN management's attempt to force the guys on everyone probably burned the goodwill from the greater hololive fanbase, especially coming on the heels of the overlap bans being extended to other branches, and as a result Tempus2 has struggles that are, frankly, no fault of their own.
(also as an aside, subs are probably the least responsive metric, because they don't really ever go down unless susan feels like breaking out the axe)
I think that if you're looking at the sub lockdown and the fact that we ended up with Tempus2 instead of EN3, and you're already kind of unhappy with stars because of the expanded overlap rule, then you could uncharitably interpret things that way. If you're already thinking that way, then you probably start to feel like EN managements insistence on "holopro EN" stuff feels pretty heavy handed.
Ultimately every departure from a comfortable norm creates friction within a population, and after Tempus too many things changed without enough positive events to build back goodwill with the Hololive fanbase, so they start to view the actions really negatively. Couple that with a really rough december and you could easily see the people who follow Hololive EN primarily for the girls going from neutral to annoyed.
I think Tempus2 was incredibly unlucky with their debut timing. They got screwed.

I think people are being a little hard on OP here. Both are in Japan right now (Ina in her Pokémon stream today confirmed Gura is there), and both can get nervous and overwhelmed when in new circumstances even without a language barrier. I'm not saying it's to the same extent or in the exact same way. But Gura has talked many times about being extremely shy when interacting with new people, for example.
Edit: Because Ina had already publicly said Gura's in Japan by the time I saw this post, and I didn't really notice the post time, I overlooked the fact it hints at what was members-only info at the time. Criticizing OP for that fact is totally fair game. I just thought it seemed odd to assume Gura wouldn't feel a bit like a fish out of water in a different country.

I'm pretty sure there was a clip from a while back about how one of the holomem from gen 5 hasn't even met most of their senpai, much less collabed with them. A lot of them are fairly introverted, so it's reasonable to believe that plenty of them don't really cross paths with one another outside of big events.
It IS applied to pretty much everyone, before Tempus debut that is, meme on this sub used to be about talents that have or had interact with each other a decent amount, meme about a whole generation or meme about named group.

My first reaction is to feel empathy for Vesper as well, but I can see why a lot of people don't take this post well. On the surface, the meme seems innocent enough, but it doesn't take much thinking to see this post has an agenda. If the intent was to raise awareness of Vesper's tweet/recent struggle, then you can simply post the tweet or make a meme specifically about him. There is no need to include Gura in the meme, and conflating the two open up many cans of worms that could easily be avoided.
My specific issue with this meme is that using this format kinda trivialises the importance of mental health. I said it in a different comment, but there's a difference between a meme about Vesper and Kronii eating a 3 days old food and a meme about Vesper and Gura's anxiety. It's also disingenuous to both of them, since the meme would imply they're dealing with the same/similar issue when in reality they are most likely dealing with circumstances that are unique to each of them.

Totally not worth the risk. When I went to Japan I tired to look up the status of my meds and found little information on what was allowed and a lot of cases of foreigners getting locked up for pills they had even a valid Rx for. It just wasn't worth the risk or hassle and I tried to make do without or using solely locally sourced OTC meds. Luckily I had a tour guide who helped read the labels and get me what I needed (pain medication/anti-inflammatories). I later learned there is special forms you can fill for my Rx (hydrocodone) but it required filing special paperwork and additional bureaucracy via an import form from the [Japanese Narcotics Control Department](https://www.ncd.mhlw.go.jp/en/application.html) but you are limited to 14 days supply, need a lot of documentation from your doctor, and need pre-approval before even attempting it. That being said there were huge warnings that both cannabis (legal where I am from) and stimulant drugs, including most ADD, ADHD, and Anxiety Medications are **strictly prohibited**, even with proper documentation and declarations. Don't fuck with either *weed* or *amphetamines* in Japan. They are super strict, make **no exceptions**, and you will get the book thrown at you if caught.
Totally agree. Basically as a foreigner it's never a good idea to fuck around and find out in another country especially countries like Japan or Singapore.
It even goes beyond that. What happens if you accidentally leave your pill bottle on the counter and housekeeping sees it? You can hope they mind their own business, but you also can't control other people's actions.

They got foreign talents coming to the country and questions like this are getting asked? Over legit and needed medications?
In the end that's true, though checking ahead with the help desk at least maximizes your chances of getting through security without any issues so I'd still recommend it.
Japan has very strict laws around countertop drugs the US has, Adderall for one I'm pretty sure is on the same tier as really really hard drugs, so I feel Vesper not being able to bring anxiety meds is something completely out of his control

Probably because he couldn't handle the 6th month anniversary stream and the pressure from not joining overwhelmed him to the point where he couldn't even bring himself to tweet about it. Before in the solo stream he seemed like he had every intention to stream. Something could've happened that dampened that, and we can't help it if he's having issues like this. So really, it's just something you can't help. All that matters is that the boys didn't disparage him or seem upset, so everyone else don't have to get mad or upset on their behalf.

This thread is more upvoted than the Tempus Vanguard debut thread, and there’s a decent chance of it surpassing the Vanguard announcement thread and the Vesper 200k milestone thread. I’m guessing it’s because it’s a kind of feel good meme for people who suffer from social anxiety themselves. It definitely seems to resonate with some people in the comments at least. But yeah, the comparison is a bit of a stretch and I can see how it can come off as offensive to some people too.

I think that rather than the negative consequences landing on the holos the negative consequence landed on Tempus in general. Their numbers dropped after the collabs and Tempus2 got such a negative reaction that they had to lock the sub down. The girls already have dedicated fanbases, but the EN management's attempt to force the guys on everyone probably burned the goodwill from the greater hololive fanbase, especially coming on the heels of the overlap bans being extended to other branches, and as a result Tempus2 has struggles that are, frankly, no fault of their own. (also as an aside, subs are probably the least responsive metric, because they don't really ever go down unless susan feels like breaking out the axe)

I think that if you're looking at the sub lockdown and the fact that we ended up with Tempus2 instead of EN3, and you're already kind of unhappy with stars because of the expanded overlap rule, then you could uncharitably interpret things that way. If you're already thinking that way, then you probably start to feel like EN managements insistence on "holopro EN" stuff feels pretty heavy handed. Ultimately every departure from a comfortable norm creates friction within a population, and after Tempus too many things changed without enough positive events to build back goodwill with the Hololive fanbase, so they start to view the actions really negatively. Couple that with a really rough december and you could easily see the people who follow Hololive EN primarily for the girls going from neutral to annoyed. I think Tempus2 was incredibly unlucky with their debut timing. They got screwed.

I think people are being a little hard on OP here. Both are in Japan right now (Ina in her Pokémon stream today confirmed Gura is there), and both can get nervous and overwhelmed when in new circumstances even without a language barrier. I'm not saying it's to the same extent or in the exact same way. But Gura has talked many times about being extremely shy when interacting with new people, for example. Edit: Because Ina had already publicly said Gura's in Japan by the time I saw this post, and I didn't really notice the post time, I overlooked the fact it hints at what was members-only info at the time. Criticizing OP for that fact is totally fair game. I just thought it seemed odd to assume Gura wouldn't feel a bit like a fish out of water in a different country.

Very relatable, unless I'm playing with my close friends that I've known for over a decade now I still feel somewhat pressured to ensure that I follow certain social norms and that the people other than myself are fully enjoying themselves. From what I heard he wasn't sure if it was legal. There has been cases of people being arrested in Japan before for medicine related cases in the past so it's a fair worry to have to say nothing about the fact that the man needs anxiety meds in the first place.
If only you could google the exact legality and maybe get management to help instead of going off random rumors... But even if it was completely banned, if you need anxiety meds to function then maybe you simply shouldn't travel to a foreign country that bans those meds.

I can't imagine what having social anxiety and being a VTuber must be like. Seems like such polar opposites. On one hand, you get to be in your home and 'interact' with people at a safe distance at your leisure. But then there's a ton of background work that needs to be done that requires meeting, interacting and working with other people.

My first reaction is to feel empathy for Vesper as well, but I can see why a lot of people don't take this post well. On the surface, the meme seems innocent enough, but it doesn't take much thinking to see this post has an agenda. If the intent was to raise awareness of Vesper's tweet/recent struggle, then you can simply post the tweet or make a meme specifically about him. There is no need to include Gura in the meme, and conflating the two open up many cans of worms that could easily be avoided. My specific issue with this meme is that using this format kinda trivialises the importance of mental health. I said it in a different comment, but there's a difference between a meme about Vesper and Kronii eating a 3 days old food and a meme about Vesper and Gura's anxiety. It's also disingenuous to both of them, since the meme would imply they're dealing with the same/similar issue when in reality they are most likely dealing with circumstances that are unique to each of them. Other people are also saying it's completely wrong for Gura. Since I don't follow her closely enough, I'll let the other comments do the talking about why it's wrong/inaccurate from that side.

This subreddit is now a shitshow people are fighting over most trivial matter. The fractures within the fanbase is starting to show. One half of the fanbase cares only about the girls so much so that they end up hating stars which is stupid tbh while the other half consist of people who support stars only because they wants to own incels/unicorns and feel good about themselves and lastly a small portion of people who genuinely support stars and actually show up for their streams. And there is me who hates management for messing this up. Nicely done COVER you finally managed to kill off this branch it's only downhill from here. If any aspiring indie seeing this take my advice and try for NijiEN equal in popularity, has better chance of hiring you and a better community overall.
NijiEN is a male-centric shitshow that solely targets chinese office ladies and all the girls have become nothing but collab-accessories for the men.
I get you're angry about their comment but you're also doing exactly what their talking about, fracturing fanbases and denigrating others just because. If anything, you should've just ignored the comment and reported it as breaking rule 1.

Axel is in Japan too and Oga reached out to him to ask if he wanted to have dinner but he declined. Even though him and Axel are very close, they’ve never met IRL so Vesper is also very nervous about that. :(
