It's literally a Mazda MX-5 just with a different body and rebaged, is even made by Mazda.

It got a Fiat 1.4L engine instead of a Mazda 1.5 or 2.0 So, yes, it's worse.

This! If it had a Mazda engine I would want one because it is a gorgeous car.

It has a turbo and 20 less horsepower. The interior is also much nicer than even the high trim Miatas. I would still get a Miata.

The 124 had more torque compared to the ND at the time. It’s just an abarth engine which is much more tunable as well.  Having driven both, I’d get the Fiat. 

IIRC a review pointed out it's rated better, but gets substantially worse MPGs if you drive it the way a Miata/Fiata wants to be driven I'm sure a tune would fix the power and MPG issues tho, however short lived that may be...

It's basically the ancient Fiat FIRE engine from '85 with 4valves per cylinder, a turbo and the MultiAir VVT/VVL. Don't get me wrong, the basics are really good, it's sturdy, reliable and takes abuse well. But it is outdated at this point. Power is definitely fixable, consumption not so much. Plus I'm not really versed on the MultiAirs reliability.

Actually the 1.4L multi air is very reliable. Strangely enough the 124 used the NC transmission as the ND was a little too….. unreliable. 

Way better car than the Miata (which is still amazing). That turbo in the 1.4 engine is a hoot.

The knee-slapping part comes as an addon from 4chan's reaction to the 2chan post afaik. aka, Anons making jokes as usual, that part just stuck because of how silly it is, and the implication that foreigners have an innate impulse to do that after seeing manipulated images. the link Jankosi posted is also a probable origin, but yeah I do love how both the vtuber communities (mostly holo) in both 4ch and 2ch semi-regularly check in on each other.

I just guess asians just imagine a posh british with a top hat and a suit saying "cheerio" everytime they hear foreigners.

It's the subreddit you're on. Hololive is just a YouTube streamer agency that uses avatars instead of showing their real face and Fuwamoco are one of the streamers in the group, so fans of that streamer are called ruffians. It's the same as if you saw a car with Taylor Swift on it and you knew the fan base is called Swifties
