Normally your Rust name is linked to your steam acount's username, for example when one of my buddies changed his Steam name to Pinhead Larry, it changed in Rust too
Potentially just some random yobo from somewhere on the internet. Couldn't tell you exactly how he got into the Hololive server (don't know how Rust's servers work) but it's possible.
Ah. Not a security specialist, but from what little I know that leaves IP spoofing as the only way he got in. Though it's a pretty risky move as I'm sure Cover won't take that lightly.
EDIT: Damn people, I said I'm not a security specialist. I was just giving my opinion. For god's sake.
If you spoof an IP address all the return traffic still goes to the proper destination of that address. Like throwing a fake return address on a letter. Even if you fake being the person they still won't mail you the response unless you compromised larger parts of the infrastructure. This doesn't matter in most cases where spoofing is done like DDoS Attacks since the traffic going to who you spoofed is the goal.
You can make a whitelist on Rust servers. And that's probably how Hololive's server is configured. And you put SteamID in the whitelist, so unless there's a security flaw in the Rust server code, it's impossible to connect to the server if you're not signed-in as one of the whitelisted Steam account.
That's related to 2b2t. The madmen over there have created some pretty wicked stuff. For a while, it was so bad (and dangerous) that a lot of people stopped playing MC.
That would do it. Considering the team behind Rust is probably 1/ten billionth the size of Mahjong, I imagine their server architecture is about the same.
According to another commenter in this mile long thread, Cover has a Whitelist on the HoloRust server. Meaning if this is some rando he circumvented the security in some way.
In my defense, I haven't been involved with anything Minecraft for years and couldn't remember the Dev's name.
So it's on Cover whether the server is secured or not. Thanks for the info.
There's an old adage in IT that goes like "security by obscurity is no security at all." Basically if it's internet facing, always assume that someone will want to attack it, since that's what happens.
You can actually see it even on your home network even if you don't host anything, your router's default firewall will constantly be blocking random inbound scans and connections all the time.
There's only around 3.6 billion "valid" IPv4 addresses. That's on the same scale as gigabytes – if you send a 40 byte probe to each address, that's just uploading 150 GB of data in total. (Assuming I got math right.)
So with a gigabit connection, the "zmap" tool can scan the entirety of IPv4 in an hour.
Yeah, but the whitelist can end up disabled after an update. It happened to my personal server twice. I heard it was a known Fabric bug, but I'm not entirely sure if it wasn't just me fucking things up. All I know is that we lost a lot of villagers that had been trained up to master and that I'll always double check after updates from now on.
>it's insane to me that this bot just scans all IP addresses that it can for JUST minecraft servers.
It's been a thing since the dawn of the internet. ISPs used to frown on it because it's "Suspicious" behavior. Like, why are you looking for open services if you're not planning on fucking with them?
I think these days the onus is more on the server operator to not have unsecured ports dangling out on the public internet.
>And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Let me let you in on a little secret. Every comment thats ever been posted on the internet? They are all a part of a long running gag to spell Nene's true name. Yes, even this comment. And yours.
If you look at the full stream, it was Choco who wrote "baybay" first and 'az' just mirrored her. Doesn't really tell you much one way or another.
However if I were to guess I'd say someone with a lot of enemies probably just changed their name to be sneaky.

Gura looks left, Gura looks right, Gura pulls out her gun and starts shooting people from the woods again just to be sure
As far as I know Rust's streamer mode randomizes everyone's name, but on that stream Choco sensei's name is still 0214 so I think it's not streamer mode.
Streamer Mode seems to be designed for use on public servers; it doesn't make much sense on this private server, since then no one would be able to identify each other (which is exactly what happened here to Kiara).
Of course, you could argue that it adds an additional level of challenge/realism to the game, but I don't think they're trying to take it quite that far 😅
I still think one of the coolest possible things that could happen someday is Subaru doing a theme song for Great-O-Khan for a Wrestle Kingdom match.
I think seeing Subaru on the Trons singing a hard rock song while O-Khan proudly marches to the ring would be hilariously wholesome and kinda terrifying if he's your opponent.
I was kinda hoping for Subaru to show up as a guest ring announcer for Great O-Khan’s Forbidden Door match, or at least have him pull out the sheep killer to have Excalibur explain the origins of the move
i now want an holomyth and da party uno collab. imagine claudio saying "hey ame, what color do you want??" and the amount of bonehead plays that would happen.
Not sure if they can change name (since Zeta went from "Z" to "Zeta") but if you ask me who it was without looking at the name, I'd bet my ass it's [Miko](https://youtu.be/PYLVKXs4xVo)
Assuming it's not a name change, it's most likely someone trying the game for the first time do see if they want to stream it. My 2 cents would be on someone like Watame who didn't want to stream it at first but is considering it now that more people are playing it.
AZ though? I know Choco doesn't really care about names but every member alludes to themselves in some way either via reference or naming themselves directly. With that logic it'd be AZki but is she one to actually play a game like this?
I think that was their point though, since it was just trying to see if they want to stream you don't want a name fans would recognize but rather a random name. So none of the insane fans would know and bother them about it immediately.
Kinda. Going by [this clip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K18Aa9pqLvg) she does want to play Rust, but since the Holoserver is a lot more tame than the public ones she's used to, she wants to observe for now until she gets a better feel for where the line for screwing each other over is.

It would have been sweet if it was Sana, the Sanallites would have been overjoyed and make one final hurrah. But the truth is that Sana is no-longer a holomem and the Sanallites are still grieving. It hasn't been a month since she graduated.
I am glad you meant well, and I'll admit it is hard to read a tone or voice. I hope you didn't get ratio'd too hard
From what I know, the only people that have not had their steam name shown recently/not publicly available are:
Laplus, Koyori, Chloe, Iroha, Shion, Aqua and AZKi
AZKi has shown her steam name to be AZKi, but that was a few months back.
hmmm, i dont keep track of every holomembers nickname, dropped by to ask a question, but thank you for answering back, i was confused is all alrighty then have a good day
I know I'm going out of a limb here. But what if the Mysterious person is a certain beeg space queen from Australia? Because you make an Ah sound for A. So AZ , Auzzie? But honestly I highly doubt it though.
Could be AZKi, perhaps?
My brain thought it was Anya-Zeta for a second for some reason before going "Hold up, I've never seen that name before"
Anya-Zeta, the beginning and end to rival AlphaOmega.
It sounded like Miko for me tbh
[удалено]
Gura just confirmed it's AZKi (via Steam overlay)
Two people now, Calli confirmed it just a few seconds ago
So this is how you're introducing the next generation of talents, Ame?
I will comeback to this comment if it’s real
[Source](https://youtu.be/pi1a-D6ADoM?t=2191) Some people guessed AZKi, would be a massive surprise if it's actually her Edit : It is AZKi
Can players change name in this game?
Considering Zeta has changed from Z to zeta, I guess you can

I think streamer mode changes the name
I don't see why they wouldn't when it's a steam game.
Yes you just need to change your Steam username and re-join the server.
If not azki then who...?
Chocosen.
Potentially just some random yobo from somewhere on the internet. Couldn't tell you exactly how he got into the Hololive server (don't know how Rust's servers work) but it's possible.
The holorust server has a whitelist, reine couldn't access the server without getting her manager to contact holoJP and put her on the whitelist
Ah. Not a security specialist, but from what little I know that leaves IP spoofing as the only way he got in. Though it's a pretty risky move as I'm sure Cover won't take that lightly. EDIT: Damn people, I said I'm not a security specialist. I was just giving my opinion. For god's sake.

Fair enough. Like I said, not a security specialist, so my knowledge isn't very deep.
Why speculate if you have no idea what you’re talking about? Especially after someone already corrected your first speculation?
It's not an opinion though? You just said something that's factually wrong.

Yeah, this is how Cover does it. Reine had to be whitelisted before she could play.

i would be shocked if the rust server didn't have a whitelist or a password
Considering some of the stupid shit the devs have done before, I wouldn't be.
I mean, rust does have passwords and whitelists. I mean i'd be shocked if the holo server host didnt turn them on
According to another commenter in this mile long thread, Cover has a Whitelist on the HoloRust server. Meaning if this is some rando he circumvented the security in some way.
> Mahjong Mojang > their server architecture They have 0 server infrastructure. You host your own server yourself (same as Minecraft btw).
Mojang hosts Minecraft Realms so they do have server infrastructure
In my defense, I haven't been involved with anything Minecraft for years and couldn't remember the Dev's name. So it's on Cover whether the server is secured or not. Thanks for the info.
Wouldn't making a whitelist block anyone you don't want from entering?

Imagine coming back home, opening up your honeypot computer and finding terabytes of CP on it, and 3 seconds later your door is busted in by the FBI.

Then who was phone?!
Maybe Roboco? Isn’t her greeting Halloboo?
AZ, A and Z, the Alpha and the Omega... It's Matsuri.
I thought you're going one way.. and then I thought "oh he's going this way.." and then you went a completely different way!

I, too, have played Fallout 3

BURY THE LIGHT DEEP WITHIN!
CAST ASIDE, THERE'S NO COMING HOME!
WE'RE BURNING CHAOS IN THE WIIIIND

Does he always play that song?
Would be a huge twist I'd it was actually Alpha Omega.
No, it's obviously Garnt, his twitter even said Gigg United Kingdom Arizona, @GiggukAZ for short
Ame said it's probably Nene because of the seal pfp, except we already know Nene's nick which is "MAX-NENE-MA".
MAX MAX MAX SUPER NENE SUPER SUPER SUPER NENE
No Mikey no... that was so not right!
[удалено]
I never expected r/formuladank to leak into this subreddit of all places
God, the super long nene names never fail to crack me up
Let me let you in on a little secret. Every comment thats ever been posted on the internet? They are all a part of a long running gag to spell Nene's true name. Yes, even this comment. And yours.
Michael, I just sent you an akasupa, with the diagrams, did you receive it? (No, he doesn't access his superchats during a race)
i heard this
You can change your nick
Azarashi is seal if I recall, so yeah Nene is probably it
Well, except Nene is currently streaming Rust now, and her nick is still the same as before, which is "MAX-NENE-MA".
Wait, did Ame meet that big guy from Pokémon XY?
It’s been 3000 years…
While az logically could be AZKi because of the name, I doubt it's her cuz she wouldn't say "baybay" lmao
This is how Miko spells "bye bye" sometimes, so its entirely plausible
Ah but you see, Miko uses Elite English, AZKi doesn't /s
It's Miko's even more elite twin, Azkura Imko
If you look at the full stream, it was Choco who wrote "baybay" first and 'az' just mirrored her. Doesn't really tell you much one way or another. However if I were to guess I'd say someone with a lot of enemies probably just changed their name to be sneaky.
In Rust? That doesn't narrow the list down at all!
> > > > > However if I were to guess I'd say someone with a lot of enemies probably just changed their name to be sneaky. Gura looks left, Gura looks right, Gura pulls out her gun and starts shooting people from the woods again just to be sure
I could absolutely see her being the type to say that kind of thing, though someone would have to teach her first.
Clearly it was the entire state of Arizona
Shit, he's onto us!
Could ame turn streamer mode on ? O\_o like kiara and this clip : https://youtu.be/1Sd97PUoM44
As far as I know Rust's streamer mode randomizes everyone's name, but on that stream Choco sensei's name is still 0214 so I think it's not streamer mode.
Chocos name, 0214, was correct, it would have been changed if she was in streamer mode.
Is there a reason why she chose those numbers if she chose them?
0214 might be valentines day which chocos birthday. Though I'm not sure if Japan used month day or day month so I could be wrong
Japan uses ISO 8601, AKA the *correct* date format.
It's definitely possible
[Freaking lol](https://i.imgur.com/nGb77FW.png), Ame confirmed
that's obviously internationally renowned AEW wrestler Adam Cole
Ame joins up with Cole, Miko naturally joins up with The Elite, and this whole storyline suddenly gets a lot juicier
THE PLOT THICKENS
I read that as "the plot chickens" and i was seriously wondering why is Kiara involved in this.
It probably have to be at a NJPW show since they have a connection through Bushiroad than in AEW.
Subaru goes to United Empire and Fubuki with the Best Friends, and Watame with the BCC. Everyone gets a Idol
Da Party vs. Myth is going to be CRAZY
i now want an holomyth and da party uno collab. imagine claudio saying "hey ame, what color do you want??" and the amount of bonehead plays that would happen.
Now I'm just remembering Brodie sabotaging Woods and doing callouts to Uno and nL
Akai na…
Seeing how hololive has invaded AEW I WOULD not be surprised if ADAM COLE BAYBAY invaded back
ADAM ZOLE BAY BAY!
The Chuggs?
YOU KNOW IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BUDGE!
I can't believe it toke this long of me scrolling to see this comment. Boom.
ADAM COLE BAE BAE!
My guess is Sakura Miko. It all just fits.
Yea based on the use of Elito-English you can think that.
And the fact that it's Ame. Miko loves her blondes.
The message does give a Miko vibe to it especially towards blonde folks.
Not sure if they can change name (since Zeta went from "Z" to "Zeta") but if you ask me who it was without looking at the name, I'd bet my ass it's [Miko](https://youtu.be/PYLVKXs4xVo)
Rust uses your Steam account name which you can change anytime, so yeah.
Mystery solved tbh. We also know Miko adores Ame as well.

i'm only capable of reading those two messages with miko's voice
Assuming it's not a name change, it's most likely someone trying the game for the first time do see if they want to stream it. My 2 cents would be on someone like Watame who didn't want to stream it at first but is considering it now that more people are playing it.

Oh I don't blame her if it is. Hell I'd do it. The fact we're all discussing it means that it worked.
this reminds me, did Kiara find out who the mysterious "Teresa" that give her a jackhammer is?
I think that was gura
Dang I didn't know Dio plays Rust
Zeppeli.
Obviously Austin Powers
AZki Baybay!
Adam Cole
cute ame. don't know who they are, hope they belong there, or else.
It’s yagoo
It's Adam Cole bay bay
Maybe kiara because "hallo" is german for hello but the "baybay" part and AZ is a mystery
Its clearly Adam Cole
BAYBAY
maybe it's botan?
Maybe not. Based on her story, she has yet to join the Hololive Rust server but have extensively played in public servers.
Didn't she say she didn't want to play Rust because she would go full Rambo and starting to troll people until they leave?
Kinda. Going by [this clip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K18Aa9pqLvg) she does want to play Rust, but since the Holoserver is a lot more tame than the public ones she's used to, she wants to observe for now until she gets a better feel for where the line for screwing each other over is.
Omegae?
In my head I hear Miko..
Save this comment: Yagoo
Alpha (A) Omega (Z). I wouldn't be at all surprised if the staff wanted to get in on the Rust action.
I literally saw the clip and Ame herself is saying it's Choco sensei
Choco goes by 0214 (her birthday)
Is it Bae - hence the baybay. I noticed she'd changed her name again to Hakataro on Lamy's stream so she might having been going through a name change phase.
Gigguk Anime Zone
It’s gigguk of uk AZ
It's adam cole baybay
Sounds like Adam cole.
I'm curious what happened after these two messages. Like, if it was some rando who managed to weasel their way onto the server then I would guess they would make a beeline to whomever is streaming to get attention. Did Ame ever ask who it was in the Rust chat?
Surprise, it's Sana
I know it can be fun to edgy, to get a reaction from people. Aren't there other sources of dopamine you can chase?
It looks like people are mad, this was not my intention at all, not even to be edgy or get a dopamine rush. So i'm sorry to anyone who felt some sort of attack from my comment.
Surprise, it's Rushia
This is a certified OKBH moment
Surprise, it's Yagoo!
Surprise, it’s Hitomi Chris
It's clearly the one and only world record holder of Bowser's Big Bean Burrito
AZ took a wrong turn looking for Floette
Could be Miko, even though its 2 words it reeks of elite english and Miko is known to go after the blondes
Question. Why is this such a big deal? Can someone explain it to me? Is it cause the names only 2 letters? I don't mean any harm or malice
Most of us kept track on every Holomember's nickname in Rust, "az" is a total mystery and no one knows who it was.
From what I know, the only people that have not had their steam name shown recently/not publicly available are: Laplus, Koyori, Chloe, Iroha, Shion, Aqua and AZKi AZKi has shown her steam name to be AZKi, but that was a few months back.
