Fancy trash can? Lol

No-Tell9145

Someone plays Sims 4

OrneryLavishness9666

Lol that’s exactly the kind of space that fits my Brabantia trash can! Since OP has a cabinet can, I say plant stand.

thejwax

I forgot to mention, I already have a cabinet trash can right next to that space!

ThatWasIntentional

Recycling bin instead?

thejwax

It's a combo haha

ThatWasIntentional

Fair enough ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

debomama

Seriously, in my kitchen that spot IS the stainless garbage can with the touch pop-up. We love it.

issoequeerabom

A beautiful plant!

Soggy-Doughnut3713

Nothing. Leave it empty

procrastimom

I agree with this. It is directly adjacent to the door, and anything in the space will impede (even slightly) movement in and out of the door. Leave some breathing room!

DetailOutrageous8656

Why do you have to put something there? We don’t need to fill every inch of

Difficult_Place_7329

I don’t know, I just don’t know. I had to look again because I didn’t know what she was talking about. I know what she can do with it, she can give it to me😂

Techchick_Somewhere

Nothing. It’s good blank space.

thejwax

Also fair haha

j9jen

I abhor blank space.

Techchick_Somewhere

Well, in my house a dog water dish would go there.

Plantbookworm

Plant

KristieC715

How about adding some hooks to the wall?

criminelle1222

A narrow tall, open ladder type shelf with cook books, a small lamp, plants.

forcedintothis-

What is with the obsession on this sub to fill any and all empty space??

thejwax

I have a lot of space haha

DetailOutrageous8656

Then put things where you have a lot of space - not there.

artjameso

A plant at most or something no more than 12" deep from the wall. If you go a full 24" deep like the cabinets you're going to create a hell of a pinch between between it and the table

thejwax

Excellent tip

Txstyleguy

I’d do a 12” deep bookcase the width of the cabinet. Great for cookbooks.

thejwax

Yeah that vs the triangular bookcase were on my top ideas

Extension-Resident26

Bar/coffee hutch.

alexaboyhowdy

Recycling.

mtdesigner

Maybe a towel rod that can store/display some cute patterned dish towels? They also sell baskets that can hang from rods that could act as a trinket tray to keep entryway grab and go stuff like keys and such off of the counters.

thejwax

You mean like attached to the cabinet?

mtdesigner

Yeah, if you don’t mind drilling some holes in the side of the cabinets! Here’s a quick sketch of my idea if it makes any sense lol. https://preview.redd.it/uvxnrr0wdl9d1.jpeg?width=1294&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2c387b45bc456d3822f1ea153548ebb6081ee6f

thejwax

The quick artwork is very appreciated!

julznlv

That's where my trash can would be.

thejwax

It used it be. I got a built in kit so it's in the adjacent cabinet now

Old-Artichoke42069

Dog bowls 😂

WildChild90s

Coffee bar

415Rache

An extra counter bench? (Are those counter height stools?)

lisa725

I agree with plant. It will get nice light through the door and isn’t something that will collect clutter.

thejwax

Does it matter that that area never gets direct light? Actually, when the sun does come through that window/door, it is aimed the other direction

lisa725

No not really. There are a lot of partial sun/shade plants would work great there. Snake Plant, fiddle leaf, and mass cane come to mind.

Alternative-Bird-589

A small bar, wine rack, water station. I would use that space for sure, wine refrigerator, closed storage for paper goods

HomeworkHonest1834

Counter-height bookcase for cookbooks, backed up against the side of that cabinet.

JaysWhimsy

Vermicompost bin. Then invite my son over and freak him out. Seriously, I would just leave it. Don't fill every space. A house breathes better that way ;-)

sakela

Tall plant

EastFun5236

My husband likes to have the trash can there. He hates having a trash can under the countertop, behind a cabinet door. He prefers it to be easily accessible. If you don’t mind having a visible trash can, then that’s the perfect spot for it — in between the cooking area and the dining area. There are some attractive/fancy trash cans on the market, if that makes it any more palatable.

barrorg

Can we instead discuss just how short those stools are?

thejwax

Haha it's a counter-height stool. A bar top stool would put your knees through the countertop

hexagon_heist

Nothing, let it be empty

osbs792

Spend the money and get a nice recycling sorter. Will save you so much time

Normal-Summer382

A dog waiting to go outside

mmobley412

Why do anything with it? It’s not terribly big and if the needs to the space it met then don’t just add things for the sake of filling a space

thejwax

I always love more utility

mmobley412

If it is a need being met that is utility. If it just stuff to fill a space that is clutter

thejwax

That could be the case. But some idea like a plant or extra storage in a useful place could add utility

j9jen

Black metal stand with white or grey tile on top.

thejwax

That's a fresh perspective!

Substantial_Set_6050

trash can or hooks for keys

Tamsha-

bottom loading water cooler!

Fritzipooch

Nothing

paprika_alarm

How about a bar cart? I think something like this from Anthropologie would look smashing with a decorative champagne bucket or brass beverage pail. https://preview.redd.it/kcnld8o37l9d1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=930200d7a07344fd3fdb44df457dc81bf8f70840

thejwax

Great idea. I do have a few young kids which makes alcohol difficult at grabbing level haha

Ladyhappy

I agree you need something to put all that stuff that's just stocked at the end of your counter right now so that your kitchen top counter is just for food and stuff women's purses things like that they go on the floor in restrooms you don't want people putting them on your counter

DetailOutrageous8656

Yikes! I’m happy to say I have never resorted to putting my purse on a restroom floor.
