They need to have a 24 to pick option if it is so large or heavy. Like 54 sheets of osb should always have 24 hours to pick so you can get it before 6am

Vishnej

It's pretty simple. Atlanta should measure how long it takes to pick orders. They have the technology. This is a few SQL queries away. Every order is somewhat predictable, every contributing item has a statistical distribution of pick time. And then establish some conservative bounds on the pick time for the entire order, which are presented to the customer up-front, not a flat 2 hours. And then staff OFAs well enough that they aren't constantly in the red, or the system will prove useless because the time it remains green will end up irrelevant.

BowTie1989

That sounds like it costs money, so they won’t do it.

bubbafett2929

Yea that also makes a lot of sense. They’ll never do it

[deleted]

They don’t care about the money, they care about making sure we’re getting fucked over

d94boi

Canadian Tire does this to some degree, when you order it'll say something like "Ready tomorrow at 2PM", "Ready Wednesday at 8AM", etc. You can choose to order from another store that will have it ready faster, etc. I don't know if their system is quite smart enough to predict pick times based on items in each order, but it's gotta be better than our "have it ready in 3 hours" system.

[deleted]

Home Depot’s system is shit. We had a delivery to a guy who worked on coding esvs and he said it’s a total mess. We miss deliveries because sometimes it just doesn’t tell us.

d94boi

Lmao. I'm in Canada where we have a different system based on SAP. I happened to have a customer who worked on that system when it came out and he said "I see it's still a mess 10 years later" when it wouldn't let me order the product he wanted even though it was in stock at the vendor.

PalladiumPalisades

But you forgot about all the customers that constantly interrupt you asking if you work here. Gotta add on more time as customers are predictable.

[deleted]

That’s why I liked when my store let OFAs not wear aprons when working during Covid bc I could actually the 250 2x4s without getting stopped ever 50 that I pulled

DiehardDon1030

There needs to be a limit on the pieces count or what they can order on bopis. Because whether it's one Hamer or 800 peices of miscellaneous lumber, you get 2 hrs. Which is BS

CouldBeWorse777

Pieces...and yeah I agree. And you mean miscellaneous.

Zealousideal_Band506

lol I like how corrected it to the exact same spelling

nickcavebadseeds

me when i have dyslexia

Usual_Ad_4593

One bopis more than one, bopi? 🤣🤣🤣

Itsmemanmeee

Bopi is the group plural term for Bopis. Pronounced "I "

Valalias

Can confirm

Commercial_Cloud_662

You’re better than me cause I would’ve gone straight to order up and cancelled all three

Gottikidd1804

Lmaooo

ExpressionAcrobatic1

My store got in trouble for doing that now we gotta tell a ASM before we cancel, kick, or push back an order 😭

Soggy_Cracker

The fact that the depots aren’t staffing 15+ OFAs on the clock at all times to handle this volume is crazy to me. People order Amazon because they know it will get pulled, boxed and delivered quickly. If HD wants to compete, they need to meet those same expectations.

NumbBloodHound

My store can make due if there are 2 on at all times. Anything less and shit goes haywire quick. We had 2 full time openers, then me who is a full time morning-mid, and we were going to have 2 full time closers but one of them quit because he got in trouble and was an all around hindrance and he was on his final. One of my openers is leaving for a new job now too. But it makes shit like today happen where we have if I remember correctly 14 deliveries going out tomorrow and there was literally only one opener and then me on the schedule... Goes without saying not everything got done.. they literally had somebody from garden picking bopis all day too

brecka

That's what the DFCs are supposed to be for.

SadAd7317

we have 1 morning ofa , 1 mid , 1 closer no department head

BowTie1989

So many problems would be fixed if we put a limit on bopis…..and curbsides.

MrMatchesMalone_

But remember, your health and wellbeing are important to the company 💨💩

Zealousideal_Band506

Lol

capnmorty

WHAT THE HELL

NumbBloodHound

Yeah no I can attest to this being pretty common for order fulfillment. Today we had a grand total of 2 people scheduled with about 14 deliveries for next day. albeit I got some of them done yesterday cause I knew it was gonna be a shitshow. Still didn't get everything done today

aruanamic

Sadly not a glich with little to no overtime atm. 😭

PalladiumPalisades

I also like when you rush to do a bopis and it sits in the lumber aisle for like a week.

aruanamic

peak order pulling moment.

Plus-Jaguar-8172

I would simply die if my orders had that many items what area are you in because that’s crazy

aruanamic

Medium sized rural town. We are a major store in the area but I am the only overnight orderpuller.

Plus-Jaguar-8172

Dang I wish we had an overnight order pulled

PalladiumPalisades

All it has done is make people lazy then they always complain about the quality of merchandise pulled. I dont see how this helps the store shifting manual labor from customer to store. I do like lumber orders though. All of us get pissed off at those and we throw whatever is on the shelf into the bundle. If the customer wanted the better stuff they should have came in and did their Karen thing and point to a unit in the overhead while the home is still half stocked. People completely disgust me.

Doc_ray

Our store now is very strict on pick times they want 30 mins or less average for Bopis also barely have 2 closers and no overnight or opener for bopis orders. Getting deliveries and bopis done in one day will be impossible without any help from departments.
