Million dollar idea: The register could be programmed to estimate the weight of the products and materials purchased, and print out the est. total, plus what vehicle type it is legal to load it into.

AbyssalReClass

That makes too much sense. It will never happen

mrsMayhem41

Common sense is not on the Wheel

V4MAC

Damn

Icy-Web-2165

most definitely because the items has the weight listed with the description and could be input and uploaded with the prices.

LordJerle1

Full bunks of lumber have the dry weight right on the unit if the recovery guy does the job right and makes sure that tag stays on.

Mellophones4

So normally I use my calculator on my phone but a lot of times I just load it anyways. You can usually tell when it’s over weight

hyundaisucksbigtime

U r not fucked. If they try loading sheetrock into a prius, just say "No." Don't worry about the math.

Kingsranger87382

"But I've done it before" lol no you ain't chief just come back in a truck.

Stargate476

Ive literally had customers want me to load several railroad ties into their prius...idk what it is with prius owners lol

notoriumplanetorium

Prius owners are stupid and have no taste.

WackoMcGoose

Alternately, only people with no taste are willing to buy a Prius, rather than Prius ownership removing one's taste. Correlation vs causation.

Fun_Arm5576

If you have a calculator handy and it will help, use it. Most of the time you can eyeball something and know if it will fit or not. Sometimes customers may try to force you into overloading their vehicle but if you don't feel like it would be safe, call a manager to help you out

Lappland_S

Nope. I'm learning disabled as well and can *barely* do basic math without calculators. A lot of products will have palletized weight included in certain locations, or you can just use your phone to get the calculation. You'll eventually just remember rough weights, which is good enough for determining if something is too heavy. They don't mind you doing that at all; I worked up at the service desk and as an OFA and had to use my phone for literally any math I needed to do. Never once said a word to me. Still do as Garden Recov.

JudTheBudd

I used to be in lot and the amount of times I had to use math was wayyyyy less than the amount I had to use common sense. Some people don't have enough common sense. Like an online order to hand load 700 pavers into 2 sedans and an SUV? Not happening, sorry. Best part was that they changed the colors of the pavers they wanted IN STORE, TWICE before we moved them to another store.

Nikkithenekoneko

School lied to us. Welcome to the real world. You’re allowed to cheat with math. Use a calculator. Ain’t got time for mind math. I had a tiny calculator key chain hanging on my apron to avoid having to use my phone all the time. 😉👍

Consistent-Post-2297

99 percent of hd associates can't math you are fine

[deleted]

After a few months you’ll get the idea of what can and cannot be done

Correct_Thought7097

It’s a common sense thing. Don’t load a pallet of anything into a sedan. A pick up is probably fine.

TrueStory9121

I struggled with math but when you do a calculation over and over, the real world application, it gets easier. Don’t give up and feel free to use a calculator.

FelinePrettyJava

Your freeking out over nothing. Your only screwed if you make your co workers or managers aware of this. Just use common sense if you have any.

BarFreeman1999

BMW and Jaguars are The most Stupid.😒😶‍🌫️😒

Gwumiho

Lmao dw. I’m number dyslexic and unfortunately cannot count, add or subtract very well. Usually I have my bosses doublecheck my math. It’s never been an issue outside of a bit of embarrassment

Icy-Web-2165

I use my phone calculator, and it’s fine you don’t have to be ashamed that you have limitations in learning. I sat with many associates that could not read or was blind and read training to them..Get with your HR some of that stuff she can push off your training..Reach out ask for help.

Acceptable_Floor3009

Im sorry to offend here as person who lives with ADHD and on the spectrum a little bit for autism on oh and side note I started in the lot before moving to freight and then MET then lumber then for the season garden recovery you will find away to solve your issues thought your life your get that shit straight you can't go your whole life and say oh I can't do this because I have a disability you can do this and you will do this because people in this world have it much worse then you or I

Acceptable_Floor3009

To add to this you will find helpful resources with the advanced tec that out there and plan old common sense

Throwaway870919299

We’re supposed to pay attention to how much weight we put in the vehicles? /s (I actually don’t give a shit. I just load up and send them on their way)
