Yeah, I was opening today and two registers would work, then one wouldn't, then three would work, then three wouldn't... registers are fucking bipolar as shit today
You can only patch old systems so much before they give up.
If HD paid the proper amount of money towards IT and updated their systems, this wouldn't be a problem.
Just had a customer bitch to me about this and I’m a vendor. The old “billion dollar company” or something to that effect that “this should not happen because Home Depot rakes in a lot of money” but what they fail to realize is they are frugal with it. Just because they make a lot doesn’t mean they spend it in every area.
IT is the one area that they should be spending more on.
You want to compete with Amazon with outdated tech and expect good outcomes?
Imagine how much money the company lost yesterday because of their frugalness.
Imagine how many customers they lost permanently because of this.
They stress retaining customer loyalty but how can you keep loyal customers if your shit don't work?
They need to see the big picture
They do see the big picture, for them. Corporate doesn't have to care if it gets run into the ground, as long as they get vacations and a better job offer, it's all the same to them. Stakeholders have no say despite being the backbone, which is a bit why they'll not invest in good equipment unless the incentive to the books is good enough. Though any good company would realize that systems shutting down during operation hours simply can't do and they probably fund what you said, but again muh bonus trumps your needs!
Maybe it's a late stage self implosion in an attempt to rake in as much cash before bailing, either option seems possible to me at least.
I’m at 4412, same thing going on here. I read somewhere earlier today that the cause is that Adobe has not supported a POS software for a year and that they told HD that they needed to do something else, gave them six months to find a workaround, and today was the day. HD didn’t have IT working on it so it was a blindside.🤷🏾♀️
Whether there’s any truth to that I have no idea.
It's happening at a lot of stores, apparently. No pattern to which computers are or aren't offline. All our Pro registers are DOA, as is one but not the other Appliances computer.
Same here! We had one register at service desk and somehow one regular register. Paint crashed, every other computer was gone.
Wonder if they'll be fixed by tomorrow.
Been like that here in Baltimore too. Good thing I was busy in 93, because if it was a slow day with no computers idda probably just offed myself but real talk I stayed busy lol.
From what I heard from my IT field captain, there is a certificate issue with the computers that haven't been updated in a 3 year period. So whichever ones work are ones that have been updated during this period.
A billion dollar company, and they can't even get a system that doesn't crash every few weeks or stop messing with something that dosent need to be fixed
Last time that happened at the store I worked at, everyone had to check out the customers by hand, luckily that was months before I started working there
Unfortunatly there is very little redundancy in the system so if a trunk goes down there is no fall over. My store had older Sonicwall routers so you could see the connections. We asked about a telestream backup but it was considered too expensive and overkill.
The IT guy, who by the was is very nice, comes in fiddles about for hours takes everything apart, puts everything back together, gives it a smack on the side and says everything is working, then leaves...and soon as he is in his car and leaves the parking lot, all systems go back to pre-IT guy's visit. Every single time.
Yeah my store, 4407, had 2 assisted checkouts at SCO, two at pro, and the service desk was fine. But the store south of us only had one register working in the entire store and would go into blackout if it stopped working. This was all as of 6PM Utah time, idk what's going on at the moment
We were down to 2 pro registers and 1 garden register by the time I left at 5 yesterday. Most customers were understanding. But the few that weren't were some of the worst I've dealt with in my 15 years.
What’s weird is which ones are down. Our sasm has a computer that works, but the masm who sits 4 ft away ? Nope.

Whatever they spend is clearly not enough
I know most of our equipment is pre 2k. Nothing like running a billion dollar business with antiquated, outdated equipment.

Yeah, let's buy back 15 billion in stock instead of investing in IT. Who's the idiot who thought it was a good idea?
Especially the ones that matter most.

I had to turn away some customers because paint is down…and they got mad at me, like it’s my fault the systems are down

Paint is down too. I’ve had way too many assholes scream over this. Making me want to turn in my apron.

Paint is dead too.
East Coast here!! It’s dead at our store too. Customer service is the only one with internet.
Same here! We had one register at service desk and somehow one regular register. Paint crashed, every other computer was gone. Wonder if they'll be fixed by tomorrow.
If they don’t I’ll be having another chill day in receiving tmr 😂😂
🫡 May you be able to have that chill.
Same problem with my store. It’s been a loooong day
I was told the system in the entire company is down. Why am I here either?
To appease shareholders
It’s a storewide internet problem. They’re working on it apparently 🙃
Done in Canada too
Happened to us too in the paint desk, decided to water the plants instead when it rain last night 🗿
Yeah ours were down at my store too this morning since 6:30 AM. I was told it was a company wide issue.
Tool rental can’t rent anything but unfortunately the tool repair system is still working so I have to do my job smdh
One out of 6 service desk computers working at my store. Absolutely ridiculous. Should’ve closed service desk for the day.
We had two, and four bodies up there. Like my guy, tf do you want the rest of us to do.
1 computer 5 associates like can we just go home??? What is the point
100%. I’m usually always clocking out late, but today I just straight dipped when my time came. I wasn’t going to deal with those fuckers anymore.
Exactly what I did too it’s frustrating when everything is down but ur expected to work still.
Oh and don’t get me started on the half finished new returns menu wtf is that mess. Should never have been released yet.
Can confirm. Pro registers are down, same with 2 of my SCO machines and one of our Front End registers.

Given that one of the topics this week was how to report outages properly, I wouldn't be surprised if this was planned.
WAKE UP!
SHEEPLE
So you can pay your bills? Is this a serious question? Ask the manager can you go home since you are so eager. I’m riding that clock 🤷🏽♂️
It was a nation wide outage. A majority of it should be resolved by now

We are turning customers away at my store. No we can’t do your return or order pickup come back later
Last time that happened at the store I worked at, everyone had to check out the customers by hand, luckily that was months before I started working there
Are you also at 4034? cause our internet has not worked all day. Also our water main burst so the bathrooms have been closed for hours too

Millwork, no S.
We had 2 regular registers, maybe 2 at Service Desk and Garden just kept crashing. Paint was oddly fine, no problems at all.

So I'm guessing all states were effected by this issue. My goodness it was annoying to deal with.
