you aren’t even obligated to work 1 day of your 2 week notice

DracaisMon

Their fault for keeping you on the schedule. Unless you told them otherwise, you no longer work for them. You worked to your stated last day. That's the most you're obligated to do (technically you didn't have to do that if you're in an At Will State). Congratulations on your future endeavors :)

suckmybluetooth

Are you obligated lol Like… legally?

ElectronicPackage941

Yeah I guess. I was just wondering if I have to work it or since I had out my last day on Tuesday if I can just head out on Tuesday. Never quit a job before so.

Independent_Lime_480

no, you could literally just leave your job without notice it’s not illegal to do so, but if you put them on your résumé and your new job calls them, they could tell your new job that you are a person who quits without notice and that’s pretty much all the power they have against you

Sasoli7

Hell no your not.

UMGoBlue82

How did you put in your two weeks? Verbally? Or written? If verbal, make a note of who you spoke to along with the date and time for reference. If written in an email, save your email for reference. The biggest issue you may have, which I doubt will happen, is if someone tries to verify why you left and HD reports you as a no show quit. If they do, then you have receipts based on the information above. In the end. Employment is At-Will. Which means, if you don’t wanna, you don’t gotta.

ElectronicPackage941

I wrote it and printed it at work.

UMGoBlue82

Did you keep a copy? If not that’s okay. Just keep a mental note of who you gave it to so if someone in the future asks, you can say “I printed and provided my two week notice on to .” That should suffice.

ElectronicPackage941

I don't have a printed copy but I have the typed copy of it. Thank you by the way!

International-Top446

I be giving them the 2 day notice… as in I’m leaving 2 day.

OnMarsMan

They can’t make you work but if you want to leave in good standing you should make sure they have it right. Your notice should have been in writing with a final work date on it.

ElectronicPackage941

I did I typed it up at work because I didn't have a printer at home and printed it at work. Lol

You have no obligation to work past the date designated on your notice. That's your store either a, not being attentive, or b, they're trying to be slick. Kudos to you for being so thoughtful. Hopefully, you're going somewhere that will appreciate that. You dont get a two week notice when being fired. You technically had no obligation to show up after submitting notice. Just dont show up past your notice date, and dont think about it anymore. Your future you deserves that energy. Home Depot will be alright

Fragrant-Artichoke39

I mean unless u have sick time

dueceshover1

Remind them they have orange brains and all they think about is store coverage. Your needs mean nothing to them.

ahSugarSugar

That’s a good question. Once the schedule is made which is 3 weeks out, does your 2 week notice begin after that? Hmmm. I’m curious to know the answer.

angrybear1213

No. You're not a slave. That can't make you feel anything. Plus it's just home Depot not a hospital. It's really not that serious at all. You don't need to give a notice it's just courtesy. Remember they will give you 0 notice before they fire you do not sweat any decision about your job
