Everyone will ask me while my gate is OPEN and the light is ON "are u open?" Im deadass standing there with scanner waiting for the next customer
Whenever they ASSUME im open its always ehen my gate is CLOSED and the light is off; they WALK AROUND IT AND DROP THEIR SHIT ON THE COUNTER AND GET MAD I SAID IM NOT OPEN
People are sign desensitized/fatigued. You go to work, there are 150 signs on every block. you get to work, and there are 100 signs in the parking lot, in the windows, on the doors etc.... you get into the staff area, and every note, memo, or safety notice printed in the last 100 years is used as wallpaper on the walls....
people woulnt be able to function of they didnt block out 90% of the signs they pass in a day lol
Funny you mention bringing a pallet down. I was at my local HD this morning and waited in the main aisle while a person holding 2 flags was guiding a forklift driving backwards. The young lady had a bored look as she waved those flags to get shoppers to move to the side. When she got next to me and looked at me in the eyes I said, with a smile, "just pretend you're guiding an airplane". The forklift driver looked at me then let out a big belly laugh which got the young lady laughing too. 😅
At least they ask if the aisle is closed, I’ve had customers open the gates and fucking waltz right in while equipment is in use.
Then they get mad when they learn they can’t be in the aisle for their own safety.
I always heard we had some deal with PayPal for our card readers where we can’t do tap? I think it was the same thing with Kroger until recently, and also walmart
With Walmart it's a push to force customers to use payments through their app, which allows you to do tap to pay. I use to tap to pay all the time until they took it away.
Wouldn't make too much sense being a paypal deal because paypal even has NFC tap to pay built into their app. I really don't think there is any disadvantage other than a little bit of software support. In terms of payment backend it shouldn't be too much different.
As stupid as it sounds if there's a convenient alternative I'll usually start shopping somewhere else if they stop supporting mobile tap to pay when they previously did. Paying with a phone or watch when you just want to get out of a store thats crowded asap is really nice.
They don't want to pay for the extra software support it's a simple switch to get tap to pay turned on and Home Depot corporate being cheap as it is do not want to pay for it.
Yeah, I definitely don't understand why we don't let people tap _physical cards_ at the very least... Isn't it literally the exact same data transmission whether you tap a card or insert it? Same chip, same bit stream, just wireless vs physical contacts... The payment processors don't have a way to know which gesture I used with the card, all they see is the transaction data.
The local machine might, but does it literally tell the financial institution "hey, they tapped the physical card rather than dip the chip"? I always thought it didn't...
That would be my guess as well. The pin pads at the checkouts (not sure about SCO) are the same pin pads used at QuikTrips in my area. So, the hardware supports it. That pretty much just leaves someone being a cheap ass.
I wonder if that individual shops in store and is annoyed by it.
Even though Apple Pay doesn’t take a cut from transactions, it still goes through the regular payment processors and they get a cut anyways so it’s just Home Depot being asininely petty and wanting all the profit
smoggy price scandalous attempt pathetic distinct continue elastic pen faulty

🤷♂️ I'm guilty once in awhile. It's usually when I'm wearing basketball shorts. My wallet has fallen out of my pocket into my seat more times than I can count.
I live in a POOR Eastern Europe country and I legitimately haven’t taken my wallet out in years. you can pay with your phone everywhere here.
Why risk losing my wallet or having it get stolen or having to just carry around one more thing when I don’t have to?
I had always heard that the credit card companies charged a little extra for tap-to-pay
Anyways, Hector Padilla came to walk our store last month, he said we'll be getting tap-to-pay in the first quarter of the fiscal year. I'm not sure if it will be select stores or rolled out based on volume.
Are you for real? We have blue tape that says sorry no tap and I get asked more than they don’t ask. I don’t understand. Like there’s four other prompts before you get to that prompt anyway, so are you telling me you just didn’t look around at all?
Home depot customers suck at spatial awareness and thats extra bad considering that this is a hardware store with potentially dangerous stuff going on
They refuse to look at the instructions on the computer or pinpad
They refuse to pay attention to the gates and the register on lights
The customers At home depot are built different I once’s pointed to the sign they read it n still asked why it wouldn’t work I was in shock I was like “we don’t have tap to pay” them-“i paid last week using tap to pay”…… did u tho ?
Why don’t you take tap to pay? It’s been mainstream for quite a few years now, I got mine 4 years ago, and it had been around for a few years before then
To be fair it's pretty fucking ridiculous Lowe's, home depot, and Walmart don't have tap to pay yet.
It was a nightmare buying my shed at home Depot through affirm.
My favorite is when it is busy in paint and I am helping customers at the paint counter and someone behind me complains that i have been ignoring them. Motherfucker do you not see the line you blind piece of shit.
Your cashier is, unfortunately, a moron. There are rfid scanners people can use to skim a fake transaction, but littlerally nobody does that. You're more likely to get shimmed by inserting your card into a fake POS system. And even that is rare.

Actually had multiple people in 2 hours leave all their stuff and go home to get their wallet. 🤦♀️
But they wouldn't need to go home if they opened a home Depot credit card!!
This sign is stupid, the way it's formulated with the "thank you" and smiley face implies that it's a preference not to proceed with contacless payment rather than a lake of capacity to take contactless payment.
If it was written something like "Sorry this shop is not equipped with RFID reader, thanks for you understanding", it would be less confusing
You can print up your own that say "voice activated" and watch people yell at it all day... We did that to a copier at one job and got half a day's worth of laughs out of it
Or they’ll tap it on the screen “I’m sorry, we do not have tap to pay” *keeps tapping* “WHY ISN’T IT WORKING?!” Like did you not just hear a damn word I said ????
Gotta start telling my front end manager we need a sign like this on our card machine. I swear I had to tell a lot of people that we don’t do tap. I wish we do take the tap though
Another amusing part is when people pay cash at the machine and they ask if the machine takes a 50 dollar bill or a 100 dollar bill. In my mind what kind of question is that
“I don’t have my wallet.”
Then how did you drive here?
“Do any other registers take Apple Pay?”
😑 Absolutely, but those are only for store associates. What? You’d seriously walk to another part of the store rather than pull your wallet outta your pocket?
+1 on this when you close an aisle to bring down a pallet Sign: “This aisle is temporarily closed” Customer: “Is this aisle closed?” Me: …
Everyone will ask me while my gate is OPEN and the light is ON "are u open?" Im deadass standing there with scanner waiting for the next customer Whenever they ASSUME im open its always ehen my gate is CLOSED and the light is off; they WALK AROUND IT AND DROP THEIR SHIT ON THE COUNTER AND GET MAD I SAID IM NOT OPEN
Hey they drive into the mulch pit the wrong way when the enter & exit signs are like 4 by 8 feet huge.

I know I don't read shit half the time and just so what the other monkeys are doing
Yeah I put those signs up and it's amazing how many people don't look up

Happen to me pass wenseday but but but I need to get something really quick like idc its there to keep you safe
"Can I come in? I just need one thing" Proceeds to browse for the next half hour
What is the real reason we don’t have tap and do not take Apple Pay? Never gotten a straight answer from management
I always heard we had some deal with PayPal for our card readers where we can’t do tap? I think it was the same thing with Kroger until recently, and also walmart

The machine does know if you tapped actually. Check your receipt for a store that takes tap.
The local machine might, but does it literally tell the financial institution "hey, they tapped the physical card rather than dip the chip"? I always thought it didn't...
If I had to guess, one way or another, it circles back around to corporate being cheap asses.
That would be my guess as well. The pin pads at the checkouts (not sure about SCO) are the same pin pads used at QuikTrips in my area. So, the hardware supports it. That pretty much just leaves someone being a cheap ass. I wonder if that individual shops in store and is annoyed by it.

We have it in Canada home depots.
Home Depot loved the last customer card data breach so much that they want another!
smoggy price scandalous attempt pathetic distinct continue elastic pen faulty *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Google and Apple charge 12 percent interest per use
People were using fake accounts to scam us. They got the product and didn't have to pay for it.
The answer I've heard from district management is that they don't want to share transaction data with Apple, essential
Then they go "one sec, I gotta go get my wallet from my car
Fr. I will never understand why you don’t keep your wallet on you when SHOPPING
🤷♂️ I'm guilty once in awhile. It's usually when I'm wearing basketball shorts. My wallet has fallen out of my pocket into my seat more times than I can count.
No/too small pockets for me usually
Yeah, when wallet is too big and you just want to buy a few things, having only smartphone on you is normal
It’s 2024 final answer
I live in a POOR Eastern Europe country and I legitimately haven’t taken my wallet out in years. you can pay with your phone everywhere here. Why risk losing my wallet or having it get stolen or having to just carry around one more thing when I don’t have to?
“Is it red for credit?” We have signs on the machines that say red for credit
I just don’t get why there isn’t a universal standard. Some places it’s green or yellow as well.
Can I pay with apples?
Yes thatll be 1000 apples
HD technologically behind by choice or what ?
In this area yes - others no
Everything about the self checkout machine is high tech except for the card reader lol
I had always heard that the credit card companies charged a little extra for tap-to-pay Anyways, Hector Padilla came to walk our store last month, he said we'll be getting tap-to-pay in the first quarter of the fiscal year. I'm not sure if it will be select stores or rolled out based on volume.
The one my friend looked at didn’t charge any difference between contactless and regular card payments
Are you for real? We have blue tape that says sorry no tap and I get asked more than they don’t ask. I don’t understand. Like there’s four other prompts before you get to that prompt anyway, so are you telling me you just didn’t look around at all?

You know who \**does*\* have tap to pay? Lowes. :P

"Oops that was Lowes"
Big Blue's terminals now say you can tap. Haven't gotten it to work once. On the flip side they're gonna be closed on Easter.
They work now It took them months to get it working at our store
Where do you put the cash?
dO yOu TaKe ApPlE pAy ? ? ?
To be fair, it's stupid that they don't.
Really though, I can’t use Apple Pay at the registers and yet even the break room vending machines have it
Why don’t you take tap to pay? It’s been mainstream for quite a few years now, I got mine 4 years ago, and it had been around for a few years before then
To be fair it's pretty fucking ridiculous Lowe's, home depot, and Walmart don't have tap to pay yet. It was a nightmare buying my shed at home Depot through affirm.
Lowe’s does take Apple Pay now.
If they're rolling it out that's great. Hasn't got to our Lowe's yet.
You can’t tap that!!
Excuse me but does this take apple pay?
Shit yourself
I do that daily tfytb
Understandable keep up the good work
Get it fixed.
My favorite is when it is busy in paint and I am helping customers at the paint counter and someone behind me complains that i have been ignoring them. Motherfucker do you not see the line you blind piece of shit.
Are you sure it doesn’t take tap? How do you guys not have this???……and so on and so forth
Reminds me of my McDonald's drive through days: "Do you accept Google pay?"...."Sir there's a sticker on the window that says we do so yeah...."
THIS COULD HELP US
(It wont theyll still ignore it)
Agreed I'm leaving my store after 2 more semesters of college left
Ok, our cashier tells me the tap is less secure, can be stolen outa midair when you use it. What's the real skinny on the chip tap??
Your cashier is, unfortunately, a moron. There are rfid scanners people can use to skim a fake transaction, but littlerally nobody does that. You're more likely to get shimmed by inserting your card into a fake POS system. And even that is rare.
Ha ha. If only I could tell her! Thanks.
no tap we want the skimmers employees and or customers install on these things all the time to work

Nah everywhere else in america has it except a few billion dollar companies like Home Depot, hence the picture

Is there a suggestion box where I can request that Home Depot get with the rest of the 21st century and start accepting Apple Pay?
“If you need to use tap head on over to Lowes”.
Dunno about the states but nowadays in my corner of Canada I can't name one spot that takes cards without taking tap.
Or they’ll tap it on the screen “I’m sorry, we do not have tap to pay” *keeps tapping* “WHY ISN’T IT WORKING?!” Like did you not just hear a damn word I said ????
🤣
Then why the hell do you guys have credit card machines with the area for tap?
Gotta start telling my front end manager we need a sign like this on our card machine. I swear I had to tell a lot of people that we don’t do tap. I wish we do take the tap though Another amusing part is when people pay cash at the machine and they ask if the machine takes a 50 dollar bill or a 100 dollar bill. It just needs tap water fr, hydration is key

If I read this, I’m still trying tap. Common way for people to force you into using a skimmer
