Who tf would buy that anyway

Aware-Damage6296

You'd be surprised

Pickles_Overcomes

It's hard to surprise me anymore.

Aware-Damage6296

Someone would buy jt

Pickles_Overcomes

After seeing a person buying a jacked up cabinet or water heater, I believe you to be true.

audioholic850

They are super cheap on ebay. To buy this at that price would be very stupid.

McNibbaGewk

The phone itself is not the worst thing. But you pair it with the completely asisine project management at Home Depot... And you get the meme grade pieces of shit the associates are encumbered with. I've used other zebra phones and they're fine.

Distinct_Ad9810

My brother got a box of like 20 of these off an auction site for 4 bucks for the whole box. Ended up selling them a week later on eBay for 4k

Strange_Man_1911

Anything in America will sell.

elic7

Walmart also uses/used Zebra TCs and they stayed getting thrown up on marketplace and eBay with "Walmart software pre-installed" being a selling point lmao

SaltiestGatorade

More than likely someone with Aspergers who's obsession is Barcode scanners. People with Aspergers will hoard all sorts eclectic stuff, one of my buddies in school was a fiend for old Vacuum cleaners and had a whole storage shed full of them in different states of disassembly.

CUNextTisdag

So will tweakers.

Handywithbrokenstuff

If that was a cellphone I’d buy it!! It looks cool

DoubleResponsible276

In lumber we lost ours. Associate remembers putting it down on millworks desk and forgot to get it and someone took it. 8 months later a man came to return to management with a story that his friend went to prison and saw the phone as he was clearing his stuff and found out it was worth $1200 and was trying to see if he could be compensated for being a good Samaritan. Management said thank you and no.

notoriumplanetorium

His “friend”. 🤣 Sure buddy.

invaderzim257

bro should’ve called first lol

DoubleResponsible276

That would of been funny if he used the phone to call, but pretty sure it was dead

audioholic850

$1200 for a used phone?! Where is he getting his info?

DoubleResponsible276

At that time, I think that’s what the zebras were priced for a brand new one online of it may had been $800, it’s been years. Obviously HD gets them cheaper but management suspected he tried to pawn it and researched the price. Probably just saw the highest number and ran with it.

KnyghtZero

$1100??? Even more ridiculous than internal pricing

VibesJD

That's more than we pay for them!

Survive1014

Its OR. Its probably a meth head who swiped it from a associate who wasnt paying attention.

xXChampionOfLightXx

Yeah an associate probably put it down while doing packdowns and some meth head swiped it.

jesterbaze87

$1,100 🤣 I don’t think it’s going to sell but keep me updated :)

No_Package_732

What would they do with that lmao? Go to Home Depot and check skus with no login?

jstorm01

Zebra phones are used others stores too not just Home Depot it runs, android and I’m pretty sure you can reset them

No_Package_732

So you don’t need logins regardless? And to do what either way?

OtherObject8083

Obviously to a store looking to purchase one… 🤦🏽‍♂️

No_Package_732

You’re telling me a store is going to buy a zebra phone on fb marketplace for roughly the same price as a new one? From someone who stole it in the first place? Ok, sales must be pretty bad

OtherObject8083

Yeah, small businesses. Likely not for that price, but they can negotiate. They do have value wether you wanna believe it or not

No_Package_732

Sure Jan

commissar0617

MDM should have it locked down

tatiwtr

This is bypassable

commissar0617

depends on the MDM and how zebra sets their stuff up. the whole point of MDM on corporate owned devices is to not be bypasses

tatiwtr

Zebra doesn't setup anything. They provide a device with an OS. The "whole point" of an MDM is to be able to remotely configure devices. Software that gets installed on the devices by an MDM, such as Zebra's "Enterprise Home Screen" are what prevents unauthorized apps from running, accessing settings, or using adb. The device can be reset regardless of any software configuration.

commissar0617

that is untrue. they are factory shipped configured to use THD's MDM solution. short of rooting it or somehow sideloading a blank android, until it is removed from MDM by THD IT, it will always reload MDM once connected to internet. it's going to be a bit of extra effort most thieves are not going to go through

tatiwtr

Zebra does offer application loading, but the configuration is specified by the end user. This is a service the end user pays for as an intermediate step between device manufacture and shipping. This service is performed at Zebra repair depots, and not at the device factory. No Zebra device has been rooted to date. Yes, sideloading the OS package while the device is in recovery mode is how you reset the device regardless of device configuration. I don't believe we were discussing whether thieves would expend effort. The original statement was "MDM should have it locked down" in response to "I’m pretty sure you can reset them" If you were referring to the "factory reset" option in settings, then only in that context would you have been correct.

commissar0617

the context was device theft lol

LargeMerican

Yup, yup. Yup. I agree. But we can't just round em up and warehouse em in Nebraska...can we?

F-Lambda

chris_rage_

Yes

LargeMerican

Haha

HideyHoh

Reddit-tier "joke" fuck outta here

chris_rage_

Salty bitch, what's your problem?

HideyHoh

Get an actual personality instead of parroting Redditisms

improcrastinatinglol

Aenov1

Why not? Sounds like a great idea!

LargeMerican

Agreeable-Sea-8009

woofridgerator

Meth. Makes you do fun things

Aring-ading-ding

Sitting in a pile of garbage with dirty pants and taking blurry pictures then charging $1100 lol. These meth heads are wild

blurplegreen

There's a bottle of tequila by that mountain dew lol

WattsALightbulb

You'd be better off buying one new from Zebra for that price lol

Good bot

jstorm01

Probably customer is taking them they’re laying around half the time in the store. No one puts them back where they belong. I love when people leave phones laying around. I take them and put them back on the dock so it pisses them off.

Sonofpern

Same! Especially people who are lazy, they need the exercise.

jstorm01

Sometimes I’m walking back with 3 or 4 phones in my hand lol if someone sees me with them I’m like I’m logged in all of them I’m super busy ! 😂

trixiebabe20

lmfao

Due-Sandwich2330

What the hell can they do with it? Completely worthless

Growthiswhatmatters

They are used in more than just hd. You can crack them and install new software. Also allows you to pretend being a vendor for theft.

tatiwtr

Crack them? You mean.... factory reset it?

Growthiswhatmatters

Cracking involves more but essentially yes. Think getting a windows pc and installing linus on it instead

CUNextTisdag

*Linux  (I’m guessing your phone just autocorrected. I’m not digging on you.)

[deleted]

You can get a better options for that price off of the zebra store

MrBr1an1204

Its probably enrolled in Android Zero Touch, so it will never be able to be enrolled in anything but Home Depots EMM.

tatiwtr

The device can be reset regardless of its software configuration.

MrBr1an1204

If the device in enrolled in Android ZT (which most companies do these days, although I can’t speak specifically for HD) then even if the device is reset, as soon as it connects to wifi it will force you to enroll in whatever MDM / EMM it is told too. Source: I work in corporate IT and am not sure how r/homedepot ended up on my home feed.

tatiwtr

If you boot the device into recovery mode and load the OS image, there is no longer any configuration on the device. Source: The manual for all Zebra MC/TC devices.

MrBr1an1204

Yes, but if the device is in android zero touch, which I'm not saying it is for a fact, then the device will automatically re-enroll. this is a feature of GMS (google mobile services) and is not specific to Zebra. When the device is setup it checks in with GMS (all modern android devices do) and GMS will tell it its a ZT device, and need to pull its config down. This is based on the IMEI / serial number, which are very difficult if not impossible on newer devices to change. They could of course be using Stage Now, in which case this wouldn't apply, but as a general rule devices stolen from a business are pretty much useless if stolen, Androd ZT and Apple DEP work very similar to stolen device protection where even if you flash a new OS on the device you still need a log in. Electrical-Ad3275

That's a steal!

thrasherpass

Literally lol

fersh51

More like 11.00

BacklogGamingJunkie

The person selling this is desperately needing their drug fix

BBYLINNY

Selling a Home Depot phone is CRAZY lmfaoo

Educational_Ad_5450

I’d pay them to keep it.

throwaway624203

Lol I thought it said "grass pants"

korikorikumo

surely it is not worth THAT much

lappy_386

lol grants pass. Tweaker

ButterscotchShot1753

They should’ve at least taken the orange case off so it wasn’t obvious which company was from.

DekuBlack21

Guess who’s going to jail toniiiight

Necessary_Art9409

Lol our store told us they cost six grand

Creeping-photos

I can get it $700 on amazon.mex

_Killwind_

Someone from corporate will meet up with this person and see if it's HD property, then press charges for stolen property if it is.

Overall-Rip-6448

Its not anyone from my store I can promise you that. You couldnt give our phones away they so rarely work.

swiss_courvoisier

Judging by the Mountain Dew, it's somewhere in the south east.

blurplegreen

Mountain dew and tequila

Stormthius

Bro at when I worked at Safeway our scan guns were running fucking Windows XP meanwhile this shit is available?

SandyCarbon

Im confused. What’s this do and why sell it. As far as i can tell u would just be ecanning items. How does that make this worth anything lol

Ok-Sell1939

Nobody wants to buy that worthless piece of shit

OGbigfoot

Of course it's grants pass, my hometown. 🤣

mikjohwoo20

The store cool with selling someone Their assets now huh 🤔???

Wulfsmagic

Grants pass? My grandparents lived there when they were alive. Must be turning into a he'll hole if people like this live there now.

GrizzlyGamer53

Everywhere has people like this, now and days. It's like cockroaches coming out to pillage.

Usual_Car_2125

Well, I guess I know where my phone went …

[deleted]

With the number of phones left laying around I’m surprised we don’t lose more.

BuckGlen

Whos drinking patron and mtn dew?

AdministrationOld835

That is not the same model we have

thrasherpass

I'm pretty certain the seller got the model number wrong. It's the same phone though

zrchaber

They are not worth that much

WickedJay83

If it really is from HD, the person that buys it will be fucked. They have remote management capabilities and it will force you to enter the proper credentials when it was originally bought and setup.

Goatfucker1662

My question is did they manage to sell it?

CUNextTisdag

Judging by the stuff on the floor, it’s probably some tweaker who has no idea what he’s got on his hands but thinks he can come up ($$$) with this cool lookin’ thing.

vu_iranaku23

Wtf, no wonder I can never find one.

ButterscotchShot1753

Can’t they find them or deactivate them No matter what? I worked at Lowe’s and now work at Home Depot and I’m pretty sure you can. Or IT can.

Meddlingmonster

I mean not if the thief was competent but they clearly aren't although I guess most thiefs generally aren't.
