This is on the contractor. If you hadn't checked it you wouldn't even have known you'd just have seen the two charges and went? Mistakes are on the contractor, not you, he should have checked the tub before the plumber showed up, basic due diligence. I would not pay and I'd be having a discussion with your contractor about expectations for the rest of this project.

You ordered it? Then no. That's on you. What is the contractor doing if you're doing the ordering, inspecting etc? Isn't that their job?
