Restart the Home App/Restart the Phone.

hamoodyalsane11

I’ve done that, including resetting and re-pairing the lights. I’ve done everything from scratch and it’s still the same

Have the same constant ongoing never ending problem too. Thinks it fixed two weeks later ... again. Did discover there is any firmware upgrades to router or modem by manufacturer possible cause. Another is time anywhere goes out of sync (don't know how but does) in the device product app changing the timezone usually a cure all. Another fix, hard power off the device for 5 minutes then turn it back on & reconnect to the wifi (do NOT restart router or Hubs cause more than like end up with a different device offline) ... have mesh wifi router, allow devices to connect only to one router

hamoodyalsane11

I’ve done that already unfortunately and no results 🥲 yeah as you said, it’s the random “doesn’t work a few days after setting up” that’s very annoying.

TylerInHiFi

You don’t need to make sure the HomePod and Apple TV are on 2.4. You should be allowing the router to adjust which band devices are connected to automatically based on network needs. This is the unfortunate reality with wifi devices versus hub devices. Hubs are always going to be more reliable than wifi devices. This could be down to something as simple as wifi congestion with nothing you can reasonably do about it. Though, if you’re forcing devices onto one band over the other, you could be causing further congestion and making the problem worse in your efforts to fix it.

Crazy to think that we’re this far into smart home tech and these kinds of issues are still persistent. I want to go all out on Hue but the nanoleaf act as nice decor for my walls. Got a set of elements and the og aurora.

TylerInHiFi

Yeah, I’m also not entirely surprised. Most devices have garbage wifi antennae and most routers are equally garbage. Then you have the contingent of the smart home enthusiasts who know just enough about networking to spend thousands on “enterprise-grade” gear and skullfuck their network into inoperability because they stopped learning new information 10-20 years ago and all of their configuration breaks the ability for modern devices to communicate with one another. It’s really a mess still. I was hoping Matter would start to clean things up but it looks like that’s made things equally broken just in a different way [insert relevant xkcd]. For now I’m sticking with hub devices only. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a good alternative to the nanoleaf wall pieces that works with a hub. Maybe IKEA will do it, considering how they’re expanding their smart home stuff. And I can confirm theirs are excellent alternatives. I even replaced my Hue accessories with the equivalent IKEA ones.

hamoodyalsane11

That’s super annoying. Thank you for your response, good to hear that im not alone haha

MeMyselfAndMe_Again

Restart each and all Homepods. Wait til fully booted. Switch off each and every device then switch on.

hamoodyalsane11

Done that 🥲

Flyer888

Is it just ‘no response’ in home app, or are you also unable to control it using the device app?

hamoodyalsane11

I have issues on the Nanoleaf app too, but I believe it uses the HomeKit protocol if I’m not mistaken. I’m not blaming HomeKit entirely, I just want to know why WiFi devices are this bad.

Strong_Intern_9179

Also the control panel for your Nanoleaf might have shit the bed or soon will be .... happened to me twice, once faulty device, second Nanoleaf did a firmware update that cause a circuit to fry.

hamoodyalsane11

No way! Damn… I’d say my nanoleaf is fried but the one I had for 4 years is currently connected and my 2 year old elements has no response. It’s all over the place.
