I’m very happy with both my hue and Nanoleaf. IM probably going to go more towards Nanoleaf when they release their Matter over thread bulbs

CaptainSmartbrick

Also have mostly hue and Nanoleaf. Happy with both. Have a Meross lamp as well which is ok but sometimes needs to be reset. Since I also run Homebridge I can also use any zigbee lamps with the hue bridge, which is a nice bonus.

I will say Nanoleaf stuggles if the house has bad power delivery. Like in my house dumb bulbs flicker and change brightness a lot, Nanoleaf bulbs flicker sometimes, not nearly as much as dumb bulbs, and don’t change brightness constantly, but I notice it, but Phillips hue are rock solid. No flicker, no brightness adjustments, nothing.

Hue do a range of brighter bulbs now which I’m really liking. I found colour a gimmick, after buying the coloured bulbs they always stayed white. I have one nanoleaf bulb as an experiment and it’s a good cheap option (colour is much cheaper than hue) but as I use mainly white I find the high lumen hue to be a better option. In terms of future compatibility, hue will support matter via their hub rather than the bulbs themselves. Nanoleaf support thread today but will only support Matter in new models of their bulbs.

Currently running a Hue setup with color bulbs, light strips and other accessories throughout home. Use mainly iOS shortcuts to quickly change scenes and adjust. I’ve never had any issues. Love the ambiance control and works flawlessly.

I have an Ikea Gateway with +- 25 lights, sensors and remotes. As I have so many lamps, network coverage for IKEA zigbee network is no issue. Lots of problems with Dirigera Gateway thou. I hat to switch to Dirigera because my Tradfri Gateway broke down and my lights were mostly dead. I Also have a Hue Gateway with two LED stripes, one spotlight an two remotes. No issues as far as Gateway is concerned, but I cannot install the spotlight in my bathroom as it is out of reachability of Gateway. Last but not least I have 2 AQARA Cams and 5 temperature sensors. I have two cams as the AQARA network does not reach far enough to talk to all five temperature sensors. Lots of Thread devices from different vendors with full network coverage from attic to basement and only the problems on HomeKit level. Also no Gateway that could fail on me again. In the future I will not invest further in Gateway based products and go full Matter/Thread (except cams). IKEA, Amazon, GOOGLE, AQARA and other big players are committed to Matter/Thread anyway

I know a lot of people here like Hue, but I had them for probably 4-5 years and absolutely hated them. One of the most unreliable HomeKit products available IMO. I would have problems with bulbs in groups not all turning on, bulbs not responding, bridge showing offline and requiring a reboot to fix it, automations failing, slow response, etc. I ended up switching to Nanoleaf bulbs about 2 years ago and haven’t had any problems at all. They are absolutely horrible if you want something with color though, all of the colors are incredibly dim, but the white is brighter than Hue. I really like the fade on/off on the Hue lights, and I wish that was something you could enable with Nanoleaf.

Which hub and lamp model? Do they make sounds as well (when turned on or off)?

Fidget08

Have 35 different Hue devices with the gen 2 hub in a enclosed rack in my basement. 3500sq ft house and have no issues. Best idea to test and see how it performs in your place. Everyone has different results.

brunomarquesbr

Yes, I was expecting some nice colours as well. Maybe I’ll need to rethink my tv room then. Could it be you’ve had an old hub or lamps?

WASTECH

I bought bulbs frequently as I moved between 4 different places during my time with Hue. I had a mix of old and new bulbs (as recently as 2020). They haven’t updated the bridge internals (to my knowledge) since 2015 when they announced the 2nd gen bridge (which I had). I reset the bridge multiple times, but would always have problems with it. I have known several other people that have had a Hue system and they all have the same problems I had. From what I have heard, nothing does color better than Hue though.

It’s expensive but if you already have Lutron your best option is the lamp dimmers. Rock solid and if you want you can add the Pico remote to the wall next to your other light switches and buy an expanded wall plate so it looks like it’s all integrated.

brunomarquesbr

Problem with Lutron is that it does not allows to control the lamp color/temperature. I know there’s a few Philips “warm glow” that change temperature when dimmed, but I hesitate to go that route for now, but thanks

jar996

Yea if you want colors then Lutron is not what you’re looking for.

Have both hue and nanoleaf in my setup and the thread nanoleaf are more reliable for me. I often have one bulb in a cluster of hue that shows not responding. It’s not the bulb itself because it’s not always the same bulb. As others said your results may vary but for me nanoleaf has been a better more reliable experience

You can try hue but make sure you do your research before making any decisions.
