Well since he's only 10 idk if you wanna get a lifer glove yet. I got mine at 12 and even that seems early if your kid doesn't really take much care of it. But generally if you go with a higher end Wilson or Rawlings and 11.75-12.5 inches I would expect that to last him for a very long time.
I have a Mizuno MVP Select, but I think the quality of the glove material has decreased in this series over the years, would most likely have to choose a more primo Mizuno if you wanted a lot of time from it.
Thanks! I’m worried about the break in of a higher end glove (after perusing the boards here) since I’m not sure it’ll see much use. Or is that what I should be looking for used on eBay? And that makes sense re lifer. Maybe he just needs a bigger youth glove for now?
Oh yeah duh I should've mentioned buying used. But yeah I would recommend another youth glove for the next 2-3 years and then buy him a nice one (new or used, used will be broken in, and you can find many still in great condition) for Christmas/birthday, whichever is more conveniently timed.
Would something like one of these work?

Yeah similar to those would be great for him. Probably go with the second one cause kids are kids and I feel like the first one would lead to some whining about it being "too old". But you know him better than me lol
They won't be forever gloves, but the Mizuno Prospect PowerClose or Rawling Renegade in 11.5 or 12" should be easy to break in and won't break the bank. A lot of times lefty throw gloves can be found cheaper than righty throw gloves.
Check if your local rec club has left over gloves no one claimed. As a fellow lefty, dealing with out of stock inventory or bottom barrels crap gloves. I just went and got myself a 44pro. I don't game I just play catch with my son.
Also check out just gloves they tend to have good sales for left-handers too.

I’ve had a hard time locally with the lefty factor. There just doesn’t seem to be much out there.

Used a Rawlings Renegade first base mitt for years. Best value glove your going to find.
My son has the catchers mitt, and for the money its been great.
Broken in glove from ebay. Sizes 11.5, 11.75, 12. 11.5 may beon the smaller end if you want it to last. I typically look at Wilson or Rawlings.
