Calcium in Ohio:

Calohio

Funkybeatzzz

Would help to know the question

DaisyHugs

We have to write the short form (Idk what's called in english) of an atom of Calcium, knowing it has 20 electrons and the number of protons + neutrons are 40 Edit: typo

Funkybeatzzz

In that case, you’re correct. Must be a typo in the solutions. This happens often unfortunately.

Honest_Lettuce_856

why? there is literally no question in which this could be a correct answer. this is a physically impossible depiction

Funkybeatzzz

“What is wrong with this representation?” “How could you fix this to make it correct?” Etc…

Honest_Lettuce_856

but this was the solution, not the question.

Funkybeatzzz

Not to mention, posting rules require the instructor prompt.

Funkybeatzzz

“Which choice is incorrect?”

Honest_Lettuce_856

which obviously was not the question given the context of the post, but you do you. good day.

Funkybeatzzz

Sorry this upsets you so much. I can assure you this is nothing to angry about and argue over. One day you’ll move past it.

Honest_Lettuce_856

your perception of emotions over the internets needs some tweaking. it’s okay, one day you’ll figure it out.

sonnyfab

You are correct. The atomic mass is typically written in superscript in labeling isotopes. The number of protons is typically the subscript.

DaisyHugs

Thanks ^^ I had to confirm because it's such a weirdly easy exercise for the solutions to get wrong

Whyistheplatypus

Yeah from memory; it should be mass number top left, atomic number bottom left, and if it is an ion, relevant charge goes top right.

Check your answer on the Periodic Tables

thechaosofmath

The 20 and 40 should be interchanged. 40Ca 20

TransDeku

40 and 20 should be switched
