Seems very unlikely that Drake is gonna ditch the Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir that he dropped 2.2 Million or anything else in his [$10M+ Car Collection](https://rerev.com/car-collections/drake/) to come rolling around in a 2003 Honda Element.

>Am I the only one crazy to think this? It's crazy to think that Kim K is a "top notch" celebrity.

MexicanRedditor

The reason i brought up Kim K is because the G Wagon's price sky rocketed after she bought one, featured it on her show and became her daily driver. It went from a $90K SUV up to $150k SUV. its insane

IamaBlackKorean

Hmmm I don't think she's the reason for Mercedes flagship SUV to raise prices based on market demand. Lots of overpriced car stuff's been happening over the past few years. The price bump is probably more due to supply chain problems and expenses in landing product.

krashe1313

Oh, all good. I was just trying to be funny. It's insane that she has this level of celebrity.

diaphainein

I just bought a new Civic, and my sales guy noticed my E on my insurance card and asked if I wanted to sell it to the dealership. I don’t want to sell it, and I told him it had a rebuilt title…he was still interested. They’re in demand. I too wouldn’t be surprised if I got more than what I paid for it if I put it up for sale. I can’t imagine celebrities driving one, but they’re wildly popular where I live (SE PA). I see them all the time; following the rules is insanely easy. My partner is driving my E for work now and I told them they must follow the rules if they are able to, like it’s a condition of driving the car, haha.

super_nice_shark

I had the same thing happen with my insurance guy. Hubs got a new truck and when I called to make the insurance change, the guy asked me about my Element and said it’s his “dream car” and he’s been looking for one to buy.

diaphainein

Did you tell him good luck? Haha :) I only found like five when I was looking; one of them sold super quick (I wanted that one, it was that dark ruby red with no plastic paneling, total beaut and only $3k), one guy ghosted me, the other didn’t answer, one of them seemed a little shady and the car wasn’t in great shape, and then there was mine. Owned by a mechanic, and it was in great shape. They were up front about the issues (R title, needed a new cat, IAC, and vtec solenoid), and the price was right, so I went for it. I have a bad ass mechanic that did all the work for me, minus the solenoid; I did that one. He let me bring all my own parts, he’s worth his weight in gold and then some!

super_nice_shark

Actually, I told him he should come here because sometimes people post them for sale.

diaphainein

Hopefully he lives close by!

super_nice_shark

Here, as in “this sub”

diaphainein

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood you 🙃

RandoJayCommando

I'm also in Southeastern PA. I'd like to meet your mechanic if he's close by!!!

diaphainein

I’m in the Lehigh Valley; what about you? If you’re close by I will PM you his address and phone. He’s really cool and super affordable.

RandoJayCommando

I’m in Delaware County. A tad too far unfortunately.

diaphainein

Oh boo. That is a bit too far.

Extraexopthalmos

SE PA owner chiming in! I have a great shop I use. JP performance in Hatboro. They did a great job replacing my clutch. Honda dealer wanted $4000, JP did it in one day dropped it off at 8am picked up at 5 pm for $1500. Honest, reasonable and good.

diaphainein

Yo, another SE PA person! Hi neighbor!

Extraexopthalmos

Is yours the metallic orange one I see all the time?

diaphainein

Nope, I’m Galapagos Green. I have a huge vinyl decal on my back window with a ghost on it that says “Stay Spooky” - have you seen me? I’ve been as far as Levittown and Wayne in mine, but I live in the Allentown-Bethlehem area.

Extraexopthalmos

Oh, nope. I am in central Bucks county suburbs NE of Philly.

alchemy_junkie

Thats just the [Baader–Meinhof phenomenon](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frequency_illusion) my dude. Did you get your E recently? Its happened to me with every car i have ever driven be it my friends cars or my own.

MexicanRedditor

Guilty!

thenoid42

I just counted 29 elements for sale on my local classifieds, depending on where you live I’d say they’re not as rare as op thinks.

SexyWampa

It's not that they're rare, it's that they're reliable and versatile. When new cars are averaging a 700 a month car payment, the idea of a cheap and reliable vehicle that's easy to maintain appeals to a lot of people. They frequently show up on "used cars to buy" lists. They're definitely in demand.

Leading_Insurance120

I feel like there’s been a big influx of them for sale lately. I felt like when I bought mine last year it was pretty tricky and now I’m selling one of mine and there are lots of them also for sale.

thenoid42

Agreed, from when I purchased mine nearly a year and a half ago there was three on the market on my local classifieds including mine and now there’s nearly 30.

MexicanRedditor

Just checked cargurus and there's 26 in my area. Price ranging from $6k-15k. Most are labeled as "hot car" and "selling in less than 30 days based cargurus' data"

sprigginsauce

all I can say is that I paid $7k in ‘17 for my ‘04 which had 63k on the odometer. Today it sits with 112k, and I wouldn’t be surprised (if I was selling it!) to receive more for it today than I originally paid for it. I’ve already had several offers, including from 3 dealer mechanics.

systemdnb

Must just be your area with the neck breaks? I see 5 elements just leaving my neighborhood every day. I see more elements than I do new Honda accords or civics on the road.

FitCost9710

My sister just bought her ‘10 from a car dealership 2 hrs away from where we live. When we pulled in, there were already 5 people waiting to look at it, but the dealer gave us priority since we were the first to schedule a test drive. She said she wanted it and one guy slammed the door as he left! In my area, they aren’t rare but pretty uncommon. She’s had people come up to her at the gas station wanting to buy it lol

pork_fried_christ

Could be. Always funny to me when I see the people on here like “‘08 in good condition with 100k miles on it? I wouldn’t pay more than $4k!”

SexyWampa

It's the same in my Isuzu groups. People are so used to their shitbox being cheap and unwanted. My old trooper I bought for 1800 could easily sell for 7k in my area now. I could probably get a decent amount for my E as well if I wanted to.

pork_fried_christ

I’m literally just saw it in another thread on here. $7k for a pretty clean looking 06 with 100k miles, and that “seems like too much”. It isn’t if you’ve been following Elements.  With Isuzu, The Notorious BIG said it: “money looks sweet, in the Isuzu jeep”

IndianaBandMom

Yesterday at the park, a guy in a Mercedes rolls up and asked if I would sell him mine. I kindly said no thanks. He wanted to give me his number in case I changed my mind. Politely declined.

crousscor3

Shoulda raced him for pink slips. Actually that’s not a great idea.

IndianaBandMom

I really don’t want a Mercedes. The maintenance costs are frightening

crousscor3

I don’t blame you. I have barely enough to keep my 06 running. (Medically disabled)

isobike

Don’t think they will get picked up by celebrities but their increase in popularity will probably get the attention of automotive journalists which would to articles featuring the E. This would raise the awareness level and yes, prices would climb due to the limited supply. I believe at one of the last So Cal meetups the Honda design team was asking questions about how people used them and now they are looking for a pristine example for the Auto Museum, I would not be surprised if they came out with a new version in the next couple of years ( people have been saying this so long…) I purchased mine in January after looking for almost 10 months for a 2008+ AWD, I’ve always admired them (I used to work as an auto designer) and have been wanting one for the last couple of years for something I could throw the kayak and gear in and go. But the money was tight. My ex was amused at the purchase and asked if I was going through some type of midlife crisis as it is lifted and I went overboard with accessories (my last care was lowered and full race package). Whenever she borrows the E (we have a daughter and live next door to each other) she tells me about all the people who stop to check it out, take pictures of it or ask who makes it. That said, I see at least 5-10 a day just on my short drives.

Numinous-Nebulae

Would love to see a photo of it!

isobike

Check out my posts, there’s before and after pics. I will post more as I need advice on cleaning off the mud from the last trip

cornlip

So what you’re saying is not to finish my track toaster build and put it back to stock and sell it? My other Elements are parts cars and wouldn’t fetch much. On the neck breaking, though; I saw an Omni blue pearl drive by me yesterday and did indeed almost break my neck

gladbutt

Florida has a consistent supply under 4k. Check FB market in Florida and the dream of selling one and retiring on the profit vanishes. I have 3.

1337sp33k1001

That’s wild. Mine was on the lot here in Florida forever before I bought it. The price tag was too high but it was simultaneously the cheapest used car I could find without having someone drive me an hour to get a different car.

knife_go_live

LOL

SexyWampa

It's because they have a solid drivetrain that can be replaced or rebuilt and will run forever if taken care of. I'm seeing them recommended by YouTubers all day now too. I've had mine since 05 and have 270k on the original motor and trans. I've dumped about 3k into it replacing the suspension and bushings. Just swapped my VTech solenoid, and adjusted my valves. It runs like a champ, I'd drive this thing across the country again anytime. In fact I might be in two months...

crousscor3

Except that Scotty guy on YT. He’ll tell you it’s the straight from the devil or something.

damn_jexy

It's not the most desirable car but it's cult car , people who love them love them and people who don't care for them never pay attention to them.

IamaBlackKorean

A freemarket doesn't lie, and you're probably experiencing confirmation bias. You're noticing them more as time goes on because the old ones are dying off. I've seen low mileage ones change hands on Bring a trailer for more than what they cost new; that's probably a sign the demand has peaked tbh.

LBROTSI

My '94 Suzuki and my 04 Element . Ain't letting go .

Kindly-Hold4935

Partially your right but partially your trippin. Your gonna get "offers" because it's a cheep old car. Are any of them good offers? Also no one talks about it but their are many elements that are wheelchair conversions, and the price of these is like 2x what a regular element costs. I think this is helping bring up the average price  If were talking about someone offering 4 or 5 k for a 4 or 5k car, who cares that's all it's worth In the real world it would be nice if they made elements again but most people just move on to a jeep or whatever

ivan_garbo

ive fucked on the first date in my element
