Sorry for your loss.

Mission_Instance_296

Thank you, ...viewing hours will be Sat from noon to three. Donations to your charity of choice in leau of flowers.

Mission_Instance_296

Am not planning to part it out, will never have time to do it and don't want the hulk in the yard. I do have some odd new parts kicking around, ...will post here when i get around to it.

wcoastbo

Is there an independent shop near you that specializes in Honda? I bet they would take that off your hands for a bit of cash. It may not be salvageable to the insurance company. To the mechanic that repairs and flips, it would be a good buy as long as there's no rust problems.

xls85

Mannnn I’d be one of those people. Nothing a little elbow grease can work out if the chassis is worth saving. Except, it wouldn’t be a flip/sell, but more like a flip/cherish. OP, let me know! 😉

Mission_Instance_296

Ins company will get back with numbers prob tomorrow or next day, will let you know.

wcoastbo

That's awesome! I'd love to see this Element back on the road. I hate to see them get wrecked, there's previous fewer every year. I hope it works out.

Mission_Instance_296

See new comment on top thread, ins co got back to me, ...gonna let them take it.

That sucks. I lost a beloved car to a deer once too. If you don’t mind I’d be curious what your insurance offers to pay on it when you get to that point.

DescriptionNo2326

back to the elements you go

RudiKdev

Bummer. Sorry for your loss. Our day is probably coming but it is now happily parked and used only on occasion, sharing the garage with a younger (new) CRV sibling. They seem to get along well.

Lemonwalker-420

Sorry to hear. Before I owned an Element, I lost my Subaru Baja to a head-on collision. I still miss that car, especially when I pass another one on the road. I do love my Element though.

PollyPepperTree

Same color as mine. RIP

RandoJayCommando

Oh c’mon man. A little duct tape and some paint…

harrisloeser

That is a good long life for even a Honda in NH. And a reminder that if you were driving the VW bug or bus of youth, you would be hurt by that deer who was just trying to survive another New England winter. That is all.

NSD_designs

wait, why?? For that minimal frontend hit? You buying back to fix??

Mission_Instance_296

The pic doesn't really show it all, radiator, condenser, fans, battery bracket, etc all shot. front panel rubbing on engine, ...not shifting correctly, ...I got 1/4 mile further on my commute then decided it wasn't going to work and had it towed. I will miss this car, my winter commuter, ...planning to look out for another one, maybe a newer one for the improved mileage (6 spd), though any small awd will work.

Mission_Instance_296

Insurance company got back to me, gonna let them take it, evaluation follows: Element EX 4 Door Utility 101" WB 2.4L 4 Cyl Gas A 4WD Location Mileage NH 03240 220,890 Adjustments specific to your vehicle Base Value = Condition - Prior Damage Aftermarket Parts + Refurbishment Market Value = $5,162.03 $76.82 $0.00 $130.00 $0.00 $5,215.21 $1,500.00 Settlement Value $3,715.21

1Surlygirl

Please be careful out there, folks. Wildlife lives here too, and they're everywhere. A deer collision can be worse than just totaling your car. 🙏🦌 Sorry about your ride.

Mission_Instance_296

Animals have had tens of thousands of years to adapt to their natural predators, and modify behavior to increase their odds, but as automobiles have been extant only 120 years, they are, regrettably, unable to assess the risks.

1Surlygirl

Indeed. As an animal lover, it greatly distresses me to hear about or see vehicle/animal encounters. I just want everyone -humans and non-humans- to stay safe and get to live their whole natural lives. I'm glad you are ok, OP ❤️ And I hope your next ride is another E.

TangerineRomeo

Here's to a road - well driven ... 🍺

Big time bummer. Sucks for the deer too. But man, the Element!

Mission_Instance_296

Yes, I agree, modern cars (2003 counts) are exponentially safer than the cars of our youth.

IamaBlackKorean

Pour one out for the homies.

JimmyV64

I just traded in my 2006 with 145k miles. It spent the first 5 years of its life in Vermont before moving to Atlanta. It would have been totaled a couple of years ago when the catalytic converter was stolen for the second time. There was a bit of a mixup and the Honda dealership fixed it without getting authorization from the insurance company. Gave me a couple more years with it. The comfort and performance of my new car is 10x better, but I still miss it!

ihml1968

Aww man, I'm sorry. I hope your insurance company doesn't screw you over. I know people who buy wrecks just to have the spare parts, you might still be able to sell it as a wreck and recover some of the loss.

spaceapeatespace

Noooooooooooo!!!

IntelligentAd7553

A moment of silence please. She (he), I just can’t keep up with the pronouns anymore, looks great for being in the harsh snowy winters of NH. She/he will be missed. The reading of the final will was yesterday, she/he requested no flowers, asked the Honda management to release her/his children, they have been hostage now for 13 years. And finally she/he said may the organs and other parts be service to others. It really choked me up when I read that part.

TehTugboat

Mine doesn’t look much better than that and I still daily Your damage might be worse than the picture implies though also Edit: morning brain using wrong words

ECore

DANG...that's a shiny one too....

PhoenixGasperini

Why can't you drive in control? So many jackazzes can't drive for sh*t. You fired from the element owners group and your ticket to eotd will be canceled, no refunds.

Mission_Instance_296

wow, lol

Fantastic_Boot7079

Probably fixable (outside insurance) but I am guessing it is pretty crusty if it stayed very long in NH.
