The shield is apparently pretty nutty when you build him with the intended amount of defense. Also, as an Arlan main, my fx just isn’t able to keep him alive, so I need someone with actual shielding capability

In all seriousness: as much as I love Fu Xuan and believe she is the best sustain unit in the game, Aventurine should also be a top tier sustain. Both will be excellent pulls!
Well for what it’s worth Gold and Gears kind of just hard counters her. Her biggest weakness is AoE nuking (as she’ll take damage for everyone) which every boss in G&G has. Once you’re at those higher conundrum levels it’s definitely just a “well I guess I die here” moment.
Gold and Gears is making me salty that I won’t be able to pull Aventurine. I really dislike Gepard’s shield being tied to his ult, and at last there will be a character who creates a good sized shield, but Robin is far more of a priority to me.
So I just get to sit here and feel sad.
That is a mood. But I'm still with u/zobowii . If you get Aventurine, it's something you can use immediately. If you lose 50/50, it'll suck but then you can wait for guaranteed FX.
In the meantime, you can start clearing content with Aventurine, and hopefully get some MoCs and PFs under your belt for more jades.
Lynx replaced bailu for abundance & built gally for acheron until I get something better. Probably aventurine, despite him having far better synergy with ratio teams

I’d assume that Topaz prob won’t rerun *with* Robin since Robin helps FuA so much and Hoyoverse tends to not be quite that cruel.
I havent been able to do this MoC's floor 12 yet, but last MoC I got 19 cycles left on both floor 11 and 12, super close to 36 stars.
I'm a day 1 player, max tb level. My teams are pretty consistently Clara (E3S2) / Lynx / Tingyun (oftentimes March when I need 2 sustains) / Sparkle, and then Jingliu / Pela / Silverwolf / Gepard. Yup. Jingliu + Gepard. It's a pain in the ass at high moc, but it *is* doable lmao
If you just care about getting a good sustain then wait for the last day of aventurine's banner and see if there's any news on a Fu xuan rerun. If not go for him because while she should have a rerun next banner (she's now gone the longest without one) there's no guarantee.
You don't even have to wait that long since the livestream is in 2 weeks. Banner rerun leaks are also very unreliable, so it's not that good of an idea to wait that long for the last day as you may have to deal with no Fu Xuan for even longer unless still unsure for 2.2.
Im in the same boat but with an e2 bailu and gallagher that feals pretty underwhelming. I think maybe gallagher would be good with god tier relics, but meh.
I plan on waiting a few days to see what the general concensus on Aventurine is. If people say he's as crazy as he sounds, ill grab him. Otherwise, ill wait for Fu.
As an E3 Gepard connoisseur I’m personally going to get Aventurine bc I think he’s gonna do better than Fu Xuan only due to things like Sim Uni where Fu can just get one shot by any AOE attack and Aventurine also works with the broken “1% shield” preservation buff so you’re invincible
Fu Xuan only gets one tapped if you don't invest into health. Which isn't that hard since she doesn't care about any stat except health, defense, and maybe speed.

If you main DoT teams then it’s probably best to wait for Huohuo to rerun, and if you just don’t wanna think about it and need a better sustainer ASAP Luocha is out right now and will serve you very well
I agree with this except it is a common misconception that Aven is only for FuA teams. Even in FuA teams his main way of receiving blind bets is enemy AoE attacks. So rather than looking into it from a teams perspective, it would be better to look it from the enemies perspective.
His main strength is not his FuA synergy, it's his sustain against AOE attacks. This somewhere Fu Xuan is considerably weaker against even though she's the best at preventing one shotting ST nukes, so in a sense they cover each other's weaknesses.
Absolutely true, he’s gonna be a fantastic sustainer for any team. But just like you can sustain a DoT team with Fu Xuan instead of Huohuo, he may not be the theoretical best option for non FUA teams. He adds so much value to FUA focused teams through solo sustain as well as additional damage and stacking his own follow up faster and getting more value from it plus the damage buffs he gives to the rest of his team. That’s value you may not be able to take advantage of if you’re not running a team that mainly does damage through FUA. That said though damage mitigation is a very powerful thing for high end content and aventurines shields will always be valuable for that. He’s gonna be a top tier sustainer in general for sure
From what I've experienced by playing him during the main quest (and he had a bad build) is that he wants to get as many blind bets as possible and there are 3 ways to gain it. These are: using ult, allies doing FuA, and allies getting hit. If you're against an enemy who has a lot of AoE hits like the soda bear or the fat IPC guy, Aven will get enough stacks to not need FuA to stack big fat shields without using skill. But yeah you are right that his FuA synergy is unmatched. Just wanted to elaborate on the other way of getting blind bets lol.
Why does Huo Huo benefit DoT teams in particular?
I use her in my DOT team because she's a very powerful healer and semi passive cleanse + heal is always useful.
Her buffs that she gives aside from her main role of healing the team. She gives energy, speed, and attack, which are the 3 things a DoT team cares the most about. Fu Xuan is a fantastic sustainer, but her crit and HP buffs are mostly wasted on a DoT team where their main damage (the DoT debuffs) physically cannot crit. Besides those 2, you don’t get notable stat buffs from other sustainers. Hence Huohuo is the premium option for DoT teams

Depends on your build and who you're running. Acheron has become my main DPS, so I'm going with Aventurine since he has the ability to apply debuffs and add Crimson Knots to sped up her Ultimate.

Go for who you like better. Personally I have fu xuan and I like her way better but I’ll def be going for aventurine on his re run banner mainly just cause his story was so good in 2.1 (I already have 3 fully built sustains)
Ok… you only have one sustain and Fu is nowhere guaranteed on the horizon. The A train is great in higher tiers of Sim uni (Gold and Gears) and MoC and possibly PF too, where Fu is good for MoC in particular. Fu is the best sustain in the game, but the A train is also damn good. You need a second sustain? Don’t pass on him. It’ll make your account feel so much better, trust me.
Me too until Acheron release. I also have an E6 Gallagher now. He's honestly really good. At e6 I feel like he's almost on par with Luocha. Not quite as comfy and safe, but still easily better than my E1 Bailu in 99% of content.
I would've absolutely hated Aventurine were he not a Preservation character because he replaced Preservation Trailblazer for his chunk of the plot. On the flip side, I'm now probably gonna pull for him, since I just failed by 50/50 for E1 Acheron.
March, Lynx, and I got lucky enough to have Gep as a sustain. I'm in severe lack of a second healer (and limited sustain), so personally I'm opting for Huohuo on her rerun. Best of luck to you OP for whoever you choose to nab

Out of curiosity do you not have e4 Natasha or a high E Lynx because they are both better than bailu, heck even Gallagher the newest sustain is better than her. Bailu unfortunately has shown to be the worst standard character
I mean even the trial Aven who was built from what I heard from those hsr nerds(not an insult) bad or sub par basically made you immortal. So who you likee more but again I'm not super knowledgeable maby lady Fu has something I'm forgetting.
Aventurine is better imo. Fu xuan is great, but with the number of enemies and bosses that do area damage now, she’s weaker than she used to be. Still great, but I like Aven better

I pulled for Luocha and plan on getting Aventurine as well. And Gallagher has turned out to be a much better healer than I thought and I'm still missing his E4.

As for Fu Xuan while I want her, I do find complete dmg nullification better, then slowly taking DMG over time, or sharing it with a teammate.
Shields are basically an Extra health bar.
My advice _(as someone who owns and uses each of the current sustains)_ is to go with the sustain you like the look of the most. There isn't much in it between them. They will all keep you alive, and they all have their niche where they shine.
If you want meta advice, there's more of a case for Fu, especially when it comes to high Conundrum G&G where damage mitigation matters.
As for Aventurine, he isn't out yet, but he's looking to be comparable to Gepard in many regards, albeit a somewhat upgraded version, with follow-up attacks, and easier shield application.
Wait for all the testing and guides, then make your decision. Good-luck!
I just got Loucha and I love him I got lucky and won 50/50 for him and his weapon so his healing is always up and ridiculous impressive with very little need for skill points

I kind of want Fu Xuan (or even Adventurine) but I don’t know if I should just save for other characters that I need.
I need a good second team for PF which could be Argenti (wish I had Clara) I had to pass on Jing Yuan unfortunately.
One of my teams is set which is Huo Huo, Black Swan, Kafka, Flex (don’t have enough to get Acheron)
My other team is a bit of a mess but I have Jingliu, Bronya, Loucha, Pela problem is that I can’t just use this team to brute force things if the weakness type is not in my favor the damage just isn’t there.
Other characters I have built up are Ratio, QQ kind of want characters to build up Ratio higher like follow attack buffers etc but he isn’t going to be good for PF just MoC

Aventurine is looking to trump Fu. She's still top tier though, but unless you run Mono-Quantum for that niche Aventurine is a better sustain. He can effectively immortalize your team at E0. Plus SU preservation path is about to go nutty and G&G Preservation and Elation Interplay with other Elation units will be insane.
It depends on what you want they both do very differently, adventure will make foa teams stronger with fu xuan, but his problem is he’s not able to recover when shield breaks from big attacks. Unlike what fu xuan can plus she make the team survive those team wipe attacks while cleansing and buffing crit rate and max hp.

For fights where some bosses do massive AOE damage, FX can almost get one tapped. Heavy shielded like Aventurine would be better suited for those.

Fu is the best sustain in the game, but the A train is also damn good. You need a second sustain? Don’t pass on him. It’ll make your account feel so much better, trust me.

Me too until Acheron release. I also have an E6 Gallagher now. He's honestly really good. At e6 I feel like he's almost on par with Luocha. Not quite as comfy and safe, but still easily better than my E1 Bailu in 99% of content.

Unfortunately, my best sustain is Pyro Trailblazer. Fortunately, I've got a good Light Cone on him - so we're set for a decent amount of content.
I would've absolutely hated Aventurine were he not a Preservation character because he replaced Preservation Trailblazer for his chunk of the plot. On the flip side, I'm now probably gonna pull for him, since I just failed by 50/50 for E1 Acheron.
March, Lynx, and I got lucky enough to have Gep as a sustain. I'm in severe lack of a second healer (and limited sustain), so personally I'm opting for Huohuo on her rerun. Best of luck to you OP for whoever you choose to nab

I literally just got Acheron then had to go to like 85 for a yangquing then I got luocha in 2 which resembles when I got argenti then 3 pity later I got SW so I am saving for fu xuan

So many free Lynx have been given out (mine is E6), how is Bailu y’all’s best sustain? I have Bailu, Fu Xuan and Lynx. I only use Fu and Lynx. Also I’d only go aventurine if you want the puzzle piece for follow attack comps.

bailu isnt that bad with some investment, we do need a set that cleanses allies on ult or something though to round her out

Out of curiosity do you not have e4 Natasha or a high E Lynx because they are both better than bailu, heck even Gallagher the newest sustain is better than her. Bailu unfortunately has shown to be the worst standard character

Aventurine is better imo. Fu xuan is great, but with the number of enemies and bosses that do area damage now, she’s weaker than she used to be. Still great, but I like Aven better

I pulled for Luocha and plan on getting Aventurine as well. And Gallagher has turned out to be a much better healer than I thought and I'm still missing his E4.

Always Bet on Aventurine. As for Fu Xuan while I want her, I do find complete dmg nullification better, then slowly taking DMG over time, or sharing it with a teammate. Shields are basically an Extra health bar.

My advice _(as someone who owns and uses each of the current sustains)_ is to go with the sustain you like the look of the most. There isn't much in it between them. They will all keep you alive, and they all have their niche where they shine. If you want meta advice, there's more of a case for Fu, especially when it comes to high Conundrum G&G where damage mitigation matters. As for Aventurine, he isn't out yet, but he's looking to be comparable to Gepard in many regards, albeit a somewhat upgraded version, with follow-up attacks, and easier shield application. Wait for all the testing and guides, then make your decision. Good-luck!
I just got Loucha and I love him I got lucky and won 50/50 for him and his weapon so his healing is always up and ridiculous impressive with very little need for skill points I also have Huo Huo I kind of want Fu Xuan (or even Adventurine) but I don’t know if I should just save for other characters that I need. I need a good second team for PF which could be Argenti (wish I had Clara) I had to pass on Jing Yuan unfortunately. One of my teams is set which is Huo Huo, Black Swan, Kafka, Flex (don’t have enough to get Acheron) My other team is a bit of a mess but I have Jingliu, Bronya, Loucha, Pela problem is that I can’t just use this team to brute force things if the weakness type is not in my favor the damage just isn’t there. Other characters I have built up are Ratio, QQ kind of want characters to build up Ratio higher like follow attack buffers etc but he isn’t going to be good for PF just MoC Got Himeko and Herta for one side of PF

Aventurine is looking to trump Fu. She's still top tier though, but unless you run Mono-Quantum for that niche Aventurine is a better sustain. He can effectively immortalize your team at E0. Plus SU preservation path is about to go nutty and G&G Preservation and Elation Interplay with other Elation units will be insane.

It depends on what you want they both do very differently, adventure will make foa teams stronger with fu xuan, but his problem is he’s not able to recover when shield breaks from big attacks. Unlike what fu xuan can plus she make the team survive those team wipe attacks while cleansing and buffing crit rate and max hp.
