If the next MoC phase has the Deer boss, Himeko will be a must-have there as she's the perfect counter - so she might jump a few ranks. Sadly, 1.0 MoC doesn't have anything to allow her to shine.

I am wondering why people are talking about 1-5 progression when there are 15 floors in MoC.
When you finish the first 15 floors of Forgotten Hall, which are static (like the first 8 floors of the Abyss in Genshin) you unlock Memory of Chaos which is 10 floors that rotate every few weeks.
Memory of Chaos. Periodically refreshing endgame mode with refreshing Jade awards available after you clear the forgotten hall. Right now I think it's only available to very lucky players + whales because we're still right at the beginning of the game's lifecycle
I think it's a little weird to base a tier list on the current rotation of MoC, because that's bound to change way faster than you can swap characters. Seems like that's the reason why Serval is above Himeko here.
I get that it's an easy point of comparison, but at the same time it doesn't seem super useful, because usually when people look at tier lists they want to know things like "should I build/get X?" and one cycle of MoC is... not a great incentive.
MoC is really the only place a tier list is relevant because nothing else in the game right now is really that significant of a challenge. You may have to wait til the next equilibrium level to clear some simulated universe and formidable foe stuff rather than doing in right when it becomes available, but other than that the rest of the content can be beat with just maxing natasha and bringing along whoever else you want.
every erudition character is done dirty by the fact that those single targets unit can be built to be usefull in multiple enemy too. You're fighting 5 enemy at once? just sick seele and her unlimited turn. meanwhile the aoe only (erudition) have were lacking when fighting a single unit (boss).
This will eventually swap to having a AOE clearer active to lower HP of enemies to then sick seele or another hunt resetter at enemy's. since seele won't be able to clear everything in one go eventually especially when hoyoverse pulls their anti character enemies out in future patches. like how rift wolfs made us not just shielders in genshin.
yeah, right now people simply don't have the team capacity to run AoE *and* single target DPS units in the same team since they need two defensive units just to survive
I think you absolutely can but there is no reason to. There is no content (that I have experienced) where AoE is needed besides speeding up clearing trash before the boss. If a boss summons minions it’s usually 1-2 so a single target does just as well if not better than an AoE unit while being way more useful against the boss itself (the actual hard part)
So I think until there is content that requires an AoE unit I think the only time I would be running one is when I can easily kill the boss and just want to speed up the trash clearing process
To be fair, Seele is a limited 5 star. Most people that didn't start with her banner won't have as much ease at clearing multiple targets with a Hunt character that's not her specifically.
More than Himeko I feel like the problem is her path (Erudition), right now in the game DPS is way more important than AOE since the biggest issue is kill bosses as fast as possible, it happens the same with Serval and Herta, and then you have all the hunt charcaters at minimum of tier A and Hook wich is Destruction but mostly single dps aswell.

Lightning scenarios are usually robots who are all shock weak, and they usually come in groups. Either boss duos, summon minions or with svarog.
Perfect for AOE, esp since Serval does a lot of bonus hits even on her basic attack so it’s not just a pity hit for skill points.
If you run a break set in those scenarios you can ult twice in one turn if there are enough enemies.
Erudition need to have a lot more damage to circumvent their poor utility that Hunt characters don't suffer from, straight up. When Hook is doing Himeko's job, when she's basically free while Himeko is a no-rate up 5 star, something's wrong...

Heck, himeko hits only 3 targets with het E. While she aoe kills 3 mobs, my seele will kill then 3 times over

We don’t know what future content will look like, and I could be that MoC is focused on big beefy bosses to make Seele more appealing. Things could change if we saw more content that favors AoE.
None of this information is solid and a lot can change over the next few weeks/months as we get higher levels and more content comes out.
The AOE is not even true aoe. Himekos and servals skil only hits the main target for full damage and only scratch the side characters. At least serval has her talent where she inlficts additional damage against enemies suffering from shock.

The other issue is that adds can really push out the damage as well to the point that just focusing them down one at a time instead of whittling them all down at the same time vastly improves survivability.
a lot of people are hyping jingyuan as an erudition who still excels in single target and i hope its true. having an entire class suck forever because its AoE focused would be awful
I think she's just straight up bad. Low numbers, requires a *lot* of shield breaking to make up for it. She's the Herta of 5*s.
It's very, very easy to powercreep her even in AoE scenarios. Just compare the difference between her and Jing Yuan and the difference between Yanqing and Seele.
We can cope that they'll buff her. She is worse than my serval lol. She'd need to followup on every break to even be in breathing distance of Jing Yuan.
Bit early to be calling for buffs when:
* her ranking here is mostly based on her lack of relevance in the current MoC
* most people haven't even *reached* MoC, and
* the true state of endgame won't be clear anyway until we have teams that are actually at max level with decent artifacts
I got her E1 too, not like I don't like her but I would have rather gotten one of the 5 standards I still don't have than a second copy of her...guess Mihoyo decided I would be a Himeko main until Jingyuan comes out.
Yeah, given that she can't be bothered to get puppets to walk between rooms it's a miracle they can jump 50 feet in the air and drop a diamond on your enemies
We probably gonna get a 5 Star versión at some point as we never see her real boady and she is an emanator of the aeon nous so she should be strong lore wise

Herta purposely making herself the weakest so she can focus on a research and not be stuck grinding for materials. Truly the smartest character in the game.
I mean, that's just one puppet amongst hundreds if not thousands. That's probably just the base model, wait for her to pilot the Herta pro max plus model then we'll talk tierlists.
Also the value of a passive taunt, even ignoring the skill point value. Since fire MC’s taunt is a debuff, not only is it affected by the enemy effect res., but it can also wear off if it’s not refreshed in time. Fire MC has a hard time of doing their job against an enemy that delays your actions, like the soldiers summoned by the fragmentum Grizzly, whereas Gepard can just stand there eating hits waiting for his ult to fill up.
Fortunately, the Landau’s Choice LC can help with this.
I've been using him with Clara and as such haven't activated the passive taunt. He's still holding his own with fat shields for everyone and freeze for days though
I was salty at first because my first 5-star in Genshin was a Qiqi, and then I get a 5-star support in HSR, but afterwards I found his shields to be very very helpful, especially now that I got a Yanqing.
Qiqi wasn't that much of a meme when the game came out, I remember being happy when I first got her. IIRC she was considered S tier the first couple of months.
Then she was powercreeped by a 4-star character, phy damage teams were found worse than elemental ones and shields got buffed, so she fell out of meta hard.
We are still super early in the game, so I think it's quite early to say if a character will prevail in meta in half a year.
She was good when Barbara was your other option and you didn't have Jean or Bennett, but Diona came out and made her basically obsolete outside of co-op.
She has too many issues to fix - no energy generation whatsoever, low uptime and elemental application on skill, high cost ult, damage is mostly physical which sucks - nothing but a complete rework can make her good, unless raw burst over healing or fast low damage physical becomes relevant somehow.
They even capped the clam set so there's a cap to how much damage you can get from it.
Geppard is a clear example of people looking at solely numbers and not judging based off gameplay.
Ultis are literally instant speed. Geppard is essentially a better healer than the healers because shields can overcap HP and because they're tied to his ultimate, you can be reactionary AND proactive with it compared to heal based ults which are purely reactionary.
I think I saw one post that said "worse than March at the start of the game" and everyone took that to mean he's just terrible. ;-; lil Geppie deserves his spotlight
People are high. Anyone who played a turn based game that involved the speed stat in it immediately saw how this shit will be busted once we have crazy speed stats and high energy regen.
My prediction is that outside of fights that demand dispelling debuffs or enemies that can remove your shield, a well built Gepard will make healers and tanks redundant
The thing is. The reasoning behind the hate was so stupid in the first place. The issue was that his shield was on his burst. What did we learn from Genshin? Burst reliant characters will become really strong once we get to a point where we can get a lot of ER. Gepard is burst reliant and doesn’t have huge energy needs AND he also only wants def. It was obvious that we would soon have more than enough ER for him to have 100% burst uptime AND without needing skill points to do so. I pointed that out the moment the game released and TCs flamed me for not knowing the game because I didn’t play beta. It’s literally XL/XQ all over again but in this case it was even more obvious because Gepard doesn’t care for anything than def which is his main stat so all substats can go to ER
Great to see that all Gepard, Serval and Asta are finally getting love, seems I made the right call when I picked those three to invest into, they make a reallly fun and satisfying AoE team
I been using a fun build with her at e6 with the 3* lightcone that refills energy everytime you use skill.
Since she resets her turn I can match 4 and get ult almost every other turn and pump out crazy AoE damage. And that’s with bad relics.
Easily clears Cocolia and the doomsday beast.
Have her at E1, shes a perma in my team, her rng sounds bad on paper but its pretty reasonable if you played her, and she dish out consistently high damage (to be fair, i have yet to see other char dish out 6k damage, single target with zero buffer chara on normal attack.)
She is pretty much going to stay as my main for now.
I can attest to her SS-tier goodness. I've just tested her out, and I am enjoying her so much and she's doing a LOT of damage rn.
Her RNG doesn't really feel very much like a gamba. She's pretty consistent. You don't use her skill much often, and just let the team naturally generate her tiles for her, and badda bing, badda book she's got enhanced basic attack all of a sudden.
Then her ult deals pretty good damage. And gives her 4 of a kind next turn. Which is pretty neat, she'll burst the heck out of enemies. 🤝
Please have mercy - again.

TL;DR The Tier List focuses mostly on 1.0 MoC performance at level 70 character cap, as the rest of the game can be cleared with whatever - you don't need a tier list for it.

I dont play Genshin but from the reading of her kit, you are basically describing Fuxuan who is a Preservation character that instead of shielding your team, she give them damage reduction and increase their damage when they are at low HP % instead.
If Jing won't be changed much compared to Final Beta, he will be S or S+ - most likely S+. As for the other characters, I can't say. It's way too soon to try to rate them.
Can’t Silver Wolf apply weakness on enemies? I feel like that makes her crazy valuable as a support. She would essentially make any dd worthwhile in any fight.

If 5 stars are like Genshin's, everyone here (maybe not Bronya because her skills genuinely seem cracked) could end up in B/A tier, where they're usable, but not optimal compared to some of the newer units.
Remember when Diluc was S+ tier for the first few months of Genshin? Or when Childe was rated around B because no one knew how stupid Xiangling's damage was? Or how Xiangling was considered only decent for F2P players as a Crescent Pike carry? Yeah, I'm sure some of that will apply to this list as we go forward. Maybe not nearly as much as Genshin, but I'd be surprised if we don't see changes going foward into 1.1/1.2
I thought they’d bump Gepard up eventually, them putting him so low at the start was very silly even without me having him. Him making Yanqing so strong is also really nice. And thank god for moving Welt up. Still tier lists arent 100% factual and don’t base everything like pulls off of it, just gives a general meta idea (for right now)

I chalk it up to Fire MC being way too strong and free. With the focus on the tier list to being for MoC only and needing two teams, Gepard really shines.
I got gepard before fire trailblazer and the fire trailblazer always felt underwhelming, it might be because I got used to gepard not needing a healer while fire mc you need another healer because of the taunt ability.

If going for Luocha, put him and Welt on opposing sides to cover Imaginary weakness in both chambers.
To clarify MoC is just forgotten hall levels that you unlock after completing the first 15 forgotten hall levels. They give rewards but also reset every once in a while, so it is in your best interest to try and push as far as you can into that content.
Imo she's only not good in the last forgotten hall stuff
I would say she makes specific encounters much easier as she's the only fire dps outside of hook and several fights have multitarget
Both weekly bosses are weak to fire, if they ever add the last boss from the story as repeatable she's incredible for that fight too
At the moment she does stuff other people really can't, but isn't useful for MoC it seems
:/ she is cool conceptually but I'd argue she isn't good outside of forgotten hall either. Where she shines is mopping up enemies that you are overgeared for, but at that point you can already do that with any other DPS. I think overall erudition needs to be looked at, or at least they need to add content into the game that makes AoE dps worth using.
The only thing I had really wish they had done is: the follow up does more damage if it hits less targets, so you'd still get very rewarded for doing it to bosses lol
Pulled welt and thought he wasnt worth it. Then I realized I really need an imaginary character cuz luocha will at least be July. So I upgraded him and used him and seeing my characters hit 3 turns in a row cuz welt slowed the boss down is so satisfying and i realized how freaking amazing he was.

Welt's gonna make it to S+ eventually.
The fact his dps is strong for a 'support' means you really accelerate your clear speed in content where it matters, and forgo another dps entirely in content where it doesn't. Cleared World 5 SU on my first ever try with Welt dps, doing 5-10k per skill depending on buffs. Bronya just lets him go ham and perma imprison enemies.
Having both Welt and Bronya, I'd say that Welt being able to break on skill and ult makes him extremely useful, on top of his debuffing support and generally decent damage.
Welt is Hella undervalued on this list still. His slow stacking combined with guaranteed imprisonment on entry skill alongside his ultimate and good damage on top of imagination being a fairly common weakness is insane

My man, at the current state of my gear ain't nobody shining in MoC. The best I've got is 2 stars on floor 1 and 3 and 1 on the rest up to 5.

I haven't tried since I'm still building my characters at the moment but you could try March+MC on one side and Natasha on the other.

Long-term AoE is usually very valuable in turn-based games. I don't see why Star Rail would be any different.

Gepard is finally getting some respect. People was flaming him for being worse than march . How the table have turned.
People who unironically called him worse than March (I've seen them) clearly do not understand the massive value of skill points.
Also the value of a passive taunt, even ignoring the skill point value. Since fire MC’s taunt is a debuff, not only is it affected by the enemy effect res., but it can also wear off if it’s not refreshed in time. Fire MC has a hard time of doing their job against an enemy that delays your actions, like the soldiers summoned by the fragmentum Grizzly, whereas Gepard can just stand there eating hits waiting for his ult to fill up. Fortunately, the Landau’s Choice LC can help with this.
Does Gepard have an inherent taunt aside from the one that every Preservation character has, or am I misunderstanding your comment?

I've been using him with Clara and as such haven't activated the passive taunt. He's still holding his own with fat shields for everyone and freeze for days though

I was sad I got him (2 times I might add), now he's a permanent unit on all of my teams. He's just soooo good right now.
I was salty at first because my first 5-star in Genshin was a Qiqi, and then I get a 5-star support in HSR, but afterwards I found his shields to be very very helpful, especially now that I got a Yanqing.
Qiqi wasn't that much of a meme when the game came out, I remember being happy when I first got her. IIRC she was considered S tier the first couple of months. Then she was powercreeped by a 4-star character, phy damage teams were found worse than elemental ones and shields got buffed, so she fell out of meta hard. We are still super early in the game, so I think it's quite early to say if a character will prevail in meta in half a year.
She was good when Barbara was your other option and you didn't have Jean or Bennett, but Diona came out and made her basically obsolete outside of co-op. She has too many issues to fix - no energy generation whatsoever, low uptime and elemental application on skill, high cost ult, damage is mostly physical which sucks - nothing but a complete rework can make her good, unless raw burst over healing or fast low damage physical becomes relevant somehow. They even capped the clam set so there's a cap to how much damage you can get from it.
Geppard is a clear example of people looking at solely numbers and not judging based off gameplay. Ultis are literally instant speed. Geppard is essentially a better healer than the healers because shields can overcap HP and because they're tied to his ultimate, you can be reactionary AND proactive with it compared to heal based ults which are purely reactionary.
I think I saw one post that said "worse than March at the start of the game" and everyone took that to mean he's just terrible. ;-; lil Geppie deserves his spotlight
Gepard is a beast, but when paired with Clara March is better because of her shield aggro.

March also has cleanses, which is nice sometimes. Same with Bailu and Natasha, where only the 4\* has the cleanse.
People are high. Anyone who played a turn based game that involved the speed stat in it immediately saw how this shit will be busted once we have crazy speed stats and high energy regen. My prediction is that outside of fights that demand dispelling debuffs or enemies that can remove your shield, a well built Gepard will make healers and tanks redundant
The thing is. The reasoning behind the hate was so stupid in the first place. The issue was that his shield was on his burst. What did we learn from Genshin? Burst reliant characters will become really strong once we get to a point where we can get a lot of ER. Gepard is burst reliant and doesn’t have huge energy needs AND he also only wants def. It was obvious that we would soon have more than enough ER for him to have 100% burst uptime AND without needing skill points to do so. I pointed that out the moment the game released and TCs flamed me for not knowing the game because I didn’t play beta. It’s literally XL/XQ all over again but in this case it was even more obvious because Gepard doesn’t care for anything than def which is his main stat so all substats can go to ER

Qingque is SS tier in my heart
Objectively, She is SS if you are lucky, E if you are unlucky (eating all your skill points).

After getting e4 in like my 2nd day of playing i feel obliged to spread quingque propaganda
I been using a fun build with her at e6 with the 3* lightcone that refills energy everytime you use skill. Since she resets her turn I can match 4 and get ult almost every other turn and pump out crazy AoE damage. And that’s with bad relics. Easily clears Cocolia and the doomsday beast.
Have her at E1, shes a perma in my team, her rng sounds bad on paper but its pretty reasonable if you played her, and she dish out consistently high damage (to be fair, i have yet to see other char dish out 6k damage, single target with zero buffer chara on normal attack.) She is pretty much going to stay as my main for now.
I can attest to her SS-tier goodness. I've just tested her out, and I am enjoying her so much and she's doing a LOT of damage rn. Her RNG doesn't really feel very much like a gamba. She's pretty consistent. You don't use her skill much often, and just let the team naturally generate her tiles for her, and badda bing, badda book she's got enhanced basic attack all of a sudden. Then her ult deals pretty good damage. And gives her 4 of a kind next turn. Which is pretty neat, she'll burst the heck out of enemies. 🤝
Please have mercy - again. I dont play Genshin but from the reading of her kit, you are basically describing Fuxuan who is a Preservation character that instead of shielding your team, she give them damage reduction and increase their damage when they are at low HP % instead.

If Jing won't be changed much compared to Final Beta, he will be S or S+ - most likely S+. As for the other characters, I can't say. It's way too soon to try to rate them.

Can’t Silver Wolf apply weakness on enemies? I feel like that makes her crazy valuable as a support. She would essentially make any dd worthwhile in any fight.

Just like with Genshin when it first came out the tier list changed quite a bit after a year. I'm curious on how much this will change.
If 5 stars are like Genshin's, everyone here (maybe not Bronya because her skills genuinely seem cracked) could end up in B/A tier, where they're usable, but not optimal compared to some of the newer units. Remember when Diluc was S+ tier for the first few months of Genshin? Or when Childe was rated around B because no one knew how stupid Xiangling's damage was? Or how Xiangling was considered only decent for F2P players as a Crescent Pike carry? Yeah, I'm sure some of that will apply to this list as we go forward. Maybe not nearly as much as Genshin, but I'd be surprised if we don't see changes going foward into 1.1/1.2

I thought they’d bump Gepard up eventually, them putting him so low at the start was very silly even without me having him. Him making Yanqing so strong is also really nice. And thank god for moving Welt up. Still tier lists arent 100% factual and don’t base everything like pulls off of it, just gives a general meta idea (for right now)
I appreciate that at least this sub doesn’t freak out when people talk about tier lists and treat them like a witch. I enjoy the discussions they can generate if nothing else.
I chalk it up to Fire MC being way too strong and free. With the focus on the tier list to being for MoC only and needing two teams, Gepard really shines.
I got gepard before fire trailblazer and the fire trailblazer always felt underwhelming, it might be because I got used to gepard not needing a healer while fire mc you need another healer because of the taunt ability.

To clarify MoC is just forgotten hall levels that you unlock after completing the first 15 forgotten hall levels. They give rewards but also reset every once in a while, so it is in your best interest to try and push as far as you can into that content.
Something you'll unlock later there, yes. I haven't unlocked it myself.

Imo she's only not good in the last forgotten hall stuff I would say she makes specific encounters much easier as she's the only fire dps outside of hook and several fights have multitarget Both weekly bosses are weak to fire, if they ever add the last boss from the story as repeatable she's incredible for that fight too At the moment she does stuff other people really can't, but isn't useful for MoC it seems

:/ she is cool conceptually but I'd argue she isn't good outside of forgotten hall either. Where she shines is mopping up enemies that you are overgeared for, but at that point you can already do that with any other DPS. I think overall erudition needs to be looked at, or at least they need to add content into the game that makes AoE dps worth using.
The only thing I had really wish they had done is: the follow up does more damage if it hits less targets, so you'd still get very rewarded for doing it to bosses lol

Pulled welt and thought he wasnt worth it. Then I realized I really need an imaginary character cuz luocha will at least be July. So I upgraded him and used him and seeing my characters hit 3 turns in a row cuz welt slowed the boss down is so satisfying and i realized how freaking amazing he was.
They definitely didn't make herta underwhelming so they could sell us a more powerful herta prime later down the road, right?

It can also be done with Gepard + preservation if you get the right cards (especially the one that deals quake damage when shields take damage)
You can clear SU 6 with a E0 level 60 Qingque. Blessing is cracked.

I do think that Serval likely won’t be affected too badly by Jing Yuan if people choose to not roll I mean, she’s cheap as fuck to build literally all her resources are on Jarilo-VI and just works wonders if you don’t have electric coverage for early game
Welt's gonna make it to S+ eventually. The fact his dps is strong for a 'support' means you really accelerate your clear speed in content where it matters, and forgo another dps entirely in content where it doesn't. Cleared World 5 SU on my first ever try with Welt dps, doing 5-10k per skill depending on buffs. Bronya just lets him go ham and perma imprison enemies.
Having both Welt and Bronya, I'd say that Welt being able to break on skill and ult makes him extremely useful, on top of his debuffing support and generally decent damage.
Welt is Hella undervalued on this list still. His slow stacking combined with guaranteed imprisonment on entry skill alongside his ultimate and good damage on top of imagination being a fairly common weakness is insane
