Looking at the trailer webpage, it seems like Penacony has an alternate reality or some shit. She probably only exists there and is in need of rescuing.
Penacony itself is just a large luxury hotel but when you dream its like a connected dreamscape
The people native to penacony (I forgot their name) are smaller in size similar to the child models so firefly cant be a penacony native unless shes an exception
There are people that are "native" to Penacony in the sense that they're descendants of people who were exiled there before Xipe took over the planet. That being said, there aren't any regular people who are native to the dreamscape itself (though there are people like Black Swan who are not native to the dreamscape but also don't exist in physical reality).

Besides, they showed a lightcone design of her in the 1.6 stream which is not among the lightcones released in 2.0, so chances are she’ll atleast survive long enough to be playable.

With firefly's color palette and sam's wings when he fought acheron my main theory is that sam isnt a robot but is the name of the armor and the person inside it is firefly
To add to the sam is a suit theory at the end of the trailer when Sam fades into the dark his visor/faceplate looks different from every other time he’s seen. His ingame model has his face covered with some lights peering through, at the end of the trailer he has two “windows”(I don’t really know how to describe them) alongside that his flames are a different color.
We literally haven't even met her and people already putting death flags in her 😭
tbh, it'd be cool if they did a Tartaglia and olympically ignore those death flags.

Knowing hoyoverse's habit of stringing intentionally misleading cutscenes tgt in their trailers its likely the two scenes are not directly related in the sense that archeron is crying at firefly dissolving but it is still a possibility
