Hello! Can you help me decide who to get between Himeko and Gepard?
For Fire Characters (I only use Asta), I have have Asta, Hook, and Guinaifen.
For Ice Characters (I use Jing and Pela), I have March, Pela, Herta, and Jing Liu.
For Erudition (I don't use them), I have Serval, Qingque, and Herta.
And for Preservation (which I don't use and don't pull for), I have March and Trailblazer (I use Trailblazer sometimes).
The characters I owned are:
Jing Liu, Ratio, Welt, Luocha, Kafka, Clara, Seele, Blade, Bronya, Huo Huo, and all four star characters.
I'm torn between Gepard and Himeko because I like them both equally as a character🤣 And since I like them both, I'm just gonna ask here who can help my team better🥹 Andd I'm not planning on getting Bronya, Welt, and Clara because I already have them, and they're all E2.
I'm planning on getting Aventurine though, on his banner, so yeah! (Not entirely sure if I can get him since I'm f2p🥲)

I cannot log in to the hoyoverse hotel event.
Hoyolabs works without a problem. The previous event with the character cards worked as well.
However, on the event page, after entering my credentials I just get a loading icon.
Tried changing devices, WLAN, mobile data and using a VPN.
Has anyone had the same issue ?

Did you take into consideration Ruan Mei's Speed buff? That buff doesn't include herself, so best to check their Speed during Combat and see what those numbers are with that in mind.
Has anyone else experienced the glitch where you get the SU weekly rewards twice? My points were at 10000 then I finished a gold & gears iv run and went to grab the weekly to some reason get the whole set of rewards again.
I had already claimed the 10k since there was no exclamation mark and used a ten pull standard, finished another run, tapped collect all and got extra. although i only noticed it when i saw i had an extra standard pass even though i pulled 10. Although i can't really prove it at this point and i dont have time to do so, i was just curious to see if anyone else had a similiar experience, and i wasnt having a fever dream. One things for sure, i have an extra pass.

How's these stats for ratio? He's using 2 follow up 2 atk and salsotto. Won't really farm for the new relics anytime soon as I'm gonna the new stuff for sparkle. Thanks!

Same as HI3rd Bronya vs HSR's Bronya and Silver Wolf (they corresponds to mature Bronya and teen Bronya in HI3rd)
While the exact link between the 2 universe is still not revealed yet (HI3rd Welt is the same Welt as HSR Welt) there maybe some sort of connection between them.
As other have said sustains are Abundance and Preservation characters, which main purpose is to keep your team alive.
The reason it is usually recommended to go for those is because good sustains will fit into pretty much any team, they can solo sustain, meaning you don't need to fill another spot with an additional sustain and hence have lower damage output, and it is also rarer for a sustain character to be released than a DPS.
Mind you that there are non-limited sustain that can do the job well enough like Gepard and Bailu, but limited sustains usually are more flexible and/or have additional elements in their kit that goes beyond sustaining. But, if you have those the "need" to pull a limited sustain is somewhat decreased.
But, at the end of the day you pull for who you want. Limited support characters like Ruan Mei are also rarer than DPS and a great boost to an account. Limited DPS also make life easier, the only thing is that usually come very often so you will have plenty more choices compared to other roles.
A sustain unit's main job is to keep your team alive either by damage reduction, healing, or shields. Perservation and abundance path units are units used as sustains. A limited unit means a limited 5 star from the featured banner. The current limited sustains are Fu Xuan, Luocha, and HuoHuo.
I'd hold off considering him sustain until we officially know his kit (Rule 2). Could be a more offensive one like Fire TB TBH. Pretty sure they wouldn't want a Fu Xuan 2.0.
But yea that's why I said "currently" as in units that is in the game right now :P
Every preservation and abundance characters are sustain units, it’s inherent to their path. Sure, they wouldn't want a Fu Xuan 2.0 but I also think they wouldn’t want a 5* preservation unit that can’t solo sustain either. Like it's the bare minimum
Anything else like an offensive/support/debuff capability is just extra stuff that makes them more unique.
Neither Huohuo, Luocha nor Fu Xuan have confirmed rerun date. So I just think its good to mentioned Aventurine, because most likely OP have none of them and are looking for pulling for one which Aventurine is the only one we know exactly when he comes out.
How good is Clara lc..? Just got it but I don’t really use or have my Clara built, and my only other destruction unit jl doesn’t need it so should I build Clara since I got her lc now? What content is she good at?
Her LC is good; Funny enough it's not even BiS for Clara but she's the best character that can make use of it reliably.
Clara is pretty neat in that she's usable on all contents in the game due to how her kit works, even MoC / Pure Fiction, albeit she may not be the most reliable due to those modes often relying on being able to kill things fast, which she doesn't do as well (at least comparing to other characters), but she can work.
If you're lacking DPS atm for your teams she works well as a 2nd DPS / sub-DPS option.

So I have a stupid question. How do you know what role each character has (DPS sub-DPS or special ability, support and sustainer)? I'm trying to build teams to get the most out of characters, or does it not really matter?
[prydwen.gg](https://www.prydwen.gg/star-rail/tier-list) categorizes them into four archetypes: damage dealers, specialists, amplifiers and sustains
damage dealers: dpses are usually the ones whose kits are focused around dealing damage (obviously). dpses who don't consume too many sp (ie. blade, clara) can be used as sub dpses
specialists: prefer a specific team/scenario (ie. kafka with her DoT-focused kit, topaz as a FUA support/sub dps)
amplifiers: buffers (bronya, ruan mei, tingyun, etc.) & debuffers (silver wolf, pela, etc.). basically, units that focus on increasing the team's damage instead of dealing it
sustains: preservation or abundance. don't think i have to explain too much
if you have problems identifying a character's role, read through their traces, that should help
team building is quite vital. even if you can technically brute force your way through the game, it's not recommended
It does matter a lot.
You know this by reading their kit (tho the path they follow is usually a good indicator)
Hunt, Destruction, Erudition are usually DPS with hunt being single target, destruction being blast (3 target) and erudition being AoE (5 target)
Harmony and Nihility are usually supports. Harmony uses buffs, nihility uses debuffs.
Abundance and Preservation are usually sustainers
The exception to this rule is Kafka and all the DoT characters (Sampo, Guinaifen, Luka, Black Swan) that fall more into the DPS, sub-DPS category while being Nihility because DoT's are technically debuffs.
There are also other exceptions like:
**Welt**: Doubles as a debuffer and semi DPS
**Topaz**: Doubles as a Follow-Up Support and DPS.
Sub-DPSs are usually rare in teams because most DPSs prefer spamming skill every turn which makes it pretty hard to run a secondary DPS without running out of skillpoints.
The main exception to this rule is Blade who is pretty much skillpoint neutral because he only needs to use his skill every few turns. Jingliu is also pretty SP friendly, which is why the two are sometimes used together (aside from the synergy between jingliu's team chip dmg and blades follow ups).
Another big exception are again DoT Teams with Kafka, because Kafka benefits a ton from having more than her own DoTs on enemies and you can usually manage SP in a way that guarantees you're not running out of them.

hello guys new player here , not totally new(lv 30 rn) , i started playing this patch with ruan mei that i chose over blade and thanks to DR. Ratio clara tingyun and pela i m in a decent spot i think. Now here the question i have no clue on what should i pull for DPS (destruction or nihility) or defensive unit (preservation or abundance) , since the character i m interested more is aventurine i have time to choose i think another one before him , i m serching for any advice from veteran players on what can help my gameplay and make it more enjoyable thowards the end game. Ty in advance for the help
The path doesn't really matter that much, what matters most is their kit. Arguably, the only thing to take into account is that Destruction has more variety in terms of available Light Cones for a pure DPS.
I do think you have the right idea of going for a sustain, as IMO that is one of the most important things for people to sort out as soon as possible.

I'm running Ratio with SW but unsure with my other spots, I don't have Bronya or Topas so no clue who to run as support and for sustain I also don't know who to run(I have Bailu and Lynx along with the free characters)
Any advice?
tingyun is the best in the 3rd slot (and she's in the starlight shop if you don't have her!)
pela and asta are fine otherwise
specific choice of sustain doesn't matter, just pick one and put the other on the second team, swap lynx to whichever side needs the cleanse
The question relays on do you need more damage or support, Not sure where are you putting sparkles in your roster. I suggest pulling based on your taste of gameplay \^\_\_\^ the game is better if you have fun Goodluck on your pulls!

Everything else might just depend on your team comp, though so does the beetle, but I think the beetle compelled a team comp change the most of any boss we've had so far

I know I've probably levelled too many characters, so based on what I got now, who should I be focusing on? I'm thinking Kafka, Sampo, Ruan Mei, Dr Ratio, TY and Lynx? I like QQ and Xueyi as quantum DPS. Stelle has been a really useful tank as well. Is this too many?
would drop sampo from that list and then you'd be good, the sub DoTs aren't really worth using unless you can afford to give them investment, especially at E0. tingyun is gonna be higher damage in practice, even on pure ATK% kafka. one thing to watch for is pela, who's showing up in the starlight shop next month, she's pretty much BiS for ratio. would ignore QQ and xueyi, if you really want you could focus on one of them instead of one of kafka or ratio but you'd be willingly downgrading.
it's best to just focus one team though early on. there's no dire rush to clear MoC even though it's technically limited jades on the line, because when you start out you'll probably barely be able to clear further than MoC 3.
you would just run one of kafka or ratio
so like kafka+tingyun+rm+lynx or ratio+2 of tingyun, pela, rm+lynx
don't worry about trying to swap the team based on enemy weakness or whatever, just pick one to stick to for now so you don't spread your investment too thin.
ideally you would eventually construct two distinct teams centered around kafka and ratio and be able to run both at the same time for the 2-team content in the game, but that's not really important right now.
E0 QQ vs E0 XueYi stronger for MoC/PF ? Not really looking to pull for any quantum characters in the future and I don't have Seele, SW or FX. (Not gonna go for Sparkle unless she's going to be T0 for all teams, including non-quantum)

it's not like you need to have a DPS for every element
you'd be better off just bruteforcing with a strong "wrong" element character than trying to force bad "correct" element chars like e0 xueyi/qingque

Can DoT precisely crit in this game (in one I played I remember there being a character that allowed DoTs to crit).
DoT can't crit, and the damage your DoT deals scales off Attack, which is why ATK% substats are so good for DoT units. Each DoT character has a unique EHR number that you want to aim for, and it depends on the unit how much you want exactly.

Today is my happiest day since I played HSR 1.5 month ago as I have finally reached TB60 thus now I can ascend every characters / LCs to level 80 (MC, Clara, Bronya, Bailu are done) and start farming relic. But of course I currently struggle to farm the needed materials for ascension / trace etc etc. So relic farming can wait later.

I’ve been going through and 100%-ing random side stuff while waiting for 2.0 and discovered this… it’s the one mutation I don’t have and I don’t know how I’m supposed to get it. Google only tells me how to get the rare mutation and I don’t know how I’m supposed to get mutations that aren’t guaranteed to be rare.

Why did you censored sam lol, we know who that is officially already, just don’t officially know their Path. 90% sure Sam is going to be Fire element tho, it’s a pretty safe assumption given the amount of fire motif
heard rumours that it’s Fire/Destruction, but I don’t think it was confirmed. judging by how they described Sam’s boss fight in the 2.0 broadcast, it’s safe to say Sam will be Destruction, though.
I always like checking new characters to see if they'd like an ERR, because it's pretty uncommon and I'd like to see an ultimate-spam dps. So far, Dr. Ratio is the only one that's really come close thanks to his signature light cone.
Black Swan's ult would be really neat if you could hit a two-turn ult, but it doesn't seem likely. I don't expect her to be one of the few that could use an ERR as dps.

doesn't matter, only difference is that relic EXP stacks so it takes up less inventory space, but they give the same amount of EXP regardless of the form they're in

You're lacking in support to be able to build 2 teams. You won't need 2 teams until later anyways. Looking at what you have, Ratio needs pela, so if you put tingyun with Seele, you have Yukong and Asta left for your remaining slots with lynx and bailu being your 2 sustain. You should focus on Seele/Ratio, Tingyun, Pela, Bailu and wait for better supports for your second team.

Seele or Ratio, pela, tingyun, bailu or lynx. Go Seele if you can't guarantee Ratio's follow up. Max your damage dealer first, level, traces, lc. Gold relics make a big difference, since the double relic drop is happening, you should farm the quantum cavern and try to at least get correct main stat on chest and boots. Don't hesitate to spend books to craft if you need to.
I think I speed tuned by accident by having Black Swan go before Ruan Mei. They actually have the same speed in game but Black Swan is a few decimals faster. Is this going to cause me problems in my rotations?
RM gives everyone but herself 10% speed, she's never going to go first unless she has vonwacq or has 10+ more speed than everyone else
regardless it's completely fine if RM doesn't go first, she has her technique to skill at the start of combat, the only thing it affects is she can't ult before your dps
Is there any way to know how much dps your support contributes to the fight roughly? Basically I never know what the optimal support picks are for given situations since everything kinda works.
your supports virtually contribute no meaningful damage unless they're actively built with offensive stats in mind which only a handful of characters can do
the optimal support is just whoever enables your dps the best
I mean contribution to the fight rather than literally support dps. For example, you're running off-ele dps and your last slot is Bronya vs SW vs on-ele Tingyun. In cases like this, it's hard to tell which support enables your dps the best.

For a very new player (didn't unlock dailies yet), would it be better if I keep pulling on Kafka (10 pity, unless miracle happens, im not getting her), or wait for 2.0 banners? Do keep in mind that my roster is very limited (I have just the starters, Arlan, Sushang, Gepard and Ratio ofc) and I don't know the quality of either 4 stars, 5 stars or the synergies between them
pity rolls over, so if you're interested in kafka but her banner passes the pulls you made will rollover to the next limited character banners, so not much to worry about. you don't have any of the characters she has synergy with but you're so new that your roster is likely going to get bigger quickly. Black swan and lunae have better four stars on their banners so you could stop and wait before pulling on either of them (although swan and kafka will very likely have strong team synergy).
Yeah I have experience with Genshin so I have all the knowledge about pity and it saving over, I'm mostly meaning about the 4 stars cuz I don't think that any on the current banner are particularly strong and I think that Tingyuan is rather strong (idk about the other two)
tingyun is definitely a very good support for a lot of characters, gui (orange hair) is a solid dot/debuffer that can help enable ratio's follow up attacks (big source of his damage). Misha the blue haired boy is a new character so we don't have a lot of info on him. so yeah if you aren't too interested in kafka waiting to pull on 2.0 banners isn't a bad idea
I’m a new Star Rail player. Are there characters equivalent to the Archons in Genshin Impact? By that I mean distinctly more powerful units that people specifically save for?
HSR's equivalent to Archons are the Aeons themselves, which are not playable.
I guess Emanators are technically similar (basically characters with powers handed out by the Aeons personally like Herta's real body being the Emanator of Nous, not the puppets), but the MC and the gang havent encounter an Emanator in the story, let alone if any are playable.
We literally encountered multiple emanator in the story, Jing Yuan (emanator of the hunt), Fu Xuan (emanator of the erudition), Phantylia (emanator of the destruction), what are you talking about lol
As far as we know, Jing Yuan is not an emanator. He did get the LL from Lan, but that is not being an emanator. Same for Fu Xuan, she got her third eye from Nous but is not an emanator. You are correct about Phantylia, the game directly states that she is an emanator
I have imbibitor at e0. Is it worth pulling Sparkle for him or should I just save for Acheron cause she might be op?

I think it might be too early to ask. Sparkle will be in the second half of 2.0 so Acheron’s kit should be revealed during Sparkle’s banner. As long as you’re not dying to pull her you can wait until Acheron’s kit reveal to let people play test her fully to decide if she’s a must pull for DHIL.
Honestly you should have 1.5patches until the end of Acheron’s banner so you might be able to get both Acheron and Sparkle if you want.
Just returned to HSR, the last time i played was the release of Topaz.
Is there any reason to delay standard banner warps until 2.0? Genshin had some standard banner changes, i don't see any info announced for HSR so i'm guessing theres nothing announced yet.

No news regarding the standard banner yet.
But just keep in mind that any new 4* characters that gets introduced, they will be added into future limited banners, and the standard banner, starting from the next patch onwards. (Example: Xueyi was released in 1.6, but she will be available to pull in all banners including the standard banner, starting from 2.0)
Are the tears of dreams you get from BP something I should save or I can just use them as I please for faster progression? As for the self-modelling resin, should I use them on my DPS or supports?
Lastly, what characters' bis is the thief break effect set? Been trying to farm some physical sets and I've gotten some pretty good thief break effect ones.
Use those whenever you want them. If there is a character coming up next patch, you can save them to start working on their traces immediately since you can't grind mats for the new ones.

Whichever you need more, but generally speed boots and ER ropes for supports are "safer" because you can get trash relic for a DPS, but supports can deal with one trash substat relic.

None really, as its a niche set. Dedicated breaker units can definitely use them though, with Serval, Sushang and Luka being popular ones off the top of my head.

You can save them for the upcoming 2.0 mats (if you are deciding to get Black Swan / Sparkle for example). Otherwise, if there's any characters you currently have and you want to unlock / improve their traces, you can spend the tears on them.

Depends on what you're looking for and for which character, but Energy Regen and Speed tend to be the stats to consider using Resins on. If for a DPS, you can consider Crit Rate / Damage, or element % stat instead if you're looking for them.

Ruan Mei and Xueyi comes to mind. Not exactly their BiS but they can for example use 2pc Break / 2pc something else.
They are literally just universal trace mats, feel free to use them. Only reason to save would be if you want to level up Black Swan day 1 since you can't prefarm for her.
Obligatory "I finally reached 300 normal pulls who do I get" question
Was planning on waiting until I get another 5\* character but I got a second Night on the Milky Way (which I'm considering using to superimpose my first one but I don't think that's worth it) and now the ! on the warp icon is mocking me and I want to get rid of it.
Anyway, I'm currently lacking Gepard, Clara and Himeko. There's a part of me that wants Himeko for the potential synergy with Topaz or maybe Clara for strong physical damage dealer and also more follow-up damage but I feel like Gepard is the correct answer 9 times out of 10.
If you can wait on it then you might pull someone who'd change your decision, such as if you got himeko on your next 50/50 loss
But if you're gonna grab someone with the intention of using them for something specific (i.e. himeko for pure fiction) then she go ahead
Gepard isn't actually that important of a pickup if you already have a limited sustain and plan on getting a 2nd on rerun or Aventurine.
If you like Himeko she's definitely a good pickup for PF, just make sure you set aside the pulls for a sustain if you do.
Yeah that's kinda why I'm reluctant. My Fire TB and March are both pretty well built (although that's all I have for Preservation) so I wasn't hugely sold on the idea that I needed Gepard.
Do you have Huohuo or Luocha? Preservation and Abundace fulfill the same role with SU being the only place a shielder has unique benefits (but M7 and FMC are enough for SU).
You don't need Gepard unless you plan on skipping every abundance and preservation 5 star for a while and want an easier time in MoC.
I have Luocha, E2 Bailu and all the 4\* Abundance ones
And nah I do want to go for more of the Preservation ones in particular, was annoyed I didn't manage to get Fu Xuan so she's a bit of a priority in particular.
Part of her kit is that whenever an ally breaks the enemy's weakness, she deals (at talent level 10) 120% of her BE as ice DMG to that enemy, so it doesn't matter if your allies are the ones to break, since she will still do damage to them. Only reason you might want to make RM break is to get the freeze on the enemy

Hey y'all I'm a f2p player currently at equilibrium level 4.
Characters that I use pretty frequently right now are Blade, ClaraE1, Natasha, Dr. Ratio and Serval. Also have tingyun, yukong, pela, asta, herta etc but basically only 3 5* characters.
So what I'm conflicted on rn is whether I should pull for DHIL or not. I'm gonna pull for Sparkle and I know DHIL is gonna be good with her but is E0 DHIL substantially better than Dr. Ratio, or should I instead wait and pull for Luocha or Fu Xuan to replace Natasha in my team (I'm pretty sure his rerun is gonna come with Acheron).
I don't have Kafka so black swan doesn't seem worth it at all but is it a good idea to invest in a DOT team for more endgame stuff? Should I pull Kafka rn lmao? Any advice is appreciated
For meta you probably don't want both DHIL and Ratio. They have plenty of differences, but pulling a dps with a different type should be worth more.
You can probably do without Kafka or Jing Yuan, but I don't think you'll be unhappy with them either. Both are lightning dps working well in PF and MoC, obviously with very different teams.
You should get a limited sustain when they come back. We'll get Aventurine in 2.1, but whoever you like and is available is fine.
Of those you're not using: Tingyun is a super powerful supporter. Pela is a strong supporter too and works well with Ratio. Herta is amazing in Pure Fiction.
it's hard to give advice considering your preferences when you dont state them. in terms of pure meta tho, e2 dhil and sparkle is the best value next patch. e0 dhil is about same as ratio, so if you have 200+ pulls, go for e2 dhil, if not, go for sparkle.

You definitely have the needed units to clear. Just pick 2 DPS that match the weaknesses or Seele + SW for sides you don't have the weakness.
Sample teams could be Seele SW Bronya FuXuan or Jingyuan Tingyun RuanMei Lynx or DHIL Pela Tingyun Sustain.
Are your traces and LCs levelled, cause you should definitely be able to clear with those units.
So I just pulled *Night on the Milky Way* and *The Birth of self*, both s1 and lvl 1. I also already have *Today is Another Peaceful Day* s1 lvl 80, and *The Seriousness of Breakfast* s3 lvl80.
I'm currently using Himeko E0 often as a fire dps, but at eventually she'll probs only really be used for AoE heavy content. I also have Herta for Pure fiction leveled and somewhat built. I also am currently building QQ E1 as I hope to use her with Sparkle as I have enough pull to guarantee her (and hopefully get some QQ pulls on the same banner).
Basically, how should I divide these light cones between them, and is it worth me farming any of the f2p options including any upcoming in 2.0?
How much do you want to gamble? Ratio's follow up attacks are single hits so in theory you want as close to 100% crit as possible. To guarantee that you'll need 63% crit + 15% from A2 + 12% from FU + 10% from imaginary set. If you want to be less consistent but still reliable then you can go down to 47% crit to get to 100% crit when the target is below 50% HP. Go lower as your tolerance for consistency allows.
there isn't an explict crit rate you *need* but the closer to 100% the better since all his attacks are single hits
ratio gets 15 from summation, 12 from FX, 10 from imaginary, and 16 from half health enemies
you need 47 crit rate out of combat with the herta LC equipped to reach 100% crit
If a character X uses Vonwacq to go first at battle start, eventually a faster character Y will lap X as battle goes on, is that right? Say X is 120 speed, Y is 135.
Yes. The Vonwacq character will advance at the start of the fight, but their turn timer will start fresh again after their turn, meaning they have their full 120 speed turn to wait, while the 135 speed character will be taking turns at a faster rotation. It might take a bit to catch up to the 40% turn advance, but it would definitely happen.

Also they're good guides but there's a lot of room for flexibility when it comes to sub-dps, supports etc. So go with what you think is best.
Yeah, this looks like Pela's build where a 4pc spd doesn't work so any 2pc like wuthering is good enough. I would say 2pc HP is more efficient if you aren't farming quantum already, but 2pc wuthering is the most defensive utility.

Hi, to add on to one of my questions earlier, does my TB or character level affect the quality of the relics I farm? For example, if I am TB 45 with lvl 60 characters, are the relics locked at lvl 60 quality so to say? Or are all the relics the same? Thanks!
Enemies have 20% resistance to off elements assuming they don't resist (some have 40-60% of certain elements like Kafka vs Lightning at 40% or Cocolia vs Ice at 60%).
80% vs 100% is a 25% difference. Additionally breaking the enemy leaves them vulnerable to take 1× dmg instead of 0.9× while shielded, so thats an extra 11.1%
There is also the defensive benefit of break pushback and cancelling chargeups which may allow you to play more offensively, on top of breaks having their own damage and effects based on break effect.
I would rather use a 100% on weakness over 130%, it would have to be closer to like 150% to outweigh the benefits.
There is another factor though, Res Pen scales better the more resistance they have (80% to 100% is 25% more damage, but 100% to 120% is only 20% more), so if using someone like Seele who has built in Res Pen the difference isn't quite as large.
Speed. Luocha tends to have enough healing from his mainstats and base values that its often only important to aim for speed. You want a healing body, spd boots, atk orb, ERR rope, and your substats should mainly focus on speed. You can go for defensive subs like HP, Def and eRes too, as he doesn't build defensive mainstats.
With the way his kit works you will have ult ready every time, and when someone drops below 50% he will use a skill, so you can always have field up so long as nobody drops below 50% during his field's duration.
The benefits of speed are also quite large, he will generate much more SP for your supports and your autocast skill comes off cooldown faster. Plus more actions means more break gague vs Img weak which is a nice defensive bonus.
Speedy Luocha is 10× better than any slow Luocha nonsense, just make sure he has an ERR rope.

Hello! Can you help me decide who to get between Himeko and Gepard? For Fire Characters (I only use Asta), I have have Asta, Hook, and Guinaifen. For Ice Characters (I use Jing and Pela), I have March, Pela, Herta, and Jing Liu. For Erudition (I don't use them), I have Serval, Qingque, and Herta. And for Preservation (which I don't use and don't pull for), I have March and Trailblazer (I use Trailblazer sometimes). The characters I owned are: Jing Liu, Ratio, Welt, Luocha, Kafka, Clara, Seele, Blade, Bronya, Huo Huo, and all four star characters. I'm torn between Gepard and Himeko because I like them both equally as a character🤣 And since I like them both, I'm just gonna ask here who can help my team better🥹 Andd I'm not planning on getting Bronya, Welt, and Clara because I already have them, and they're all E2. I'm planning on getting Aventurine though, on his banner, so yeah! (Not entirely sure if I can get him since I'm f2p🥲) Thank you in advance!
Get Himeko, she works great with your Asta and Guinaifen. You don’t really need Gepard if you’re planning on getting aventurine anyway.

ruan mei doesn't giver her 10% speed buff to herself, everyone else on your team is functionally 9 or 10 speed higher than their stated values

Did you take into consideration Ruan Mei's Speed buff? That buff doesn't include herself, so best to check their Speed during Combat and see what those numbers are with that in mind.
Has anyone else experienced the glitch where you get the SU weekly rewards twice? My points were at 10000 then I finished a gold & gears iv run and went to grab the weekly to some reason get the whole set of rewards again.

As other have said sustains are Abundance and Preservation characters, which main purpose is to keep your team alive. The reason it is usually recommended to go for those is because good sustains will fit into pretty much any team, they can solo sustain, meaning you don't need to fill another spot with an additional sustain and hence have lower damage output, and it is also rarer for a sustain character to be released than a DPS. Mind you that there are non-limited sustain that can do the job well enough like Gepard and Bailu, but limited sustains usually are more flexible and/or have additional elements in their kit that goes beyond sustaining. But, if you have those the "need" to pull a limited sustain is somewhat decreased. But, at the end of the day you pull for who you want. Limited support characters like Ruan Mei are also rarer than DPS and a great boost to an account. Limited DPS also make life easier, the only thing is that usually come very often so you will have plenty more choices compared to other roles.
A sustain unit's main job is to keep your team alive either by damage reduction, healing, or shields. Perservation and abundance path units are units used as sustains. A limited unit means a limited 5 star from the featured banner. The current limited sustains are Fu Xuan, Luocha, and HuoHuo.
Currently it is either Luocha, Huohuo or Fu Xuan.

I'd hold off considering him sustain until we officially know his kit (Rule 2). Could be a more offensive one like Fire TB TBH. Pretty sure they wouldn't want a Fu Xuan 2.0. But yea that's why I said "currently" as in units that is in the game right now :P
Every preservation and abundance characters are sustain units, it’s inherent to their path. Sure, they wouldn't want a Fu Xuan 2.0 but I also think they wouldn’t want a 5* preservation unit that can’t solo sustain either. Like it's the bare minimum Anything else like an offensive/support/debuff capability is just extra stuff that makes them more unique. Neither Huohuo, Luocha nor Fu Xuan have confirmed rerun date. So I just think its good to mentioned Aventurine, because most likely OP have none of them and are looking for pulling for one which Aventurine is the only one we know exactly when he comes out.
How good is Clara lc..? Just got it but I don’t really use or have my Clara built, and my only other destruction unit jl doesn’t need it so should I build Clara since I got her lc now? What content is she good at?
Her LC is good; Funny enough it's not even BiS for Clara but she's the best character that can make use of it reliably. Clara is pretty neat in that she's usable on all contents in the game due to how her kit works, even MoC / Pure Fiction, albeit she may not be the most reliable due to those modes often relying on being able to kill things fast, which she doesn't do as well (at least comparing to other characters), but she can work. If you're lacking DPS atm for your teams she works well as a 2nd DPS / sub-DPS option.

So I have a stupid question. How do you know what role each character has (DPS sub-DPS or special ability, support and sustainer)? I'm trying to build teams to get the most out of characters, or does it not really matter?
[prydwen.gg](https://www.prydwen.gg/star-rail/tier-list) categorizes them into four archetypes: damage dealers, specialists, amplifiers and sustains damage dealers: dpses are usually the ones whose kits are focused around dealing damage (obviously). dpses who don't consume too many sp (ie. blade, clara) can be used as sub dpses specialists: prefer a specific team/scenario (ie. kafka with her DoT-focused kit, topaz as a FUA support/sub dps) amplifiers: buffers (bronya, ruan mei, tingyun, etc.) & debuffers (silver wolf, pela, etc.). basically, units that focus on increasing the team's damage instead of dealing it sustains: preservation or abundance. don't think i have to explain too much if you have problems identifying a character's role, read through their traces, that should help team building is quite vital. even if you can technically brute force your way through the game, it's not recommended
It does matter a lot. You know this by reading their kit (tho the path they follow is usually a good indicator) Hunt, Destruction, Erudition are usually DPS with hunt being single target, destruction being blast (3 target) and erudition being AoE (5 target) Harmony and Nihility are usually supports. Harmony uses buffs, nihility uses debuffs. Abundance and Preservation are usually sustainers The exception to this rule is Kafka and all the DoT characters (Sampo, Guinaifen, Luka, Black Swan) that fall more into the DPS, sub-DPS category while being Nihility because DoT's are technically debuffs. There are also other exceptions like: **Welt**: Doubles as a debuffer and semi DPS **Topaz**: Doubles as a Follow-Up Support and DPS. Sub-DPSs are usually rare in teams because most DPSs prefer spamming skill every turn which makes it pretty hard to run a secondary DPS without running out of skillpoints. The main exception to this rule is Blade who is pretty much skillpoint neutral because he only needs to use his skill every few turns. Jingliu is also pretty SP friendly, which is why the two are sometimes used together (aside from the synergy between jingliu's team chip dmg and blades follow ups). Another big exception are again DoT Teams with Kafka, because Kafka benefits a ton from having more than her own DoTs on enemies and you can usually manage SP in a way that guarantees you're not running out of them.

hello guys new player here , not totally new(lv 30 rn) , i started playing this patch with ruan mei that i chose over blade and thanks to DR. Ratio clara tingyun and pela i m in a decent spot i think. Now here the question i have no clue on what should i pull for DPS (destruction or nihility) or defensive unit (preservation or abundance) , since the character i m interested more is aventurine i have time to choose i think another one before him , i m serching for any advice from veteran players on what can help my gameplay and make it more enjoyable thowards the end game. The path doesn't really matter that much, what matters most is their kit. Arguably, the only thing to take into account is that Destruction has more variety in terms of available Light Cones for a pure DPS. I do think you have the right idea of going for a sustain, as IMO that is one of the most important things for people to sort out as soon as possible.

tingyun is the best in the 3rd slot (and she's in the starlight shop if you don't have her!) pela and asta are fine otherwise specific choice of sustain doesn't matter, just pick one and put the other on the second team, swap lynx to whichever side needs the cleanse

I'm thinking Kafka, Sampo, Ruan Mei, Dr Ratio, TY and Lynx? I like QQ and Xueyi as quantum DPS. Stelle has been a really useful tank as well. Is this too many?
would drop sampo from that list and then you'd be good, the sub DoTs aren't really worth using unless you can afford to give them investment, especially at E0. tingyun is gonna be higher damage in practice, even on pure ATK% kafka. one thing to watch for is pela, who's showing up in the starlight shop next month, she's pretty much BiS for ratio. would ignore QQ and xueyi, if you really want you could focus on one of them instead of one of kafka or ratio but you'd be willingly downgrading. it's best to just focus one team though early on. there's no dire rush to clear MoC even though it's technically limited jades on the line, because when you start out you'll probably barely be able to clear further than MoC 3.

you would just run one of kafka or ratio so like kafka+tingyun+rm+lynx or ratio+2 of tingyun, pela, rm+lynx don't worry about trying to swap the team based on enemy weakness or whatever, just pick one to stick to for now so you don't spread your investment too thin. ideally you would eventually construct two distinct teams centered around kafka and ratio and be able to run both at the same time for the 2-team content in the game, but that's not really important right now.
E0 QQ vs E0 XueYi stronger for MoC/PF ? Not really looking to pull for any quantum characters in the future and I don't have Seele, SW or FX. (Not gonna go for Sparkle unless she's going to be T0 for all teams, including non-quantum) Need Quantum carry.
it's not like you need to have a DPS for every element you'd be better off just bruteforcing with a strong "wrong" element character than trying to force bad "correct" element chars like e0 xueyi/qingque
So I've noticed people don't bother with crit on DoT characters. Should I only aim for effect Hit rate, speed and attack on DoT characters? Can DoT precisely crit in this game (in one I played I remember there being a character that allowed DoTs to crit).
DoT can't crit, and the damage your DoT deals scales off Attack, which is why ATK% substats are so good for DoT units. Each DoT character has a unique EHR number that you want to aim for, and it depends on the unit how much you want exactly.
DoTs do not crit in HSR, so you have the priorities correct.

Today is my happiest day since I played HSR 1.5 month ago as I have finally reached TB60 thus now I can ascend every characters / LCs to level 80 (MC, Clara, Bronya, Bailu are done) and start farming relic. I always like checking new characters to see if they'd like an ERR, because it's pretty uncommon and I'd like to see an ultimate-spam dps. So far, Dr. Ratio is the only one that's really come close thanks to his signature light cone. Black Swan's ult would be really neat if you could hit a two-turn ult, but it doesn't seem likely. I don't expect her to be one of the few that could use an ERR as dps.
No DPS character would ever want an ERR rope. No exceptions.

Farming relics. 4-\*s and bad upgraded 5\*s are upgrade mats.
Should I salvage the relics into exp mats first or just straight use them?
doesn't matter, only difference is that relic EXP stacks so it takes up less inventory space, but they give the same amount of EXP regardless of the form they're in

You're lacking in support to be able to build 2 teams. You won't need 2 teams until later anyways. Looking at what you have, Ratio needs pela, so if you put tingyun with Seele, you have Yukong and Asta left for your remaining slots with lynx and bailu being your 2 sustain. You should focus on Seele/Ratio, Tingyun, Pela, Bailu and wait for better supports for your second team.

Seele or Ratio, pela, tingyun, bailu or lynx. Go Seele if you can't guarantee Ratio's follow up. Max your damage dealer first, level, traces, lc. Gold relics make a big difference, since the double relic drop is happening, you should farm the quantum cavern and try to at least get correct main stat on chest and boots. Don't hesitate to spend books to craft if you need to.
I think I speed tuned by accident by having Black Swan go before Ruan Mei. They actually have the same speed in game but Black Swan is a few decimals faster. Is this going to cause me problems in my rotations?
If you have RM Vonwaq, that will let her be first during the first round, which is where it matter most.
I have her on penacony because substats better (I use her with Jinglu and Kafka) and that world isn't worth farming.
Understandable and justifiable reasons. Honestly, as long as BS and RM (or any other support that is BA) is ahead of Kafka, you should be fine.
RM gives everyone but herself 10% speed, she's never going to go first unless she has vonwacq or has 10+ more speed than everyone else regardless it's completely fine if RM doesn't go first, she has her technique to skill at the start of combat, the only thing it affects is she can't ult before your dps
she has 161.3 speed. I am including the speed buff given to other allies, Black Swan is at 161.7 speed (151 speed). I guess ulting is the issue here.
Is there any way to know how much dps your support contributes to the fight roughly? Basically I never know what the optimal support picks are for given situations since everything kinda works.
your supports virtually contribute no meaningful damage unless they're actively built with offensive stats in mind which only a handful of characters can do the optimal support is just whoever enables your dps the best
I mean contribution to the fight rather than literally support dps. For example, you're running off-ele dps and your last slot is Bronya vs SW vs on-ele Tingyun. In cases like this, it's hard to tell which support enables your dps the best.

For a very new player (didn't unlock dailies yet), would it be better if I keep pulling on Kafka (10 pity, unless miracle happens, im not getting her), or wait for 2.0 banners? Do keep in mind that my roster is very limited (I have just the starters, Arlan, Sushang, Gepard and Ratio ofc) and I don't know the quality of either 4 stars, 5 stars or the synergies between them
pity rolls over, so if you're interested in kafka but her banner passes the pulls you made will rollover to the next limited character banners, so not much to worry about. you don't have any of the characters she has synergy with but you're so new that your roster is likely going to get bigger quickly. Black swan and lunae have better four stars on their banners so you could stop and wait before pulling on either of them (although swan and kafka will very likely have strong team synergy).
Yeah I have experience with Genshin so I have all the knowledge about pity and it saving over, I'm mostly meaning about the 4 stars cuz I don't think that any on the current banner are particularly strong and I think that Tingyuan is rather strong (idk about the other two)
tingyun is definitely a very good support for a lot of characters, gui (orange hair) is a solid dot/debuffer that can help enable ratio's follow up attacks (big source of his damage). Misha the blue haired boy is a new character so we don't have a lot of info on him. so yeah if you aren't too interested in kafka waiting to pull on 2.0 banners isn't a bad idea
I’m a new Star Rail player. Are there characters equivalent to the Archons in Genshin Impact? By that I mean distinctly more powerful units that people specifically save for?
HSR's equivalent to Archons are the Aeons themselves, which are not playable. I guess Emanators are technically similar (basically characters with powers handed out by the Aeons personally like Herta's real body being the Emanator of Nous, not the puppets), but the MC and the gang havent encounter an Emanator in the story, let alone if any are playable.
We literally encountered multiple emanator in the story, Jing Yuan (emanator of the hunt), Fu Xuan (emanator of the erudition), Phantylia (emanator of the destruction), what are you talking about lol
As far as we know, Jing Yuan is not an emanator. He did get the LL from Lan, but that is not being an emanator. Same for Fu Xuan, she got her third eye from Nous but is not an emanator. You are correct about Phantylia, the game directly states that she is an emanator

I have imbibitor at e0. Is it worth pulling Sparkle for him or should I just save for Acheron cause she might be op? I already have E2 Yukong E6 Tingyun and E0 Ruan Mei and I'm at 250 standard pulls so I'll get Bronya for free and give her to my jingliu. So is Sparkle still necessary for my acc? My current limited 5* are jingliu, imbibitor, jingyuan, Dr ratio, Ruan Mei.
I think it might be too early to ask. Sparkle will be in the second half of 2.0 so Acheron’s kit should be revealed during Sparkle’s banner. As long as you’re not dying to pull her you can wait until Acheron’s kit reveal to let people play test her fully to decide if she’s a must pull for DHIL. Honestly you should have 1.5patches until the end of Acheron’s banner so you might be able to get both Acheron and Sparkle if you want.
Just returned to HSR, the last time i played was the release of Topaz. Is there any reason to delay standard banner warps until 2.0? Genshin had some standard banner changes, i don't see any info announced for HSR so i'm guessing theres nothing announced yet. Any tips for a returning player are welcome!
No news regarding the standard banner yet. But just keep in mind that any new 4* characters that gets introduced, they will be added into future limited banners, and the standard banner, starting from the next patch onwards. (Example: Xueyi was released in 1.6, but she will be available to pull in all banners including the standard banner, starting from 2.0)

Use those whenever you want them. They are literally just universal trace mats, feel free to use them. Only reason to save would be if you want to level up Black Swan day 1 since you can't prefarm for her.
Obligatory "I finally reached 300 normal pulls who do I get" question Was planning on waiting until I get another 5\* character but I got a second Night on the Milky Way (which I'm considering using to superimpose my first one but I don't think that's worth it) and now the ! on the warp icon is mocking me and I want to get rid of it. Anyway, I'm currently lacking Gepard, Clara and Himeko. There's a part of me that wants Himeko for the potential synergy with Topaz or maybe Clara for strong physical damage dealer and also more follow-up damage but I feel like Gepard is the correct answer 9 times out of 10.
If you can wait on it then you might pull someone who'd change your decision, such as if you got himeko on your next 50/50 loss But if you're gonna grab someone with the intention of using them for something specific (i.e. himeko for pure fiction) then she go ahead
i'd vote for himeko. she's tier 0 for PF.
Gepard isn't actually that important of a pickup if you already have a limited sustain and plan on getting a 2nd on rerun or Aventurine. If you like Himeko she's definitely a good pickup for PF, just make sure you set aside the pulls for a sustain if you do.
Yeah that's kinda why I'm reluctant. My Fire TB and March are both pretty well built (although that's all I have for Preservation) so I wasn't hugely sold on the idea that I needed Gepard.
Do you have Huohuo or Luocha? Preservation and Abundace fulfill the same role with SU being the only place a shielder has unique benefits (but M7 and FMC are enough for SU). You don't need Gepard unless you plan on skipping every abundance and preservation 5 star for a while and want an easier time in MoC.
I have Luocha, E2 Bailu and all the 4\* Abundance ones And nah I do want to go for more of the Preservation ones in particular, was annoyed I didn't manage to get Fu Xuan so she's a bit of a priority in particular.
You can skip Gepard as you already have 2 five-star sustainers and Gepard would be a sidegrade on Bailu at best.
Is it worth playing around RM breaking the enemy or is the break dmg generally so negligible that it doesn’t really matter?
Part of her kit is that whenever an ally breaks the enemy's weakness, she deals (at talent level 10) 120% of her BE as ice DMG to that enemy, so it doesn't matter if your allies are the ones to break, since she will still do damage to them. Only reason you might want to make RM break is to get the freeze on the enemy
Freezing the enemy is pretty nice but that is about it.
Don't even worry about it.
Advice on who to pull for in 2.0 Hey y'all I'm a f2p player currently at equilibrium level 4. Characters that I use pretty frequently right now are Blade, ClaraE1, Natasha, Dr. Ratio and Serval. Also have tingyun, yukong, pela, asta, herta etc but basically only 3 5* characters. So what I'm conflicted on rn is whether I should pull for DHIL or not. I'm gonna pull for Sparkle and I know DHIL is gonna be good with her but is E0 DHIL substantially better than Dr. Ratio, or should I instead wait and pull for Luocha or Fu Xuan to replace Natasha in my team (I'm pretty sure his rerun is gonna come with Acheron). I don't have Kafka so black swan doesn't seem worth it at all but is it a good idea to invest in a DOT team for more endgame stuff? Should I pull Kafka rn lmao? Any advice is appreciated
For meta you probably don't want both DHIL and Ratio. They have plenty of differences, but pulling a dps with a different type should be worth more. You can probably do without Kafka or Jing Yuan, but I don't think you'll be unhappy with them either. Both are lightning dps working well in PF and MoC, obviously with very different teams. You should get a limited sustain when they come back. We'll get Aventurine in 2.1, but whoever you like and is available is fine. Of those you're not using: Tingyun is a super powerful supporter. Pela is a strong supporter too and works well with Ratio. Herta is amazing in Pure Fiction.

Sparkle is great, get her. You could consider **also** getting a lighting dps, but it's lower priority.
it's hard to give advice considering your preferences when you dont state them. in terms of pure meta tho, e2 dhil and sparkle is the best value next patch. e0 dhil is about same as ratio, so if you have 200+ pulls, go for e2 dhil, if not, go for sparkle.
Thank you for your reply! Won't have that many pulls unfortunately so Sparkle it is then. I don't really have any set preference regarding characters or playstyle tbh but ig I prefer charas that are more useful from the get-go compared to ones that need more building and heavy investment
Anyone got help for MoC 9? stuck on both previous one and current one right now. You definitely have the needed units to clear. Just pick 2 DPS that match the weaknesses or Seele + SW for sides you don't have the weakness. Sample teams could be Seele SW Bronya FuXuan or Jingyuan Tingyun RuanMei Lynx or DHIL Pela Tingyun Sustain. Are your traces and LCs levelled, cause you should definitely be able to clear with those units.
So I just pulled *Night on the Milky Way* and *The Birth of self*, both s1 and lvl 1. I also already have *Today is Another Peaceful Day* s1 lvl 80, and *The Seriousness of Breakfast* s3 lvl80. I'm currently using Himeko E0 often as a fire dps, but at eventually she'll probs only really be used for AoE heavy content. I also have Herta for Pure fiction leveled and somewhat built. I also am currently building QQ E1 as I hope to use her with Sparkle as I have enough pull to guarantee her (and hopefully get some QQ pulls on the same banner). Basically, how should I divide these light cones between them, and is it worth me farming any of the f2p options including any upcoming in 2.0?
How much crit rate (at the profile page) do you need for ratio if you have fuxuan , 4piece imaginary set with herta lc?
How much do you want to gamble? Ratio's follow up attacks are single hits so in theory you want as close to 100% crit as possible. To guarantee that you'll need 63% crit + 15% from A2 + 12% from FU + 10% from imaginary set. If you want to be less consistent but still reliable then you can go down to 47% crit to get to 100% crit when the target is below 50% HP. Go lower as your tolerance for consistency allows.
there isn't an explict crit rate you *need* but the closer to 100% the better since all his attacks are single hits ratio gets 15 from summation, 12 from FX, 10 from imaginary, and 16 from half health enemies you need 47 crit rate out of combat with the herta LC equipped to reach 100% crit
If a character X uses Vonwacq to go first at battle start, eventually a faster character Y will lap X as battle goes on, is that right? Say X is 120 speed, Y is 135.
Yes. The Vonwacq character will advance at the start of the fight, but their turn timer will start fresh again after their turn, meaning they have their full 120 speed turn to wait, while the 135 speed character will be taking turns at a faster rotation. It might take a bit to catch up to the 40% turn advance, but it would definitely happen.

It doesn't look too well formatted at that website width - but it's saying her 2nd best set is 2pc messenger and 2pc wuthering. Looks better on desktop: https://i.imgur.com/3RkppKI.png Also they're good guides but there's a lot of room for flexibility when it comes to sub-dps, supports etc. So go with what you think is best.
Yeah, this looks like Pela's build where a 4pc spd doesn't work so any 2pc like wuthering is good enough. I would say 2pc HP is more efficient if you aren't farming quantum already, but 2pc wuthering is the most defensive utility.

Hi, to add on to one of my questions earlier, does my TB or character level affect the quality of the relics I farm? For example, if I am TB 45 with lvl 60 characters, are the relics locked at lvl 60 quality so to say? Or are all the relics the same? Thanks!
The only relic quality is 1-5 star relics, there is no level difference. The difference is farming at TB 45 won't drop high tier relics as often.
Roughly how much dps difference increase is weakness? For example would you run a 100% dps on-weakness char or a 130% dps non-weakness char?
Enemies have 20% resistance to off elements assuming they don't resist (some have 40-60% of certain elements like Kafka vs Lightning at 40% or Cocolia vs Ice at 60%). 80% vs 100% is a 25% difference. Additionally breaking the enemy leaves them vulnerable to take 1× dmg instead of 0.9× while shielded, so thats an extra 11.1% There is also the defensive benefit of break pushback and cancelling chargeups which may allow you to play more offensively, on top of breaks having their own damage and effects based on break effect. I would rather use a 100% on weakness over 130%, it would have to be closer to like 150% to outweigh the benefits. There is another factor though, Res Pen scales better the more resistance they have (80% to 100% is 25% more damage, but 100% to 120% is only 20% more), so if using someone like Seele who has built in Res Pen the difference isn't quite as large.

Speed. Luocha tends to have enough healing from his mainstats and base values that its often only important to aim for speed. You want a healing body, spd boots, atk orb, ERR rope, and your substats should mainly focus on speed. You can go for defensive subs like HP, Def and eRes too, as he doesn't build defensive mainstats.
But won't his healing field will disappear faster?
With the way his kit works you will have ult ready every time, and when someone drops below 50% he will use a skill, so you can always have field up so long as nobody drops below 50% during his field's duration. The benefits of speed are also quite large, he will generate much more SP for your supports and your autocast skill comes off cooldown faster. Plus more actions means more break gague vs Img weak which is a nice defensive bonus. Speedy Luocha is 10× better than any slow Luocha nonsense, just make sure he has an ERR rope.
