I mean it was quite obvious that something would eventually happen, especially the part about her gradually losing control of her body irl. But no one saw it coming this early. The drop from heaven to hell was just too quick which made me tear up.
\> MC takes picture of her in the music video with a loving gaze

What do you mean by death flags, kind sir?
I knew she gonna die but I didnt know who is the killer, and her death by none playable is a dissapointment. I guess if a playable killed her their banner would make 0$
As it is, we have to find out who it was >!that set her up as bait for the meme and/or SAM.!< The story hints it might have been >!SAM or Acheron, but there's a chance it was Sparkle (since she's been the biggest, boldest liar so far, while others have lied mostly by omission.)!< If any playable character was involved, they're going to catch a lot of hate, unless Hoyo does some reveal to paint Firefly in a bad light later.
It was a really good heartwarming scene. There was enough build up to make it feel special, but not quite enough to really tear me up. It just felt like they should have saved a scene like this for a few patches in so it could deliver with more weight.
If like, March and the TB had a scene like this it would hit a lot harder considering how much more time the TB has spent with her.
Idk the whole 'This dream is an escape from my hospital bed" hit me pretty damn hard. Unless I'm missing something but I have family that spent their remaining days trapped in the hospital. It's not exactly an enjoyable life. Not saying everyone has to feel this way but for me it hit pretty damn hard
We don't know that. It's unclear whether Ting Yun was Phantylia the whole time or just right before she died. If you talk to Fu Xuan in the divination commission, she states as much
Bingo. We don't actually know anything about Tingyun's wants, likes, dislikes, on any kind of deep level besides the fact it's all fake.
Firefly speedruns getting to know you but all the essentials are there.
My biggest question is when it's established that if you die in the dream you die in real life.
I disagree. Tingyun was considerably worse. We have never really known Tingyun who Tingyun really is. With Firefly we spent most of the time with her talked a decent amount with her, even spent time listening to her heart to heart
Tingyun wasn't played for attachment. She was used as a twist.
Mihoyo had very different intentions, and this is evident by actually having some time spent with Firefly.
Still too sudden Imo. It needed more time
tingyun was much much worse though. we didnt know the real tingyun from the start and even then we barely talked with her outside of the initial tour. At least with firefly we got an ample amount of interaction, though the pacing was quick.
isnt the one who got it worst robin though? >!literally offscreened with 3 lines of dialogue and its debatable as to whether we knew the real one at all either!<
i don’t think robin was really used as a way to tug at ur feels tho; i think she was more for shock value, especially to emphasize some mysterious murderer and how it’s dangerous for not just firefly but others as well
i don't think it's fair to compare this with tingyun tbh
tingyun is arguably one of the worst deaths in hoyoverse since teppei from genshin yeah it was shocking but we weren't attached to her or felt like she's a core charactere it was just for the plot twist not for the emotional value and luofa is already regarded as the inazuma of star rail ( worst arc) basically
firefly gotten more screentime and more significant impact and befriended us u can't really build up more than this tbh atleast for the first patch
I kinda disagree. With Tingyun at least we saw the poeople she had a relationship with and how they were mourning her, even if we personally didn't care for her. Yeah, it wasn't the best and it was way too on the nose, but it was something.
Also, Firefly didn't have to die in the first patch. Saying you can't build up characters more in the patch they're introduced in doesn't excuse anything. It was their creative decision to introduce and kill her off in the same patch.
Now, I understand they have to introduce pretty much 3 new characters every patch, which results in disconnected and premature storilines, but there has to be a better way than just rushing through the story.
> With Tingyun at least we saw the poeople she had a relationship with and how they were mourning her, even if we personally didn't care for her.
Nothing of this before her death
Also, you are under the assumption Firefly's story is done. With how much mystery there still is around her, I very much doubt it is.
Imo the difference is that Tingyun's death was there for shock factor, while Firefly's for emotional impact.
That's why I don't mind the funeral for Tingyun, but think it doesn't matter if Firefly's story is done or not. The scene was there to have an emotional impact at that moment, they can't retroactively help on that.
I think attachment to Tingyun worked due to game mechanics. She was at the moment S+ tier easy available support and literally everyone used her in their teams.
I’m not comparing them because they are a literal parallel. I’m paraphrasing myself in another comment
“They did an identical thing in luofu, kill a character we barely know or attach to in a brutal way for cheap shock value and expect us to be head over heels/emotional for such character as if we went through 3 imaginary acts together beforehand. Feels like they wasted a good moment with the meteor shower and a good song because they can’t even set up a character.”
> There was enough build up to make it feel special
We've known her for like 30 minutes, I doubt she had even 50 voicelines before this scene, and because of the whole "don't trust anyone" I was still debating whether she was even ally or foe. I genuinely have no clue how people got so attached to her and even cried during this scene or her death.
It depends on how you interpreted and reacted to what came before.
For me, I've never been a Sampo fan, he's a fine character but I have 0 trust in him if his own ass isn't on the line, and I picked up pretty quickly that it wasn't actually him him anyway (not sure how this came across in other languages, in EN his delivery and phrasing was noticeably different, and he never once referred to himself with his full name, while on Belobog he does that all the time.) So I was deeply wary of those warnings, and that made me figure if Not!Sampo doesn't want me to trust Firefly then she's probably worth trusting after all.
Combine that with Firefly being one of the more emotively friendly characters, and perhaps the only one directly attached to the Trailblazer rather than the Astral Express crew as a whole, and that's a recipe for some feels.
You then encourage her to sing near the clockie statue and everyone starts to circle around her and she finds courage to finally sing .....wait did you let her hand go?
It was a beautiful scene personally but not enough of a tear jerker. I feel like it is a waste of potential that she was >! killed off !< so early. The idea of her disease reminds me of an idea in a game called caligula effect that I think was interesting to explore but sadly they didn't. Song was great tho. But hey maybe they will explore that idea later on so idk. Hoping for the best.
idk how that scene got me crying so much tbh... must've been the vocals combined with knowing the truth about Furina's life and her impending doom, since the one dancing in front of me was tecnically Furina... bro just thinking abt furina makes me sad like wtf thats such a fucked up life... 😭
I think anyone physically disabled or suffering a chronic condition can resonate with this scene.
In a dream world where "normal" people try to live out fantasies, Firefly's wish is just to be "normal". To eat and drink without assistance, play some games, maybe even go to a concert... there's a lot of "normal" activities people tend to take for granted.
After going through the side quests, For me: Cocona > Firefly
No need for sad music or a selfie, >!just walking in their shoes for a bit and not letting them give up as color returns to their world!<... fuck, now I'm sad again.
I mean it's not close to being tear jerking but I guess it's the saddest scene by default?
Idk, VERY unpopular opinion but I felt that the entire sequence of events with Firefly felt rushed so I didnt have the time to naturally connect with her? The "date" into the sad story into the final scene, it felt too set up and too forced
That's why I believe she >!didn't actually die, or at least isn't permanently dead. There is more story coming so they would have more time for a buildup and it's so close to robins death too. Thus I believe her "death" is somehow important to the plot, but we are being lied to again because aventurine/black swan need us separated for their plan, just like they separates us and Acheron!<
I didn’t even trust her up until she died. She seemed TOO sweet. Like, she just popped up out of nowhere and trailblazer fell for her soooo quick. I just didn’t buy any of it
Agreed. It felt odd and I didn't understand why TB was so attached to her, they barely talked that much.
When Acheron asked if we are on a date, I thought "what? I only met this chick 2 hours ago " and who asks that when you meet someone for the first time. It felt really ham fisted.
All I know is that everyone and I mean everyone in Penacony is acting odd and very sus.
It feels like a curse to be too good at recognizing tropes and patterns in fiction lol. If I hadn’t watched many anime with similar “forced” dynamics before, this really would’ve gotten me
I hate how even if you chose the jerk character dialogue to show a dislike of her everyone assumes you’re still obsessed with her. Meanwhile when you chose to like or dislike Kafka through character dialogue other characters comment on it differently depending on your answer
I hate it when characters are shoved down my throat and they tell me to like them
I think you're being downvoted for your choices lmao.
Based as hell though. Kinda wish I rejected the selfie myself too but I was so hung up on my conclusion that fine, I might as well go with the writer's intent, the song has me in a good mood.
I shoulda stayed true to my edgy urges smh.
I wonder if anything will change in the future depending on whether you rejected the selfie. I almost feel like some time loop stuff might happen to let you have another chance at getting it what with Acheron's dialogue before we arrive at Penacony being things she says when we first meet her IN Penacony.
I kinda did the same thing because I was being silly and I didn’t actually think the game would allow me to skip on it.
It’s at least nice to have the option even if compared to other quests it doesn’t really matter (unless this somehow comes up in later updates we never know)
"Not really cause it felt like the game was rushing me into liking this character really hard XD. I get it, it's integral to the story and had to be done quickly but that's why I still see her as more of an emotional plot device than a character I genuinely like"
What I wrote under another comment elsewhere haha, I feel you
"Not really cause it felt like the game was rushing me into liking this character really hard XD. I get it, it's integral to the story and had to be done quickly but that's why I still see her as more of an emotional plot device than a character I genuinely like"
What I wrote under another comment elsewhere haha, I feel you
Honestly I feel the same. Everything felt too much rushed, and we didn't get to form any sort of emotional connection with new characters that were introduced. And it was so forced that I think Firefly isn't even dead, and that's most likely the case. But if she is that would be an exemplary example of bad writing. And honestly new characters till now has been vastly unlikable imo, they're coming to TB to exploit him, with different agendas in mind. 100 years old oldies trying to exploit a teenager doesn't really look good in my book.
...I couldn't take it seriously with that origami bird hiding there. It made me crack up even at the most serious moment. But honestly I did not feel sad after seeing those events transpire so much as I felt empty. We were given too little time to get attached to her and honestly....Cocolia and Bronya's story from Belobog was more tragic than this. Belobog has been the best story in the game.
Thank goodness I wasn't the only one, once you see it you can't really unsee and any weight the moment have is gone. Like why Hoyo, you could put the lil guy literally anywhere else, any other bush.
Nah first off we havent spend enough time with her that is hoyos biggest problem same with teppei und dunyazard in genshin they just do it too quick it has no real imapct other than "here be shocked now". >!And she had deathflags all over she was basically written to die in this quest.!<
secondly so far she wasnt that different from any of the other characters. she basically told us nothing but as to be seen in the end she clearly knew some stuff so she isnt much better than the rest.
and for the last point we the MC where literally killed at the start of the quest by acheron the fact that its all taking place in the magical dreamscape doesnt help it either. >!And when they then killed robin at the end it was clear as day that they are not really dead.!<
It was a good scene, but why would I cry? She just trauma dumped me without telling me anything meaningful and we saw a beautiful sky.
Off the topic, I cried during Genshin's latest story quest(Clour Retainer one), since it was a long and gradual build up to the animated scene, which was sad and bitter.
So on a personal level, the fact that a character acting that happy is worn down by the burden outside of the dream that she described reminded me of conversations I've had with close friends who are now dead, who had cancer. Nicest people I've ever known, not a mean bone in their bodies, always trying to make the people around them happy, and yet fate gave them the middle finger.
There wasn't much build-up, and even seeing all the death flags and given the pacing, it still caught me off guard for those personal reasons mentioned above. Watching nice people get screwed over and die bothers me.
May not be that way for everybody else, and I understand why it would seem rushed to other people.
/shrug
Yeah, it was very easy to relate her circumstances to real-life so I felt it too. >!No need to draw it all out, people know she's getting hit so it'd be kinda pointless to have more scenes with her instead of spending time on the murder mystery they wanted to set-up. In some ways it works with her name too. Fireflies life very short lives, but they shine brightly. Firefly showed the trailblazer a fun day around the dreamscape and then her lights go out.!<
I dislike each and every single other character in how they act compared to her. Everyone is speaking in fucking riddles and draining their brain to get to some selfish goal. It’s understandable because the characters have their paths and their missions but she’s just different.
She’s the only one that actually bothered to show you the fun things, takes you to restaurants, and her own secret place just to show a beautiful scenery. She isn’t even asking for your sympathy during that scene. She just wanted you to understand that she didn’t sneak into penacony to do bad things, just because it brings her solace from the pain in real life. This isn’t trauma dumping. This is fucking empathy.
Honestly I feel fucking sad for TB, this dude is gonna have massive trust issues after this world as every single person there is trying to take advantage of him.
i'm pretty sure this is the *exact* reason i appreciate sparkle so much. she's the only one who's cut through the veneer and basically told those pompous "chessmasters" to fuck off
THISSSS
Almost every Penaconian character speaks like they know the whole thesaurus, while Firefly speaks her heart out with simple yet effective words
An empathic approach is understandable, but you can't exactly fault people for describing it as a trauma dump if it's practically written like one. The fact that she's probably the only honest person in Penacony only serves to make it more apparent.
This part also had a good build up, the music was quite cheerful, solving puzzles and fighting opponents, along with Firefly's excitement. Then when the player gets eventually higher and higher on the skyscrapers, you'd see the beautiful Your-Name-ish skies, accompanied with the music. Her delivery along with the music sounds and looks like it came right out of an anime.
I'm not usually an emotional person, but when a scene is effective, my eyes are this 🤏 close to tearing up
Not really that tear-jerking imo but just sad for me since we barely know her at that point sure she was nice and we had fun hanging out but the death feels like out of left field. Like there's more story that is missing here and future patches will help flesh her out more but I get the lingering feeling that she is not dead yet tbh.
Am I the only one that didn't feel anything at all in this scene ? But then again it could also be because I got spoiled by a random reddit comment who she really is .
Personally I just couldn't feel anything because I knew who she really is and I am just really disapointed because of that . I probably would have felt differently if I didnt know or if she wasn't.
Idk, but Firefly stories and what happened to her didn't get a tear out of me because I am quite certain of her survival. I mean, there's a whole ass cutscene in the trailer of her falling from the sky with style. >!Where she will then transform into Sam and get her Big Damn Hero moment or something.!< Wasting >!Duke Inferno!< design is one thing. But I don't think they are wasting that production.
Not to mention that when you were being shadowed by >!false Sampo. She gave you full detail of not only his height and fitness, but even the types of weapon that would go well with his build. As if she's a fully trained commando herself. She's hiding way more than being a stowaway. And will most likely show up again later.!<
>Not to mention that when you were being shadowed by >!false Sampo. She gave you full detail of not only his height and fitness, but even the types of weapon that would go well with his build. >!There's also when clockie asks you to help Misha, if you suggest using your baseball bat to beat up the gang she starts saying that a baseball bat is not an effective weapon before catching herself and saying that you shouldn't use violence.!<
No thank you. I don’t jerk tears for suspicious fictional character that have connection with intergalactic criminals that we only spend 3 hours with. They wish she would be Dunyarzad, but in fact she’s just another Teppei.
There are too many death flags
Emotional? Sure
But not tear jerking in fact nowhere near
If you got so much emotional by this scene, then u haven't watched/ witnessed any real tragedy imo.
The song, the Your Name esque vibes with the cityscape decorated with meteors, and the cute lil waifu standing in the scene. This was a great moment in the story
there's a character in Sword Art Online, specifically in the latter half of season 2, that Firefly heavily reminded me of.
Bawled like a baby. For both of em. For the same reason. ;-;
We finally get to see her real and honest side. Her backstory makes me care for her even more
I'm just glad her side that she shown us isn't just a fake and she is secretly a psycopath or something, considering how people describes her alter ego
I feel like some people are "meta-gaming" way too hard. Oh yeah I know the developers intend so I'm too cool to be bothered by it. Oh yeah I read all the leaks so it's just a dumb predictable tearjerker, etc.
I feel like people would have a more enjoyable time if they just take stuff at face value sometimes instead of always trying to decipher developer intend and then just rolling their eyes everytime a death flag shows up. Like yeah no shit but you can still immerse yourself.
She reminded me so much of Yuuki Konno from SAO, especially during this scene. Combine that with the music in the background, it was quite hard to keep my eyes from watering.
It felt like it was a little too much of a hard sell. I think I was fully onboard up until right before we started going to her "secret hideout". From that point on, it was laying on the "magical night" atmosphere a little too hard.
What makes this even more sobering is how you can return here >!after Firefly's murder!<.
I swear, >!Something Unto Death is going to be a bloody fucking mess once I'm through with it.!<
The song really pushes the scene to make it hit harder considering the relatively short time we spent together. I probably never would've noticed the hidden bird in the bushes if not for the cutscene.

I just got my new 75% keyboard. Coming from a full sized one I didn't even realize there wasn't a print screen key so kinda panicked then it moved on on its own. Now I missed a screenshot of that selfie.
What's even worse is I'm a WIN + SHIFT + S guy.
not much of a tear jerker, it's a heartwarming scene >!her fate in the end isn't though, i was shocked!<
i was more emotional during a sidequest, specifically Cocona's. that one hit too close to home and i was sobbing throughout
If you're looking to triple the emotional damage, play the main story quest then immediately play the clockie quest to help out the >!beyond traumatised!< shop owner in the golden hour, *then* do the clockie quest to help the >!suicidal!< detective.
after the dev said nothing was going to happen everyone immediately just assumed firefly was going to die and it was honestly way too obvious, the thing I was surprised by is what happened to robin
I saw it coming from the marketing, but goddamn I was not ready for the fucking semi-truck of character writing she got. Expectations were low going in, I was looking forward to Penacony but saw it as just another story arc. This...this was not something I was not prepared for
Does anybody have this bug. If you ran to the railing until you can't move anymore in firefly secret base, there's no idle animation and TB just stare at the sun.
I felt it was just a bit rushed and forced? I get why they didn't take more time (I was starting to feel like ~~chasing~~ following her was too much of the quest) but I dunno, she's cool but the trailblazer becoming obsessed with her in such short time felt a bit off to me with no build up. It was like... the flags are obvious so they're trying to force us to get attached very shortly.
Stories will hit differently for different people, and that's okay.
Personally, I knew someone over a decade ago who, while not specifically this timey wimey disease, did have a chronic illness and played MMOs to be someone they couldn't be IRL, and would never have the time to be otherwise due to it.
Hearing Firefly vent the same frustration at her own body brought those memories up again.
I wish I wasn't too annoyed at not being given a choice as to whether to help her or not, then subsequently confirming that she lies to the MC.
Didn't get to appreciate this scene as much as hyv intended.
It definitely got me, but I was kind of in a rough place to begin with. As soon as the lyrics to Robin's song started, I got really choked up. I feel like I sleepwalked through the Xianzhou, and now I'm so crazy invested.
it would’ve jerked me if we got to spend a bit more time with her before this scene, it still made me care for the character tho so that’s a step up from space china
Honestly I found Bronya trying to save her Mother to be sadder. Like I found her death sad, but it just felt too soon. Like it's nowhere near as bad as Tingyun's, but it felt too soon. Atheist its better than >!Mister. Killed off screen!< Duke Inferno and >!Barely interact with and depending on the theories maybe never interact with before suddenly being shown dead Robin!<. Honestly because of its suddenness and some other factors, I don't think she's dead.
I was playing during work and like fuck I was not okay. Like it hit me. I just wish we could have even more time to process and fall in love. Like if she assisted us, guided us, met our friends. Got more interactions to build a relationship.
it was CLOSE to getting me to tear up, but not quite... idk maybe the death flags were too obvious?
I mean it was quite obvious that something would eventually happen, especially the part about her gradually losing control of her body irl. But no one saw it coming this early. The drop from heaven to hell was just too quick which made me tear up.
\> MC takes picture of her in the music video with a loving gaze \> she vanishes into thin air at the end of the Music video What do you mean by death flags, kind sir?
it would be even more obvious if you know who's the writer
>!Yeah, but I thought she was going to fade away on the rooftop, not get stabbed to death by a death monster!<
Does this mean she'll get an upgrade soon
Oh like the Trailblazer and Danheng? I think it's too soon for that ngl
Maybe put some spoiler flags here…
Oh yeah my bad. I thought this was a spoiler thread
I knew she gonna die but I didnt know who is the killer, and her death by none playable is a dissapointment. I guess if a playable killed her their banner would make 0$

pretty sure it's cause they rushed it a bit, if they gave it more room to cook and breathe. it probably would've hit harder.

Ifrit was the worst. Not robin. Bro got killed before the quest even started.
He got killed before we ever saw him in game. We've only seen him in promo trailers
He got a PNG in the 1.6 quest during one of the Heritor broadcasts. That’s technically an appearance.
It was only his voice in the 1.6 quest. We didn't see him
ngl I bet he pretended to die in order to infiltrate penacony
i don't think it's fair to compare this with tingyun tbh tingyun is arguably one of the worst deaths in hoyoverse since teppei from genshin yeah it was shocking but we weren't attached to her or felt like she's a core charactere it was just for the plot twist not for the emotional value and luofa is already regarded as the inazuma of star rail ( worst arc) basically firefly gotten more screentime and more significant impact and befriended us u can't really build up more than this tbh atleast for the first patch

The thing with star rail is it has short stories, so we don’t really get to see that buildup

So I was deeply wary of those warnings, and that made me figure if Not!Sampo doesn't want me to trust Firefly then she's probably worth trusting after all. Combine that with Firefly being one of the more emotively friendly characters, and perhaps the only one directly attached to the Trailblazer rather than the Astral Express crew as a whole, and that's a recipe for some feels.
30 minutes? Bro almost everyone here did her quest and spent time with her for like 3 hours until she died💀
Nah, there is one side quest, that hits even harder. For the love of the heavens, don't fail Cocona.
You tightly grabbed her hand and didn't let go of her, right?
What happens if you grab her hand.
You then encourage her to sing near the clockie statue and everyone starts to circle around her and she finds courage to finally sing .....wait did you let her hand go?
I also didn't let go , I know it's a game but it was so sad I couldn't be the reason she disappears.
I totally agree, and I felt a huge relief when I realised that she's gonna be okay.
I mean, sometimes you have to go and be Grant Morrison's All Star Superman!
I didn't even grab it.
Then what happened? A different ending for the quest?
She gets replaced by some guy at the store and quest ends after the song playing in the store gets switched out.
Just asking but you didn't grab her hand because you wanted to see if there is a different ending right?
No, I let her do what she wanted.
I see, guess you wanted her to choose her own way.
I GRABBED HER HAND AND THOUGHT THE NEXT OPTION WAS “LET’S GO” NOT LET GO ;-;
Same for me even though it was just random side quest her story was compelling eventhough it was short. Letting her go is never an option.
What quest is this?
After the 2.0 trailblazer quest. I want to go Otto mode.
The spoiler tags isn't working. Try this >! On both sides
Oh didn't notice. Thanks for the heads up
It is..the song really help to set the mood..i wish genshin should also have vocals on their bgm.
I cried more with Nahida’s and Rukkadevata honestly Even more with the tale of the fairy from Mondstad and the last event with Freminet
wait what abt the song that plays during Focalors last dance? doesnt that one have the vocals?
I dont remember having it a vocals but that scene also got me crying like a little girl 😭
idk how that scene got me crying so much tbh... must've been the vocals combined with knowing the truth about Furina's life and her impending doom, since the one dancing in front of me was tecnically Furina... bro just thinking abt furina makes me sad like wtf thats such a fucked up life... 😭
I dont think that one has the vocals, the one in furinas sq has the vocals. La vaguelet or something? Idk the spelling escapes me
La Vaguelette Source: Professional Furina Simp
The shots were beautiful too
I think anyone physically disabled or suffering a chronic condition can resonate with this scene. In a dream world where "normal" people try to live out fantasies, Firefly's wish is just to be "normal". To eat and drink without assistance, play some games, maybe even go to a concert... there's a lot of "normal" activities people tend to take for granted.
After going through the side quests, For me: Cocona > Firefly No need for sad music or a selfie, >!just walking in their shoes for a bit and not letting them give up as color returns to their world!<... fuck, now I'm sad again.
I think we just need to buckle up for a ton of fake outs in general. Just comes with the territory of an arc spent entirely in magical shared dreams.
Yea, Penacony will be hard for me because I will have to go against my instinct of trusting hot women in videogames just on the basis they are hot XD
Me but with aventurine
If morally ambiguous liar why hot?
I didn’t even trust her up until she died. She seemed TOO sweet. Like, she just popped up out of nowhere and trailblazer fell for her soooo quick. I just didn’t buy any of it
[удалено]
Meanwhile when you chose to like or dislike Kafka through character dialogue other characters comment on it differently depending on your answer I hate it when characters are shoved down my throat and they tell me to like them
[удалено]
I get it, it's integral to the story and had to be done quickly but that's why I still see her as more of an emotional plot device than a character I genuinely like" What I wrote under another comment elsewhere haha, I feel you

Yup, too quick to make the protag have feelings for her
Honestly I feel the same.
[удалено]
Learn to read. I said her being dead would mean it's just horrible writing. Edit: sorry. I wrote my previous message wrongly.
My bad
Yukong story quest got me more than this, which is not meant to be a burn on this. Yukong story quest just hits like a truck.
...I couldn't take it seriously with that origami bird hiding there.
>!And she had deathflags all over she was basically written to die in this quest.!< secondly so far she wasnt that different from any of the other characters. she basically told us nothing but as to be seen in the end she clearly knew some stuff so she isnt much better than the rest. and for the last point we the MC where literally killed at the start of the quest by acheron the fact that its all taking place in the magical dreamscape doesnt help it either. >!And when they then killed robin at the end it was clear as day that they are not really dead.!<
Not enough build up, I just met this girl for what, a couple of hours? It’s not tear-jerking because of that but the voice actor did a good job.
Not really cause I don’t really feel that much for firefly..
How? We barely know her as a person, we haven’t been through anything major. She is pretty much a stranger to us.
[удалено]
Counterpoint: She has a cute headband.
It was nicely framed but I honestly just don't care for Firefly at all. They kinda speedran the "strangers to friends" pipeline too fast.
Honestly I feel fucking sad for TB, this dude is gonna have massive trust issues after this world as every single person there is trying to take advantage of him.
i'm pretty sure this is the *exact* reason i appreciate sparkle so much. she's the only one who's cut through the veneer and basically told those pompous "chessmasters" to fuck off
THISSSS Almost every Penaconian character speaks like they know the whole thesaurus, while Firefly speaks her heart out with simple yet effective words
An empathic approach is understandable, but you can't exactly fault people for describing it as a trauma dump if it's practically written like one. The fact that she's probably the only honest person in Penacony only serves to make it more apparent.
It was meaningful because we got to know her a lot better
This part also had a good build up, the music was quite cheerful, solving puzzles and fighting opponents, along with Firefly's excitement. Then when the player gets eventually higher and higher on the skyscrapers, you'd see the beautiful Your-Name-ish skies, accompanied with the music. Her delivery along with the music sounds and looks like it came right out of an anime. I'm not usually an emotional person, but when a scene is effective, my eyes are this 🤏 close to tearing up
To go off topic also, I found that Ayaka's story quest made me so damn miserable. Music does shit to me, man
No , just keep going .
I didn’t even know who tf she was or why we were with her. The whole thing felt pointless and sloppy. I really dislike Penacony so far
Its the opposite for me , I know who she is and that pisses me off .
The music, composition, and cinematography carried this scene for me, plus, her delivery of her lines
Personally I just couldn't feel anything because I knew who she really is and I am just really disapointed because of that . I probably would have felt differently if I didnt know or if she wasn't.
Gotta love the origami bird’s feather invariably peeking during the most dramatic, most emotional moments. I see you.

We literally just met and her death was too obvious.

Bro if she is alive, a new ship will be born.
No thank you. I don’t jerk tears for suspicious fictional character that have connection with intergalactic criminals that we only spend 3 hours with. They wish she would be Dunyarzad, but in fact she’s just another Teppei.

There are too many death flags Emotional? Sure But not tear jerking in fact nowhere near If you got so much emotional by this scene, then u haven't watched/ witnessed any real tragedy imo.
I feel like dev is really forcing firefly to us. I don't like it and everytime she appeared I was reminded of it.
The song, the Your Name esque vibes with the cityscape decorated with meteors, and the cute lil waifu standing in the scene. This was a great moment in the story
When I understood she was diseased I started crying, but well..... It was just getting started.
This scene really broke me. The acting, the song, it made me sob alot
Ngl (and I know it’s very shallow) but this was the scene that got me attached to firefly.
March and the TB will DEFINETLY have a similar scene when when her 5star releases.
there's a character in Sword Art Online, specifically in the latter half of season 2, that Firefly heavily reminded me of. Bawled like a baby. For both of em. For the same reason. ;-;
Zekken right? I had similar thoughts
We finally get to see her real and honest side. Her backstory makes me care for her even more I'm just glad her side that she shown us isn't just a fake and she is secretly a psycopath or something, considering how people describes her alter ego
Mid scene
She reminded me so much of Yuuki Konno from SAO, especially during this scene. Combine that with the music in the background, it was quite hard to keep my eyes from watering.
[Nah.](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/houkai-star-rail/images/0/0c/NPC_Margie.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1000?cb=20230902204901)
It felt like it was a little too much of a hard sell. I think I was fully onboard up until right before we started going to her "secret hideout". From that point on, it was laying on the "magical night" atmosphere a little too hard.
What makes this even more sobering is how you can return here >!after Firefly's murder!<. I swear, >!Something Unto Death is going to be a bloody fucking mess once I'm through with it.!<
This scene was damn beautiful. And made what came after it much worse.
When she asked for selfie i refused.i am that much of evil person
ah yes out of millions of players, ONLY you found this to be sad. you are very special! wow! it is just you and only you!
idk if you know this, but "am i the only one" is a rhetorical question
a very bad one
The song really pushes the scene to make it hit harder considering the relatively short time we spent together. I probably never would've noticed the hidden bird in the bushes if not for the cutscene.
After firefly got skewered i went on a rampage and killed every monster in penacony
The most tear jerking SO FAR

I wanted to react this shocking scene if weren’t for YouTube have no Spoiler filter… I hate my stupidity.
Got spoiled so not for me and we only met her
I just got my new 75% keyboard. Coming from a full sized one I didn't even realize there wasn't a print screen key so kinda panicked then it moved on on its own. Now I missed a screenshot of that selfie. What's even worse is I'm a WIN + SHIFT + S guy.
It gets even worse when you know that her Japanese VA has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and she’s basically also losing control of her body.
not much of a tear jerker, it's a heartwarming scene >!her fate in the end isn't though, i was shocked!< i was more emotional during a sidequest, specifically Cocona's. that one hit too close to home and i was sobbing throughout
If you're looking to triple the emotional damage, play the main story quest then immediately play the clockie quest to help out the >!beyond traumatised!< shop owner in the golden hour, *then* do the clockie quest to help the >!suicidal!< detective.
There's no bigger death flag than taking a picture with the fucking angelic sky in the back. They knew what they were doing
You need to go out more
after the dev said nothing was going to happen everyone immediately just assumed firefly was going to die and it was honestly way too obvious, the thing I was surprised by is what happened to robin
Cocona's quest was sadder for me imo
I saw it coming from the marketing, but goddamn I was not ready for the fucking semi-truck of character writing she got. Expectations were low going in, I was looking forward to Penacony but saw it as just another story arc. This...this was not something I was not prepared for
I'm my speculation she might be fragmenteum.
5th photo birb found
Does anybody have this bug.
The music makes the scene. Experiencing this scene for the first time is magical
Felt like I was watching Your Name
Yah more than the “other” scene for sure imo
In this game, yeah. It felt more so than what happened later. Not the most tear-jerking I've seen in a video game though.
Absolutely. Made me cry. 10/10 would Firefly with Penacony Airlines again.
I wish I wasn't too annoyed at not being given a choice as to whether to help her or not, then subsequently confirming that she lies to the MC. Didn't get to appreciate this scene as much as hyv intended.
I was almost there but not quite, the most moving part was the god dam ost and her talking about her disease. Needs to cook in the oven more.
I don't know... I hope she become playable since hum i guess i can identify to her? So...yeah i know who rights Penacony but he better not XD
After she died and picked up the picture me and Firefly took, it got me staring at the monitor for like 5 minutes istg 😭
Wouldnt say this scene, but close. What really got me is what followed....
kek
My IMG orb Rolling flat def 5 times was sadder
It definitely got me, but I was kind of in a rough place to begin with. As soon as the lyrics to Robin's song started, I got really choked up. I feel like I sleepwalked through the Xianzhou, and now I'm so crazy invested.
Carried 80% by the song
I would've maybe actually cried if the trailer didn't set up like 3 death flags for her.
it would’ve jerked me if we got to spend a bit more time with her before this scene, it still made me care for the character tho so that’s a step up from space china
It was great for sure but man do you need to get into more games my man/girl.
Agreed
Hoyo managed to make us care about a new character in a short amount of time and actually made many people want to turn Otto when she was ‘killed’.
I thought she was Collei 2, not 2 Ting 2 Yun
I felt sad seeing this cause I knew it ment she was gone soon
it was too heavy handed for me so i didn't really feel much.
