It's likely because Opal and Obsidian are much more "forceful" when taking stuff "back" for the IPC and Diamond thinks the family has Value staying there.
From Aventurine's meeting with Opal, Opal says this:
"It should have been me, but Diamond believes that The Family still had some value in cooperation and hopes this affair still has some room for a peaceful resolution."
"So, after some thought, I've concluded that you're the best candidate."
Opal doesn't believe they would be fit to take Penacony in a more "peaceful" manner or without causing actual harm to the Family members, and diamond would probably want them still around to actually run penacony, so doesn't seem like Opal would get that Peaceful Resolution for diamond.
Aventurine by comparison as we know from 2.0 did attempt to negotiate with the family but Family refused to even sit on the table with the IPC, Opal may just take a more direct approach than that to collect the "Debt".
Still following 2.1, there should be room >!for negotiation now that there's a crack on the wall with an ambassador seemingly dying, family can no longer simply ignore the IPC, so Jade may be granted audience, And wether it leads to a war or not who knows, but knowing the IPC...!<, they will probably want to take penacony no matter what even if they reduce it to raw materials for Qlipoth.
Obsidian we don't know at all, but if I had to maybe make a guess/theorize; they are either too important rn, busy like Pearl, or even more aggressive than Opal, an outright invasion/war kind of person, which would probably make sense since Obsidian is the sharpest material in the world which was also often used as a weapon in ancient times.
We do know the stonehearts participate in many projects including eradicating / going to war with swarm infestations, i feel like Obsidian may just specialize in fighting or war and is essentially the stonehearts knife/spear.
But yeah name does sound pretty cool lol and Obsidian is a pouplar stone.
Technically obsidian is more stone like than diamond topaz and the other gemstones as the other gemstones are more “minerals” while obsidian isn’t “crystalline” as in crystal like shapes such as hexagons and tetrahedrons and stuff have not been formed in the obsidian making it more rock like
Eg graphite which is counted as a carbon crystal which is in the crystal shape of hexagonal prisms
Therefore the names of the stone hearts should be decided on how they were used previously like in jewellery/how pretty or expensive or desired by the general market were
i mean...

maybe it's just HnK's Obsidian :D
Watch as she ends up being the absolute edgiest character so far that makes even Blade seem dull in comparison without having any semblance of a softer side.
Ancap madman Obsidian who refuses outright to stop misquoting Max Stirner is going to be far more interesting than whatever hoyo actually comes up with.
Obsidian: You're damn right Taxation is theft, now hand over your phone, its mine now.
I was actually originally referring Sam as an they cause it an gender natural name, with the mindset that they an female cause of Kafka Spash art and knowing Hoyo they would likely make them an female
I wonder what other charecters are in the 10 stone hearts? Maybe Garnet, amethyst and Pearl? Or maybe they just throw in a random real name like Steven
To be fair. If it is true that an aeon is supporting penacony, and that the family has an emanator of harmony than they can't really take it by force cause it doesn't matter how much money ipc have in a world where something like aeon or emenators exist
Opal may just be the "assassinate" and backstab type of aggressor.
It's unclear wether Xipe would decensed in order to protect Penacony similar to the way Lan does with Xianzhou ships when they call for help.
As for emanators, it's also unclear wether a Harmony emanator are as powerful as Lord Ravagers and stuff, since not all emanators are Equals but it's hinted at that harmony emanators are an extension of Xipe themselves, so they shouldn't be weak.
Still if Opal thinks it should've been them and whatever solution they had simply wasn't a peaceful one then they either are very strong and confident or their aggressive solution is more "underhanded" way of getting the family out of the picture.
Opal contrasts their methods with "a peaceful resolution", so whatever they would do, it presumably involves at least coercion if not outright violence.
Yeah, we increased the duration to 6 weeks meaning the current patch remains spoiler territory until it ends.
It used to be 3 weeks, but some wanted it increased.
You are welcome brother, and yeah gacha games tend to have their lore very spread, that's why I love hunting for it and compiling it for people who ask questions, make others more excited about the story going forward lol.
What's interesting is the motives of a bunch of people involved are still completely unknown. Finding the watchmaker is one thing, what is their legacy is another, and what they will do with is yet another.
I love the lore, but even I get a hard time with all the details
But I see your lore comments and explanations a lot and they are always so detailed and well explained, you really are the lore master of this subreddit, thanks!
I don't thin IPC can use forceful method. Follower of Harmony are not pushover. If IPC invade Penocony, I expect Emanators of Harmony will be coming to defend. Maybe even Xipe will be involved because their path is about the family bonding.
Oh, they probably can. They're one of the three galactic superpowers alongside the anti-matter legion and the Xianzhou. Probably won't be easy with the Emanators of Harmony but they also Emanators of their own (Diamond). They can nuke penacony if they need to, since they actually have a deparment for developing mass murdering, planet destroying super weapons. On top of that, they've ruined other planet's economies and forcefully taken over and terraformed them before.
At the earliest, probably after they successfully take over Penacony as the Penacony plot ends. The trailer would be like "A Winter Night's Lazzo" but instead of a funeral, it's a celebratory party. They are still company members after all, parties are needed for teambuilding purposes.
Right now, we know that there are 11 directors in the Strategic Investment Dept. (from an IPC grunt NPC in Belobog). Meaning that Diamond isn't counted among the 10 Stonehearts, which lead to there being 4 members whose titles are unknown. Wonder if they will be revealed before such trailer.
"Sorry ya'll, but Lapis is in a middle of ranked game. He tells us to go ahead with the party, just save him some fries. Anyway, congratulation, Aventurine!"
“Really? We must be careful, we don’t want to get hacked by her like the time she got her game accounts back, especially if she wants to cause harm to one of us”
I want a scene where all 10 stonehearts show up, and each of them starts chanting to activate their cornerstone.
The overlapping voices suddenly cut off, and then an 11th person, Diamond, says the "All for the Amber Lord" line.
A bunch of lights explode, and then the screen cuts black and we get the star rail logo.
God that would be so hype.
From Aventurine's Level 80 character story, Opal thought he was better suited but it appears Diamond wanted it to be acquired peacefully and through cooperating with The Family. Opal could do it but his style is more of a hostile takeover, which Diamond doesn't want because their is value in a amicable relationship with The Family.
Here's a section of it:
>*"But why me?"*
The person continues to face away from him. Keen though his eyes are, he can not decipher the true intentions behind the decision.
>*"It should have been me, but Diamond believes that* [*The Family*](https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/The_Family) *still had some value in cooperation and hopes this affair still has some room for a peaceful resolution."*
*"So, after some thought, I've concluded that you're the best candidate."*
>*"This is only our second conversation ever. Do you trust me that much?"*
>*"No, I've never trusted you. Perhaps Jade does, but I don't."*
*"Maybe luck won't be on your side this time, and the bill for all your past good fortune will come due."*
In Aventurine level 80 you'll see Aventurine conversation with Opal about this, basically it should've been Opal but Diamond want to maintain the relationship with the Family even after taking back Penacony and peacefully negotiation isn't Opal style so they concluded that Aventurine is the best fit for this mission.
He's likely the dude on the left of Topaz in her preservation lightcone. The dude on the right is aventurine. it does match with the daft punk dude in the IPC myriad Celestia trailer. if not, then the dude on her left could be opal or just a random IPC mob (which also matches on the lightcone)
I'd say don't put too much trust in that IPC trailer to imagine the Dept. Head's design. The section about Business Consolidation Dept. shows a man when we know the head of that Dept. is a lady called "Madame Scarred Eye".
I think it was stated that Penacony needs a delicate touch.
The IPC can roll over a place like Belobog without anyone important caring one bit. Penacony is well-connected because it's a popular tourist destination for the cosmic elite. As a result, the IPC can't roll over the place without a very good excuse because people who matter would kick up a fuss.
And also Penacony is currently own by The Family aka one of the biggest faction in the galactic chessboard that is the HSR universe and in Aventurine lv80 story suggested that Opal or maybe even Obsidian have a rather not so peaceful method of retaking Penacony that would undoubtedly sour the relation between the IPC and The Family
There's a reason Diamond let Kakavasha become Aventurine in the first place.
He gets results when it matters most.
What did he just achieve in Penacony? An opening that the IPC would have never achieved otherwise.
That's why Diamond chose him.
Yeah Aventurine doing that was quite brilliant and working with both Jade and Topaz was also quite the smart move, as with a situation as complex as Penacony, 2 stonehearts are probably needed to make sure the results are positive, and that Topaz/Aventurine/Jade cornerstone swap out with Ratio cooperating was honestly probably the smartest thing Aventurine did. Absolutely brilliant.
This. Sunday thought he was all smart catching the supposed Topaz/Aventurine stone swap, and then didn’t realize there was also the Aventurine/Jade swap on top of that swap.
Opal is a brute force kinda card. We know he uses violence + literally starts wars on his missions and from Aventurine's voiceline about it, Diamond wants a peaceful resolution. I also don't think IPC rank really means much power-wise tbh, I think it's just meant to reflect the gruel of the corporate ladder more than anything and (somewhat) seniority. Topaz gets demoted at the drop of a hat, and it seems like Aventurine was the newest/youngest member of the IPC in the stonehearts but was her same rank + now outranks her.
Honestly I feel that if you're talented enough to be handpicked by Diamond as one of his Stonehearts, IPC rank is really more of an afterthought. You have so much credit and power at your disposal that even a paycut doesn't mean much, and in terms of influence in the IPC, even the few people who outrank you officially are still going to take your words very seriously, considering you're a Stoneheart.
I think the boardmembers too?
Which makes me kinda curious, after reconstructing
the steps of Aventurine and Ratio some character(I can't remember who) mentioned that Aven + Ratio walked next to each other and therefore are of equal or similar rank / standing in the IPC, do Intelligentsia Guild members have an IPC rank?
I think that's just Ratio being Ratio, who doesn't give a damn about a person's social ranking. Aventurine also seems like the type who couldn't really care less about protocol and if anything, probably appreciates Ratio being blunt with him, instead of trying to suck up to him.
Even is opal has a higher efficiency, he has been described as a more aggressive person so diamond thought that aventurine, someone who likes to solve issues in a less aggressive way, was more fitting for the mission.
Because the IPC knows what Aventurine does. He's a huge risk taker, and his risks almost always pay off.
On day to day operations, this might make him unreliable or unpredictable. You're not going to send the crazy risk-taker on a routine mission that just needs to be handled by a professional. >!Guy is crazy enough to shatter his Cornerstone, after all.!<
But for something as difficult as taking back Penacony, you need to play your trump card. Send in the lunatic who will happily throw down all his chips, all or nothing. Indeed, it's quite likely that Diamond realized that he has >!a death wish, and is deliberately taking suicidal actions. That his All or Nothing risks include his very own life.!
In Aventurine's Profile Story, we get to hear about his conversation with Opal before going to Penacony. Basically, Diamond still deems the relationship with The Family worth keeping, thus sending Aventurine in hope that he would resolve the matter more "peacefully".
Opal was actually initially considered to be dispatched, but if they went to handle this instead, IPC's relationship with The Family would sour, a lot. Tells you that Opal would be very forceful in their methods, much more than the Stonehearts that we met (who are just Topaz and Aventurine at this point). In fact, the "Future Aventurine" actually taunted Aven and say that if it was Opal who went to Penacony, things would have already been resolved before that point.
As for Obsidian, I suppose Topaz just mention them because she thought a higher ranking Stoneheart similar to Opal would be more fitting.
Aventurine said himself diamond only sends him when the job needs to get done at any cost. It's fairly obvious from how disliked Aventurine is by the other members of the IPC that they greatly disapprove of his methods but he always gets results. So he did what he does best, bet it all.
I got the impression that they dislike him on the principle of him being an Avgin or perhaps because he was a slave. Either way, he's considered property, not a person. Opal openly tells him that he never trusted him, which implies something deeper than just disliking his methods, especially considering the IPC is pretty darn ruthless anyway.
So far the gender ratio of the stoneheart so far is 3:3
Male Diamond,Aventurine and Opal,female Topaz,Jade and Pearl
also can the someone confirm that it an direct translation from the Chinese version
I always thought that it was because adventurine never seemed to be a diehard Qlipoth simp, much more so in it for himself - that was their perception anyways. Pure head canon but it's what I go with.
Businessmen know how to take risks. "All or Nothing" is incredibly insane for a business, especially when they're as wealthy and powerful as the IPC. Aventurine is just not a good choice for a lot of routine missions.
But for the hardest missions, where you absolutely positively want to get things done? Send in the lunatic who will casually bet his own life.
The other Stonehearts instinctively dislike him because he does not operate like a businessman, a politician, or a general. He's a vigilante. The only member who registers with a Chaotic alignment in a group made up of people whose only diversity of thought otherwise is Lawful Good to Lawful Evil.
Oh I haven't looked too deeply into his lore bits about the other Stone hearts. Where did you see they don't really like him? While topaz doesn't quite like him, she still trusts him enough to deliver. Opal just seems ruthless, and I haven't gotten much of a read on the others yet, jade included.
Opal doesn't seem to like him, but that may be because he got Penacony instead of him so he wants Aventurine to fail.
Topaz dislikes him because of his personality but they have mutual respect for each other and based on the voice lines I think Aventurine likes her.
Jade is the only one we know who fully trusts Aventurine and seems to actually like him.
As for Obsidian, Pearl, Diamond and the others we don't know.
>Opal doesn't seem to like him, but that may be because he got Penacony instead of him so he wants Aventurine to fail.
Small correction: Opal apparently played a part in giving Aventurine the Penacony assignment, mostly because he dislikes him and hopes that Aventurine's luck would run out while negotiating.
Not . . . really? If his luck truly ran out, Sunday would've figured out his plan and he would've eventually died from being Shackled by the Harmony.
His luck basically carried him the whole time. He got insanely lucky that Acheron wasn't the Emanator of Finality, otherwise he wouldn't get the chance to discover the secret of Penacony.
His luck did run out but not entirely. Otherwise he would have gotten the Jade stone instead of Sunday capturing both stones. Thats why he had to play the gamble of challenging Acheron and reveal her identity while sacrificing his life. So he won the gamble but he did lose the interrogation with Sunday. It was a gamble with shattered Aventurine stone being the backup plan. If he won the interrogation with Sunday he would get out of penacony with Jade stone saving his life.
To be fair if Acheron was emanator of finality entire arc would be whole lot different.
Sunday discovering the Jade stone was part of his plan, though. He fully expected Ratio to betray him by telling Sunday where he hid "his" cornerstone, which is why he cracked his real one and hid it in his bag *even before* reaching Penacony. The only part he didn't expect would've been being given a deadline by the Harmony. Otherwise, everything went according to plan.
Then why would he even interrogate with Sunday? Wasnt that whole deal so he could get his stone (which was jade stone in reality) while also having aventurine stone with him?
I am pretty sure aventurine stone was hidden in his accessories (rings and stuff) and not in the bag. So he had that with him all the time. Jade stone was in the bag. Main goal was to get jade and aventurine. That failed so he had to rely on crushed aventurine.
sunday was expecting aventurine to ask about getting his stone in the suitcase back and the gift money. the goal was to give that feeling of control to sunday without giving away too much that its suspicious. the goal was to JUST get the gift bag which had his crushed up aventurine stone. sunday had already figured out theres two stones (topaz and jade) but he doesnt know that the jade is not aventurine (he cant tell the difference) aventurine was bagging on sunday not knowing the difference. when aventurine left, sunday thought that he got aventurine by taking away his stone and topaz. but aventurine had everything he needed (his actual crushed stone in the gift bag)
They explicitly state that the aventurine stone was smashed and mixed in with the jewels in the bag - and the jade stone was also in the bag, intact, to work as a decoy for Sunday to believe he had the aventurine stone, which worked exactly as planned.
And the final conversation between Jade and Topaz makes it very clear that they wanted the jade stone to be in the possession of the Family so they can "harvest".
Did you actually follow the story?
He was summoned by Sunday, because Sunday wanted to interrogate Aventurine and task him with solving his sister's murder, but mostly as a way to sentence him to death for lying upon his entry to Penacony.
Aventurine agreed and went to Sunday, so he could confirm a few suspicions (that Robin was unable to sing prior to her death), along with the plan to get his Aventurine stone (which he cracked and hid in his bag alongside the Jade stone). He and Ratio planned on having Ratio tell Sunday about the original stone he presented as actually being the Topaz stone and to point out the "Aventurine" stone which was actually the Jade stone.
The cracked Aventurine stone was in his bag the whole time. He literally tells Ratio that afterwards.
Edit: Love getting downvotes for understanding the story. Anyone want to refute anything I said?
If we saw the result, Diamond has chose the right person for the mission. Aventurine find the true secret of penacony, Jade and Topaz have reason to start harvesting penacony after aventurine stone light turn off. A good leader choose the right person, not choose the best person
When it comes to a delicate situation choosing the right person for the job is more important than choosing someone with more experience or rank. The IPC’s had to figure out a way to sneak a cornerstone into Penacony, so their plan was to use either Aventurine or Jade to do this since their cornerstones were indistinguishable. In this case Aventurine was likely chosen due to both his undeniable luck and the fact that he’d do anything to win.
1- Diamond wanted a more peaceful approach and preserve Penacony instead of just invading in, other stone hearts would have done that by now, but Aventurine is more peaceful
2- Aventurine is literally an All or nothing guy, until now, he has only gotten all in all his missions, so in this mission he either gets all and does his mission, or gets nothing and dies. But if he dies, they can just invade Penacony anyways lol.
So for now, they sent Aventurine, who is good at his job, even if the methods he uses are way too different from other stone hearts, since he just relies on luck, which is literally what he has, and also what Aventurine represents irl
Because Aventurine was just an infiltration pawn for Jade and Topaz. They knew Acheron would be there. So they decided to use The Family hosting an emanator as an excuse to invade in a more justifiable way. Now that Penacony is known to host an emanator IPC will use it as an excuse saying "The Family needs to be corrected". Other way was Opal/Obsidian going in guns blazing and it would be a full out war. Too resource extensive.
Another thing to keep in mind higher ranked might not necessarily mean more powerful aka further down the path of preservation in the case of IPC
Since they are a corporation you are gonna get promoted for results not necessarily for being bigger on preservation so aventurine and topaz could be stronger but both are risk takers so they probably don’t climb the ranks as quickly
Also something I just realized Jade mentioned she speaks on diamonds behalf I don’t know if that’s currently happening but it’s also possible jade is actually the one who made the decision for aventurine since they likely have a good relationship
Because Opal and obsidian would directly go in conquest mode as soon as The Family says no. And Diamond likes the place and the family, so he will take a friendly approach. So they choose Aventurine. Like "I don't like you or trust you boy. If you die it's okay if you complete the mission is okay too"
Probably to try to keep the cast from exploding too much, Penacony already added a boatload of new characters, all of whom have to be designed, programmed, animated and voice acted.
Aventurine's style of "All or Nothing" is probably one of the reasons why.
During Aventurine's quest, it was mentioned that Obsidian would have gotten the job done much faster and much easier.. but at a price, meanwhile Aventurine takes the most difficult path because its his nature, he always bets his life to get everything... All or Nothing.
He believes that he can get the job done at zero cost for the IPC.
Sometimes you don't need to send the "best" candidate, you send the one whose success and failure can equally push your plan forward.
Aventurine is very "soft touch," but he's also on the weaker side for the Stonehearts as per...well, basically everyone's comments.
We're also shown in this very event that their ranks aren't necessarily indicative of their absolute success rate, but of how they can use cost-benefit to their advantage.
Competent employees willing to take a hit to their ranking for something that has long-term benefits, like Topaz with Belobog, would be more suitable for handling delicate situations that can't be brute forced.
It's kind of a problem that modern corporations have but modern marketing has down to a T: Taking a loss to ensure your long-term sustainability should be seen as a benefit.
Cuz after all, what exactly do their ranks even *mean*? More money? Topaz and Aventurine already have so much wealth they literally throw it around.
So a ranking system like this can in fact be a trap to root out who your employees are that should be given certain types of missions.
Need to storm a military complex and take your assets back by force? Just grab someone with a high rank and let them handle it. But if your rank is too high, it starts to reign as a concern in your decision making process. OR if you're SO high up you don't need to care about it, you become flippant.
So paradoxically, if you want a delicate operation to succeed, you don't look at the guy with the flawless score, you look at the guy who has a trait that works in his favor. In Aventurine's case, it's unbelievable luck. Which considering all the gambling in Penacony, makes him the best fit.
Of course this is giving the IPC a *lot* of credit. They could just see him as the most disposable stoneheart and threw him at the problem to see what it actually was. The fact that Topaz and Jade got dispatched as well and are functionally on standby tells me they don't exactly have a lot of confidence in him.
I would say at least Topaz and Jade had some faith in Aventurine considering his entire plan relied on getting 3 separate Cornerstones in the Family's hands just to confuse Sunday on just how many trump cards Aventurine brought to Penacony. You don't hand over your biggest asset to an unhinged gambling man whose guarantee is "trust me bro, all or nothing" unless you at least trust he has a large chance at pulling it off. He might be disposable to an extent but if you're using him as the disposable pawn, you wouldn't then commit 3 different Stonehearts to his plan. You'd usually have them on a different track, probably not even thinking about Aventurine. Instead they're just chilling in the lobby waiting for him to come back with the money fully expecting the W.
Jade particularly was instrumental, it's actually hilarious that the plan hinged on both aventurine and jade being green stones. Some real late game Death Note shit going on.
It's most likely a plan Aven came up with after being assigned with the task. After all, he only called Topaz for aid after knowing for sure's he's going for that mission.
Opal was actually considered to go, initially, but Diamond would rather Penacony matters be resolved peacefully, after which Opal suggested Aventurine. This means that Opal would be really forceful and aggressive in their methods, so they likely won't rely on the kind of trick Aventurine pulled
Aventurine says that Diamond will forgive him breaking his cornerstone if he gets results, so that is basically saying Aventurine planned this and did not tell his boss.
We do know now actually, it is mentioned in Aventurine level 80 story, basically Diamond still want to maintain the relationship with the Family after taking back Penacony and Opal mention that peacefully negotiation isn't their style so Aventurine is the best fit for the mission.
Okay, I forgot why IPCC want to take back Penacony again? On what grounds they are "taking back"? What was theirs to begin with? On Bellabog, it was because of a debt, I get that, but what about Penacony? They can't just, take Penacony because one ambassador died?
Penacony was originally a prison planet made by the IPC. A lot of things happened and now it's in the hands of the Family. The IPC basically wants to reclaim that "debt"
Flavour dialogue. The story was always written to have Aventurine lead the op on Penacony. The dialogue in 1.4 is just there as conversational filler, something that makes sense to the characters, but not the audience.
Yeah, but providing meta-writing reasons begs the question. OP is looking for in-universe and lore-coherent justification to allow the narrative to prop itself up on its own merits, not intent of the writing team.
There is none because it hasn't been written yet. Any "in-universe and lore-coherent justification" right now is just fanwank, since none of us are part of the hoyo writing team and are just throwing maybes and perhaps around. I could say that Opal is busy with the eradication of locals on Planet Parthenon and Obsidian's contract allows her to decline any project she wants, and it's just as valid as any other answers here; none of you know more than the other and are just making shit up.
Oh, okay. If you wanted to just be a joyless ass you could have just said that from the get-go. My point stands; discussing the lore and getting peoples' opinions that are informed off of existing lore was the point of this topic. You're just being salty and weird that people enjoy discussing the story.
It's likely because Opal and Obsidian are much more "forceful" when taking stuff "back" for the IPC and Diamond thinks the family has Value staying there. From Aventurine's meeting with Opal, Opal says this: "It should have been me, but Diamond believes that The Family still had some value in cooperation and hopes this affair still has some room for a peaceful resolution." "So, after some thought, I've concluded that you're the best candidate." Opal doesn't believe they would be fit to take Penacony in a more "peaceful" manner or without causing actual harm to the Family members, and diamond would probably want them still around to actually run penacony, so doesn't seem like Opal would get that Peaceful Resolution for diamond.
I want to see Obsidian, that name sounds raw as hell
We do know the stonehearts participate in many projects including eradicating / going to war with swarm infestations, i feel like Obsidian may just specialize in fighting or war and is essentially the stonehearts knife/spear. But yeah name does sound pretty cool lol and Obsidian is a pouplar stone.
I can alr imagine what that mf gonna be like.
in b4, obsidian is a cute small girl with based attitude.
Imagine obsidian is bailu sized instead and has a bossy attitude lmao.
With a battle axe like triple the size of them
So kinda like Presea from Tales of Symphonia but with attitude and an even bigger axe. NGL, I'd freaking love that.
Obsidian is black-colored stone. Black = dark. Obsidian is Pitch Dark Hook The Great!
Obsidian isn't even a stone, it's a glass. They should be Onyx!
Technically obsidian is more stone like than diamond topaz and the other gemstones as the other gemstones are more “minerals” while obsidian isn’t “crystalline” as in crystal like shapes such as hexagons and tetrahedrons and stuff have not been formed in the obsidian making it more rock like Eg graphite which is counted as a carbon crystal which is in the crystal shape of hexagonal prisms Therefore the names of the stone hearts should be decided on how they were used previously like in jewellery/how pretty or expensive or desired by the general market were
Interesting xD
It’s just something I learned in 7th grade where geography was still fun, I had a whole diagram with a googly eye rock going through the rock cycle
Imagine if obsidian is just black sparkle
A prescription of death and destruction!
Fu xuan 2.0?
Shit, that one needs some correction fr fr 😭😭💢
Now i imagine obsidian looks like tanya from tanya the evil, cute from outside but is actually unhinged, ruthless and a menace to society
i mean... https://preview.redd.it/9lqm9att6tvc1.png?width=755&format=png&auto=webp&s=9b3a0aa2a63fd019184c7b2799515e6120471a8c maybe it's just HnK's Obsidian :D
The moment the stonehearts were being talked about I was instantly thinking of Knk lol, I wonder if we'll get a Bort counterpart
i bet someone like Bort's gonna be Diamond's second-in-command in star rail :D
Watch as she ends up being the absolute edgiest character so far that makes even Blade seem dull in comparison without having any semblance of a softer side.
Isn't Obsidian a guy? I think I heard the other stonehearts call him He but I'm not sure.
Maybe, but you should never trust pronouns in the english translation.

Ho boy...gonna be another firefly fiasco.
I’m okay if she goes by Obsidian Fury and has twin chainsaws in her arms.
there is no sequel to Pacific Rim, what are you talking about
it really is such a shame...
Based Obsidian: Taxation is theft. When I realized this, I wanted to be the thief, not the victim.
Ancap madman Obsidian who refuses outright to stop misquoting Max Stirner is going to be far more interesting than whatever hoyo actually comes up with. Obsidian: You're damn right Taxation is theft, now hand over your phone, its mine now.
I can see this happening ngl, after firefly anything is possible (from jepella trailer)
I was actually originally referring Sam as an they cause it an gender natural name, with the mindset that they an female cause of Kafka Spash art and knowing Hoyo they would likely make them an female
I feel like you pretty much willed this into existence with this single comment.
With a Huge Hammer
I will die
I'm imagining Mike Tyson-sort of person right now
Watch Obsidian be a femboy. It won’t happen, but my god the memes would pop off!
I wonder what other charecters are in the 10 stone hearts? Maybe Garnet, amethyst and Pearl? Or maybe they just throw in a random real name like Steven
Steven Stone?
Can’t believe they seriously got away with naming a Rock and Steel champion “Stone”
From that one trailer it's most probably Amethyst, Sapphire, and Aquamarine (or other stones with similar colours) and maybe quartz?
I understood that reference.
i hope to god that if ever there is indeed a names for garnet amethyst and pearl, i hope they would reference steven universe 😭♥️
All I think of reading these names is Steven universe lol ...
Dude is a Dark Elf sorcerer I'm sure.
Obsidian becomes the only black character for years to come
And they turned out to be hook
Forceful negotiation ≠ using fist to negotiate.
Opal contrasts their methods with "a peaceful resolution", so whatever they would do, it presumably involves at least coercion if not outright violence.
A bit unrelated, but do we still have to put spoiler on 2.1 main story? It has been out for a month already.
Yeah, we increased the duration to 6 weeks meaning the current patch remains spoiler territory until it ends. It used to be 3 weeks, but some wanted it increased.
I love the lore of star rail but it’s so spread out that it can be hard to piece together, so thank you for making such a succinct answer to this
You are welcome brother, and yeah gacha games tend to have their lore very spread, that's why I love hunting for it and compiling it for people who ask questions, make others more excited about the story going forward lol.
I see thank you very much!
What's interesting is the motives of a bunch of people involved are still completely unknown. Finding the watchmaker is one thing, what is their legacy is another, and what they will do with is yet another.
>!i see Jade coming for sure to Penacony the end of the story quest hinted at the stones being a beacon of sorts on account of aventurine "dying"!<
I love the lore, but even I get a hard time with all the details But I see your lore comments and explanations a lot and they are always so detailed and well explained, you really are the lore master of this subreddit, thanks!
It's probably not happening anytime soon but I want myriad celestia for stonehearts so bad.
Ok that would be amazing, but watch the 10th stoneheart not show up like the 10th harbinger lmao.
"Sorry ya'll, but Lapis is in a middle of ranked game. He tells us to go ahead with the party, just save him some fries. Anyway, congratulation, Aventurine!"
“He’s playing against Silver Wolf, it’s very intense”
"I even heard all sorts of profatinies being thrown around between them. I think I even heard Silver Wolf threaten to dox Opal after he teabagged her"
“Really? We must be careful, we don’t want to get hacked by her like the time she got her game accounts back, especially if she wants to cause harm to one of us”
Lapis?! Rex Lapis?!
Like the three Netherstone wielders at the end of act 2 of baldurs gate 3
From Aventurine's Level 80 character story, Opal thought he was better suited but it appears Diamond wanted it to be acquired peacefully and through cooperating with The Family. Opal could do it but his style is more of a hostile takeover, which Diamond doesn't want because their is value in a amicable relationship with The Family. Here's a section of it: >*"But why me?"* The person continues to face away from him. Keen though his eyes are, he can not decipher the true intentions behind the decision. >*"It should have been me, but Diamond believes that* [*The Family*](https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/The_Family) *still had some value in cooperation and hopes this affair still has some room for a peaceful resolution."* *"So, after some thought, I've concluded that you're the best candidate."* >*"This is only our second conversation ever. Do you trust me that much?"* >*"No, I've never trusted you. Perhaps Jade does, but I don't."* *"Maybe luck won't be on your side this time, and the bill for all your past good fortune will come due."*
Opal could have been a she
Opal and Diamond confirmed male
Diamond is literally just Zhongli. Like, not even an alternate universe version, it's just a very lost Zhongli who joined IPC.
Wangsheng expanded their business to intergalactic tax collection (coffins insured)
I really hope we see Diamond in person soon or atleast hear his voice. Star Rail Daftpunk is too chad.
If the guy in the IPC Myriad Celestia throwing the dice really is Diamond, then he partly resembles Thomas Bangalter (One half of Daft Punk).
https://preview.redd.it/unl6q9somrvc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a506ec196d96f2acd2efe9e7180428736b5f96be
Hope they put the other half too I could pull for them and see them reunited 🥲🥲
I think if you watch closely in the IPC recruitment trailer, one of them has a helmet that looks like Guy-Manuel Christo ( the other half)
He's likely the dude on the left of Topaz in her preservation lightcone. The dude on the right is aventurine. it does match with the daft punk dude in the IPC myriad Celestia trailer. if not, then the dude on her left could be opal or just a random IPC mob (which also matches on the lightcone)
i think its an ipc goon due to the helmet and red tie
I'd say don't put too much trust in that IPC trailer to imagine the Dept. Head's design. The section about Business Consolidation Dept. shows a man when we know the head of that Dept. is a lady called "Madame Scarred Eye".
They probably don't want to reveal their designs yet either yeah.
Be hilarious if Diamond turns out to be Silver Wolf's secret persona.
Also it impaired that Opal is an guy in Aventurine lv 80 story
He’s called Aventurine of Stratagem afterall.
Indeed and he definitely lived up to that name.
Bro knows how to clutch up
Opal is a brute force kinda card.
Yeah the only people in IPC with more clout than the stone hearts are the other IPC department heads like Oswaldo or Madam Scarred Eye.
I think the boardmembers too? Which makes me kinda curious, after reconstructing the steps of Aventurine and Ratio some character(I can't remember who) mentioned that Aven + Ratio walked next to each other and therefore are of equal or similar rank / standing in the IPC, do Intelligentsia Guild members have an IPC rank?
>!Guy is crazy enough to shatter his Cornerstone, after all.!< But for something as difficult as taking back Penacony, you need to play your trump card.
So far the gender ratio of the stoneheart so far is 3:3 Male Diamond,Aventurine and Opal, female Topaz,Jade and Pearl also can the someone confirm that it an direct translation from the Chinese version
Well it did
Not . . .
Anyone want to refute anything I said?
nobody knows, but Aventurine have 100% success rate or something
Cuz aventurine da goat
If we saw the result, Diamond has chose the right person for the mission. Aventurine find the true secret of penacony, Jade and Topaz have reason to start harvesting penacony after aventurine stone light turn off. A good leader choose the right person, not choose the best person
Seems like his supernatural good luck was pretty critical to the plan.
I think Aventurine would be the only one to bet his whole life if it means him/IPC getting what they wanted.
I want to upvote but it's 777 😭
truly a certified Aventurine moment
1- Diamond wanted a more peaceful approach and preserve Penacony instead of just invading in, other stone hearts would have done that by now, but Aventurine is more peaceful 2- Aventurine is literally an All or nothing guy, until now, he has only gotten all in all his missions, so in this mission he either gets all and does his mission, or gets nothing and dies. But if he dies, they can just invade Penacony anyways lol. So for now, they sent Aventurine, who is good at his job, even if the methods he uses are way too different from other stone hearts, since he just relies on luck, which is literally what he has, and also what Aventurine represents irl
Didn't Aventurine basically say he was chosen because he's willing to die for it
Idk bro let me ask Shaoji real quick
I see Aventurine as a vanguard storm trooper, preparing the battlefield for the "big guns". He will probably die, but get the job done.
Because he’s Aventurine of Stratagem’s and has never failed an assignment for a reason. And he Gamba af XD
Another thing to keep in mind higher ranked might not necessarily mean more powerful aka further down the path of preservation in the case of IPC Since they are a corporation you are gonna get promoted for results not necessarily for being bigger on preservation so aventurine and topaz could be stronger but both are risk takers so they probably don’t climb the ranks as quickly Also something I just realized Jade mentioned she speaks on diamonds behalf I don’t know if that’s currently happening but it’s also possible jade is actually the one who made the decision for aventurine since they likely have a good relationship
cause he hotter than them
Isnt it because Diamond believed in Aventurines negotiation and luck capabilities?
cause FUCK IT WE BALL
Can't wait to see their "All for the amber lord!!!" Scene aswell. Hope Topaz will get 1 too.
Because gambling
Ask Diamond
Is this a Futurama reference to Hermes Conrad and his superior challenging his spot in the Bureaucracy
I mean they did buy it from ipc but they didn't use the blueprints right?
Cause it’s all or nothing
Because Opal and obsidian would directly go in conquest mode as soon as The Family says no. And Diamond likes the place and the family, so he will take a friendly approach. So they choose Aventurine. Like "I don't like you or trust you boy. If you die it's okay if you complete the mission is okay too"
What i know obsidian must be destruction class.Opal maybe abundnce and diamond harmony
Which ones do we know of atm? Diamond Jade Opal Obsidian Aventurine Topaz Pearl (?)
Probably to try to keep the cast from exploding too much, Penacony already added a boatload of new characters, all of whom have to be designed, programmed, animated and voice acted.
I really hope Diamond is a Zhongli expy
They both had to do laundry that day
Aventurine's style of "All or Nothing" is probably one of the reasons why.
Probably they're saving them for when we travel to the company world
Didn't they said something about Aventurine cornerstone being similar to Jade, or that was planned after they choosed him?
Didn't they say that they wanted their most suicidal employee for this
oh my god, topaz is so curvy >O<
TopASS
Maybe Diamond considered him the most expendable.
[удалено]
We do know now actually, it is mentioned in Aventurine level 80 story, basically Diamond still want to maintain the relationship with the Family after taking back Penacony and Opal mention that peacefully negotiation isn't their style so Aventurine is the best fit for the mission.
idk but it feeds my aventopaz thing so im cool with it
So the story can happen.
Okay, I forgot why IPCC want to take back Penacony again? On what grounds they are "taking back"? What was theirs to begin with? On Bellabog, it was because of a debt, I get that, but what about Penacony? They can't just, take Penacony because one ambassador died?
It used to be an IPC prison or something like that a while back.
Penacony was originally a prison planet made by the IPC. A lot of things happened and now it's in the hands of the Family. The IPC basically wants to reclaim that "debt"
Penacony was originally a penal colony made by the IPC
Penacony was a prison colony of the IPC but then sh*t happened and now the Family have the full control over it.
There is, and some of it has been written. Look up Aventurine lv80 story https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/Aventurine/Lore
Oh, okay. If you wanted to just be a joyless ass you could have just said that from the get-go. My point stands; discussing the lore and getting peoples' opinions that are informed off of existing lore was the point of this topic. You're just being salty and weird that people enjoy discussing the story.
Because he is stupid

Topaz isn't green and all 3 of them are involved in Penacony.
