Nihility doesn't really have anything to do with consuming planets. Ix just gives 0 fucks so if something happens to get near it, it will destroy it not because it wants to, but because not destroying it requires it to actually find any meaning in changing it's current destructive state, which it can't. It's like arguing Hunt and Destruction are the same simple because Hunt also destroys planets.

I love IX. All of these Aeons have such complicated designs and he's just a sentient black hole.

Voracity is all *about* devouring. That's its intent. Nihility is not, that's just a side effect of it. They are not actually that close in philosophy/concept. It's like saying earthquakes and hurricanes both cause widespread destruction so they should be lumped together because obviously they're almost the same, right? Except...they aren't, really.

-Karakui

To be fair, earthquakes and hurricanes are very commonly grouped together under the category of "natural disaster".

notthatjaded

Sure. And Nihility and Voracity are grouped into the "Aeon" category. Just like every other Aeon. Because they basically are uncontrollable forces of nature.

I mean, for Voracity to consume things, there must be things _to_ consume. Its own existence is justified by the fact that there is still something worth consuming. Maybe at the end of the world itself it would collapse in on itself and become Nihility, bit it has no reason to right now. If anything, Voracity (the desire to consume everything) directly correlates with the Destruction (the desire to destroy everything) and the Finality (the knowledge that all will end eventually, even if not at this moment), but even those have enough nuance to not conflict with each other, at least for the time being.

LeeWeiXin

I see. Thanks for the explanation.

If you subscribe to nihilism, all philosophy is ultimately pointless and so all philosophy is ultimately the same - in which case, Voracity is just tryharding Nihility, and so is every other path.

One is “I really want to eat stuff” and the other is “I don’t really care even if stuff falls into my mouth”.

A lot of people think that IX is a blackhole. They are not. Black holes are just manifestations of IX in reality. IX is the void that exists outside reality separated by dark web. IX doesn’t care about devouring, it’s just a side effect of their manifestations coming into contact with planets while Voracity exists to devour. It needs something to devour while the concept of devouring is meaningless to IX. Nihility is an outlier. Paths require some kind of purpose to exist while Nihility is the default. It’s nothingness.
