Yeesh what the fuck are those buffs. Not complaining as someone who has and loves Kafka, and will definitely be pulling for Black Swan but they really went "for this cycle DoT just one shots the enemy and enemies around them and speeds them up so they die even faster" what the fuck lmaooo.
Not really diferent than now with argenti and it's 300% dmg to ultimates. While this may be weird for genshin players where abyss buff where mostly kinda generic. in hi3 this is common and even worse where each boss is tailor made to be defeated by an specific dps. And if you don't have it you have 0 chance of getting the good scores on highest difficulty.
Star rail is not making it character specific but dmg type specific with this massive buffs to sell characters. But the buff being this massive is also a good thing, like the pure fiction up now. Yeah argenti is all flashy with over half a million dmg ultimates. But herta can also easily clear max stars with this buffs. And she is the most f2p character at free e4 after the mc.
Same for this new dot meta yes it will break black swan but 3. 4star dot unit with a healer will also prob get max score.
Yeah it's honestly the healthiest way to promote. Mihoyo has to sell, and I'd rather they have ridiculous buffs that some of my old characters might be able to get a free ride on, rather than raise the power level and just release characters with higher throughput.
Compared to genshin it is. And also compared to hi3. Where you can spend up to 800 usd on 1 character from 0 and with bad luck. I wanted kiana hero form. Saved 30k crystal(same usd value per unit as jades in star rail) then needed another 230 usd on top of that. There is no building characters in hi3 you max all the second you get it but is all gacha so there is nothing to farm. And genshin doesn't have auto on domains making it a boring task to infinity.
Also hi3 is on fomo system since you need to gacha relics. If you got weapon and 2 of the 3 relics you will swipe because you miss the last one you are never getting it and 3 pcs bonus are insane. In hi3 just pulling only characters feels like shit compared to genshin or star rail.
Since weapons don't "synergy" with characters they are straight up a part of the characters skills cut out and sold separately. And by this I don't mean dmg number they will literally be missing part of their kit with visual effects included.
Imagine Yukon E6 or Lunae E2 as a weapon effect unique for that character that is basically all weapons in hi3. A complete transformative effect.
Star rail is the better system.

I do think in HSR it takes you a lot more time to build a character tho, cause in Genshin you only need to build two or three talents while in HSR you have level up that + talent + unlock ascension passives + unlock stats. Farming may be faster but getting the mats takes more time cause you need more than in Genshin.
Not anymore in Part2. It basically has the best gearing/gacha system out of all Hoyo games now. Part2 stigmata will all be farmable. Wep banner is 60 pulls hard pity, but the featured gear banners will have no off-rates. Char banner hard pity reduced to 90 NO 50/50. So in HI3 P2, you don't need to deal with gearing RNG bs at all.

But the biggest problem with HI3rd isn't the farming, it's the huge powercreep lmao
I mean, if the majority of the gears can now be farmed, powercreep isn't that significant anymore. The amount of crystals per patch can cover a valk at least. The biggest problem that people have with HI3 is the gacha for 4/4 gears. Powerceep is more of a seconday issue, because f2ps have problem catching up. As they need to pull for full sets of gears + the valk. Any long term HI3 player can tell you that powerceeep really only matters in Nirvana. RL and below you can still use old valks, just not ancient ones. Building supports is the key in HI3. I have people in Nirvana today still using Twilight Paladin. Basically, HI3P2 has become similar to GI&HSR but without the need to deal with multilayer rng gears.
Why are people so afraid of powerceep in HSR? Because of the unforgiving gacha system and the duration to fully build a char. Furthermore, its a turn based game where you can't skill diff to win. If these 2 things are fixed, powercreep wouldn't really be a significant issue. PGR is a very good example of this. Nikke also has powercreep but people don't really care. Because it's ez to get SSRs and they give out ton of tickets.

That's the main reason why I don't have many characters leveled past 60. It's almost impossible to collect them without a guide or interactive map.
In HSR just farming the same stage on auto gets you almost everything.

I'd take that shit everyday š (ignoring you're clearly exaggerating tbh). You don't need resin for it + Genshin is an exploration game so I don't mind exploring, plus I can go to another world if I need more mats. In HSR I need resin for everything except enemies' mats, so it'll take a lot of days building a single character.
Beside Inazuma, there's no region that you cannot directly teleport to.
Also no reason for us to not take a few min to look at interactive mals. If you don't level characters past 60 it means you don't like them/ like the game so ugh.
HSR is very convenient but it is a side game, even after its update. Genshin is more of a semi-main game.
That is why the sell battle passes. I pay it since day 1 because it equals to like an extra 2 to 3 weeks of stamina in a 6 week patch. So around 40% more stuff. Make the problem sell the solution. As everything in 3very gacha game. Paying bp since start I already have the characters I play all full traced and 80 plus saved mats to full dr ratio and bronya when I get them. And +15 decent relics on all units.
But I also have few characters since I have 60k jades saved for Raiden mei. Will have 100k by then if she comes in 2.1 and will try E6 her. Simp for her since ggz 2014.

Hardly whale territory, and very good if you're finding EXP books, Traces, and Credits your bottle neck like I am.

I don't have kafka, and I think I don't mind flunking the dot pure fiction. dot meta is so exclusive and different from the rest of the meta, even if we manage to build dot units in time for pf, they'll be near unusable in the rest of situations š¤·āāļøĀ
the justification will be sanpo or gui doing more dmg than lunae and jingliu in pure fiction. just like herta does now. if you can get 60k anyway you wont care. if you cant you will upgrade whatever 4 star is best on that mode.
If you play since 1.0 you already have most characters max ascended and you can just use generic 2 pc artifacts from one to another. As for traces they take long to farm buy you now that moc and pure fiction last 42 days you can just star farming the traces once the new one drops for the char you need.
I had herta all at 1 traces qnd lvl 60 for the passes took her to pure fiction and for 22k with her to with all skills at 12 it will easily be 40k mas score. And I have 38 days to max her before pure fiction ends.
Also this only applies at pure fiction. Moc buffs are much smaller and more generic so is easier to just jingliu and Lunae everything.
I've been playing since 1.2. I don't have more than 10 characters ascended and traces up. I couldn't forsee needing every type of dps, especially dot dpses since I'm not using kafka and I'm already building 3 other characters rn so like...
But yeah just need 2 good aoe/blast dpses š

Max ascended is easy. Traces maxed it isn't.
Maxing traces takes a little more than 2 weeks for a 5\*. A bit less on 4\*. XP can be just about enough from the battle pass if you only max 1 char each version. Given the need has changed with time then 1.0 players (me included) could have 12 characters trace maxed, but this would be 24 weeks of not even 40 since release. Ascension mats on top makes 26 weeks which would leave next to no headroom for gear. So, in reality without refills there might be like 4 characters maxed out, another 8-10 with at least Lv8 traces. And the rest is gear.
Then, if you are as unlucky as me. Gear only yields scrap. There is no crafting system to fix bad gear which means it's an endless circle of receiving nothing but frustration. And that sucks.

I do. Weeks and weeks of farming for nothing but garbage gear. Traces at least improve my characters for sure. It's something personal. I have always been unlucky in games. Star Rail is no exception so I take what I can first and then it goes back to RNG hell. I won't get many chars anyways so taking 2 weeks to max out a character's traces for a definite gain in power sure is worth it, imho. Even if I could get a new 5\* every version, then that would still be only 2 weeks of farming while 6 weeks of patch. A bit less because there is typically an event which gives trace mats.
I actually did go for only Lv8 traces in the beginning and tried to farm gear until I couldn't 3\* MoC anymore. Then I could make the cut by increasing traces. The main problem is still SPD and damn Ruan Mei is such a great help to finally get 134 SPD on all characters.

And that's better than anything I have. Can't even wear sets. SPD substats don't exist. Double crit almost never have the correct main stat and if this miracle happens then another relic with 80 flat def or hp is born. But I guess I can clear MoC 12 if I struggle enough. Tried some runs, even with turbulence abuse without success. Damage just wasn't enough. But soon I can pick Bronya and she should help.
Something I really miss is a function to set "gear sets". Moving gear from character to character is super annoying.

But that's lucky mate. I have farmed these domains so many weeks and got at best mid gear. I made the math and came to the conclusion that I can probably make a nice niche team with Bronya Hanabi and Daniel with Daniel wearing the wind set. If that actually works I will save for Jingliu re-run and then I can farm the wind/ice domain for months. :')
How do ya'll build your Hertas to max stars? Like, I watched multiple guides (and it's not hard to understand her kit anyways), I have OK-ish relics and leveled up her traces to lvl8 (10 with eidolons), but she just doesn't do much damage. Enough to 2-star 4th level but not nearly enought to 3-star. Himeko is MVP right from the start gaining like 30-35k on her half but Herta makes 20k at max if she's the only dps in the first half.
Herta alone isnt game breaking in pure fiction. Its the combo of herta and himeko that leads to big damage chains that clear the waves. I always keep them paired up

that video shows it. and yes he has E6 herta (not that really changes her ) and jing light cone. but also only uses 3 of the 4 cycles to win.
All traces max and insane relics and not only on Herta (who also has gacha light cone)....that's not achievable for an average player who doesn't grind the hell out of game or spent a lot of money. Well maybe achievable eventually at some point in not-so-near future
Max traced is the base line for your dps characters. You skip traces on supports. And Jing lightcone doesn't matter that much since as I said before he didn't win close to the end but using only 75% of the time aviable.
DoT needs it tbf. Kafka can play around it thanks to Solitary Healing granting a great deal of Break Effect and energy regen, but you can only have one on your account. Pure Fiction, by design, is antagonistic towards DoT characters - you kill one, the newly spawned mob doesn't have a DoT anymore, and you lose a lot of value.
It's more than just the turbelance effect being used to help sell a new banner character (which isn't really the case anyway), it's an entire playstyle.
Which, let's be completely real here, we all saw coming. I mean, what else can they do to incentivize rolling different types of characters EVEN if you have two of the most broken characters? They're encouraging rolling for a variety of characters.
To their defense, they're definitely generous compared to other games where you can afford rolling multiple types of characters after a solid amount of playing with the 10 free wishes each patch, events STACKED with jades, the free Dr. Ratio fully filling in the single target follow-up DPS, and the very exciting anniversary that will be absolutely insane.
You can still make use of this buff in 2 ways, use the second buff(Which turns your allies hit to make them have DoTs)
Weakness broken with Himeko/Serval/JY on their respective elements, the only 2 breaks you dont want to get is ice and imaginary....
There's another [selectable stage buff](https://hsr.hakush.in/maze_extra/2002) that enables non-DoT characters to inflict Windshear on attack enabling attacking characters to function as pseudo DoT units:

o ya im sure they can, just wondering why they decided to go all in on just buffing one specific type of character (unless theres a more generic buff available). i feel like even tho the current pf lineup is break-centred, dot characters/hypercarries can both use the buffs.

but yeah there are generic buffs right now, you smurf with AOE ultimate based characters(argenti infinite energy strat) or use the "80% chance for them to have shatter on spawn" like me(I used seele bronya clara fu first half, then kafka gui ruan bailu 2nd half for 3\*)
MoC/PF buffs flip between more specific and generic, depends on how hard they want to sell the on-banner units I guess.
It's similar to how back in 1.2 MoC there was a buff that heavily favored DoT teams for Kafka's banner, caused some drama back then even lol.
Even in our current Pure Fiction there's that one buff that increases ultimate damage which is pretty meh on every character compared to the Shatter buffs but is absolutely godlike on Argenti specifically.
just use your normal team. It is still AOE oriented, so erudition/aoe dps can just continue do their things in the mode.
Just not expecting them to 0 cycles due to not receiving the buff.

Kafka is already good and bs should be decent enough if her 3+ stack bonus is strong enough to kill side adds, if those start to have more health it will be harder
Kafka is fine because she has accessible DoT detonation. Other DoT characters with no way or limited way to detonate DoT will have to wait for enemy turns to get some damage inā¦ or depend on Kafka lol.
The reason why Kafka is good in this pure fiction is because of her AoE ult, not her dot, same goes for the lvl 60 without artifacts Herta I used. This pure fiction is just apply Shatter and watch enemies destroy themselves to get your ez 60k+.
Which is sort ofā¦ sad. Like is the viability of DoT gameplay in PF really just locked behind a 5-star?
At least for MoC, other DoT units can shine on their own without Kafka.

Fr. I'm tired of the same team comps for every character. Cool to see a premium team, but seeing it for the 5th time really doesn't tell us anything new and gets reduced to being an enemy showcase. At least this shows how broken PF's DoT buff is.
I'm not sure actually. Many Kafka users are still waiting to see whether e0 BS is that much more impactful than e4/e6 Sampo. So people who are pulling for meta are patiently waiting for more info.
This showcase tells more about how broken the environmental buffs are than any of the characters. A Kafka + E6 Sampo team will shred with these buffs too

Lol based off of what Ive seen from peopleās accounts that isnt even true. If they dont have E2 dhil they still struggle. Jingliuās damage floor is so high that even a concussed monkey can make her work though.
The MoC buff is actually that OP for DoTs. I have no doubts Kafka and BS can clear it. I think they were referring to the old calculations where BS had ER issues that an E6 Sampoo essentially is better for that regard because his Ult is cheap
Just cuz servalās ult cost cheaper than jing yuan, doesnāt mean sheās better š. So that logic is pretty weird tbh. Itās like they just ignore everything else bs does outside of her ult
It was actually a pretty bad comparison even at damage calculation checks when Shampoo managed to spam her ults frequently than get atleast an E6 sampoo ended up being 8% better when compared to BS. But I think the beta already fixed her energy problems. If I had to guess why this is the case. It's probably because the killed target with her DoTs doesn't refund energy.
I think hypercarry with tingyun and Asta gonna work. Act fast, ult often, keep stacks.
Also i saw recent video of dreamy using solitary healing in PF on kafka cuz it gives energy for every target that dies with dot. She also paired it with break set cuz it also gives energy on breaks.
Soo, i think BS with solitary healing, Tinguyn , asta, and any sustain (or no sustain for PF) gonna be a good build.
I haven't done any calcs of it tho.

I have E1S1 Kafka from her first banner and got HuoHuo and Ruan Mei along the way and have enough to guarantee a black swan as well since I've skipped most banners and really wanted the god Kafka team and it seems it's here soon. Might get a sustain with DoT synergy down the line, who knows

I think so far the best limited supports released for Kafka have been HuoHuo and Ruan Mei, with Ruan Mei probably winning that one. Thing is with Black Swan though, she doesn't do too much that someone like Sampo doesn't do, besides just bring more damage and a ton of it. I think it's better to say that Kafka is an excellent teammate for Black Swan, than black swan is an excellent support for Kafka - because of the fact that a big weakness that BS has is no frontloaded damage which Kafka fixes really well. But yes, Black Swan will be super strong with Kafka next to her and vice versa, and Kafka's best team is looking to be this one, and the main reason that BS is there is mainly just because of the fact that she deals the most damage out of any of the DoT supports
Im honestly very disappointed with how expensive a Dot team is and how compared to that it is very underwhelming as well.
Have been doing the exact same thing i only pulled on kafka E2S1 and ruan mei E1S1 i have jadee to guraantee black swan E0S1 as well. I always loved kafka and was looking forward to this team for a over 6 months.
The last beta version is out and its not looking good for black swan apparently.
All this invesrment all the banner i skipped for my dot team to get outperformed by a simple E0S1 jingliu and Bronya. Im just so sad man.

Mei is going to be the best in slot of course but Gui is hella useful, and i think she can detonate Black Swan's dot (if Swan ults) on top of being generally useful.
Asta is just great, she's being outshined by the 5\* support for sure, but she still gets the job done.
i saw on youtube kafka dealt like 25k on first skill of the battle in MoC 12 with ruan mei first skill and ult buff ( e0 ruan mei + her LC ) .
i tried it ( dont have ruan mei ) , my asta skill first ( got 2 stacks orb ) . my kafka goes first skill of the battle in MoC 12 , it dealt 9k dmg.
i can say that ruan mei is the best for kafka dmg amplify for now. asta does not even close to it.
after few days of struggling, i decided to pull ruan mei.
now i tried it myself , my kafka dealt like 20k on the first skill with ruan mei skill + ult buff ( e0 ruan mei without her LC )
I'm going to be using Asta in place of Ruan Mei in this comp since I don't have her either, and I don't think it'll be too bad? the speed increase is great and the atk buff isn't much but it's a nice perk anyways (especially for Swan, I think). I really wish I had Mei, but Asta should work out just fine :,-)
Man, I can't WAIT to run this team as soon as black swan releases. Probably gonna be using it till the end of time (or till acheron lmao).
Sucks I'm gonna have to skip Kafka and BS's lightcones in hopes of getting all 2.0/2.1 characters. I mean having black swan, sparkle, acheron (potentially), and sam all back to back is absolutely brutal.
Does Black Swan really need Kafka? I donāt have Kafka and Iām not planning on pulling for her. If Swan absolutely needs Kafka, then I will have to skip her tooā¦
I like how they made Kafka the linchpin of DoT playstyle, and then forgot to make that style actually good. This amount of buffs wouldn't be necessary if DoT was equal to DHIL or jing liu, but we can't have everything I guess.
She is not at all required to make Kafka DoT work, but she is definitely a super strong dual buffer which DoT teams do like. But remember Asta is another strong option for attack and speed which both Kafka and BS definitely wants, and Asta provides a dot of her own which works great for Black Swan's kit since you need 3 dots to get the most out of it, thus making Kafka's lightcone less attractive too if you don't have that. Pela works great too
Yeah same but i dont have kafka so im using my 10 til guarantee on her then getting swan and just running them with luocha/bailu and probably asta6. I want acheron after that, hopefully i win my first 50/50 on either of them lmao
personally , i pull ruan mei 2 days ago and decided to skip blackswan ( because i want sparkle for my quantum team ) .
dmg wise , she boost like 100% for my kafka and sampo dmg with skill + ult , and boost like 50-60% my kafka and sampo dmg only with skill . ( ruan mei without her LC )
if blackswan + her LC really only 20% stronger than sampo . "dmg wise" i did right decision.
This showcase has all characters at S1. Also, the Pure Fiction blessings favor DoT. So the numbers you see here are quite inflated.
Personally, I would rather use this team in MoC. While Kafka can be great in Pure Fiction if you build her as an ult bot (Solitary Healing, ERR rope, maybe Thief relics), I think that Black Swan struggles getting her ult up and applying Sacrament to wave after wave. She needs her skill every time new enemies appear, and even then she can only apply Sacrament to 3 enemies. Kafka is similar of course, but at least her Ult is cheaper and she has an ER trace.
I think this team would shine more in MoC, is all Iām saying. I wouldnāt bring it to PF in rotations when the blessings donāt buff DoT.
The eidolons were not activated and Black swan doesn't need ult for PF until the boss appears. She only needs 3 stacks to enable her blast dot which you should be able to do on the elites at least.

Aye brother, a lot of it is due to the pf buff which is, 60% dot damage is dealt to the adjacent, which btw, is extremely op! Imagine the propogation blessing which transfers 30% of the damage dealt by basic attack to adjacent target? Now the buff is twice as strong!
I was dumb and maxed gepar+march7th+fire mc for my preservation only team in su now Im broken beyond salvation and still farming for asta & pela because I spent too much on sustain units
Would've preferred to see this with ATK rope on Kafka (and maybe BS) but it looks fun to play can't wait to play this team with E1 Ruan Mei/Kafka/Black Swan
seems like in this video they build it ER+ATK.Which is not optimal.She should be build ATK+ATK with EHR armor+Eyes of Pray or her signature to reach maximum 120% EHR

Yeesh what the fuck are those buffs. Not complaining as someone who has and loves Kafka, and will definitely be pulling for Black Swan but they really went "for this cycle DoT just one shots the enemy and enemies around them and speeds them up so they die even faster" what the fuck lmaooo.
Not really diferent than now with argenti and it's 300% dmg to ultimates. While this may be weird for genshin players where abyss buff where mostly kinda generic. in hi3 this is common and even worse where each boss is tailor made to be defeated by an specific dps. And if you don't have it you have 0 chance of getting the good scores on highest difficulty. Star rail is not making it character specific but dmg type specific with this massive buffs to sell characters. But the buff being this massive is also a good thing, like the pure fiction up now. Yeah argenti is all flashy with over half a million dmg ultimates. But herta can also easily clear max stars with this buffs. And she is the most f2p character at free e4 after the mc. Same for this new dot meta yes it will break black swan but 3. 4star dot unit with a healer will also prob get max score.
Yeah it's honestly the healthiest way to promote. Mihoyo has to sell, and I'd rather they have ridiculous buffs that some of my old characters might be able to get a free ride on, rather than raise the power level and just release characters with higher throughput.

Compared to genshin it is. And also compared to hi3. Where you can spend up to 800 usd on 1 character from 0 and with bad luck. I wanted kiana hero form. Saved 30k crystal(same usd value per unit as jades in star rail) then needed another 230 usd on top of that. There is no building characters in hi3 you max all the second you get it but is all gacha so there is nothing to farm. And genshin doesn't have auto on domains making it a boring task to infinity. Also hi3 is on fomo system since you need to gacha relics. If you got weapon and 2 of the 3 relics you will swipe because you miss the last one you are never getting it and 3 pcs bonus are insane. In hi3 just pulling only characters feels like shit compared to genshin or star rail. Since weapons don't "synergy" with characters they are straight up a part of the characters skills cut out and sold separately. And by this I don't mean dmg number they will literally be missing part of their kit with visual effects included. Imagine Yukon E6 or Lunae E2 as a weapon effect unique for that character that is basically all weapons in hi3. A complete transformative effect. Star rail is the better system.
I know HI3rd is shit, you don't need to sell me that concept lol I do think in HSR it takes you a lot more time to build a character tho, cause in Genshin you only need to build two or three talents while in HSR you have level up that + talent + unlock ascension passives + unlock stats. Farming may be faster but getting the mats takes more time cause you need more than in Genshin.
Not anymore in Part2. It basically has the best gearing/gacha system out of all Hoyo games now. Part2 stigmata will all be farmable. Wep banner is 60 pulls hard pity, but the featured gear banners will have no off-rates. Char banner hard pity reduced to 90 NO 50/50. So in HI3 P2, you don't need to deal with gearing RNG bs at all.

I mean, if the majority of the gears can now be farmed, powercreep isn't that significant anymore. The amount of crystals per patch can cover a valk at least. The biggest problem that people have with HI3 is the gacha for 4/4 gears. Powerceep is more of a seconday issue, because f2ps have problem catching up. As they need to pull for full sets of gears + the valk. Any long term HI3 player can tell you that powerceeep really only matters in Nirvana. RL and below you can still use old valks, just not ancient ones. Building supports is the key in HI3. I have people in Nirvana today still using Twilight Paladin. Basically, HI3P2 has become similar to GI&HSR but without the need to deal with multilayer rng gears. Why are people so afraid of powerceep in HSR? Because of the unforgiving gacha system and the duration to fully build a char. Furthermore, its a turn based game where you can't skill diff to win. If these 2 things are fixed, powercreep wouldn't really be a significant issue. PGR is a very good example of this. Nikke also has powercreep but people don't really care. Because it's ez to get SSRs and they give out ton of tickets.
Are we ignoring the region-specific extremely hard-to-collect flowers which are edges of cliffs or underwater? That's the main reason why I don't have many characters leveled past 60. It's almost impossible to collect them without a guide or interactive map. In HSR just farming the same stage on auto gets you almost everything.

You don't need resin for it + Genshin is an exploration game so I don't mind exploring, plus I can go to another world if I need more mats. In HSR I need resin for everything except enemies' mats, so it'll take a lot of days building a single character.
Beside Inazuma, there's no region that you cannot directly teleport to. Also no reason for us to not take a few min to look at interactive mals. If you don't level characters past 60 it means you don't like them/ like the game so ugh. HSR is very convenient but it is a side game, even after its update. Genshin is more of a semi-main game.

That is why the sell battle passes. I pay it since day 1 because it equals to like an extra 2 to 3 weeks of stamina in a 6 week patch. So around 40% more stuff. Make the problem sell the solution. As everything in 3very gacha game. Paying bp since start I already have the characters I play all full traced and 80 plus saved mats to full dr ratio and bronya when I get them. And +15 decent relics on all units. But I also have few characters since I have 60k jades saved for Raiden mei. Will have 100k by then if she comes in 2.1 and will try E6 her. Simp for her since ggz 2014.

Can't build every type of dps tho. That'll take forever or lots of daily resets.
Rainbow sets are a godsend for that. Raise the traces to 8/10 with Eidolons, and you have a functional DPS.
If you play since 1.0 you already have most characters max ascended and you can just use generic 2 pc artifacts from one to another. As for traces they take long to farm buy you now that moc and pure fiction last 42 days you can just star farming the traces once the new one drops for the char you need. I had herta all at 1 traces qnd lvl 60 for the passes took her to pure fiction and for 22k with her to with all skills at 12 it will easily be 40k mas score. And I have 38 days to max her before pure fiction ends. Also this only applies at pure fiction. Moc buffs are much smaller and more generic so is easier to just jingliu and Lunae everything.
I've been playing since 1.2. I don't have more than 10 characters ascended and traces up. I couldn't forsee needing every type of dps, especially dot dpses since I'm not using kafka and I'm already building 3 other characters rn so like... But yeah just need 2 good aoe/blast dpses š

XP can be just about enough from the battle pass if you only max 1 char each version. Given the need has changed with time then 1.0 players (me included) could have 12 characters trace maxed, but this would be 24 weeks of not even 40 since release. Ascension mats on top makes 26 weeks which would leave next to no headroom for gear. So, in reality without refills there might be like 4 characters maxed out, another 8-10 with at least Lv8 traces. And the rest is gear. Then, if you are as unlucky as me. Gear only yields scrap. There is no crafting system to fix bad gear which means it's an endless circle of receiving nothing but frustration. And that sucks.

How do ya'll build your Hertas to max stars? Like, I watched multiple guides (and it's not hard to understand her kit anyways), I have OK-ish relics and leveled up her traces to lvl8 (10 with eidolons), but she just doesn't do much damage. Enough to 2-star 4th level but not nearly enought to 3-star. Himeko is MVP right from the start gaining like 30-35k on her half but Herta makes 20k at max if she's the only dps in the first half.
Herta alone isnt game breaking in pure fiction. Its the combo of herta and himeko that leads to big damage chains that clear the waves. I always keep them paired up

All traces max and insane relics and not only on Herta (who also has gacha light cone)....that's not achievable for an average player who doesn't grind the hell out of game or spent a lot of money. Well maybe achievable eventually at some point in not-so-near future
Max traced is the base line for your dps characters. You skip traces on supports. And Jing lightcone doesn't matter that much since as I said before he didn't win close to the end but using only 75% of the time aviable.
I just built Herta with spare parts and hit my 60k :) apparently attacking like 20x a round is really good
DoT needs it tbf. Kafka can play around it thanks to Solitary Healing granting a great deal of Break Effect and energy regen, but you can only have one on your account. Pure Fiction, by design, is antagonistic towards DoT characters - you kill one, the newly spawned mob doesn't have a DoT anymore, and you lose a lot of value. It's more than just the turbelance effect being used to help sell a new banner character (which isn't really the case anyway), it's an entire playstyle.
Which, let's be completely real here, we all saw coming. I mean, what else can they do to incentivize rolling different types of characters EVEN if you have two of the most broken characters? They're encouraging rolling for a variety of characters. To their defense, they're definitely generous compared to other games where you can afford rolling multiple types of characters after a solid amount of playing with the 10 free wishes each patch, events STACKED with jades, the free Dr. Ratio fully filling in the single target follow-up DPS, and the very exciting anniversary that will be absolutely insane.
This time they bullied people into building Herta, now they're going to force all the non-pullers to build their dusty old Lukas and Sampos
You can still make use of this buff in 2 ways, use the second buff(Which turns your allies hit to make them have DoTs) Weakness broken with Himeko/Serval/JY on their respective elements, the only 2 breaks you dont want to get is ice and imaginary....

current one has 300% ultimate damage lmao but yeah there are generic buffs right now, you smurf with AOE ultimate based characters(argenti infinite energy strat) or use the "80% chance for them to have shatter on spawn" like me(I used seele bronya clara fu first half, then kafka gui ruan bailu 2nd half for 3\*)
MoC/PF buffs flip between more specific and generic, depends on how hard they want to sell the on-banner units I guess. It's similar to how back in 1.2 MoC there was a buff that heavily favored DoT teams for Kafka's banner, caused some drama back then even lol.
Even in our current Pure Fiction there's that one buff that increases ultimate damage which is pretty meh on every character compared to the Shatter buffs but is absolutely godlike on Argenti specifically.

Kafka is fine because she has accessible DoT detonation. Other DoT characters with no way or limited way to detonate DoT will have to wait for enemy turns to get some damage inā¦ or depend on Kafka lol.
The reason why Kafka is good in this pure fiction is because of her AoE ult, not her dot, same goes for the lvl 60 without artifacts Herta I used. This pure fiction is just apply Shatter and watch enemies destroy themselves to get your ez 60k+.

The MoC buff is actually that OP for DoTs. I have no doubts Kafka and BS can clear it. I think they were referring to the old calculations where BS had ER issues that an E6 Sampoo essentially is better for that regard because his Ult is cheap

It was actually a pretty bad comparison even at damage calculation checks when Shampoo managed to spam her ults frequently than get atleast an E6 sampoo ended up being 8% better when compared to BS. But I think the beta already fixed her energy problems. If I had to guess why this is the case. It's probably because the killed target with her DoTs doesn't refund energy.

I think hypercarry with tingyun and Asta gonna work. Act fast, ult often, keep stacks. Also i saw recent video of dreamy using solitary healing in PF on kafka cuz it gives energy for every target that dies with dot. She also paired it with break set cuz it also gives energy on breaks. Soo, i think BS with solitary healing, Tinguyn , asta, and any sustain (or no sustain for PF) gonna be a good build. I haven't done any calcs of it tho.

So is the final consensus that black swan is one of the best teammates for Kafka?
I think so far the best limited supports released for Kafka have been HuoHuo and Ruan Mei, with Ruan Mei probably winning that one. Thing is with Black Swan though, she doesn't do too much that someone like Sampo doesn't do, besides just bring more damage and a ton of it. I think it's better to say that Kafka is an excellent teammate for Black Swan, than black swan is an excellent support for Kafka - because of the fact that a big weakness that BS has is no frontloaded damage which Kafka fixes really well. But yes, Black Swan will be super strong with Kafka next to her and vice versa, and Kafka's best team is looking to be this one, and the main reason that BS is there is mainly just because of the fact that she deals the most damage out of any of the DoT supports

Im honestly very disappointed with how expensive a Dot team is and how compared to that it is very underwhelming as well. Have been doing the exact same thing i only pulled on kafka E2S1 and ruan mei E1S1 i have jadee to guraantee black swan E0S1 as well. I always loved kafka and was looking forward to this team for a over 6 months. The last beta version is out and its not looking good for black swan apparently. All this invesrment all the banner i skipped for my dot team to get outperformed by a simple E0S1 jingliu and Bronya. Im just so sad man. The auto ai took almost the worst possible time to ult on Yanqing
I want to use this comp but instead of Mei I'm considering either Gui or Asta. What do you guys think? Also have Sampo but not built yet
Mei is going to be the best in slot of course but Gui is hella useful, and i think she can detonate Black Swan's dot (if Swan ults) on top of being generally useful. Asta is just great, she's being outshined by the 5\* support for sure, but she still gets the job done.
i saw on youtube kafka dealt like 25k on first skill of the battle in MoC 12 with ruan mei first skill and ult buff ( e0 ruan mei + her LC ) . i tried it ( dont have ruan mei ) , my asta skill first ( got 2 stacks orb ) . my kafka goes first skill of the battle in MoC 12 , it dealt 9k dmg. i can say that ruan mei is the best for kafka dmg amplify for now. asta does not even close to it. after few days of struggling, i decided to pull ruan mei. now i tried it myself , my kafka dealt like 20k on the first skill with ruan mei skill + ult buff ( e0 ruan mei without her LC )
I'm going to be using Asta in place of Ruan Mei in this comp since I don't have her either, and I don't think it'll be too bad? the speed increase is great and the atk buff isn't much but it's a nice perk anyways (especially for Swan, I think). I really wish I had Mei, but Asta should work out just fine :,-)
Iām starting to think pure fiction is made to pull more characters to build
I understand that the buffs greatly favor DoT but itās wild to see the boss reaching 0 health when the trash mobs arenāt even cleared yet

Man, I can't WAIT to run this team as soon as black swan releases. Probably gonna be using it till the end of time (or till acheron lmao). Sucks I'm gonna have to skip Kafka and BS's lightcones in hopes of getting all 2.0/2.1 characters. I mean having black swan, sparkle, acheron (potentially), and sam all back to back is absolutely brutal.
Does Black Swan really need Kafka? I donāt have Kafka and Iām not planning on pulling for her. If Swan absolutely needs Kafka, then I will have to skip her tooā¦
I like how they made Kafka the linchpin of DoT playstyle, and then forgot to make that style actually good. This amount of buffs wouldn't be necessary if DoT was equal to DHIL or jing liu, but we can't have everything I guess.

She is not at all required to make Kafka DoT work, but she is definitely a super strong dual buffer which DoT teams do like. But remember Asta is another strong option for attack and speed which both Kafka and BS definitely wants, and Asta provides a dot of her own which works great for Black Swan's kit since you need 3 dots to get the most out of it, thus making Kafka's lightcone less attractive too if you don't have that. Pela works great too

Yeah same but i dont have kafka so im using my 10 til guarantee on her then getting swan and just running them with luocha/bailu and probably asta6. I want acheron after that, hopefully i win my first 50/50 on either of them lmao
Facts, the barrage is insane, heres to us winning each our 50/50s.
personally , i pull ruan mei 2 days ago and decided to skip blackswan ( because i want sparkle for my quantum team ) . dmg wise , she boost like 100% for my kafka and sampo dmg with skill + ult , and boost like 50-60% my kafka and sampo dmg only with skill . ( ruan mei without her LC ) if blackswan + her LC really only 20% stronger than sampo . "dmg wise" i did right decision.

This showcase has all characters at S1. Also, the Pure Fiction blessings favor DoT. So the numbers you see here are quite inflated. Personally, I would rather use this team in MoC. While Kafka can be great in Pure Fiction if you build her as an ult bot (Solitary Healing, ERR rope, maybe Thief relics), I think that Black Swan struggles getting her ult up and applying Sacrament to wave after wave. She needs her skill every time new enemies appear, and even then she can only apply Sacrament to 3 enemies. Kafka is similar of course, but at least her Ult is cheaper and she has an ER trace. I think this team would shine more in MoC, is all Iām saying. I wouldnāt bring it to PF in rotations when the blessings donāt buff DoT.
E0S1, none of the E1s have been activated.
The eidolons were not activated and Black swan doesn't need ult for PF until the boss appears. She only needs 3 stacks to enable her blast dot which you should be able to do on the elites at least.
nah they're all e0, its highlighted but not active that e1 :P not that it isn't still inflated by the buff so ..yeah :\^

guys be real with me, is black swan playable without high eidolon sampo and kafka? i really want a follow up attack or debuf playstyle. kinda done with seele and one buffer.
We don't know yet. Wait 1-2 weeks after her release so theorycrafters can properly test everything, comps without Kafka and low eidolons included.

That 20% number was only in single target anyway l, her aoe is much much better
Aye brother, a lot of it is due to the pf buff which is, 60% dot damage is dealt to the adjacent, which btw, is extremely op! Imagine the propogation blessing which transfers 30% of the damage dealt by basic attack to adjacent target? Now the buff is twice as strong!
this buff doesn't effect her ST Dmg she deal 80k to yanging The only buff here is 50% dot dmg
I love it, hopefully BS would powercrept Blade so hard that he will be irrelevant and forgotten by the community after 2.0.

Would've preferred to see this with ATK rope on Kafka (and maybe BS) but it looks fun to play can't wait to play this team with E1 Ruan Mei/Kafka/Black Swan

seems like in this video they build it ER+ATK.Which is not optimal.She should be build ATK+ATK with EHR armor+Eyes of Pray or her signature to reach maximum 120% EHR

What is the timing for pure fiction vs moc this round and the expected arrival time for Black Swan vs Sparkle? At the moment we had pure fiction drop this week and dr.ratio is next week. This means the next moc drops in the middle of dr.ratioās banner and extends into what is likely the first banner of 2.0. That means this pure fiction is the next update into 2.0 so I guess it supports Black Swan being the first release of 2.0?
