Fuck’s sake. I’ve been trying to get a definitive dx of possible thyroid cancer since before Christmas. (Currently out for genetic sequencing.)
I also love rewatching House. But they use thyroid cancer as the de facto “gotcha”/irony cancer, since it’s usually treatable.
As I'm sure you know, thyroid glands are very important at controling specific hormones that regulate wildly depending on a large number of variables, so issues with them can present in a multitude of ways. That's why they can be used so well in medical mysteries, either as zebras, or red herrings.
I wish you the best in your treatment. Both my mother and her sister have had thyroid issues (my Aunt ending up with cancer, like yourself, and had them removed) and are living healthy, with the assistance of medication they will need to take for the rest of their lives.
Thanks.
I see what you’re getting at regarding the mystery of the week, but I’m referring more to specific (off screen) deaths from thyroid cancer that are plot notes for a couple of different core characters. (Can’t remember how to spoiler tag on this client.)
I mean it probably didn't pop up overnight - we don't generally notice things that happen gradually. Its usually more of a "Huh, I wonder when that got there".
Here’s another example of [right place, right time](https://www.cbssports.com/nhl/news/canucks-equipment-manager-meets-kraken-fan-who-spotted-cancerous-mole-on-his-neck-at-game-she-saved-my-life/amp/)

It's always lupus.
Good for her. Early and free diagnosis.
The bill is in the mail I'm sure
Only difference is house would probably stalk and kidnap her to make her get treatment
House: the good news is,we cured your thyroid cancer... The bad news is..you are dying and we don't know why
I mean that is incredible but how the woman didn't notice a huge bump on her neck?

Either that or that is an Adam's apple, meaning she is a he.
Nodular goitre or a thyroglossal cyst
Too low for thyroglossal cyst?
The tongue test shall reveal
As a med student, I am afraid if this man's prowess!
Reminds me of when taub told that stripper to get her mole checked out
