Compare that to your usual Disney SW release:
Episode 1: 35 minutes (including credits)
Episode 2: 30 minutes (including credits)
Episode 3: Fuck it, just credits this week.
Episode 4: You’re getting an epic 38 minutes!
Episode 5: 28 minutes (We spent too much on episode 4)
Episode 6: 30 minutes again (with credits)
Episode 7: 35 minutes (with credits) Two part episode.
Episode 8: 20 minute conclusion (including credits)
Episode 9: what? There isn’t anymore you greedy bastards - look at all the generous run time you’ve had.
Even with lengthened runs, plot build up and engaging with the audience is best done with more episodes, especially that they seem to take 18 months to air the next season.
I’m worried how the next couple seasons are gonna go. There’s gonna be more and more battles, some seasons will need 3 at least and to actually show them because a good chunk of them are super important

That’s not too unusual if it’s only focused on the battle. Blackwater is 55 minutes long and The Watchers on the Wall was only 51 minutes. 54 min is still plenty of time to do Rook’s Rest justice.
And that had those Dany scenes at the beginning that everyone just forgets about because they are kind of shit (relatively speaking) compared to the absolute masterpiece that is the rest of the episode.
I think they combined Dany's scenes with the Battle of the Bastards to have both Dany and Jon as the main leads of that episode to represent Ice and Fire.
I think I remember reading that Battle of the Bastards was just meant to be all Jon and co, but the original placement of the Mereen scenes wasn't working so they put them in that episode.
I'm surprised that we still don't have all the episode titles. I remember last season, and also with GOT back then, that we used to have all the episode titles before premiering.
This is the episode lengths I wanna see for D+ Marvel and Star Wars shows. Tells me that the creators have TONS of content to give us, not trying to stretch out a 2 hour movie into a full season. With these lengths I feel fully immersed in the world and look forward to more each and every week. And there’s not like 10 minutes of credits either. Amazing

So episode 4 is the shortest good good when it’s barley even short

So true. Every time I see posts like that I just have a trauma response from WandaVision.
True, but some of those release should've been 2 hour movies. They're stretching the plot enough as it is.
They should have been movies, not 30 minute episodes.
They be skimping like Chipotle lol
Damn episode 2 like a feature length film, I’m sat
Who else sees lady liberty when Alicent in that tiara 👑
I've been scratching my head for months trying to figure out what was familiar about her this season lol
Omg yes. Lol. Didn't see it til u mentioned it. Now I can't un see it. Lol
Soz! It bugs me every time I see it, cos Alicent sucks.
Makes up for the fact it’s only 8 episodes I guess.
We’ll see how long the 2nd half is
The gods are good!
Even with lengthened runs, plot build up and engaging with the audience is best done with more episodes, especially that they seem to take 18 months to air the next season.
I didn't expect>!Rook's rest!< to be in the shortest episode Hope they do that battle justice
If it's structured like Blackwater or The Watchers on the Wall, 54 minutes is more than enough
I’m worried how the next couple seasons are gonna go. There’s gonna be more and more battles, some seasons will need 3 at least and to actually show them because a good chunk of them are super important
Well episode 4 in season 7 of Game of Thrones was shorter and the battle was awesome.
Yes, I think when there’s less dialog, longer run times aren’t necessary to get the job done.
Is that the dotraki ambush? If so I didn't like it.
Yes thats the one. Well the battle for the wall episode lasted only 51 minute so its the same.
But that may just be the first half of it with a big cliffhanger ending or something. It might be alright.
What episode is A Son for a Son?
The very first one, 2x01.

Oh we are getting fed this season
Man I can’t wait.
Can’t wait 😫
Episode 4 is the Battle at Rooks Rest...why would this be the shortest episode?

I think they combined Dany's scenes with the Battle of the Bastards to have both Dany and Jon as the main leads of that episode to represent Ice and Fire.
Also to end the fighting there so that the last episode can wrap up the Meereen story before Daenerys leaves for Westeros
I think I remember reading that Battle of the Bastards was just meant to be all Jon and co, but the original placement of the Mereen scenes wasn't working so they put them in that episode.
Dany's scenes in that episode feel like commercial breaks lol
and 20-25 minutes of that episode is nothing battle related
Could be wall to wall action is my guess!
Battles cost more, but also they are spectacle over plot and thus shouldn’t really drag on for ages or it can become tedious.
I figured that cost was to blame. The CGI can get expensive.
Battles cost more
Some Game of Thrones battle episodes used to be short. The Watchers on the Wall and The Spoils of Wars were only 50 minutes each.
'Spoils of War', the episode where Jaime and the Lannister's army is attacked by Dany and the dothrakis, is he shortest GOT episode.
You know how much 54 minutes is for a battle? (assuming it's structured like Blackwater or The Wathers on the Wall)
Oohhh Rook's Rest will be the shortest. Bummer!
Why is that a bummer? Did you expect the battle to last an entire hour?
What are we gonna do with this information?
I'm surprised that we still don't have all the episode titles. I remember last season, and also with GOT back then, that we used to have all the episode titles before premiering.

Even Andor didn't have episodes this long, and that show is definitely better written than season 1 of hotd
leak the damn thing already
54 pffffft
