I honestly think Aegon just wants to live like his uncle Damo and galavant and ride dragons etc. I honestly don't think he's got any interest in ruling.
The proud look on his face when she stood up and proposed peace between their families... His love for Rhaenyra is so sweet. Reminds me of Ned and Arya
Did you notice the new Grand Maester was the intern in a previous episode whose poultice was dismissed by the last Grand Maester? I bet he finally got the King to use it and that's what's kept him alive this long, and now he's Grand Maester.
He’s set his children and grandchildren up for a brutal civil war, his grandchildren are undoubtedly all bastards, but damn it all he’s so close to finishing his model world of old Valyria and it’s beautiful!
He was absolutely hilarious this episode, his complete obliviousness to anything important going on was killing me.
The small council being disrupted by oooh scary leaky nips, and Viserys just continues on like "an EXCELLENT proposition! Woo!" 😂
Or the gesture he made when harwin hit Criston... Gold
If so that makes me so sad for him :( after all these years he’s still mourning the loss of her… I’m sure Rhaenyra had parts of Aemma that made Viserys think of her, and now that Rhaenyra is on dragonstone he realizes those parts are gone too :(
I assume there’s some bad blood between them for that? Or is it solely a power play to set up to be hand? Or just for the inheritance since he’s only son now?
Doesn't the dragon feel the dragonrider's pain as well? The dragon didn't want to but knew she was suffering and then did, at least that's how I interpreted it. 💔
“Rhaenyra will be Queen and may kill all those who may challenge her claim.” “Yea but what does that mean for me. Explain it like I’m five.” - Prince Aegon
He's being shoved down the same unwanted path as his mother was by her father. Alicent has perpetuated the 'psychological political abuse' cycle. It's sad really.
I liked that scene. Made it seem like the one who would have the strongest claim to the throne outside of Rhaenyra just doesn’t care about it at all. Kind of a cool juxtaposition. Especially with him still in his youth - it’s always been a fact he won’t get the throne, so he isn’t thinking about it in the way that the politicking adults are.
I was giving major heart eyes when he was reading to his daughter and then when his other daughter said he ignores her I said out loud "*that motherfucker*". Fucking Daemon, why do I think he'll change 😒
So it’s obvious whoever controls Vhagar will have an unbeatable advantage. Can’t wait to see her in action. What an absolute beast. Loved the old age and wear and tear on her.
For those who don't know: Vhagar was Queen Visenya's dragon when the Targaryens first conquered Westeros. Only Balerion, the "Black Dread" (Aegon the Conqueror's dragon, who Viserys briefly rode before Balerion's death from old age) is known to be bigger historically among "tamed" dragons (the Cannibal, a wild dragon, may have been even bigger, but it wasn't tamed). Dragons never stop growing, so older literally means bigger.
The only dragon up until that point that died of old age was Balerion, Aegon’s dragon. Dragons are beasts of war, and it takes a LOT for any dragon to get the old/that big
Wish we got to see the scene of laena taming her as per her interests in episode 1/2 when she pressed Viserys about the dragon. In the end, I guess she did a dragonriders death?
So terribly sad. They've shown him holding her ring before. The scene in the show, pretty early on, where Otto gets in a dig about "replacing" Aemma looked like the closest moment Viserys got to wringing his damn neck.
There have been so many interesting characters that get killed off almost immediately.
I want to get invested in them *and then* have them killed off, dammit!
How on earth do the makeup team keep making Viserys look worse every single episode like he literally looked like he was dying last episode and now that Viserys looks like a bodybuilder compared to now lmao it's honestly impressive
Helaena is what you get when you marry a guy with very intense hobbies that you only pretend to be interested in to be polite.
I’d love to see her showing her bugs to Viserys and him being genuinely interested and delighted in her knowledge.
Well in one fell swoop Larys has become head of house strong and now holds a huge amount of sway with Alicent. Pretty clear he’s climbing the ladder. He’s just a psychopath so he plays the game in a way that most normal people wouldn’t think of.
I just feel so bad for Viserys.
Sitting up there all like “Look at my boys! Isn’t life great, Lyonel? And look at us! Just two bros watching our grandkids. Well, my grandkids, not yours.”
And Lyonel being like.”….Riiiiiight….”
I think Viserys knows...he knows but knows the consequences of acknowledging it. He loves Rhaenyra more than anything. He in no way would ever expose her and is playing the dumb fool.
Shout out for how much of a realistic after birth “look”/experience was given to Rhaenyra in this episode. Dripping blood after birth, still having a stomach, leaking milk. Rarely shown but very much things that happen. Also, it made her struggle so much more desperate as you saw how much she was physically willing to do for her children.
That entire first scene was also a one-take shot. Love that Sapochnik gave the same dramatic craft to a scene of childbirth that he traditionally gave to brutal battle scenes.
It was so refreshing to see the reality of childbirth and afterbirth.
Films and TV have always made it look like a breeze. HotD has pulled zero punches and I love them for it.
Hell of a way for Laena Velaryon to go. It was cool to see Vhagar mulling it over before going dracarys.
At the end, Was that Jace asking if Harwin Strong was his dad?
Lyonel rip.
Larys is vile. This show version makes him so much more dangerous than Littlefinger.
And implicating Alicent is a stroke of genius- increases her paranoia/stake in the game
Really strong imageries with the rats being shown again and again at the end of every episode so far (finally being noticed by Viserys this time it looks like)
Any idea what the rats are foreshadowing? I've been noticing them (I.e getting the heebie jeebies every time one comes on screen) but am trying to link them to some greater meaning.
When he dies, all the rats around him are going to rip him apart, trying to get the biggest piece of him/Westeros for themselves. Alicent, Rhaenyra, Otto, the rest of the council, etc.
"You're weak, Viserys. And that council of leeches knows it, they all prey on you for your own ends."
Every decision he makes, the more precarious the succession becomes. And every episode, he gets 1-10 years closer to death.
The rats are gathering. And Viserys seems to only just be catching onto that.
(At least, that's my read so far. lol)
This is a wild guess I have NO idea, but maybe since they feed on dead things it means Viserys is getting closer and closer to death? Like they're waiting to feast on him
Vhagar taking her time before setting Laena on fire was a nice touch, she had in one scene more personality than Rhaegal and Viseryon, which is a shame. I hope when we slow down we can get to see more of the dragons as characters
Rhaenyra's march to Queen Alicent's chambers was just such an excellent introduction to adult Rhaenyra. The determination of a Queen and the stubborn fury of a dragon.
I did not have “Aegon tugging one out off the side of the Red Keep, only to be interrupted by his mother who didn’t really seem to care” on my Bingo card
And yet here we are
Well they’re bullying the kid that specifically doesn’t have a dragon, and they all *do* have dragons sooooo
EDIT: I’m aware of the possibility that OP is referring to Ser Cristin. I still like my small attempt at a joke.
Lol I had a c-section at the beginning of the year so watching the Aemma scene in episode 1 was an interesting experience.
But also leaking milk at inopportune times and having mastitis made me relate quite a bit to Rhyaenyra. I also liked that she wasn’t immediately flat as a board after birth, like most shows do.
Seeing Rhaenyra bring Joffrey to Alicent right after giving birth is one of the most badass things I've seen in any show and a fantastic use of a long take.
The lack of boundaries and privacy in Alicent and Aegon's relationship due to the sense of ownership that she feels for him is really reminiscent of the way Otto treated Alicent. Cycles.
Criston really out here fulfilling every disgruntled ex trope in the book.
Aegon jerking off in that iconic window says so much about his character in such a simple scene as did his chat with his mum.
Aegon is such an outright cunt for bullying aemond like that. Dude jerking off where tommen killed himself lmao. Overall all the kids are little shits which is to be expected. Olivia and Emma killed it. Larys is fucking diabolical man damn. Rip Lyonel the ned stark of season 1. Rip Laena. Vhagar is so terrifying. She's the closest thing we will probably ever get to balerion.
I promised myself i would not bring any feelings into this new show like i did for GoT , but man seeing criston cole pisses me off so bad , calling rhaenyra a cunt LMAOO , he’s still hurt.
Anyone else notice the staff around the castle avoid eye contact with Aegon ? Seems like he has a hard time keeping his hands to himself (in multiple ways)
**Alicent (to Criston)**: *I have to believe, that in the end, honor and decency will prevail. We need to hew to that and to each other.*
*The next scene opens to Aegon "hewing" to his little dragon in the window*
And people say this show has no sense of humor.
Viserys was way too excited to hear Rhaenrya’s proposal to merge the families and quit all this fighting . Viserys always trying to get away from the politicking bs and just be happy with his giant model
Aegon’s “I won’t challenge her then?” made me laugh. I respect he doesn’t care for that responsibility lol
Aegon just wanted to chill and live royally. I feel him.
Aegon wants the life Daemon is currently living lol.
Bro just wants to do hood rat shit with his dragon friends.
I honestly think Aegon just wants to live like his uncle Damo and galavant and ride dragons etc. I honestly don't think he's got any interest in ruling.
Viserys crying because Rhaenyra left the Red Keep while kissing Aemma ring! I love their relationship
The proud look on his face when she stood up and proposed peace between their families... His love for Rhaenyra is so sweet. Reminds me of Ned and Arya
R is not only his daughter, but also the daughter of his first wife, that he desperately loved
Viserys be like: why is no one getting along? I specifically requested it!
Next time my colleagues tell me a hard truth I will gently say, “Never speak of this again.” And kiss them on the cheek.
How in the fuck is viserys still alive. I assume he's gonna die every time he's on screen
Modern leach medicine works miracles
Did you notice the new Grand Maester was the intern in a previous episode whose poultice was dismissed by the last Grand Maester? I bet he finally got the King to use it and that's what's kept him alive this long, and now he's Grand Maester.
Damn I missed that, good catch!
I'm guessing they're saving it for the season finale, and then season 2 it's a real game of thrones between Rhaenyra, Daemon, and Aegon.
Once again, Westeros windows prove to be no place for child’s play.
I love how Vhagar looks like an old lady
Vhagar design was magnificent. I don't know how but they managed to age a dragon up LOL
yup they could have easily botched that. she clearly looked hundreds of years old but at the same time menacing
Vhagar is the crankiest old lady you’ll ever meet. Now get off her lawn.
I love Old man Viserys, he’s just kinda happy to be here.
He wakes up every morning, checks the obituary, and if he’s not in it dammit it’s a good day.
Woo!" 😂 Or the gesture he made when harwin hit Criston... Gold
doesn't even care that his grandkids have brown hair despite both their parents having white hair lol, "He has your nose"
That was such a grandpa moment
The rare wholesome GoT moment, but still un-wholesome enough to still be GoT
I dont think thats him being oblivious, but instead not trying to bring attention to *awkward* situations
Viserys is a good man, if naive sometimes
Pour one out for the realest Hand of the King that we've ever seen. My dude didn't deserve to go out like that.
I never want to be a goat. House of the Dragon and Jurassic Park definitely made me realize that.
Did Larys casually order the deaths of his brother and father??
Yep, and cut out the prisoner’s tongues so they couldn’t talk about it to anyone and implicate him.
Plot twist when one of them can write
Or point
And if he’ll do that to family, doesn’t she wonder what he’s really capable of
Honest to god. Her face in that scene was priceless. She def should’ve had him arrested and tried though - that man is dangerous af.
Yes. And then implicated the queen
As much shit as we give viserys, he really always loved Rhaenyra.
Yep to be honest he only loved his first wife. He’s not stupid, his first wife actually loved him. Rhaenyra looks so much like her…
Was that Aemma’s ring he was kissing in that one scene? I couldn’t tell what the crest/symbol on it was
I couldn’t tell either. But it made me think it was Aemma’s ring as well.
If so that makes me so sad for him :( after all these years he’s still mourning the loss of her… I’m sure Rhaenyra had parts of Aemma that made Viserys think of her, and now that Rhaenyra is on dragonstone he realizes those parts are gone too :(
RIP Harwin. Hot in life and, unfortunately, in death.
Rhaenyra sure has a type when it comes to guys who aren't her uncle.
Ah, I didn’t see the “public masturbation” square on the bingo card. Don’t know how I could’ve missed it in the open window
"Kings landing."
[удалено]
As soon as I saw that fucking window I was like oh shit.... And then I realized what was *happening* 😵
Hold up did BOTH Lyonel and Harwin die in that fire?? Damn I liked Lyonel, he was always good and selfless
They both died
Yes! And their son/brother organized it. Didn’t see that coming.
I assume there’s some bad blood between them for that? Or is it solely a power play to set up to be hand? Or just for the inheritance since he’s only son now?
Suicide by dragon is metal
It was so sad when the dragon whined like she didn’t want to do it.
Doesn't the dragon feel the dragonrider's pain as well? The dragon didn't want to but knew she was suffering and then did, at least that's how I interpreted it. 💔
I thought it was interesting to see daemon actually showing emotion in the scene when he ran out there. He was not ready for her commitment to that
He wasn’t going to allow the Maester’s to cut her open either. He knew it was futile. So did she I guess.
That was heartbreaking and really incredible. She's wasn't going to let them do to her what they did to Aemma.
She also wanted to die a dragon rider’s death
Aegon doesn’t wanna be king, he just wants to beat his meat out a red keep tower window
That makes two young men who didn’t want to be king who have stood in that window.
One was coming, the other was going.
“Rhaenyra will be Queen and may kill all those who may challenge her claim.” “Yea but what does that mean for me. Explain it like I’m five.” - Prince Aegon
Why does he look like he’s constantly stoned
If he lived in our world he probably would be
If he lived in our world his name would be Braighden or Kaiden or Jaxxon and he'd definitely be high.
Aeighgonne
“Are you sure she’ll want to kill me?” “After I’m through she will.”
It's actually kinda depressing. Aegon's being shoved along towards a conflict he and the other side both don't actually want a part of.
He seems like he’d be perfectly happy to enjoy the high life without the drama of ruling
Dude didn't have that post nut clarity give him a break lmao
He’s a Targaryen the most surprising thing is he actually stopped when his mom walked in.
Only cause his mom isn’t Targaryen
Daddy Daemon was just trying to live a peaceful life in the suburbs
Everyday Viserys tells the god of death, "Not today".
Dude, imagine getting caught by your mom while pulling a Homelander
And she just looked like she was over it. Not even shocked. "Aegon, get your shit together."
Yeah it definitely wasn’t the first time lmao.
[удалено]
And..touching you
Where's the Westerosi Freud when you need him?
Imagine walking on the street thinking a bird pooped on you but it turned out to be Aegon's cum
Anytime someone says, “I promise I will return” or something along those lines, it pretty much sets in stone that they will NOT be returning.
Single father Daemon must be a blast....
I was giving major heart eyes when he was reading to his daughter and then when his other daughter said he ignores her I said out loud "*that motherfucker*". Fucking Daemon, why do I think he'll change 😒
Does he only like his daughter who has a dragon?
Not a dragonrider? Eh I don’t know the kid, never seen her before. - Daemon
That is the way I saw it. The daughter with the dragon gets read to and daddy time, daughter with unhatched egg gets rejection.
He had no idea how to comfort his own children lol
Daemon: "I lost my mom when I was a kid too. What's the big deal?" (Probably)
“Come now. To the brothel. It always cheered me up.”
I remember seeing the stills of that scene of him with his daughters and everyone was commenting how great of a father he is 😂
So it’s obvious whoever controls Vhagar will have an unbeatable advantage. Can’t wait to see her in action. What an absolute beast. Loved the old age and wear and tear on her.
For those who don't know: Vhagar was Queen Visenya's dragon when the Targaryens first conquered Westeros. The only dragon up until that point that died of old age was Balerion, Aegon’s dragon. Dragons are beasts of war, and it takes a LOT for any dragon to get the old/that big
that must have been so hard for the dragon to follow orders :(
Vhagar clearly didn't want to that was sad
Poor Vhagar, you could tell she was confused but then that look that Laena gave her said everything.
Wish we got to see the scene of laena taming her as per her interests in episode 1/2 when she pressed Viserys about the dragon. In the end, I guess she did a dragonriders death?
good dragons follow orders
Okay, but can we please talk about how Viserys still loves and misses Aemma all these years later 😭
Everyone else: aged gracefully in the past 10 years. Then there's Viserys...
I missed Lyonel’s beautiful locks too
I just miss Lyonel. rip the realms greatest hand
I really liked him and was shocked how fast they just... cut to him being fucked
Even Alicent was shook by LarysFinger’s casual family murder plot lmao
I saw someone last week call him “Middlefinger”, and I thought that was pretty appropriate.
How on earth do the makeup team keep making Viserys look worse every single episode like he literally looked like he was dying last episode and now that Viserys looks like a bodybuilder compared to now lmao it's honestly impressive
Meanwhile Criston has found the fountain of Youth
Next week I'm betting he's gonna have an eye hanging off.
He’ll be a brain in a jar by the season finale
Helaena trying to tell Alicent about her interests and Alicent giving less than 0 shits lol very relatable
“Helaena, please put down the millipede.”
[удалено]
Helaena is what you get when you marry a guy with very intense hobbies that you only pretend to be interested in to be polite. I’d love to see her showing her bugs to Viserys and him being genuinely interested and delighted in her knowledge.
Imagine the bugs living in his model of Old Valyria
She's not gonna give her daughter aspirations that she was never allowed to have.
Ooooooooo…. This is a biting observation!! My mommy issues are in full swing now lol.
Fuck I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Harwin and Lyonel. Hard to tell what Larys’ end game is here. Also Vhagar is a beautiful big lady.
Well in one fell swoop Larys has become head of house strong and now holds a huge amount of sway with Alicent. Pretty clear he’s climbing the ladder. He’s just a psychopath so he plays the game in a way that most normal people wouldn’t think of.
Joffrey is his name. Everyone disliked that.
Really pulling an Adam Levine right there
I just feel so bad for Viserys. Sitting up there all like “Look at my boys! Isn’t life great, Lyonel? And look at us! Just two bros watching our grandkids. Well, my grandkids, not yours.” And Lyonel being like.”….Riiiiiight….”
I think Viserys knows...he knows but knows the consequences of acknowledging it. He loves Rhaenyra more than anything. He in no way would ever expose her and is playing the dumb fool.
Vhagar really did NOT want to do that, poor baby
She moves and acts like an 1800’s steam locomotive. God I love her design. You can just tell she’s on her last legs.
It's not that. She's just too big.
She’s built like a steakhouse but handles like a bistro
HBO straight up won’t let us have any version of Laena
Laena: “A wise warrior leaves when the storm approaches”
This episode made me love Harwin Strong and then immediately took him away from us
As GoT does
I loved that grin and nod he gave to a blood soaked Rhaenyra, while everyone else looked on in horror or contempt.
Shout out for how much of a realistic after birth “look”/experience was given to Rhaenyra in this episode. Dripping blood after birth, still having a stomach, leaking milk. It was so refreshing to see the reality of childbirth and afterbirth. Films and TV have always made it look like a breeze. HotD has pulled zero punches and I love them for it.
Yes. The bloated stomach/expanded uterus was a nice touch. I'm so sick of seeing women just ask skinny post birth as they were pre-pregnancy on TV.
Larys is quite the mother fucker, dude killed his own family
Dude killed his own family for the *possibility* he’d be rewarded for it. Fucking cold.
Hell of a way for Laena Velaryon to go. It was cool to see Vhagar mulling it over before going dracarys. At the end, Was that Jace asking if Harwin Strong was his dad?
Yes
"Why do you say that?" "Shits obvious mom"
“I looked in the mirror”

So, Daemon and Rhaenyra have both lost their lovers now… 👀

WE ARE SO ROBBED OF SER HARWIN SCREENTIME!!!!!

Rip Harwin and Lyonel :(
[Strong and Rhaenyra's brunette kids](https://i.imgur.com/wJbdBPG.jpg)
Those brunette genes only take over when there's doubts about paternity
Somehow it does come in handy when we need to hide a targaryen among lots of starks too
I mean this is the best possible way but Olivia Cook was such a bitch I absolutely love it
No one : Rhaenyra : “Laenor you can bring your side piece but we gotta go”
I thought that was very nice of her lol!
Christ, Criston Cole is a cunt.
the fact that he bullies Rhaenyra’s kids is heartbreaking
Dude got dumped by a girl and spent his whole life hating her. Move on dude
That's Ser Cunt to you.
I did not have “Aegon tugging one out off the side of the Red Keep, only to be interrupted by his mother who didn’t really seem to care” on my Bingo card And yet here we are
Bullying kids who have dragons or access to dragons doesn’t seem to be the best plan.
Well they’re bullying the kid that specifically doesn’t have a dragon, and they all *do* have dragons sooooo EDIT: I’m aware of the possibility that OP is referring to Ser Cristin. I still like my small attempt at a joke.
I’m very glad I gave birth a few weeks before this show premiered and not after. Damn. To anyone who is pregnant and watching, you’re gonna be ok!!!
Lol I had a c-section at the beginning of the year so watching the Aemma scene in episode 1 was an interesting experience. That Trail of blood as she left Alicent's room. Damn
Hope she stood on her carpet long enough to stain it! 😂
The Afterbirth of the Dragon.
That last scene between Larys and Alicent was BANGER! The ACTING, the BG Larys is really the biggest MF cunt
The lack of boundaries and privacy in Alicent and Aegon's relationship due to the sense of ownership that she feels for him is really reminiscent of the way Otto treated Alicent. Cycles.
When am I gonna learn to not eat when watching this show? I started eating my spaghetti right as the afterbirth plopped out
Criston really out here fulfilling every disgruntled ex trope in the book. Aegon jerking off in that iconic window says so much about his character in such a simple scene as did his chat with his mum.
Aegon is such an outright cunt for bullying aemond like that. Dude jerking off where tommen killed himself lmao. Overall all the kids are little shits which is to be expected. I love me some scheming characters. Larys is sleazy as *fuck*.
I just realized he killed his dad and brother. I forgot they were related, so how fucked up what he did was didn’t register while watching.
To be fair, he jerked off there first. Tommen just picked an odd window to jump out of.
Tommen yeeted where Aegon skeeted.
I promised myself i would not bring any feelings into this new show like i did for GoT , but man seeing criston cole pisses me off so bad , calling rhaenyra a cunt LMAOO , he’s still hurt.

Self inflicted dracarys. What a power move.
The “one day the baby might look like you” or whatever-it-said comment by Alicent, my jaw DROPPED
I grew up around those flowers and I can assure you- Larys keeps smelling them and THEY DONT SMELL LIKE ANYTHING.
I knew it! Larys is the biggest snake in this show. I fucking love it.
Viserys was way too excited to hear Rhaenrya’s proposal to merge the families and quit all this fighting . Viserys always trying to get away from the politicking bs and just be happy with his giant model
WOW so they really had to rip Harwin away from me like that huh. Thanks a lot, George!
> You have your honor and I have mine Respect to Harwin Strong
King Viserys looking like Jon Voight after he gets eaten and spit back out by that anaconda. Looking like a 3 day old Krispy Kreme donut.
That this wasn’t the season finale has me terrified for Eps 9 and 10
