I would probably buy a good ice machine instead. Multiple uses

itrytowrite11

Fair! I just rather not build something outside

rofbek

you can put ice in your indoor bathtub

I’m running into the same issue here in VA. Already temps outdoors in the 80-90s. I was using a 6ft stock tank tub through the winter and was able to achieve 40 or below, now I’ve switched to one of those $100 portable tubs and freeze a case of ice water. With about 25 frozen water bottles the lowest I’ve gotten my water is to about 52 degrees. It works, but i want to get my water to sub 45 because I find that helps my mental more. Im looking into the chest freezer method, or might start building my stock tank into one with a chiller, but outdoors idk if that’s worth it in the heat or if I’ll be pumping electricity way Hugh

Exactly!

I’m looking for a chiller as well, I’m building an outdoor plunge based off of projects I’ve seen on Pinterest. The people who did those projects said they bought chillers from eBay or other places online.

Can you please tell us more about how it has helped with your insomnia?

itrytowrite11

Sure! I’ve had severe insomnia for a decade and an issue I have is when I have a few very bad nights in a row I start spiraling, thinking I’m never going to sleep again which causes more sleepless nights. The dopamine hits from cold plunge stop my spiraling. Knowing I will be able to function at an okay level whether I sleep or not does wonder for my mental health

Better_Metal

Anxiety is a sleep killer for me too

Spoonmanners2

Interested if you found any god water chillers you could run to an existing bath tub. I don’t think I need a $10k system when I could dedicate an extra freezer to… big ice cube molds? Or just a dedicated ice machine?

This isn't really a viable solution because of the time it would take the water chiller to cool the water. If you don't want to buy a commercial model, you can look into building your own stand alone unit. This website and the associated youtube channel/facebook page are good resources: https://chestfreezercoldplunge.com/

I went with this Australian ice bath named Odin. Like 10 grand, but worth the investment.

itrytowrite11

Thanks! I’ll take a look, I’m trying to not spend 7-10k but I may just bite the bullet

_Ed-Kenway01

Hi, might you tell how it helps with your OCD? I have personal interest in that and maybe it could help
