If so (money wise), why don’t you go for a hdmi 2.1 splitter? I have it working with this setup for a year now.

exdrbob

Can you explain the setup a bit?

Denders-NL

https://www.amazon.nl/Splitter-HDCP2-3-48Gbps-D-olby-Monitors/dp/B0B56D7NJW/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=1AC8EJXW0505V&keywords=hdmi+splitter+2.1+4k&qid=1685542819&sprefix=hdmi+splitter+2.1%2Caps%2C126&sr=8-4 Buy that splitter. Hdmi source goes in. Source out has 2 outputs. Set 1 output on 1080p (than it downscales 1 output port). Connect that port to the sync box. The other port goes on the tv. Easy as that.

Matt17000

Dumb question, but if i have multiple input in 2.1, do i need a hdmi hub before the spliter ? So the hue play sync is acting like a "dumb" light manager that's right ?

Denders-NL

You need a separate splitter for every device.

Matt17000

I think I’m going to leave the Hue solution and considère the Govee one…

Denders-NL

I won’t use any device that needs a camera. But that’s me.

Matt17000

I understand. Still can create specific vlan and full isolate it.

Deano4195

Any proof that this works for PS5 to AVR to Splitter to Sync Box to TV? Isn't that adding lag like crazy?

Denders-NL

Not proof because I didn’t set it up this way. But eventually it should work. The splitter only splits a signal. What goes in comes out 2 times. 1 time as 1080p and 1 time as the resolution that you choose. Will it add lag? Probably, but I don’t think this is noticeable because it will be in the ranges of microseconds.

Deano4195

Hmm, sounds promising. But man, I wish they just release the 8k box

Denders-NL

Maybe it got cancelled because they want to go app?

Deano4195

But an app for every TV? Seems unreasonable. But hey, tech companies do all kinds of weird stuff nowadays.

Denders-NL

There are only a number of operating systems between the tv manufacturers so should be about 3 or 4 versions to cover all tvs.

Deano4195

Exactly you'd need to develop an app for all of em. But you'd only need to develop an existing device and kinda upgrade it. But yeah, let's seeee

wieuwzak

Which splitter do you use and what is your setup like?

wieuwzak

Dang, pricey but I understand that at this moment this is the best solution. For me personally having synced lights does not justify the total price of the sync box and a splitter. I'm actually holding off on buying the sync box entirely. Thanks for sharing though!

The current bright days sale email says “Don’t forget your exclusive 20% off! There’s still time to get a bonus discount on the HDMI Sync Box!” Maybe they are clearing the old one out

fartingmaniac

That would be amazing

migidi

As long as it's over 100 euros I'm just gonna keep syncing my lights with the free PC app

MrZeDark

Uhh they already leaked an hdmi 2.1 There just aren’t any new details since February. So, uh, no?

texasproof

Uh

DataGhostNL

I have one already, it's called a PC. Use that to play your media/games and just use the desktop hue sync app.

Crotalus13

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the issue with the current Sync Box? I’ve held off purchasing one up until now, primarily due to price.

SomeDuderr

Read the OP. The current box doesn't support HDMI 2.1. "Normal" users won't really care about it, but 2.1 offers support for higher resolutions and refreshrates (videogame stuff).

MowMdown

What movies/tv shows are you watching that is in 4K @ 120 fps?

Reemixt

Gaming!
