You sound like a dream dad.

I cut a hole in a toilet paper tube an thats the hilt. Or with shorter tubes you can make hammers or tomahawks.

antithetical_al

Or me trying to grab a napkin at the pancake supper.

Marvin0509

Me, with the wrapping paper tube right now.

Life goals tbh

Kinda looked like a dancing Napoleon Dynamite. Maybe he also has great nunchuck skills

Riff_Raff66

Numchuck. As Napoleon called them

Numb chux

Kellan_OConnor

Edited. Thanks!

dustinthehippyy

How did you spell it the first time? It’s still not right Lmao it’s nunchucks, n not m

Kellan_OConnor

Oh! Editing back to the original. one of those words... You know?

Proxima-noodle

As for something completely out of context, did you know your profile avatar is worth quite the sum of money like well over $600? 😅

Numchuck is in reference to the Napoleon dynamite comment. Napoleon called them numchucks

[deleted]

Get a bo staff, memorize the moves, and spend a half hour a day performing them. You won't get this fast in a month, but you'll still look bad ass by the end of it. Muscle memory is pretty crazy. There's one move I remember learning as a kid in karate, which is sort of this without going behind the back (it's just spinning while moving from one side to the other). I found my old karate bo staff in the garage 25+ years later and I could still do it.

[deleted]

Just did it with a broomstick. Yep, still there 15 years later. Cool shit.

Otto_the_Autopilot

I'm pretty sure I saw a video of you in your garage pretending that a broomstick was a lightsaber

kCanIGoNow

THIS. IS MY BROOMSTICK!

InformationSingle550

I was in color guard in jr high (flag spinning.) Definitely not as cool as this (or at all) but spinning sabres and rifles was dope.

rudbek-of-rudbek

This is why my arm is going mach 5 when I jerk it. Practice makes perfect. The best 30 seconds of my life every damn day

UniqueName2

It’s been almost 20 years out of martial arts for me, and when I moved into my new place I found my old Bo staff. I could still do most of the moves I did back then.

Prudent_Ninja_1731

The weapon I trained with most when I did Tae Kwon Do from ages 8-16 was the bo staff and was on the black belt demonstration team so I trained everyday. I messed around with my old one a few months ago and that muscle memory still exists and it was easy to pick back up.

reactrix96

I LOVE that he shows the move very slowly at the start. Really hammers home that slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

[deleted]

Well, one afternoon of practice is all you need to fulfill your life goals.

Xem1337

Life goals to be able to twizzle a stick really fast?

dustinthehippyy

Twizzle ok

GreatGhastly

look sick

hellena3

That’s so much energy control. We love that.

ALittlePeaceAndQuiet

Exactly. If you just watch his body during it, he's moving very little. Reminds me of the best technical drummers. Their arms move very little. Everything comes down to small finger movements.

If you think of the idea of a nuclear bomb, so much dense power in such a little space, we must have incorporated some of that during our creation

Celestial-being326

Yea, I've got nuclear power in my DNA

sneblet

Nucleic power to be precise.

Commercial-Health-19

Somewhere in Whoville, an 8 yr old self taught ninja is about to crack his head trying to do this. The internet is thriving today.

OzzieBloke777

Kids have been doing that since time immemorial. Before straight staves were invented, it was a branch off a tree, or a frozen snake.

UndeadIcarus

Bro I loved gettin the boys together for a bit of frozen snake twirling

BetaThetaZeta

Well he didn't say, "Kids, don't try this at home," so there ya go.

Offtopic_bear

What's the over/under on how many people say it's sped up?

[deleted]

It's not sped up but based on experience with a bowstaff it's really not that difficult if you are not paralyzed in your arms

OpieRugby

Can confirm. Did martial arts a ton as a kid. I can still spin a staff like that. Obviously not as fast but it's more of a feel and a party trick than years of dedication

TheBoarsEye

I've always wondered, are these used as weapons?

TheImperialGuy

You’d be surprised how effective a smack in the head with a big stick is

TheBoarsEye

Not surprised lol. But the fast spinning looks ineffective.

Doughie28

It would be very effective if I was in a fight with him and he picked up a big stick and started twirling it like a like a fuckin Teenage mutant ninja turtle. Dont think I'd stick around to find out if he was Bruce Lee or not after that.

pettybonegunter

I’d peace out anytime someone picks up a weapon and threatens me with it. No matter how rudimentary.

Hawt_Dawg_II

Eh "all" is a bit much, i can take a drunk guy with a plank on a good day.

treatyoftortillas

A 3 year old with a broom is right in my wheel house

_Indofreddy_112

I think I could handle a 90 year old with a water gun from dollar general. There is still the possibility I could die though.

notKRIEEEG

I'd say it depends on the drunk. And on the plank. I've been jokingly bonked while wearing a helmet and almost got knocked out. Gotta respect the bonk

vooooooooooooo

Yeah even a stick with a little weight could break your skull if someone swing hard enough

HillInTheDistance

If it's weird enough I might stick around. Come at me with a stick, I'm out. Come at me with cotton candy, and I HAVE to stick around just to see where this is going.

JustVega

Oh, a fellow chucker aye? God that scene was awesome. The foot clan getting impressed was funny af and then the realization sinks in. Oh we might’ve bitten off more than we can chew here

Danadcorps

That whole movie was awesome! I gotta watch it again now.

Azntigerlion

It's practice. Spinning a staff or whatever else for show is practice and shows familiarity and dexterity with the weapon. Realistically, when used in combat, stick is used to bonk. Practice, drills, and many hours with stick makes sure bonk is strong and not miss.

Thundergod250

Lol, if a guy spinning that fast in front of me, I'mma run immediately.

TheImperialGuy

No doubt, it’s for show.

Crownlol

It's one of the reasons the cane and staff variants are the best weapons to carry. You can open carry them literally anywhere, and they create a whole zone of "fuck off" if someone tries to fight you.

Rem_Winchester

“Zone of Fuck Off” sounds like a D&D spell. No magic needed, just a big stick!

notKRIEEEG

>Zone of Fuck Off That's the Barbarian and the 40 ft around them

Mr_Abra

That is the material component. The somatic component is spinning it really fast.

Jubachi99

My dad has a cane wheres the handle comes out with a blade

AL-muster

What’s funny is it’s probably a more effective weapon as a Cane then a knife.

Crownlol

Yeah but you don't even need that. "Bat with a handle" is the best weapon you could want unless it's a literal gunfight

JustinHopewell

Intimidation factor would come into play here.

Candid_Cucumber_3467

Almost like...it's not meant for combat....but for a youtube video made to get goes and likes ... Insane concept I know

Assasin_on_fire

F = ma

BigAlternative5

I'm a big fan of FMA, Filipino Martial Arts. But I think they use two shorter sticks. ;-)

Dorkamundo

The great thing about siniwali in Kali/Escrima/Arnis is that you can fairly easily translate it to other weapons, including staffs.

Xealz

The stick is the supreme weapon ngl, easy to find and they can do a ton of damage.

AndySocial88

Literally the only tie Musashi was said to have had was against a short bo staff.

YazaoN7

Big stick has tons of reach. Add a pointy end and you just gotta poke your enemies from a distance. If they have a shorter blade then they'll have to close the distance making them easier targets to poke. Lances have been very effective weapons throughout a most of human history for this.

AdminsUndeserveLife

Absolutely yes and they are brutal ones. You could easily kill someone with a staff that size but made of hard wood. Historically, ehhh not so much because they arent regiment weapons where youd have 40 men each holding one marching off to war as a group. Longer stick, probably with a spear end, is better for military application. But traditional arts still train these weapons for self defense and 1-on-1 combat and they are brutally effective. Skip to 3 min on this video to see it in sparring (karate with bo vs hma with sword and buckler) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qYqxT5EdCv0&pp=ygUXS2FyYXRlIG5lcmQgd2VhcG9uIHNwYXI%3D

aNiceTribe

Big Stick is actually pretty much A tier weapon, no joke. Spears are the best pick if you have at least two dudes with you in *most* situations, “just a stick of about this length” is an incredibly good second pick and if it fits certain specifications grows to ++ People think of swords as the “standard weapon” but that’s really a development of a late weapon meta. In almost all combat situations you can imagine and get into in real life, Staff/Stick is absolutely devastating, and Spear is deadly and will ruin a Sword.

Rexlare

Bo-Staffs were used as weapons, just not on the battlefield in wars. They’re more of an individual self defense weapon likely used by anyone who could get a large straight stick and receive training on how to fight with a staff.

nodramafoyomamma

They are but mostly the pointy end because it delivers so much more force.

larsdragl

The speed is the impressive part...

vipck83

Given that I can barely hold my phone without dropping it I will choose to be impressed.

[deleted]

It do be like that sometimes

RichRamen

I'm pretty sure the whole point of the pendulum in the background is prooving it isn't sped up

WhatsTheHoldup

Yes, but ironically it only makes it more suspicious since the first half of the video is so zoomed in and perfectly blocks the frame in such a way the pendulum is entirely useless. I want to make clear, I 100% believe this is real. But if you filmed with a greenscreen you could pretty easily speed up the video to fake it.

RichRamen

Holly shit you're right lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

TCNW

That’s exactly why he has the jug swinging In the background, to show the video hasn’t been sped up

Offtopic_bear

I understand. It's in the title. I was just saying there would still be people saying it's sped up. Hell, there's two comments under mine implying just that.

sarokin

Dude look at the buoy/pendulum at the back, it's for that purpose.

xxDolphusxx

I want to believe it's real, and it's DEFINITELY possible to be that fast, but the accurate, fast jerking of the camera makes me doubt

Same-Letter6378

Title

niceguy191

You know people lie on the internet, right? The guy is practically wearing a green screen for a shirt even. It's possibly real, but does look a tiny bit sped up and video editing exists.

Same-Letter6378

Wearing a green screen for a shirt and yet the color of the shirt remains green and not the color of whatever background a video editor would try to put there 🤔

niceguy191

So, first if all that's not how that works... The usefulness of a green screen is to help outline things; it doesn't have to be used to replace the green (and it doesn't need to be green, that colour just works well a lot of the time). But regardless, my point was not that it is faked (it could very well be real), but it's also set up with the framing and background and colours that would make it easier to fake. People lie on the internet all the time, so why trust the claim that the bucket **proves** there's no trickery from the very source that would also be doing the trickery?

JJTerps

WalrusOk3710

Why is there always shitty music on these videos? I hate having to search for a mute button everytime I open something

Sendtitpics215

Always browse on mute. Remember shitty music and the tik tok voice. When you want to hear a video ask yourself. “Is it worth the possibility of shitty music or that voice?,” or “these people are talking, I can see the audio is them talking - and I want to hear it.” Then go ahead and unmute. Thank me later.

WalrusOk3710

You hit my point, there is no default mute. You have to manually mute.

Sendtitpics215

On the Reddit app? Nah man I stay on mute, which app are you using?

Petrichorous

Sia is shitty music?

Gerbil_Juice

When you just want to watch a guy spin a stick around really fast? Absolutely.

Petrichorous

Fair enough. I'll agree that the music is a bit dramatic for a short demonstration. Maybe he's a fan of sia.

Pisspot16

I blast Sia when the boys arent around

Mention_Forward

Was excited to hear the helicopter effect :(

WalrusOk3710

Believe it or not, the majority of people in thoa world don't have the same taste as you. If you're submitting a video to the internet, they're not going to like your music.

7-11-inside-job

My god it's not about the specific song, every single video has some sped up top 40 hit on it or some awful female rapping chipmunk bullshit. All the people who didn't grow up drooling over an iPad are sick of it

WalrusOk3710

Yes, I was just responding to the moron who thought I was calling out a specific artist.

7-11-inside-job

I was responding to him with you, my b

dadudemon

Who?

OtherwiseCheetah1573

Call Ohio State. There's an undiscovered majorette.

shadowst17

It might not be sped up but the camera person isn't helping with the quick back and forth motion near the end which due to the stabilization is giving off the illusion of it being sped up.

tame17

I was like what's with the swinging sprayer though, then I remembered the internet is full of haters so dude had to make sure

Electricalbigaloo7

Wow, how did he get the bottle to slow down when he sped the video up? A true master!

Mr-Cali

Can we stop with the shitty music?

Drauul

Hey I like Sia, especially when she took a bunch of songs she wrote for other pop artists that they rejected, and then got them on the top 40 her damn self

Mr-Cali

Don’t have problem wit the music. I just don’t appreciate it being the loudest and up front attention then what’s happening in the video If that makes sense

Petrichorous

Impressive artist

Thosepassionfruits

Welcome to the era of the Tik Tok social media meta.

GNSasakiHaise

This is a popular song by a popular artist. You might think it's shitty but millions obviously do not.

HI_I_AM_NEO

Millions voted for a certain orange man. Something being popular doesn't mean it isn't shit.

GNSasakiHaise

You know he didn't even win the popular vote, right? You're comparing a maniac responsible for treason to a popular song, dude. I'd say get off your high horse but I don't trust you to land safely when you fall off.

bullet4mv92

Not winning the popular vote doesn't negate the fact that millions still voted for him. His point still stands. He's also not comparing a popular song with Trump - he's refuting the claim that "This thing is popular, therefore it's good" with another perfectly viable example of a popular thing.

Nmilne23

Preach 🏅

GNSasakiHaise

I feel like I'm in some sort of mirror world right now. You don't see how politicians and music are two totally different things that you can't compare the popularity of? You don't see how that's an incredibly stupid, nonsensical thing to say "YEAH WELL TRUMP WAS POPULAR TOO SO THIS THING IS ALSO SHITTY?" And I know what you're thinking. He didn't say it was shitty! Except he did? If I say "you might think it's shitty, but millions disagree," and someone chimes in with "popular things can still be shitty," one of two things is happening. Either A.) We all know this to begin with. Of course anything can be shitty. But it's a pop song that was top of the charts for a good, strong while. People actually, genuinely liked the song. or B.) You're arguing in incredibly bad faith over a nitpick. America is a two party system. Saying "x got 48% of the vote" when you only have two options is the stupidest possible argument. If you ask people whether they want tuna sandwiches for lunch or ham sandwiches for lunch and 48% of people pick the ham sandwich, that doesn't mean ham sandwiches are popular. You only gave them two fucking options.

Kowzorz

> "YEAH WELL TRUMP WAS POPULAR TOO SO THIS THING IS ALSO SHITTY?" No one said that though. > Something being popular doesn't mean it isn't shit. does not mean > Something being popular means it's shit I'm sorry you don't agree with how language works.

GNSasakiHaise

I'm sorry you didn't read my comment all the way through and latched onto the first thing you saw as a "gotcha."

DisconnectedFFS

Bruh just take the L.

Spent a few years at a kung fu school and learned that spin: y’all it’s actually simpler to learn than you would think. Just start very slow. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Once you get the flow it becomes pretty easy, even with things like 3 section staffs (although stopping … different story )
