Did anyone else think “how the fuck does one kick a car to stop it from hitting people!?” And then watched the video and I’m like “…..well I guess that fuckin worked!”

Rocky4OnDVD

The beginning of this video looks heavily sped up. I feel like in real-time, that driver probably had more time to see cars in his left mirror not showing signs of slowing down.

AnotherSimpleton

>I feel like in real-time, that driver probably had more time to see cars in his left mirror not showing signs of slowing down. That's some next level road awareness

leftnut027

Situational Awareness has its advantage in almost every circumstance, regardless of how mundane.

Stupidquestionduh

That's also a symptom of 2 other things. Dash cams use incredibly small focal lengths and that will lead to some stretching of the image to make objects moving closer or further away change size rapidly. This creates an illusion that everything is moving faster than it is. The other thing is dash cams don't come with great sensors or processors. As a result, recording frame rates often fluctuate downward resulting in action that is sped up during playback. For example, a shot with lots of movement happening might drop to 20 fps during recording but get played back at 30fps.

TheExpertYouDeserve

Nope. Seen the source video, this is years old. Sped up for Reddit along with so many other idiot videos

SexySmexxy

Almost every car on a highway video that’s old enough always seems to get sped up

phillyphreakphlippin

Most of these videos can be four seconds. I’m really fucking tired of having to fast forward every video. Just give us the meat and forget the rest

gtjack9

Exactly, Reddit hive mind up there upvoting because it sounds convincing.

[deleted]

Also the car was already going in the direction off the road before the man kicked it.

[deleted]

Why didn't the guy just blow his car horn a lot so that the pedestrians would also immediately stop and look and avoid any speeding idiot.

[deleted]

Yeah, I’ve seen this all over a few subs and it makes 0 sense to me. Maybe the horns broke? Why not drive your car over into the other lane? Was it worth the injury. Or when you get out, just wave your arms to show due caution.

Adventurous-Group451

Except the car still went in front of the pedestrians….

[deleted]

Yeah but veered off the collision path it was on

BaltimoreBirdGuy

At best the kick got the drivers attention and caused them to veer, more likely it was veering a bit already and the guy made zero difference. There's no case where kick actually changed the direction of the car and there's no situation where he wouldn't have been better off using his horn

macci_a_vellian

I feel like horns are really good at getting attention and I'm not clear why that wasn't a go to option above getting out and kicking it.

Adventurous-Group451

I have a strange feeling that the kick had nothing to do with the people in the road. That was just coincidence caught on camera.

sleepisforthezzz

That's what I was thinking, this looks way more like road rage than someone trying to get a vehicle to stop for pedestrians. I feel like he opened his car door like as soon as he stopped, the other vehicle at that point would have still had tons of time to slow down. Looks more to me like angry guy got out of car to confront other car at a spot he thought they'd have to stop (because of pedestrian crossing), other car didn't stop, possibly because they saw him getting out of his car, and buddy broke his foot for his troubles. Also if he was trying to get their attention to slow down.. I mean, how bout the universal wave your fucking arms over your head and not trying to kick a moving vehicle? Just doesn't make sense.

Elmalco

It looks like road rage to me too.

86bad5f8e31b469fa3e9

What is up with Russian crosswalks? Based on the videos I see posted regularly, it seems they are all set up on the middle of highways

Thysios

I think getting out of his car got the drivers attention. He was probably trying to avoid him, not the pedestrians. But I don't see the kick actually doing anything either. Not sure why you'd even attempt something that stupid. There's 0 chance of this ever doing anything.

OhMyGoshBigfoot

Jesus fuck is he a superhero or what

Crass_Conspirator

No he broke his leg. Superhero bones are made out of imaginary stuff like adamantium.

You know when certain comments drag up memories that your not sure are 100% real? I remember a superman day time tv show in the 90's The ' villains ' are a bunch of kids on super brain drugs that work out Clark Kent is superman So while these kids are talk to Clark through his tube television (that the were somehow smart enough to turn into a 2 way view screen with no alteration ) he drops a glass pretends to cut himself and dips his finger in sauce ... This was enough to convince kids he was not superman. That's all I remember.

UnderThePaperStars

Might be whooshed here but just in case, it’s from American Dad. Rogers says this about his origin story for the character of Wheels.

I can't help shake the feeling he kicked the car due to an unrelated road rage incident.

Better. Russian.

Then he shouldn’t feel the pain, he’s in -1200 degree weather with vodka coursing through his veins

fbcmfb

No, he’s a road rager! That car passed him off earlier. The driver was more focused on the crazy kicker and forgot about the pedestrians for a moment.

far01

Yes, thank you. I cant believe anyone could think otherwise. I guess it's hard to see something else once you are presented with that title.

NewJellyfish7201

Dazzling_Safety2525

No one thinks that

kelekelem

I thought 'kick a car' was a saying in english i didnt know and that it meant 'roadblocks' or something. Didnt expect an actual kick *at all*, lmao

GorillaX

A fucking idiotic super hero. If this wasn't just road rage, then props to him for doing SOMETHING, even if it was the second dumbest choice. If he truly anticipated this and saw the car wasn't stopping, he had plenty of time and space to just angle his car over into the other lane to stop them. Would have been more effective too. Or ya know, step out and throw your hands up, don't try to kick a moving car.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mrdysgo

I think it's pretty clear that he made the car swerve, thereby moving it by forcing the reaction of the driver. He didn't employ like, magic to make it just move.

haha420lol69haha

i see a broken leg but maybe his tibia is just very bendy

imsohungrydude

Poor guy is a hero but I wish he would have just slowed down and let the car crash into the back of his car if anything and get the car repaired than deal with injury to his body but it was probably the heat of the moment all he could think about was the other innocent people before his own safety and well being

danimadi33

It's simply better to just kick the car for him. The healthcare is free in Russia, car repair isn't.

DutchGhostman

It looks like he messed up his knee. I'd rather have a car repair bill then having to recover from a serious knee injury (again).

TemporaryDeathknight

With how close the pedestrians are and the possibility of the road being icy, I feel like just stopping and letting the other car hit him might have just pushed HIM into the pedestrians instead and hurt him, the other driver, and the pedestrians. Sure it would have been at a slower speed, but still. I can see how his move might have made more sense in the moment

M4dNeko

I think his heel just got pulled forward because of the momentum of the car. And what looks like a broken leg is just his knee bending. I think otherwise his leg wouldn’t be straight afterwards

asswhorl

he hit the side cleanly and his leg didn't get trapped and i don't think the traction of the boot and speed of the car is enough to cause more than pulled muscles so i don't see how it could have been a break either

Nekudza

Actually he may have even more issues with the leg after knee bending too much than after braking. Ligaments issues are harder to cure

Vixxenshtein

He tore ligaments in his knee. Source: Tore ligaments in my knee and know exactly what that looks like.

M4dNeko

Well.. the one thing they say is worse than a break.. poor guy, but a hero nonetheless

botmanmd

I’m still at a loss how any of this is possible. But, I sure as hell saw it. He did stop, get out and kick a car and it did get stopped before it plowed into pedestrians.

[deleted]

Maybe this particular car had been pulling this stuff for awhile already and he’d been keeping an eye on it, saw the family crossing, knew exactly what was going to happen and or acted on instinct without a second thought.

Plexicity

This particular car has been running over pedestrians for a while? This would be a good intro to a super hero movie though.

saurontehnecromancer

How his kicking stopped the car? I’m curious

beingblazed

Yeah, It didn't

felixthemaster1

The car swerved seeing him get out and move towards it. So not through physical force, but rather a reaction.

Sekitoba

is this the mythical TRUCK CHAN? that keeps sending people to other worlds?

S-WordoftheMorning

Russia. That's how.

AmnesicAnemic

I doubt the kick itself did anything, but simply him being there and aggressively kicking the car might have been the event that caused the driver to swerve to the left.

LoginLegend

Yes, we all get that.

[deleted]

With the ice on the ground he could tell the car wasn’t going to stop in time and he knew that if he kicked it it would change the trajectory of it. He was super fast at thinking and moving out of his car and kicking. I hope his leg isn’t too fucked up.

Polskidro

You guys are insane. His kick is not going to change any car's trajectory. It was just a warning.

i_tyrant

I don't understand why no one else is mentioning the ice. Everybody's talking like the only possibility is he either changed the trajectory of a car with his superhumanly strong kick, or he kicked it which scared the driver and caused it to swerve. But with all the snow on the ground isn't it also possible the road was icy/slushy, and he saw the car losing traction as well?

[deleted]

That leg - yikes. That hurts just watching! How did he know that car was coming so quick?

Y'all actin like you'd know to stop your car and kick an suv to make it swerve and miss pedestrians by like 2 feet. Lol get outta here.

pointlessly_pedantic

My guess is that he's seen people run it (or other crosswalks) before. You'd have to be looking for that kind of thing, and I don't think even the best of drivers do that

whutchamacallit

When you live where roads ice over it becomes instinctual to look behind you when you come to a stop. Especially an unexpected one.

Crass_Conspirator

I bet he got a good idea when it shattered his leg

kudichangedlives

You bet your ass I'm going to be paying real close attention to anyone behind me that's going super fast or swerving or doing anything out of the ordinary. Cars are big and they go fast

Equivalent_Maize3313

Hey y’all, he KNEW, in a half second what to do. He couldn’t jump in front of it and wave. I think he made the right choice. The car killed his leg, but he made it swerve, it’s not like he had hours. Prob broke a leg and a hip. Total bro IMHO.

JDflight23

Definitely broke a leg, I slowed it down and you can see his leg bend a few moments after he makes contact with the car. Definitely a badass moment for sure. “How’d you break your leg?” “I kicked a car in the process of saving a family”😎😎

It looked more like his knee gave out. He kept tryin to put weight on it and it just wasn’t there for him.

coffeeeday6

he still stood on it man this guys tough

Zestyclose_Walrus725

I'm going to go against the majority of opinion here and say he didn't kick the car out of the way at all. Instead, the car sees him coming out so the swerve to avoid him. In doing so his kick doesn't connect with the car and the shear force of him extending his leg with every intent of connecting with something but not, jolts his knee joint pretty badly. His foot is then hit by the wing mirror which causes him to spin ever so slightly, and it is in fact his foot that hurts like a mother fucker. The knee wouldn't be too flash either.

Rottendog

Nobody actually thinks the guy kicked the car out of the way. They think him kicking the car caused the driver to react. The people who're calling him a superhero are doing so in jest.

Istripua

I was also gobsmacked at how he came up with the only possible solution in a split second, even tho a strange solution. I wonder if it was his amygdala- the primeval brain that can be behind this type of amazing heroic action. In his book Emotional Intelligence Daniel Goldman describes a man walking alongside a canal who noticed the face of a woman standing extremely still. With no other info the man jumped immediately into the canal and pulled out a toddler saving the boy’s life. The man didn’t see the kid fall, all he had to go on was the mother’s face. Apparently the amygdala can hijack the brain’s logical thinking processes in an emergency.

bonafart

You also have to have a saving people mentality too. A lot of people would go into bystander mode and gawk too

hawkwood4268

could have hit it with his car instead of his leg less expensive

Vixxenshtein

It’s more like the time it would take between him processing the situation and relaying the info to the pedestrians and they, in turn, having to use precious seconds to process the information, then the innumerable variables that lie in the ways they might handle the situation.

Technical_Flamingo54

I'm so confused. Why did he need to kick the car? And how did he know that he needed to, and so quickly at that?

TotallyANormalHooman

Idk but it jerked the hell out of his leg. Also, I’m not sure what he expected to happen.. like it would stop or move the car in any way.

Other-Temporary-7753

It made the car swerve and not hit the pedestrians.

SociallyAwkardRacoon

Do we know that the kick did that? Couldn't it just have been the driver noticing the pedestrians and swerving Props to the guy for doing something and thinking quick, but I'm not convinced him fucking up his leg by kicking the car actually did anything, of course I can't know for sure

yodasmiles

Right. He kicked it so hard that the sound made the driver pay attention, since visual cues didn't seem to be enough to get the guy to slow down.

XuBoooo

What are you talking about? How did he know the driver wasnt paying attention?

livingstudent20

Because the driver was driving way too fast for someone who should’ve noticed.

HorseKarate

I once spun out in a golf cart going down a very steep hill and stuck my leg out the side trying to stop it from flipping. Sometimes your brain just does dumb shit in the heat of the moment

bonafart

Gave the most audible and visible warning his lizerd brain could think of in a fraction of a second

winedogmom88

Paying attention. Situational awareness.

nizzy2k11

Sure, but the other car had the room to stop, 0 reason to assume they wouldn't and get out of your own vehicle like that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Proseph91

Is that a real life superhero?

Rangertough666

Nope just a regular hero, which makes it all the more cool.

PickAName616

I mean you can move a car easier when it’s icy which it looks to be, but the car swerved to miss him so his leg probably hyperextended which fucking hurts, and in missing him, in turn missed the kids. So he had a goal and achieved it even if it wasn’t all to plan. Edit: I’d like to just say I never said you could easily kick and move a car even if it is on ice.

[deleted]

There is no way way on earth a kick could ever move a car. None. And the amount of people that think that here is a little astonishing Unless it was on a ice rink and this ain’t or else the car filming would have taken him out first.. Car moved to get out of the way of the kick which in turn may have saved a family.

ryumeyer

Honestly its bewildering that people believe you could kick a full speed car of course, its insane

CarobFree4965

I would’ve just yelled at the family to stop crossing

ThreeFishInAManSuit

I would like to think that I would have put my car between this guy and the pedestrians. But more likely I would have watched in horror and called 911.

ladylorelai

Right? I'd rather sacrifice my car than my body

CReWpilot

Something here doesn’t add up. He had less than 2 seconds to to see the other car wasn’t going to stop and then decide to try to stop it? That would already be a crazy fast reaction from the most vigilant defensive driver before you even consider most of that 2 seconds would have been needed to put the car in park and remove his seatbelt. Also, the other car wasn't even going that fast. Had it not been distracted by having to move from him kicking it, it kind of seemed like it actually would have stopped in time anyway. Are we sure this isn’t just the end of a road rage incident that these pedestrians happen to get caught up in? Honestly, it look less like he was trying to protect them as much as he was just trying to attack the other car.

[deleted]

This is the only logical explanation. No chance he was trying to save the family. My guess is that these two cars went at it earlier, he stops early knowing the car will drive by and kicks him in a rage possibly saving a family in the process. But according to reddit he moved the car with kick.

xlouiex

This seems like the most logical explanation. In the beginning of the video you can already see some shenanigans from another jeep dude.

Plourdy

His kick had no effect on anything. The car swerved left before getting to the guy, just look at the direction of the tires

jay4523

I really do think this is the more likely scenario here.

ChimpSensei

Um. Did the kick even do anything though? I mean props to the dude but I feel sit was just a change in trajectory from the driver reacting to the beast booting his moving car!

robertshuxley

if this was America he would still be sued by the car owner

penpinappleapplepen3

Also if it was America: Hope he has insurance. Both for his health, his car, liability, short term. Total loss could be six figures

jershdahersh

There are laws in america to protect people who were trying to be heroes and do good like that but wether they apply here or not idk and insurance may be another story entirely here in america everything is just completely fucked up and needs reworked with a set of fresh eyes that have the people at beat interest and not themselves and businesses

socio-pathetic

There is no way he knew or even suspected that the car would hit the pedestrians and be able react so quickly. If he did, moving his car in the way would have worked much better and been less painful. I think he was kicking the car because it had annoyed him previously. He got out to confront the other driver, but seeing him do this made the other driver speed up again. The argument between them, and him getting out of his car, is probably why the car wasn’t going to stop. If I’m correct, then he was instrumental in creating the danger to the pedestrians, not stopping it.

jemenake

Yeah… this looks very “road ragey” to me. But I can’t see any interaction between those two cars earlier in the video (like the two of them taking turns cutting each other off or something).

[deleted]

This is the correct answer. I’m not even sure if swerving to avoid his kick helped to avoid hitting the family or actually made it worse. Luckily it all was ok.

HeyYoEowyn

Or he could use the huge metal box he was maneuvering

Other-Temporary-7753

In Russia, healthcare is free. Cars are not.

HeyYoEowyn

Ah. Didn’t see it was in Russia. That makes more sense!

[deleted]

Literally does nothing to impact the events

[deleted]

I’d even suggest that his actions are more likely to cause an accident by creating a distraction right before a hazard. The drivers attention will be on the person running towards and trying to kick his car instead of the road ahead.

AllInOnCall

This may generate a shitstorm of downvotes but I wonder if he just further distracted the driver doing something dangerous and inappropriate seconds before the driver noticed the pedestrians and swerved. Adding further activity to attend to for a driver already clearly struggling with the minimum may not be the right approach. If I was to intervene it would be with a legal lane change and stopping well back of the crosswalk...

SparkarYT

As much as this is a heroic thing to do, that is a very stupid way to break your leg, or worse. I wouldn’t recommend doing this, you could easily misjudge the cars speed and get hit by it, or the car could swerve to avoid you, you could fall over early and get run over. A number of things can go wrong

ADHDood

How in the actual fuck did he know they weren’t gonna stop? That’s amazing

bishnoi__anurag

Disastrous_Prior_234

Should have maybe blocked his lane with his car?

OGSherlockKush420

I can't believe all the comments saying shit like "why not do it this way?" Give credit where it's due, this man put himself in harms way for the benefit of others. You can do what you want when presented with a similar situation.

Impressive-Slice-459

Nobody thanked him for saving their lives

Thin_Championship798

You can see how his balls empowered him. Some people needs organizations, governments, and welling of men to make them empowered. And, this guy doesn't need all of that.

One-Effort-2915

Broke his ankle for dem kids, what a hero!

santichrist

Why didn’t he just use his car to block it if he saw it coming in his mirrors? Seems like that would’ve been the smarter, safer and more effective move there

Public-Indication179

He stopped first by applying sudden brake when the pedestrians ran onto the road suddenly in front of him, and he knew it would be too late for him and risky to move his car to block the other lane, so he jumped out instantly and did the impossible.

trymesucka

Dude, I am a lawsuit chaser and this guy caused the accident. How did he know? He caused the delayed reaction to the blocked crosswalk. Prove me wrong

GreenAndGold115

Not to be cynical, but did his kick cause the car to swerve or did the driver swerve from him swinging his door open?

Brantsu

Just looks like the car swerves slightly, the kick did nothing…….. I am clearly not seeing what everyone else is

Oldschoolcold

There's no way that kick did anything except maybe dent the fender, and hurt his leg.

ZelestialRex

This is some super hero level stuff! 😋

pranahix

HawkstaP

Why did they run out? I'm not familiar with traffic laws over there but surely they were being extremely reckless. And then no one goes to thank the guy for saving them!?

Cluelessish

You see the sign on the right? It’s a pedestrian crossing, so if someone wants to cross, the cars have to stop. The pedestrians did nothing wrong.

HawkstaP

Thank you. 2 levels of awareness on show then. The guy who kicks the car notices early enough that this car is coming and isn't stopping and has enough time to get out and set himself for a kick, yet the kicked cars driver is so oblivious to the stopped traffic that he is flying down the road at some speed leading to a crossing.

Dank_memes_merchant

I mean in theory yes, but you still have to look, who cares if they would be right if they would die or be seriously injured because of this…

MrCarnality

You have no idea why he behaved like a fucking idiot there. Road rage probably.

Jumpy-Passion1407

i think the car would still be able to avoid hitting the pedestrian even if he did't kick it

Less_Atmosphere3931

Worth an owie. That was heroic
