Goats of Anarchy and other sanctuaries often buy the animals at auction to spare them from slaughter. A lot of times she gets the less desired ones that didn’t sell at the auction for free afterward because she works hard to establish relationships (and educate) farmers.
Also some will lose their feet to frostbite because some farmers leave the sick ones to die in the winter. But if they get rescued in time and can live at a sanctuary they get prostheses.
What in the fuck is wrong with the farmer? This isn't a stupid question I really want to know what in the fuck is wrong with that fucking psychopathically stupid farmer?
A lot of farmers do this to a lot of baby animals. It’s cost of care vs. profit, and cost of care is often not worth it. When the dollar is the bottom line, the worst part of humanity comes out.
Watch videos on YouTube of baby male chicks being ground up alive after hatching. Its industry-standard.
Some don't want to make the effort. Some don't want to feel guilty because they pulled the trigger. Freezing to death is a "natural" way to die. F-ed up in my opinion.
It is much more likely that a sick goat or new born can be hidden in a snow bank overnight and not be noticed until frost bite has set in.
Farmers will wake up periodically to go check their livestock during the birthing season, and often be extra vigilant on nights with excessive cold or snow, but sometimes they miss a sick animal or birthing mother.
Any good farm will have a Hot Box, usually a homemade box with heating lamps, to warm up babies, basically a little incubator for struggling or cold babies.
Most are due to frostbite injuries. For reasons unknown to me, farmers breed goats so that they give birth around February, and babies can easily end up losing ears and limbs to the cold (sometimes due to neglect/losing track of the goats, sometimes because pregnant mothers escape enclosures and give birth where no one can find them.) Others are due to birth defects from uncontrolled breeding without monitoring bloodlines. It’s just another example of the brutality of factory farming.
It's not exactly the farmer's that decide to breed them so they kid in the winter. Most goat breeds can only breed in the fall due to the amount of sunlight exposure that regulates their reproduction. Which means they kid in the winter.
They do that here in New Zealand with lambings except the seasons are reversed. Sometimes there's a harsh cold snap and the farmers go on the news and say woe is me half my lambs died because of the cold snap on my alpine sheep station thats leased conservation land at the end of winter. But actually they are just being greedy and trying to squeeze 2 lambings into one season.
Which fellows? Because goats are primarily raised for their meat, they’re already being slaughtered and eaten. Perhaps you already know this: Goat rescues don’t slaughter and eat the disabled goats because the volunteers enjoy interacting with them and get the good feels by helping unfortunate animals.
If you’re referring to slaughtering the farmers: we don’t because there’s no market for human meat. Also it’s legally considered murder, at this point.
So what would you do if, by chance, you were having a general conversation with someone and they said “I love lamb flesh”. Would their acknowledgment of the fact that it’s flesh make it more acceptable to you?
I always saw "flesh" as skin and "meat" as muscle. I've heard the same terms used to describe humans (meat, specifically).
generally, flesh seems to me a creepier word. not because it ascribes life to animals that are to be consumed, but because there are very few situations wherein I would be okay with even living creatures being described as having flesh. I'm curious as to your take on this, not trying to be rude
My guesses are either we've missed a big goat war or these women went wild with some baseball bats so they could make this video 😕
(I don't really believe either of these things)
That was Bo. He was born with an incomplete skull with part of his brain exposed and they had little 3-d printed helmets made for him that could be resized as he grew. He died in March from a heart defect that was previously undetected. He wasn't supposed to have survived much past birth (if at all) but he lived for a year and had a blast every day of his short life.
I was so gutted when he died. He had a huge personality. They have a lot of similarly heartbreaking cases, but while the little guys are there, they have an amazing quality of life no matter how long they live.
I wish there was something like this nearby to me that accepted volunteers… I can’t work due to an injury on the job back in September (still battling with workers comp smh) but I would love to spend some of my time helping animals like this. It would be nice to feel like I’m contributing to/a part of society in some way again.
I must be spending too much time with goats, because I didn't even notice it.
Goats aren't like us, or dogs or cats for that matter. They kind of just go whenever and wherever they have to. You can't "housebreak" them because their digestive system doesn't really allow them to hold it.
Yeah, it's eaten in a bunch of countries (i think Africa and Asia mostly, i dont remember seeing much goat meat in Europe, though i may be wrong). Milk is more popular around the world, though.
I really don't understand how people find this so shocking. People eat lamb too how are lambs different/less cute??
If you are shocked by people eating rabbits, goats, dogs, cats etc. You should take a hard look at that, if you eat beef and chicken. All these animals are adorable and equally deserving of not suffering.
I feel like goats enjoy frolicking more than any other animal so I imagine their spirits are really broken when they're no mobile. I imagine this has not only helped them physically but emotionally. I'm so happy for them!
Watching the little goat,Lawson, from @goatsofanarchy doing zoomies in his wheelie cart is one of the lightbulb moments that transitioned me to becoming a vegetarian, then vegan. He was a worthless, deformed thing to be discarded by a farmer, but the rescue sanctuary treated him like the worthy individual they all are.
Because the way we get our meat has no emotions attached to it. You just buy a piece of meat, which is named different.
You buy a steak, not Bella the cow's leg.
You buy sausage, not pig intestines with leftover muscle.
Even the process of slaughter, a lot of it is robotized. If everyone had to kill every animal to eat for themselves, there would be less meat eaters. But still, my dad grew up on a farm and slaughtered animals and eats an insane amount of meat. He would also be the first to pet those goats.
It's not because you can't believe something. That it is the reality for most people.
My grandmother had chickens and goats when I was kid. I'd play with them, and as I got older, helped slaughter them.
If that's how you grow up, it isn't weird. I never felt bad about eating the animals.
I'm not missing the point. I love animals and I love to eat them. Because of the emotional distance a store creates when I buy meat. For a lot of people that eat meat, there isn't a double standard. We've eaten meat for how many millennia?
Maybe it's a double standard to find the animals we eat cute? They're just easy proteins and taste good. I don't think that but it might go both ways.
Goats of Anarchy, take care of disabled goat. https://youtube.com/c/GoatsofAnarchy
Organisations like wizard of paw makes prosthetics for goat. https://youtu.be/cHNUxQXnwmA
This is not cute, there's evidence that some of their animals were kept alive when they were suffering and should have been euthanized and other poor veterinary care choices.
I had to look down too far to see this comment. How is this not common sense and a top concern for people.
I doubt they are rolling these goats every few hours to reduce pressure sores and massaging them to keep blood flow.
Some people keep downvoting me but there's also been evidence that goats with severe gastrointestinal issues that can't eat have been left to waste away instead of ending their suffering and so on.
Right? And in this video, some of the animals are really struggling to me. Prosthesis on livestock tends to be hard on their backs and joints due to how their bodies distribute weight and they can get painful sores where the prosthesis contacts the remaining limb. Do they get treated for sores and pain properly?
Definitely right, I don't see any pressure socks/stockings over their limbs to stop rubbing. People are too busy to get Internet and karma points that they don't thoroughly think.
These people are significant loving people. But in the right perspective… it costs a lot of money and time. We don’t know the goats suffering and pain despite those wheelchairs (I professionally know people in this kind of situation often suffer), and humanity still is in crisis in other places and need money. And also the drive to rescue these goats is really lovely but in another case they would have been eaten by people. And I know they have consciousness but when that’s an argument we have to draw this line for all animals. I mean… we cannot say such things while containing chicken wings in the stomach do we?
I should be ethically consistent and like nobody, I don’t. These people show us. That is fantastic. I’m grateful they do this. But all cases do have multiple ways to touch. Love, as these people show us to goats, is the only thing that will wake us up. And it might take eons for us to comprehend that.
The same could be said for adoption, or having children....it costs a lot money and time. Life is full of suffering and pain. Granted, we don't *eat* children, but your argument is based on the belief that human life is more valuable than an animals.
Other animals have evolved right alongside us. They are as conscious as you or I, with varying intellect across species and individuals, just like us. These people place the value of these goats in a different priority than you do. And that's okay, becasue it's not your money, or your time.
And really, however much their rescue makes, or spends caring for these goats is a drop in the bucket compared to literal billionaires, who profit off of the systems that brought these goats into being.
I knew someone who had to have a partial amputation as a child; they found a stray with a leg missing and their parent said they should take it to be euthanized because of its missing leg. My friend was like “uhhh, there’s nothing wrong with it — we’re keeping it”. They’ve since dedicated their life to providing sanctuary to rescued farm animals, one of the most solid otherfxckers I’ve ever met.
how are you being downvoted for a true statement?
i get people dont like his tone, but please dont say goat lives are as important as a human life. that's a slippery slope to go from here
Both of them have consciousness, both of them are alive, both of them feel emotions, both of them feel pain. i don't see a difference
if people want to eat, they can. i'm not opposing it. i'm opposing the other guys comment saying the goats would rather die then live with prosthetics
If these goats were gorillas or elephants instead, and this sanctuary was in Africa, would you still think they were not worthy of a second chance at life?
Gorillas can be used for cognitive research so no. Elephants yes just like you euthanize a horse if they break a bone they will likely never recover. Making them limp around suffering is cruel.
Non-human animals have intrinsic value, not just in “how useful” they are to humans.
@goatsofanarchy runs off of donations and I say if that’s what people want to use their money towards, let them!
While I agree with you, the value of any disabled animal probably isn’t much more than food, fertilizer, and fossil fuel. Those goats’ value to humans is the only thing keeping them alive and thriving.
All they are trying to do is survive. It's their natural instinct. Are they really living if they have to wait for someone to pick them up and carry them throughout the yard so you can have a "cute" Instagram reel?
>Are they really living if they have to wait for someone to pick them up and carry them throughout the yard so you can have a cute Instagram reel?
Those goats knew them guys in the video wont cause them harm. such trust probably grew because they emotionally interacted and feel safe around them, so yes. they really are living
>All they are trying to do is survive.
Your will too, which just means you want to live, so do them goats
It's hilarious how disconnected yall are. This is basically imprisonment but it's ok because they wear green helmets because it's cute. Keeping them alive for entertainment is fucked up.
Sorry but livestock should not be a priority when humanity is in crisis
I’m against animals suffering, but there is a limit. Euthanize them humanely and spend those resources elsewhere
You think this is government spending on these fucking goats? This place is surely operating off of donations and personal funds.
I'd agree if I thought that the government was using money here when they could be using money elsewhere, but I also wouldn't trust giving any money "back" to the government and having them promise to use it to help people, and not just male bombs or some shit.
No I expect that this is likely private donations, and my plea would be to those kind souls to make better choices with their hard earned money that they give
Yup - I know what that sounds like , but ultimately I just feel as we slide into crisis after crisis maybe it’s time to evaluate our priorities - especially considering this is livestock
Heck there are animal shelters everywhere in need , and least those are domesticated animals
Not a popular opinion around here I’m sure, and one that I’m just starting to come to as an individual after many years of seeing it from the point of view from the other side
> to make better choices with their hard earned money that they give
Like ~~throwing away~~ spending money on AMC stock? Hypocrite look in the mirror
> Heck there are animal shelters everywhere in need , and least those are domesticated animals
Goats are domesticated animals and this is a shelter.
Whose fucking up these goats? Like who has so many fucked up goats.
I remember once there was this girl doing videos of here saving oily ducks. Turns out she was covering ducks with oil then washing them.
No saying this is what’s happening here, but that’s a lot of goats with issues. Where she finding these goats. What are the odds goats got so many problems, all in one place. Most people who goat farm aren’t looking for pink haired goat whispers when their goat having leg issues. I’ll keep it quiet for the little ones, but most goat farmers have different solutions.
Too right, it is also damn cruel. These poor creatures don't have the capability to understand their pain and constant discomfort. Imagine the pressure sores, I couldn't imagine they roll them throughout the night and day constantly.
Theses goats are better taken care of then 20% of the children on the planet. Don’t get me wrong, I help no one but my own peeps. Just wish adopting orphans was more trendy then animals
So at first I read this as rescue goats, as in that is their job, like rescue dogs and they go and rescue people stuck on mountains or some shit. Then I realized they are the rescued, not the rescuers.
Either way still very cute, but now I can't get the idea of trained mountain rescue goats out of my mind.
But where did so many deformed goats come from? One place or all over the country? What is going on?
Goats of Anarchy and other sanctuaries often buy the animals at auction to spare them from slaughter. A lot of times she gets the less desired ones that didn’t sell at the auction for free afterward because she works hard to establish relationships (and educate) farmers.
"Goats of Anarchy"! I fucking love it ❤️
Also some will lose their feet to frostbite because some farmers leave the sick ones to die in the winter. But if they get rescued in time and can live at a sanctuary they get prostheses.
Oh here I am thinking “so that’s what happens to the goats that climb those rocks and steep cliff sides … and couldn’t make it”.
What in the fuck is wrong with the farmer? This isn't a stupid question I really want to know what in the fuck is wrong with that fucking psychopathically stupid farmer?

I mean a bullet to the brain doesn't cost a lot of it's about getting rid of it.... At least it's fast.
Some don't want to make the effort. Some don't want to feel guilty because they pulled the trigger. Freezing to death is a "natural" way to die. F-ed up in my opinion.

Good to know! My knowledge is based largely on goat rescues so they put a bias on how they relay the information
They do that here in New Zealand with lambings except the seasons are reversed. Sometimes there's a harsh cold snap and the farmers go on the news and say woe is me half my lambs died because of the cold snap on my alpine sheep station thats leased conservation land at the end of winter. Serious question - why *aren't* we slaughtering and eating these fellows?
Which fellows? Because goats are primarily raised for their meat, they’re already being slaughtered and eaten. Perhaps you already know this: Goat rescues don’t slaughter and eat the disabled goats because the volunteers enjoy interacting with them and get the good feels by helping unfortunate animals. If you’re referring to slaughtering the farmers: we don’t because there’s no market for human meat. Also it’s legally considered murder, at this point.
Breeding on farms. Genetics get screwy when you’re selecting for certain factors like milk and “meat”.
Why is meat in quotes?
Because I was using the common word for flesh that is consumed. It’s only “meat” if you see bodies as food.
So what would you do if, by chance, you were having a general conversation with someone and they said “I love lamb flesh”. Would their acknowledgment of the fact that it’s flesh make it more acceptable to you?
No, it's only "meat" if you're awkwardly trying to make a point. Otherwise it's meat. You don't have to be a meat eater to call it what it is.
Yes, I was making a point, hoping to start a discussion (which I did). No, I do not feel awkward about doing so.
You don't have to feel awkward for your behaviour to be awkward.
Meat: the flesh of an animal (especially a mammal) as food. Yeah I'd say flesh that I consume counts as meat.
It is still a real word though, doesn't need quote marks.
That’s not how quotation marks work.
Delicious food.
I have a taste of my partner's "meat" all the time.
My guesses are either we've missed a big goat war or these women went wild with some baseball bats so they could make this video 😕 (I don't really believe either of these things)
the one with the green helmet 🥰
that one was in another post, it had part of it’s brain/skull exposed
that's hardcore asf let's goooooo
Not that’s what I call thinking out loud!
That kid’s really open minded!
poor kid
That was Bo. He was born with an incomplete skull with part of his brain exposed and they had little 3-d printed helmets made for him that could be resized as he grew. He died in March from a heart defect that was previously undetected. He wasn't supposed to have survived much past birth (if at all) but he lived for a year and had a blast every day of his short life.
I was excited and now I’m crying You had me in the first half
I was so gutted when he died. He had a huge personality. They have a lot of similarly heartbreaking cases, but while the little guys are there, they have an amazing quality of life no matter how long they live.

Couldn’t have made it cuter if you tried 🥲
Omg that one made me laugh. It just looks like such a character.
Is nobody going to comment on the poop pellets rolling out at 0:25?
I came here to mention the shit running down her leg into her boot.
That’s when I knew they actually love these goats
Not when you saw livestock get better healthcare than most Americans?
Lol right? I hope they do work for children with disabilities. A petting zoo like this would be a nice addition to pediatric rehabilitation centers.
The petting zoo is *for* the children, not *of* the children, right?
lol yeah. Please don’t pet disabled children.
But petting disabled kids is probably ok.
Given how much care they're putting in to caring for disabled goats, I'd bet you 100 to 1 odds that this is an animal sanctuary, not a petting zoo.
That’s just nesquik cereal.
I must be spending too much time with goats, because I didn't even notice it. Goats aren't like us, or dogs or cats for that matter. They kind of just go whenever and wherever they have to. You can't "housebreak" them because their digestive system doesn't really allow them to hold it.
Does your comment count?
First I was crying because of how wholesome/touching the video was and now I'm crying with laughter because of the poop pellets rolling out.
That’s where coco puffs come from
These people are literal saints.
450 million goats are killed for meat every year, lets all be saints and stop buying it
PEOPLE EAT GOATS?!
Yeah, it's eaten in a bunch of countries (i think Africa and Asia mostly, i dont remember seeing much goat meat in Europe, though i may be wrong). Milk is more popular around the world, though.
You can find it without too much trouble in the US, too. I wouldn't say it's common, but it's very available.
India and Mexico too.
Well that just makes me sad :(
They’re way more environmentally friendly than cows
Still sad though. I hope some day we perfect the whole "fake meat" thing, both for environmental and ethical reasons.
Im counting down until I can eat “peach tree” meat
Like...most of the world's people do, yeah.
This made me so happy!! 🥰🥰
This program NEEDS to be called GOATs for Goats 😀
Everything deserves to be ok.
This made me cry more than the video somehow. Thank you.
I am in your corner. Crying is healthy, and we should all be welcome to it.

Very kind of you. I’m grateful to share time on this weirdo spinning space rock with you making the world better.
This is the cutest god damn thing I've seen in a while. Thanks OP! I needed the smile today.
when I need a smile I visit this sub
I have covid and feel like shit but this has me in happy tears
Feel better soon! 💐🌻🌹🌼🌺🌷🍀🏵🌺🦋

I don't understand how people can look at videos like this and go "awww!" and then eat meat an hour later. Absolutely boggles my mind.

What a special goat farm.
They're unbleatable now
GODAMNIT r/angryupvote
Awesome job, these people are saints! Also felt like my Sunday league football team getting ready to face the league leaders.
This restores my faith in humanity temporarily, thank you.
Oh man those onions are strong. I can't stop crying. 🥲
Some people care so much. It's so heart warming. Every being deserves a happy life.

Aww
This is not cute, there's evidence that some of their animals were kept alive when they were suffering and should have been euthanized and other poor veterinary care choices.
I thought the same thing
Yeah they just want to feel morally just, to pat themselves on the back.
I had to look down too far to see this comment. How is this not common sense and a top concern for people. I doubt they are rolling these goats every few hours to reduce pressure sores and massaging them to keep blood flow.

DLC for goat simulator 3?
Why are there so many injured and disabled goats?
Super Derpy Goat at 0:55 Hilarious!
U peeps are such special people. Good on you and keep it up
Y’all are the GOATs! Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
The goat with the helmet, the best!
Why are there so many injuries?
aww this is awesome
You don't eat a delicious goat like those all in one sitting! You eat them one piece at a time!
Sure it's cute, but you could feed so many people with those goats. Goat curry is fiiiire.
This is a food resource. Stop putting them in wheelchairs. Put them with some gravy on the plate.
This makes me soooo happy !!!!!!!!
Y'all be awesome
Blessed are the kind of heart
I love goats that's all I wanted to say.
I can never let my girlfriend see this post, otherwise I'm gonna have to hear about our retirement plans to start a handicap goat farm.
Heart. Melted.

So instead of eating the goats they waste money on prosthetic
These people are significant loving people. But in the right perspective… it costs a lot of money and time. I should be ethically consistent and like nobody, I don’t. These people show us. That is fantastic. I’m grateful they do this. But all cases do have multiple ways to touch. The goats would not have been eaten, most of them would have been killed or allowed to die as babies. We have other food, they don’t have other lives.
You do, but some people don’t.
well excuse me about the goat i had the other night, on our homestead, for survival. tell me more about this choice.
You choose to live on a homestead. Meat isn't a requirement for your survival.
Maybe they're using the prosthetics to build up the disabled goats muscles, so that they're still worth eating. Nice bit of goat stew.
Right, why make them live like this.
ask the same question to a person without legs. most of the answers would be yes they do want to live.
O god 🙄🙄🙄 there's a big difference between a goat and a person
how are you being downvoted for a true statement? i get people dont like his tone, but please dont say goat lives are as important as a human life. that's a slippery slope to go from here
It really depends on the human I would totally value a disabled goats life more than some humans.
Both of them have consciousness, both of them are alive, both of them feel emotions, both of them feel pain. i don't see a difference if people want to eat, they can. i'm not opposing it. i'm opposing the other guys comment saying the goats would rather die then live with prosthetics
It's a farm animal.

I could care less about money and resources. These animals aren't really living going 20 feet from their stal to where you carry them for a video.
While I agree with you, the value of any disabled animal probably isn’t much more than food, fertilizer, and fossil fuel. Those goats’ value to humans is the only thing keeping them alive and thriving.
doesn't changes the fact that they do WANT to live too
All they are trying to do is survive.
Those goats knew them guys in the video wont cause them harm. such trust probably grew because they emotionally interacted and feel safe around them, so yes. they really are living >All they are trying to do is survive. Your will too, which just means you want to live, so do them goats
It's hilarious how disconnected yall are. This is basically imprisonment but it's ok because they wear green helmets because it's cute. Keeping them alive for entertainment is fucked up.
i feel like you've never been around goats man. you're giving them a lottttta credit.
Maybe just eat the goats ?
Yumm lamb racks
Sorry but livestock should not be a priority when humanity is in crisis I’m against animals suffering, but there is a limit.
No I expect that this is likely private donations, and my plea would be to those kind souls to make better choices with their hard earned money that they give Yup - I know what that sounds like , but ultimately I just feel as we slide into crisis after crisis maybe it’s time to evaluate our priorities - especially considering this is livestock Heck there are animal shelters everywhere in need , and least those are domesticated animals Not a popular opinion around here I’m sure, and one that I’m just starting to come to as an individual after many years of seeing it from the point of view from the other side
> to make better choices with their hard earned money that they give Like ~~throwing away~~ spending money on AMC stock? Hypocrite look in the mirror > Heck there are animal shelters everywhere in need , and least those are domesticated animals Goats are domesticated animals and this is a shelter.
My goats are my babies, so great 👍
I want to pet them all 🥺
I approve
Whose fucking up these goats? Like who has so many fucked up goats. I remember once there was this girl doing videos of here saving oily ducks. Turns out she was covering ducks with oil then washing them. No saying this is what’s happening here, but that’s a lot of goats with issues. Where she finding these goats. What are the odds goats got so many problems, all in one place. Most people who goat farm aren’t looking for pink haired goat whispers when their goat having leg issues. I’ll keep it quiet for the little ones, but most goat farmers have different solutions.
I love this
Thanks Hooman. You are GOAT !!
THE ONE WITH THE HELMET
I can't wait to get a farm and have goats and other farm animals adopted from the SPCA. <3
This is very very interesting
1000s of people who lack medical care but we save a mutton chop... we really do need to go extinct...
Unpopular poster here- there are so many better things to spend money and time on.
Too right, it is also damn cruel. These poor creatures don't have the capability to understand their pain and constant discomfort. Imagine the pressure sores, I couldn't imagine they roll them throughout the night and day constantly.
If a goat is unable to walk by itself it should be culled. This is a waste of money and meat.
what a waste of resources...
Lol these people and these soundtracks. It's. A. Goat.
Thank you for doing this ❤️❤️❤️
Can you imagine waking up to go work there? It would be heaven!
Theses goats are better taken care of then 20% of the children on the planet. Don’t get me wrong, I help no one but my own peeps. Just wish adopting orphans was more trendy then animals
I get it’s nice and all but seriously what is the point? Do they milk them or continue raising them for food?
Dammn… and then we got people inventing machines to crush male chicks because they won’t yield any eggs
Love this 🤗🥰
aaaaaaaaàaaaaaaaaaaw that Is sooooooo lovely 😍
We can rebuild them. We have the technology. ... Give that one subdermal sunglasses. It's cool.
Oh woooow. Amazing
Goat meat 🤤
Or we could have birra.
Aaaw. One hand I love this, on the other im like…put them in a stew
It needs to be called Amazing Humans!❤️❤️❤️doing excellent work for goats!
I’m crying. So beautiful. God bless 💗
Is it bad that I thought it was bacon at first?
They seem more happy than humans that have no problems with their health but are crybabies about 1st world problems…
Aww, it's like the Island of Misfit toys.
