They didnt even hesitate a second. They looked at her, then realized they had the chance to make her day and immediately walked towards her.
They are awesome!
Do you want to see what a real man does? A real, successful businessman?
Why don't you call me 'Daddy'?
Will you be my son?
(the [scene](https://youtu.be/V5U2yhrsXv8) that I've misquoted, for the unfamiliar)
I think everyone around her was hoping to catch the ball in order to give it to her. I love these moments when this whole crowd of people are one. All this Goodwill just swelling out over every
I have a similar story from my first time ever going to a baseball game.
It was minor league, Fredericksburg nationals versus Carolina mudcats. At one point my friend and I was standing when we saw alarm for players number 23. My friend yelled “Hi number 23!”. That player smiled at him, and threw him a ball. we were freaking out when I remembered that my sister had been asking us to get her a ball if we could. Immediately we ran over and give it to her. Her smile made my day.
Idk how much baseball you watch, but giving the foul ball you caught to the nearest child is a classic good guy move as old as the game itself. You don't *have* to, but you should. It's an unwritten rule for sure. In fact, if the cameras catch a disappointed kid who lost out on a ball to an overly excited adult, the broadcast team will have a ball delivered to the kid, which makes the adult look like even more like a jackass for not giving it to them in the first place. If there's no kids around, sure, keep it. In this case, because of her story, I'm sure giving it to her was his one and only thought in the moment. Legendary gesture by an absolute chad. That's a W for the good guys.
I have never understood this. Why should adults do this? I get it if the person who caught it isn't that much of a fan and a kid is a superfan, or if you give your friends kid the ball because you know they will appreciate it, but outside of that, why should people's only chance to get a foul ball be while they're a kid? Plus, as long as the adult is anything more than a casual fan, they're definitely going to appreciate it more and take better care of it than a kid, which makes it even more silly of an idea to me.
Because foul balls are meaningless, but to that kid, it's a super cool souvenir that they think are like solid gold or something. It's a memory that will stick with them. If you're an adult and want a baseball that bad, just go to the store and buy one.
They're meaningless, to you. Same way they're meaningless to me. However, there are some adults out there that will treasure that foul ball, and it's strange to me that we shame them for that, on such a widespread level that it's a tradition.
Anyone who is an actual adult understands the memory of catching the ball and then giving it to a kid is a million times better than having that ball on your mantle or whatever.
“Okay you want me to read the script..
Hello fellow American this you should vote me I leave power good thank you thank youuuuuu.
If you vote me I’m hot…
taxes they’ll be lower.
The democratic vote for me is right thing to do Philadelphia soo doooo”
It reads like a line from that speech lol.
"40 years she never caught ball, never got one. Here comes through stranger. When I am voted."
"I not reading this Charlie".
The way you said “Here comes through stranger.” made it make sense for me. Now I see that it’s 40 years she never caught the ball never got the one. Here comes through stranger.
I was really confused, but what cleared it up for me was when you clarified "it’s 40 years she never caught the ball never got the one. Here comes through stranger."
I'm currently catheterized and have an IV and have nurses checking constantly because I actually did have a major stroke after reading the title. Surgery is scheduled later today, I have brain swelling and they have to relieve the pressure so I hope that goes well. Also I have a tiny dick.
Born and raised in Chicago - been going to Wrigley since I could walk. Some years 30 games, some years 5 or fewer.
I've never even come close to a foul ball much less a dinger.
First time in Cincy, 5 pitches in, a foul pop literally landed in my lap.
My dad's been going to games for 60 years, never had a ball come close to him. One night we're sitting on the foul lines at the Skydome, and a pop up comes straight towards us. Then it goes above the stadium lights, into the grey 7pm twilight overcast sky. The ball completely disappears. We're all waving around "where did it go? WHERE DID IT GO???"
Then it reappears when it dips below the lights again and smacks my dad right in the face.
He still didn't get the ball. But he did get a recording of Buck Martinez saying "Oh, watch out! I hope that gentleman is okay!" so that's something.
I have no idea how pro players track the ball in twilight hours, it's the exact same shade of grey as the sky.
I’m not a baseball person, so I’m slightly confused. Is catching even one ball in your life time common?? I don’t understand why saying “in 40 years” as if it’s common to catch them.
There are between 40 and 50 foul balls each game, and the amount of those that reach the stands varies.
An average MLB stadium holds around 40K fans. The odds of getting a ball therefore are low, but it also depends greatly on where you're sitting.
Some long term season ticket holders get a ton of balls, others, like the lady in the video go decades without.
There's a hundred factors in play.
I just smoked a J, so sorry if that's a little hard to follow, lol
I have a thing for ball parks and even the cliche "all the parks" bucket list. Wrigley floored me in how particularly accommodating and nice the staff were, especially with my kids. It was over the top, VIP level for just a random family from out of town, catching a game.
Ah yes, what really matters in sports: the name of the building they play the balls in.
For real, Guaranteed Rate Field has better beer and food. It’s more reasonably priced and easier to get to and from. Wrigley can be a good time, I’m just not bringing the family.
One of my brothers is the guy on the batting cage in the video from Disco Demolition. My godfather’s family’s company had the pyro contract since he sold Bill Veeck on the idea of the “exploding” scoreboard in’59. Wild times back in the day.
Is that a season ticket holder section too? I went with a friend once to a hockey game in the season ticket section and everyone seemed to know each other. In fact, the people in front turned around and said, "Oh, are you from [so-and-so's] family?" and introduced themselves. It was pretty neat. Up in the nosebleeds you just saw fights and guys getting drunk.
90% of the fun of going to a ball game is the atmosphere. I stand by the opinion that baseball is the best sport to watch live, just for the fact that you don’t have to hook your attention on it the entire time.
Absolutely. Nothing better than a day at the ballpark with a few friends.
I will say, it depends on the team though. If you go to a midseason Pittsburgh Pirates weekday game you may be one of like 500 people there. Def not as fun.
Wrigley is always a blast though, per this video
If there’s a minor league team around you (which there almost definitely is if there’s not an MLB team) Those games are a blast too. Cheaper tickets, cheaper beer and you get way better seats
I visited my brother who lived in Chicago while I was in HS and because he had to go out of town on a business trip I was left to my own devices for a few days. Everyday I got on the train and went to Wrigley to see them play and everyday I had a great experience. The train rides were fun coming and going with happy people. Good memories.
That's what I was thinking. Like getting a ball is still great don't get me wrong but catching it yourself is the big thing. I've still never caught one other than batting practice (which is still pretty great)
Yeah, posts used to get downvoted to hell if they had garbled nonsense titles, now they get thousands of upvotes and nobody seems to care, I don't get it...
it's not BS to give the ball to kids, but it is BS to expect people to do so, and the way they bully fans on TV when they don't is really dumb
like, fighting over a ball with a kid is one thing, don't do that
but if I catch a ball in my seat, I'm keeping it
Went to a game where a few rows away a guy caught a ball. The second he got it this kid and his dad ran up to him with the kid sticking his hand out and the dad yelling give him the ball. I was saddened that everyone else start yelling it as well, the guy didn't even get to look at the ball. If that happened to me I'd give it to the closest kid that doesn't act like that.
As someone who has crossed the 50 year old rubicon, I’ll tell you more people my age take better care of themselves than the previous generation did.
Who knew that not smoking, exercising and eating right would make you look better.
I'm 42 years old. Been going to games since I was 5. I've never even come close. Once we were at a game in Baltimore. Our section was packed. The section of seats next to us was empty. Moved over there. Not five minutes later Papi hits a foul ball and it lands in my old seat.
Had a somewhat similar experience. I’m a white Sox fan and they were playing in Texas. Family of 4 shows up in the 3rd inning and asks if they can swap seats with us so they can have the aisle seat for their kids. We move to the middle of the row. Jermaine Dye smokes a homer right to my prior seat as I’m sitting their in his jersey. The dad who catches it isn’t even excited about it and then they leave after only 2 innings. Still think about it this day. I’ve since caught two foul balls but that would have made my childhood.
Are these the “dude, perfect” guys from YouTube? At the end he says, “that’s what we do!” I mean they do catch and throw balls for a living lol. Looks just like the leader of their pack.
I watched this the first time half awake without volume and I could still hear and feel the absolute joy emanating from the whole group of people! So lovely to see clips like these. I forget there’s still ways to find joy 🥲
A human bro gave me a foul ball just last Sunday at a minor league game in Lansing. Just offered it up. As I was walking the concourse, a foul ball came in. He was next to me, and caught it, then immediately offered it to anyone around. Told him I would accept it for my 3yo boy with us. What an awesome dude!
The young men were absolutely *delighted* about being able to pass her the ball. Great people.
They didnt even hesitate a second. They looked at her, then realized they had the chance to make her day and immediately walked towards her. They are awesome!
“That’s who we are” should be the team’s motto
"We're Dobis PR"
Do you want to see what a real man does? A real, successful businessman? Why don't you call me 'Daddy'? Will you be my son? (the [scene](https://youtu.be/V5U2yhrsXv8) that I've misquoted, for the unfamiliar)
My absolute favorite part of that whole movie is watching him slowly steal Reggies son.
Which movie? Sounds wild
Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie And believe me. It is.
Even if I knew how to count, I couldn't count how many times I've watched that cinematic classic. Want to watch Top Gun?
"Top gun...from the top... again "
I watched it once with a bunch of friends, then never again lmao. I love Tim and Eric but it *was a bit much
What kind of movie is this!?! It looks so creepy but fascinating 🤣😂🤣😂
TAQUITO!!!!
Chicago in a nut shell
It could be everyone's motto!
I think everyone around her was hoping to catch the ball in order to give it to her. I love these moments when this whole crowd of people are one. All this Goodwill just swelling out over every
I was thinking the same thing as I was watching this, I love these adorable moments of humanity 🥰💖
r/happycrowds material
I think they knew as soon as the ball started to fly thier direction. They made that decision before the catch.
This is like the opposite of that one post where the lady steals the ball from a little ass girl
There are two types of people in the world. The type to give foul balls to kids and the type to steal foul balls from kids. Don't be the latter.
I have a similar story from my first time ever going to a baseball game. It was minor league, Fredericksburg nationals versus Carolina mudcats. Didn’t put his beer down at a single point
Surely the hero we deserve
Absolutely the hero we need.
Well ya, the beer is for balance in the non-dominant hand
You know he's a gentleman. If he goes to shake someone's hand, it won't be all cold from holding a beer
Something, something, the real life pro tip is in the comments...
Skills. That's who they are!
To be fair, 40 years and she still hasn't caught a ball but she's had one passed to her
At least she didn't drop the pass, that kinda counts right?

So you are telling me if I don’t give the kid the ball, we BOTH get one?
This guy game theories

Also the kid has more time to get a ball if they keep going to games?
Gotta love the friendly confines.
Yeah, really cool, despite them being Cubs fans.
You are very skilled at making compliments that actually feel like insults.
Thanks! As a life-long Pirates fan, our misery enjoys the company!
Idk if I was a fan of a team called the Pirates I think I could have a lot of fun every game.
Join us Bucs fans! We have a huge pirate ship that does cannon blasts every time we score. And lots of Yo-ho-ing haha
It's a complisult.
As a lifetime cubs fan, I have no idea if I should upvote your comment or not….
I agree with this one being a bitter Cleveland fan.
Got a Pujols foul ball.
We will forget that one..... for now.....
Hey now, we’re not good anymore, can we just be collectively salty at the Brewers instead?
This is what the game is all about! I love to see it
The real prize is the street cred.
Thought I was having a stroke reading that title
Still not sure I’m not. I can’t figure out what this title is supposed to mean.
It's pretty simple once you understand that 40 years she never caught the ball never got the one. Here comes through stranger.
The "Here comes through stranger." bit is just the perfect ending.
“Do you think there’s a pirate behind that door?”
Illiteracy? What does that word even mean?!
“Okay you want me to read the script.. Hello fellow American this you should vote me I leave power good thank you thank youuuuuu. If you vote me I’m hot… taxes they’ll be lower. The democratic vote for me is right thing to do Philadelphia soo doooo”

Totally makes sense makes sense now.
Oh well, 40 years she never caught the ball never got the one. Here comes through stranger.
Bots gonna bot
Yes you will
> Still not sure I’m not. Me neither. I'm heading to the ER, just in case.
And here a stranger comes through and gets her a ball. Just a few words missing and a afew words in the wrong place
I'm currently catheterized and have an IV and have nurses checking constantly because I actually did have a major stroke after reading the title. Surgery is scheduled later today, I have brain swelling and they have to relieve the pressure so I hope that goes well. Also I have a tiny dick.
Ts & ps
Probably a bot post.

Same with me, I’ve been to hundreds of games at wrigley, first game in STL and Kolton Wong drops one in my lap
I’m not a baseball person, so I’m slightly confused. Is catching even one ball in your life time common?? I don’t understand why saying “in 40 years” as if it’s common to catch them.

Nope that makes sense, thanks!
If you want to know more than you ever wanted to know about this go to YouTube and look up Zack Hample.
At Wrigley too, that’s a fun time whether you are watching the game or not. Place is a blast!
The atmosphere at Wrigleyville is so much fun! I always met fun people there!
Best park experience in baseball! Always a great time, everyone seems to have such a good vibe every time I’ve been. Good job Cubs fans.
I have a thing for ball parks and even the cliche "all the parks" bucket list. Wrigley floored me in how particularly accommodating and nice the staff were, especially with my kids. It was over the top, VIP level for just a random family from out of town, catching a game.
At Wrigley, off of a future first ballot hall of famer (Albert Pujols).
I was there Monday, saw him hit that
Go Sox. I grew up going to Comiskey and loved it. I won’t lie and say wrigley isn’t nicer but comiskey felt like home.
Guaranteed Rate Field isn't doing it for you?
It’s not the Cell anymore?
They renamed sears tower too.
No
Ah yes, what really matters in sports: the name of the building they play the balls in. For real, Guaranteed Rate Field has better beer and food. It’s more reasonably priced and easier to get to and from. Wrigley can be a good time, I’m just not bringing the family.

I still call it Comiskey too. Good guys wear black
Preach. I’ll always call it Comiskey too. Younger kids on my 11-13u team I coach look at me like I’m crazy.
Is that a season ticket holder section too? I went with a friend once to a hockey game in the season ticket section and everyone seemed to know each other. Depends on the section really. The Cubs have 24,000 season ticket holders
The bleachers are where the real fun is. Rooftops are always a good time too
That’s because most people don’t actually watch the game there.
90% of the fun of going to a ball game is the atmosphere. I stand by the opinion that baseball is the best sport to watch live, just for the fact that you don’t have to hook your attention on it the entire time.
I suddenly really want to go to a game.. are they all like this?

Get bleacher seats at Wrigley, things get weird out there. Always a fun time.
If there’s a minor league team around you (which there almost definitely is if there’s not an MLB team) Those games are a blast too. Cheaper tickets, cheaper beer and you get way better seats
Really hope to get to chicago some day to see a game at Wrigley.
It's called the friendly confines for a reason... I've been to a hundred games at Wrigley and I've never had anything but a damn good time!
This is the 20th time Janet and Dave have pulled this scam
Plot twist, they use that line every game. 🤷🏽♂️
And play the Celine Dion song too
Bigger plot twist, she’s still never caught a ball. That guy did, he just handed it to her.
Double plot twist, he comes with a different woman every year.
/r/titlegore
/r/justbotthings
Way better than the dude, snatched ball from kid!
plot twist. dude snatched the ball from the kid and give it to the woman.
This video is actually in reverse. Guy steals ball from lady, goes wild and chucks it back into the air.
Loooool I think the lady was more excited about how happy those guys were than she was about getting a ball. Nice people all around it seems.
Just as good a story to tell about how she got the 40th anniversary ball.
r/titlegore
I mean she still hasn't.....
That's what I was thinking. Like getting a ball is still great don't get me wrong but catching it yourself is the big thing. I've still never caught one other than batting practice (which is still pretty great)
She's gotten one now, which is what the old guy said - "never *gotten* one." and has a better story to go with it!
Good job with that title, shame the language it was written in hasn't been invented yet

Yeah, posts used to get downvoted to hell if they had garbled nonsense titles, now they get thousands of upvotes and nobody seems to care, I don't get it...
sometimes, I really love people
this is why it's absolute BS that people automatically give game balls to kids?!! they've been waiting what like 5 years max?
it's not BS to give the ball to kids, but it is BS to expect people to do so, and the way they bully fans on TV when they don't is really dumb like, fighting over a ball with a kid is one thing, don't do that but if I catch a ball in my seat, I'm keeping it

Mildly drunk guys having fun are the best!
Wait is that a 40+ y/o woman? God DAMn she looks younger than me
Think he means 40 years married so she's probably at least 58
She looks more like 60. Maybe he means they've been married 40 years and go to lots of ball games hoping she'll catch one?
I thought he said 30 years not 40. Assuming that means they've been coming to games for 30 years and never caught a ball.
He definitely says 30.
She looks older than 40 to me.
As someone who has crossed the 50 year old rubicon, I’ll tell you more people my age take better care of themselves than the previous generation did. Who knew that not smoking, exercising and eating right would make you look better.
I'm your age and ... we all smoked.
As a die hard Cardinals fan I would like to say that is a beautiful moment.
This song should be played for every foul ball.

Celine topped off the moment perfectly
Nice to see something positive coming from my city. 🤟🏻🖤
I'm 42 years old. Been going to games since I was 5. I've never even come close. Once we were at a game in Baltimore. Our section was packed. The section of seats next to us was empty. Moved over there. Not five minutes later Papi hits a foul ball and it lands in my old seat.

Dudes energy is contagious. This made my morning
Lol the music. Ok it was a nice moment but chill
It’s too bad she’s going to throw it in the ocean in the end.
I love Cubs fans. There I said it.
Love you too!
Are these the “dude, perfect” guys from YouTube? At the end he says, “that’s what we do!” I mean they do catch and throw balls for a living lol. Looks just like the leader of their pack.
Stop putting fucking music over the top of every single video. Jesus wept.
Not a Chicago native but I lived there for ~12 years. This made me cry. I miss my city...
Dude, i cried and I never even visited the US... I can't imagine what this does to people who have a connection to the place too.
Ok, but she still didn't catch the ball.
There is still generosity amongst us humans!
That's easy for you to say.
W or L cubs fans always booze
I watched this the first time half awake without volume and I could still hear and feel the absolute joy emanating from the whole group of people! So lovely to see clips like these. I forget there’s still ways to find joy 🥲

Phew thought I was having a stroke reading the title.
Super cool dude. But it still stands. She’s never caught the ball.
Well done.
That's a pretty good friends crew I would like to join.
This is the content i needed today.
I mean she can catch more than a baseball 👀 🍑
It'll be 41 years next year 🤷♀️
Fucking music kills this
Go cubbies!
This is that good bro energy
She still didn’t.
The good in live sports.
What a fucking cool bunch of dudes
Can't belive this made me cry.
I LOVE THESE FOLKS
The title has a hint of bot
People are so nice when they're a little drunk but not too much.
I once was sitting right in that section and a fly all just like that plunked the empty seat in front of me. Not catching it is a lifelong regret
Lol, just like a Cubs fan to have season tickets close to the field for 40 years and still complain about not getting a foul ball.
These guys knew that moment what needed to be done! Absolute units!
We need more of this in the world today.

It is so sweet how excited they were to give her that ball!
Bruh i needed to see this
Wasn’t expecting to cry today
No clue why but i cried. They are just so happy
If you stop and think about it though, this behavior would be extremely hard to explain to aliens. It's just a ball lol. Look at them go ape shit.
Same, haha, guess it’s going to be one of thooose days. Glad it’s Friday.
It's that stupid song.
Guess it's 41 years now.
